I ordered delivery last night. It was all right. I got steamed snow peas, cabbage, and broccoli, with white sauce--the white sauce definitely had garlic in it, and it was delivered on the side in its own container. The rice was a tiny bit overcooked. For the price, it wasn't something I would really want again. I also ordered the shrimp, chicken and wonton soup. I didn't eat that till today. I like shrimp, but other than that, there wasn't any spectacular about the rest of the soup either. I've ordered delivery from this place a total of seven times. Twice the food was not edible. The other five times it was tolerable. Today I asked them to replace my order of cashew chicken that had burnt nuts. Giving the entire dish a terrible taste. In addition, I ordered fried rice and paid extra for it. It contained five frozen peas and maybe three carrots??? Not a speck of egg. I might mention that I waited over an hour for this dish and an order of cream cheese wontons. The response I got from the rude young lady taking orders when I called back was "are you sure?" No....that's why I'm wasting my time calling?? Honestly, she asked the owner "does cashew chicken come with burnt nuts" then the owner got on the phone after about five to ten minutes of me waiting...only to be told "you don't know the difference between peanuts and cashews". "Cashews are dark" Seriously?? They are burnt! She seemed shocked when I informed her I would not order from them again and was placing a Yelp review. Just because they are one of two places that deliver to my address I've given them more than one chance. The other burnt entree was lemon chicken. *I gave the delivery driver a $5 tip as always. Lifelong Tustin Resident wh discovered CWE after I got an expensive door flyer on nice card stock on my front door. I have been there several times, and its nice to go to a Chineese place, and to see your food come out of the fridge fresh and raw, prepared in front of you, and served hot. Sent my In'laws there from out of town and they loved it. Food is excellent. Big portions. Chicken is plump. Shrimp is light and crisp. Veggies are crunchy and fresh. The place doesn't have much of a dining room, but if your patient you could seat a big family comfortably. Their drink selection blows, but that's ok because the food is great.... I arrived at 7:45p I really wanted to get food at another establishment across the street but it closed at 6:30p. When I entered they had the counters and 3 of the 6 tables covered in bagged "to go" orders. As I waited 5-8 minutes to place my order I overheard the 2 cashiers talking to multiple customers and them; struggling to take orders and apologizing to others because they had been waiting an hour+ for their delivery. This excited me as the food must be great for them to be so slammed. I ordered Orange Chicken(had a chili sign), Kung Pao Chicken(had a chili sign), House Special 3 taste and Vegetable Chow mein for about $51+. They said it would be 15 minutes and it was 7:50p so I walked around the block(I don't suggest for most single females but I had my dog with me) to 7-11 for something to drink and back around 8:10p. They were busy reviewing the many bags of to-go orders as drivers were trying to find what I assumed(I don't speak Mandarin) was complete orders before loading up their cars. I got my order to go and it was complete with prebagged sauces, napkins, fortune cookies, and plastic utensils. When I arrived home and served dinner for myself and 2 large (read; eat anything)teenage sons, it was difficult to tell the difference between the Kung Pao and the House Special. *The Chow Mein was "brown" and swimming in a pool of oil with a few very undercooked vegetables. *The Kung Pao really didn't have "chicken" pieces it was more ground chicken bits and the peanuts were crushed not whole and NO chilis, it had no spice at all. *The House Special was difficult to understand what "Special" was, it just tasted like the Kung Pao with added seafood. *The Orange Chicken didn't have any flavor past sweet even though it had a "chili' sign. Overall the only seasoning I could taste was Soy Sauce, which I have at home and can add on my own. Why 2 stars? The rice was nice and moist. I have had really amazingly good food from here, ordered two weeks later and wondered what happened. It would be a five star spot of they could consistently produce my first order. However, their biggest issue is consistency. I love their Mongolian beef exactly half the time that I order it, and am extremely disappointed the other half of the time. It's really a shame because I'd order from them all the time if I knew what to expect! I've had orders that were well marinated and delicious, then the next order tastes like they just sprayed some sauce on it and that's that. Other orders have been mostly onion with very little beef. I wouldn't eat there. It would be awkward. The staff is mostly using the tables to eat their meals, it's small, and you can tell that they mostly function as a delivery place. You get a lot of food when you order, and that's great when you get good food, and not so great when you regret your purchase and have an extra meal in the fridge for tomorrow.. I'd recommend it to friends and have done so, but I always give them a heads up that it's a gamble and not to judge it based on their first purchase, good or bad. TL;DR: Pretty sure they draw straws to determine who has to cook each day and the loser is on the grill. Could be Ramsey or could be the janitor. It's an adventure to order from here. read more

I was in the area pet sitting and didn't feel like cooking so I found this place and figured I could try it for delivery. So glad I did. YUMMM Firstly the woman on the phone was not only hard to understand, she was a little rude and very short with me. Like I had such the nerve to call her and interrupt whatever she was doing before hand. Little irritating, but whatever. The delivery guy was really nice. I gave him a good tip. Here's what I ordered and what I thought. Broccoli Beef, Medium - Great flavor with both the beef and the broccoli. The size alone was massive. Much bigger than I expected. It would easily be split for 2-4 people depending on what else you got. Orange Chicken, Medium - Flavor was amazing. Had a little bit of a kick to it, but it wasn't too much. It wasn't too breaded like a lot of other Chinese places. Again size was huge. House Chow Mein - I didn't want a specific chow mein (beef, chicken, shrimp) so I ordered the House Chow Mein thinking it would be regular, plain chow mein. It wasn't. Glad I wasn't allergic to anything because this sucker had EVERYTHING. I pushed aside all the beef, chicken, and shrimp and just dug in for the noodles. The noodles themselves had really good flavor. Size of this was probably a large and it was massive. Cream Cheese Won Tons with Crab - AAA-MAZING. Seriously one of the best Cream Cheese Won Tons I've ever had. This one has a tiny bit of crab in it, obviously imitation, but it's still really good. I'll make special trips to get a fix on these puppies! Seriously good food and really big portions. I had no problem spending $32 on everything I got once I saw the sizes of everything. I'm going to have lunch and dinner, possibly a few times with the leftovers. read more

I was craving Chinese food the other night, and I remember I saw this flier on boyfriends door at his house and thought maybe I should try this place out. I noticed on the front it said free delivery within 5 miles!! even better! I took a look over the menu and placed the order, the woman that answered the phone was very abrupt and was definitely trying to rush me off the phone. I ordered the Orange Chicken and Chicken Chow Mein, she never told me how long it was going to take or what my total was, she basically just hung up the phone. The food took about 25 minutes to get here, but it was really hot and smelling good when it arrived. The orange chicken was good, a little more breading than I like, but still really flavorful. The chow mein was really fresh and not greasy like most restaurants. I ordered the brown rice to go with the orange chicken and that was really good too, but it came in one of those really dinky containers that holds about two tablespoons worth of food. Overall, I like this place, not amazing, not terrible. Maybe next time I'll go to the actual location and hopefully get better service. read more

Hired a Chinese moving company that wanted Chinese food for lunch, so I found this place hoping for something cheap and decent. Absolutely terrible. 1. They're surprisingly expensive for Chinese food. I think Panda Express might actually be cheaper than this place. They charge $11-$14 for each dish and the to-go boxes seem somewhat small. I ended up paying close to $60 bucks for 5 dishes. 2. The food is DISGUSTING. I'm Chinese and I usually turn my nose up at Panda Express, but this was 100x worse. The filet we ordered was either bad, overcooked or both. The pork on the other hand was somewhat tender which makes me now wonder whether it was undercooked and I now have trichinosis. The fried rice was just doused in soy sauce and almost black from the amount they put in. If I had to decide between this and panda, I'd go with panda all day long. 3. They were slow. I was the only customer in there at 10:30am, and it took them like 25 mins to make my food with 6 cooks. I had one piece of the rotten filet and I now feel sick and nauseous. Not sure if I should throw up or not. Stay away and avoid food poisoning. read more

We ordered delivery from China West Express in Tustin. The order arrived on time. The first thing we noticed was that there wasn't very much food which seemed odd, given the amount we had spent. Upon further inspection we found the small containers were half full (at most). We also discovered that we were missing items from our order. When we called to notify the restaurant of the missing items, they confirmed on their end that items were missing. The woman on the phone was very polite and tried to be helpful. She said they would send a driver out immediately to deliver the missing food. I told her she could just refund us if that was easier, but she insisted they would deliver the food in the next 20 minutes. The missing food arrived 45 minutes later (an hour after the initial order was dropped off). In general, the food ranged from ok to inedible (avoid the calamari). We all agreed that we would not order from this restaurant again. read more

"Hey you crazy hair" My boyfriend and I were treated to a silly delivery guy and decent chinese food. The chicken fried rice put me in the mindset of highschool. My two best friends and I would get chicken fried rice once a week every week in high school. This weekend was the first time I've had such a good serving of it! Ten years of craving something sets your standards high! We also ordered Mongolian beef. This is my favorite dish, so I judge all Chinese food places by this dish. They did an adequate to good job. Ordered the EASIEST and simplest food. Beef n Broccoli lunch special. These lazy bastards cooked my food in a wok that just had shrimp cooked in it, LOADS of shrimp. My food tasted like the persons before me dish, a shrimp dish. It was outright disgusting. The food had so much shrimp in it, it smelled like shrimp! It was sooooo bad, I can't even explain, I couldn't eat it, It looked good, but tasted horrible. How lazy are they that they can't clean the wok and change the oil or sauce w/e. I ordered this with a few co-workers who had the orange chicken lunch special, and they didn't like it at all, saying it was dry. I tried it, that chicken was worse than Panda Express's Heat lamp chicken. We all agreed the fried rice was trash, and the egg roll was like rubber. We came to another agreement that my beef n broccoli was made with shrimp sauce, not brown sauce. How do you mess that up . . . seriously . . . Its beef, broccoli, brown sauce, just clean the wok, I don't want my food in 5 minutes. . . no one does. Cook that shit proper. Major epic fail, I will never eat here again, regardless of other reviews. This place clearly is run by some skimpy asshole. This place stresses healthier Chinese food, which means it isn't unnecessarily greasy and saucy. I've had the sweet and sour pork, their house special stir fry (a mixture of seafood, chicken, vegetables and beef), chow mein, chicken fried rice, and their orange chicken. My favorite by far was the sweet and sour pork; the orange chicken and the chow mein were average. The house special was bland and boring. We get the House chowmein which is THE BEST i've ever had, a large orange chicken, and sometimes the bbq pork slices. Went there last night at 9:30 and they were happily still taking orders. Everything is made to order; no heat lamp mystery meat here. But that also means no combo meals available, only entrees. =( So we ordered Shrimp Fried Rice, Kung Pao chicken, and Broccoli Beef. The quality was a 6 maybe 7/10, which is more than I would have expected at 9:30pm and with such quick service. Shrimp was a little over-cooked, and rice had a bit too much soy sauce in it, but still tasty and my expectations weren't high. Total was $25, which is a bit steep, but acceptable for made-to-order abundance of food that hit the spot at a time of night when everything else is closed. Enough to feed 4 people. I will be coming back, but probably will only order 1 entree and a side, because it was just too much food. read more

This place is good. Fast, hot, fresh and seasoned well and made with no MSG. Mongolian Beef is crazy gooooood -nice pieces of beef with lots of onions and green onions for a well balanced product. They deliver with a $12 min (most spots req a $20 min) and also have brown rice as an option. Try it if you're in the area and don't feel like driving out. The orange chicken had a typical orange chicken texture: syrupy and soft with a slight remnant of the crispiness that existed before the sauce was put on. I probably would not order food from here again. It was pretty bad. All the dishes we had were totally lackluster. I had the honey walnut shrimp, kung pao chicken, cream cheese wontons and pork lo main. The cream cheese wontons were average, which means they were really good and the best part of the meal. The pork lo main was pretty good as well, but didn't have a lot of pork in it. A little oily, but better than the garbage from Panda. My walnut shrimp was just awful. The shrimp seemed 'flabby' and the sauce was runny. The walnuts weren't even very crisp. The kung pao chicken was just awful. Couldn't stomach more than a few bites. Delivery was prompt and friendly. The total for this order was around $50, which is pretty steep considering it was fairly inedible for almost half the order. I ended up throwing out the leftover shrimp and chicken. Hello, Hubby and I had the Honey Walnut Shrimp tonight, What a surprise, we seem to always get this dish, why because it is really good. That dish alone is enough for both of us. We have also tried the Foil Wrapped Chicken which is very good also, it is an appetizer.I believe you get about 6 pieces,but don't quote me. Why not a five star one might ask,the food is really good but I wish there was an an area that you could sit and eat in the restaurant. That is just not necessary just something I'd like. I ordered dinner from China west express today. We ordered 3 entrees and noodles and rice. We payed delivery charges and did not include delivery tip with the bill as we wanted to tip the driver ourselves ( as that way we are sure that delivery person gets the tip). We generally leave the tip outside after the driver leaves our food at the doorstep. When we called the restaurant to confirm our order, the person was rude and questioned us about the tip! Even worse was our delivery experience! We had asked for contactless delivery but the driver insisted on giving us the delivery in our hand. He wasn't even wearing a mask over his nose and Mouth! He then Rudely questioned us about the tip! On top of it all, the food was very mediocre! I will sure not be ordering from them again! read more
