I was going to initially give this place 5 stars last sunday for the friendly service, chill lowkey atmosphere, and delicious food. My review was going to be glowing because I truly had a blessed experience. My wife even agreed and she's a horrifically particular Italian. That was before I got the longest lasting, worst food poisoning of my life. Next day I was puking on the hour every hour for 6 hours, which caused me to have to miss a day of work. Then I was peeing out of my butt for the rest of the day. I had to literally fast for 24 hours to have any kind of relief. Rest of the week was 50/50 diarrhea 50/50 explosive watery stool. Worst I've ever had. I'm still having issues today. Do not eat here. They either don't know how to abide by food safety practices, or they simply don't wear clean gloves before handling food in the kitchen. Or they cut corners and use meat they should be tossing. Something ain't right here. Instead, choose a more reputable local chinese joint like Happy Teriyaki or Emperor's Palace. Food may be inconsistent quality at these places but at least you'll never get sick. For anyone who thinks I'm just sensitive and have a weak stomach: I routinely eat at mexican food trucks where it's *expected* to get sick and I never have any issues. Not a single one. I'm surprised at all the good reviews. I'm always searching for a good Chinese takeout place because the Kitsap peninsula is seriously lacking. Unfortunately I will have to continue looking. The food was very greasy and bland. I couldn't taste any seasoning or spices used in any of the dishes that I ordered. The only things would eat again are the egg rolls and fried rice but those were severely lacking as well. The meat used didn't taste very fresh. So they have some really great food items here. The soups are a hit and miss. The fried rice is really good and taste like the Midwest. Their egg foo young is a little mysterious it doesn't come with classic brown gray, but instead a green gravy that I can't put my finger on. It's kind of peanut buttery, but I like it. The. Moo shu is good, but the pancakes aren't. The classic beef and broccoli has just a tad to much sugar. Honestly I really like the food here in comparison to most of Kitsap county's "Chinese food". I was going to make it three stars because the inside is dingy and hideous. It's dark and super outdated, the bathrooms are weird and old, but the food makes up for the esthetics of the location. This spot is the bomb!!! First, Chinese open on Sunday is an anomaly. Second, they deliver in the downtown corridor!! Third and most importantly, the food is so good! We ordered vegetable fried rice, orange chicken that came with fried rice and an egg roll, and spicy chicken pad Thai. Oftentimes, you say "spicy" and they don't fulfill that request, however it was delicious and very spicy! The orange chicken had saucy orange peel in it too. So so good! The spices and seasonings are so deliciously flavorful and the veggie/tofu options are hearty and filling. Plus, the free delivery and service with a smile can't be beat! This place has been a family favorite for well over a decade. It is traditional Chinese American. So, it's only barely Chinese. If you've frequented places in Seattle's International District, San Francisco's Chinatown or travelled internationally, you will not be fooled. However, if your introduction to Chinese food was found in middle America over the last 75 years or so. You will find comfort here. When we lived in Bremerton, one our favorite things to do was order takeout Chinese from this place and zip out to Rodeo Drive-in to see a couple of movies. When my wife was pregnant with our son, we frequently used their delivery service. So, overcome with nostalgia, I swept by the other day on a trip back from Olympia. I picked up: Mu Shu Chicken, Vegetarian Egg Foo Young and an order of General Tso's Chicken. My wife and son were thrilled! The General Tso's Chicken was more garlicky than I remember and not too spicy. There was plenty of Hoisin Sauce for the Mu Shu pancakes. Finally, the gravy for the Egg Foo Young was much better than I remembered. So, the suggestion, in other recent reviews, that they may have changed owners or management is plausible. The ambience of the interior is past due for a face lift and a little drab. The guy running the front of the house was painfully difficult to understand. So, I wouldn't recommend eating on the restaurant property. The four stars is for consistent comfort food over time, not for authentic Chinese cuisine. Okay so I totally do not know what people are talking about. Let me start off with the fact that they were very nice and helpful on the phone when I ordered my delivery order. Next the gentleman that brought me my order was very nice, plus ten minutes earlier than what they had said. That may not seem like a lot to some but it was huge for someone who was very hungry. Next the portions were huge! After eating my fill, it didn't even look like I made a dent. I had an individual combo number five with potstickers added on; by the way there was 12 of them and a iced tea.( had to order 20 dollars worth to have free delivery, which seems worth it to me.) the quality of the food was great, to the point of it was like I was dining in not in my own home. Tastes were authentic and the food was hot! I will be ordering from them again, the only bad thing I have to say is.... The iced tea came in a container that was made of quality plastic. I've tried Chinese food in 4 different states and 8 different cities, out of the nearly 20 restaurants I've tried this is definitely in my top 3. Chow mein and fried rice weren't my favorite but they were still good. The meats on the other hand were perfectly cooked, crispy, and the sauces were delicious. We ordered from China Wok for the first time last night, ever. I ordered from my phone via BeyondMenu, I didn't even have to download the app; it was great. The interface was so user friendly, online ordering was a breeze. PS. Maybe I got lucky but there was NO delivery fee yes NO delivery fee!!!!!! We're all the way in East Bremerton! Our food was delivered hot, fresh, and gorgeous. In a timely manner as well. THE FOOD: As mentioned before their hella easy menu options, we both went with a combo plate that included rice and two sides. Both our plates were packed with food and great portion sizes. I was worried they might overload on rice and have less of the main stuff. This was not the case at China Wok. I ordered the beef broccoli, pork fried rice, with 2 sides being wings and a cream cheese wonton. It was all amazing. Each part of the meal held its own with great flavor and consistency. Almost forgot: as an appetizer we ordered the cream cheese wontons. So delicious. They come in 8 and the wontons themselves are a good size. A large, tasty sweet and sour kinda sauce is included. The sauce was versatile and amazing, as well. This was such a breezy, delicious experience. And the delivery is no joke. We don't eat Chinese food all that often, and since moving back to Bremerton, we only tried the place down the road from us (thinking they were the only Chinese delivery), and they were okay. Tasty enough. But about a month ago, I looked into other options and found China Wok. Their prices seemed good, they had good reviews, and they delivered for free to our area. Sweet! We ordered a side of spicy garlic string beans, pan fried chow mein, and sweet and sour chicken. I was able to order online - which I loved - and it said it'd be about an hour, which was no big deal. Within half an hour, the delivery driver pulled up in the driveway with fresh, hot food. He was very nice. Our dinner smelled fantastic. I was pleasantly shocked to see that the sweet and sour chicken came separated: fried chicken pieces in the container and the sauce in a bowl. I've never had Chinese delivered this way and I'm impressed! It kept the chicken super crisp, instead of softening as the sauce penetrated the breading. Way to go, folks. It cost about $30 before tip and was enough for two hefty dinners and one leftover lunch. Totally worth it. I ordered a second time, choosing the string beans again, crispy chow mein, and general's chicken. Again, about $30 for the food, told it'd be an hour but delivered within 30 minutes, and very tasty. My only "complaint" and it's just a personal preference so it's not worth dinging the restaurant for it - I wish the string beans were a tad spicier. They're full of flavor and perfectly cooked, but they aren't all that spicy. No big deal. I love that nothing looks or feels greasy, despite being fried it doesn't sit heavy in your stomach, and it all tastes fresh. Definitely check them out. They're my favorite Chinese out here. I've never had traditional, from-China Chinese food so I can't say anything about authenticity (since some Chinese dishes are American creations anyway), but both times left me and my taste buds satisfied and wanting more. read more

I'm impressed! I can only imagine what it would be like to dine in since our daughter brought it to us all the way from Bremerton to Seabeck (nearly 40 minutes away)! I'm rating their food only as I didn't have any contact with the restaurant, even to order the food, I used the online ordering that's offered! It was so simple and easy and I got to review my order, text all those coming for family dinner and wait for their response, change it a few times and add special requests. I absolutely loved the ordering part! We got a TON of food for a very fair price and it was all good! Let's see if I can remember! Egg drop soup is loaded with egg and green onion and had wonderful smooth flavor; Cream Cheese Wonton are super crispy folded triangles, not traditional but good in their own way; Fried Pot Stickers were spot on and delicious, definitely ordering those again; Honey Walnut Prawns are addicting crispy sweet melt in your mouth morsels; Bacon Fried rice doesn't have quite enough bacon in it but the rice itself is cooked perfectly; Orange Chicken is huge chunks of super tender chicken and same with the Sesame Chicken; Pan Fried Noodles were everything I had hoped they would be, probably my favorite of the evening besides the prawns; Beef Szechuan is very tender and just the right amount of spice and flavor; Teriyaki Tofu was a huge hit with the kids, the only empty container we had! I'm not sure if that's everything but definitely enough to know that this place is a definite go to Chinese spot in Bremerton! I absolutely love their Honey Walnut Prawns, that is what keeps me coming back. Unfortunately, the person who works as waitstaff in the daytime is inept at his job. He stands behind you for any interaction, which is extremely awkward, and out of the 20 or so times I have dined in I have had to ask for my soup about 18 of those times. Been going to this place for over 12 years. It's had a few change of owners, but the recipes never changed. I always get the General Tsao lunch special. The Hot/Sour soup is wonderful. Has a kick, but not super hot, and just the right amount of sour. The chicken was crispy on the outside, super moist on the inside. The egg roll was not greasy. Steamed rice was just the right amount of sticky ( and not dry or undercooked). Parking is plentiful out front. FYI.... It's next door to a cannibus store, kind of makes it convenient. This was our Chinese delivery service we used when living in Bremerton and they never let us down. We were able to order no-MSG on our orders which is nice and they were always friendly enough on the phone. Their prices are OK for the area and the portions are generous. We did notice at times the delivery took a little on the long side but other than that no major other complaints could really be said. If you like seafood, try their fish with black bean sauce. While it's sometimes a little inconsistent on the texture and overall constitution of the food, that plate is really good and one of the better ones I've had. Enjoy! read more

But I do have to say The chicken was OK could've been a little better. It wasn't as crispy as it could've been but the tases good flavors great. Every order has been accurate, well prepared and absolutely delicious. We've never eaten inside their restaurant but they are one of the few places in Bremerton that actually deliver, so we order from them online, through beyondmenu. They serve up large portions so you will have cold leftovers to eat around midnight while you're reclining on the couch in your sweatpants. Super friendly service every time. Ive only ever ordered delivery but have ordered well over 20 times its that good! Ive never had anything I dont like though I seldom venture outside of my comfort zone of honey walnut prawns, bbq pork fried rice, pork eggrolls, string bean chicken, spicy pork dumpling in peanut sauce, hot and sour and egg drop soup, sweet and sour chicken and general tso chicken. Delivery is always quicker than expected or told to expect, fried foods are never overly greasy. Tai iced tea is perfect not overly sweet only they could be larger I usually have to order 2 just for me.. theyre THAT good. Only complaint... I always forget theyre closed Mondays and have my heart set on this place then am dissapointed. Im picky with chinese and have tried ALL other places in Bremerton... they dont even come close to this place. I have a complaint about at least 2 items Ive ordered from all other chinese restraunts in bremerton. A quick update. Having been back a few times a few things I noticed worth mentioning. First, Hunan Fish. This alone is worth writing about. Wow. I have found a new favorite dish. Seriously. I had never had it, or even seen it on another menu, and I wasn't going to try it. However, it did get ordered and I sampled a bite... and was hooked! I like it with an order of Honey Walnut Chicken. The two flavors play off each other well. Yum. Next, I am not a fan of bubble tea. Every time I have tried it I have had bad reactions. I don't know what is put in it, typically, but just no. The bubble tea these folks make I like and don't have some weird allergic reaction to. So a triple yes to these folks. Give them a try and don't stick to dishes you know. The food and service here has seriously declined. the last 3 time i went here the food was pretty bad and the service was sub-par. I usually order food with tofu in it, and last couple time it tasted old...like it had been left in a fridge absorbing the gross fridge air for a few days. The mushroom in my food were also from a can. I swear....they were rubbery, gross and tasted of can...that kinda salty, kinda tin taste. Now the service. The lady who is the main server is a nice lady, but she often times will forget things and has to be reminded. As of late, it seems like she doesn't care at all any more. Without handing me a menu she strolls up to me and asks "what you want?"....I reply "I don't know, may I have a menu?". I know that I used to frequent here often, but really? After she brings out my food, she walks away and never returns. No more water, No checking up, she didn't even bring the check. I was there waiting for twenty minutes after I had finished my food. I assumed the amount it would be, put it on the table and left. Like her, I will never return. read more

I appreciate one thing about China Wok: they deliver. Beyond that, I have few compliments to relate. In fact, my experience was quite bizarre. First, I ordered two egg rolls as a side for my wife and I. The man taking our order seemed to understand, but when we received the food we were surprised to find 2 orders of egg rolls in the bag. I like egg rolls, but eight is ridiculous. Second, the delivery driver, in a moment of apparent confusion, pulled up to the door in his car. Literally, he drove over our front lawn to the doorstep. Then, to top it off, he didn't have my credit card information and had to call China Wok to confirm that I had paid over the phone. Third, and final, the food was mediocre. I think that if they spared a little grease, their dishes might not be so disagreeable to our stomachs. I've decide to give China Wok two stars for convenience. The food here was one of the best Chinese food I've had in a long time. We had to wait for a bit, but it was worth it as they made the food fresh. Even my traveling partner who's picky about his food really liked the food. I ordered one of the lunch combo and the BBQ pork was so moist and fresh! I've never had one like it. This is my second time here, so that is a good sign. When we came in the first thing we noticed is that they changed the decor and got rid of the awful middle booths with exposed electrical (one reason we hesitated going back). This change makes the dining space more open and more inviting. We started with the fried wontons and those hit it out of the park for both of us, not to mention the generous portion (8). We ordered the house egg foo yong and the general Tsao chicken. It came fairly quickly and looked appetizing. Quickly diving in the chicken was well cooked and flavored, the broccoli was slightly undercooked. The egg foo yong is the only dish we had that I would not recommend. It wasn't awful, but clearly should be something not featured on their menu. Overall you definitely get your bang for your buck, generous portions and decent food. I chewed one piece so long that I just had to spit it out because my jaw got sore. In addition the teriyaki syrup doesn't really taste like teriyaki. I'd always heard good things about China Wok so I was sort of excited to finally give it a try after neglecting it for so long. So I stopped in a little after 1 for a quick lunch to find that the building was much much larger than I would have thought from the outside. Fairly good looking inside as well, wasn't really expecting that for a place on Callow. I was the only person inside at the time though, so it's big size felt empty. I should have trusted my gut and said that maybe I shouldn't order Thai food from a Chinese place because it's not going to be the best, but I was craving Pad Thai and couldn't resist. I put in for an order of Won Ton soup, Pad Thai, and a beer. Then I watched the server walk to the counter and have a 5 minute conversation on the phone before putting in my order. I'm usually not big on this type of stuff, but in an empty place it was glaringly obvious. Needless to say it took a while for my drinks to come out, about 10 minutes total, but when my Wonton soup hit the table my hopes picked up. Full of veggies and chicken it was excellent. I slurped down the whole bowl. Things however crashed quickly as my Pad Thai came out. First, it was safety cone orange. I was pretty skeptical of this since I've eaten a lot of Pad Thai in my life and had never seen it this color. I was hoping maybe the taste would save it, but no. It was a unflavored greasy mess. No spice. Just noodles and oil. It was the worst Pad Thai I have ever had. Even worse than my first terrible home attempts. So I'll give them some benefit of the doubt. I ordered Thai food at a Chinese place and it was a failure but I should have known better.
