Best Chinese food in Naples hands down. I almost gave up on trying to find a good Chinese place here in Naples but it comes the closest to NY Chinese food as you're going to find in Naples. To preface my review, the four stars come not just from relative experiences across other restaurants in Naples, but from other commensurate family-style Chinese restaurants that I have enjoyed near and far. So with that said, you know the theory where the hole in the wall places always have the best food? If you can find the direct hole into the kitchen, you'll be witness to the pre-masterpieces that come right to your table. Now, I can't speak much for their regular menu of American/pseudo-Chinese food, because you can get that stuff anywhere. However, the magic is in what I ordered on the special Chinese menu. My husband had the Singapore mei fun, but I was excited to hear they had different hot pots on their menu. If you haven't had a hot pot experience, they offer two types at Chinatown Restaurant. The first experience came with ordering the hot pot of your choice. They had a nice variety - from chicken, fish, beef & turnip, and tofu. I totally went off the beaten path and had a salted fish, chicken and tofu hot pot. Our server brought out a bowl with my dish, and a hot cast iron pot. He threw the ingredients into the cast iron hot pot (kind of like sizzling fajitas) and you got a lovely tableside show of all the ingredients being mixed and bubbling around. This dish is served with rice. Now, the second hot pot experience is the traditional hot pot service. I have yet to try it, but the staff came over and explained that they offer this tradition if you call ahead. I'm so going to do this. This is where you have a burner of broth and you can "dump" all different kinds of vegetables and protein and feast as you cook. Kind of like a hybrid of Korean bbq and the Melting Pot. If you can look past the ambiance with non-critical eyes, you'll enjoy yourself. I do have to add that our one-time customer service experience was not top notch, However, the redemption was when staff came over and talked about how we interacted with social media and their restaurant. It then struck more conversation about how salted fish is not typically ordered by the average Neapolitan, and opportunities for take-out and adding their Chinese menu to that. Great information and engagement in what could have been a shoddy experience really saved our night. This place came with credible recommendation from friends, and we plan on coming back to try more items off their Chinese menu that you can't get anywhere else. The pork fried rice, chicken cashew and vegetable Lo Mein were all very good. The dumplings were a disappointment in that the dough was not moist. The filling was nothing special either. We arrived at 8:20 pm and of course were seated immediately. There were six other patrons in the restaurant. Service was good but very rushed particularly when it got closer to closing time at 9:00 pm. The waitress began packing up our food and we hadn't finished eating. In addition, we had to ask for hot tea (normally it's served immediately) and there were no chopsticks. Overall, I gave this place a 3 out of 5 for the reasons listed. Slightly above average but very slow. Minimal staffing and some disorganization seems to be the problem.

I liked the lady who took our order over the phone. The delivery guy was nice and the food was hot too. Besides that this was one of the worst Chinese meals I've ever had. The egg rolls were sour. The deluxe wonton soup for two was yellow and tasted like artificial bullion. The Mongolian beef was way too salty but actually had good flavor. The shrimp and scallops with garlic sauce was inedible. The chicken Lo mein was tasteless, dry and had about 1 oz of chicken. So yeah this was bad. But You know I can see why people like this place. It's super cheap and you get a lot of food. I paid like $40 for everything described above. I just prefer quality over quantity. I'd rather $20 for a decent dish as opposed to $10 for a crappy one. First, I want to state that for those who might not be aware but Naples is a Food Desert in regards to Chinese Food. I have traveled extensively in the US and Canada and no where is Chinese Cuisine so poorly represented as in Naples and for that matter all of SW Florida in general. For example, where else do Chinese Restaurants serve any version of Fried Rice using "Yellow Rice" with Peas and Carrots? Most local Chinese establishments don't even use Bean Spouts in any Dishes. Fried Rice is prepared using Long Grain Jasmine Rice (not) Spanish Yellow Rice! I digress, getting back to Chinatown Restaurant, I recently moved to Naples in Oct of 2018 from SE Florida. Prior to relocating, I made dozens of trips to the Naples area for long weekend getaways. I always stopped at Chinatown to bring back a huge Order for Take Out to bring back home. Not only was their food worthy of bringing back home with almost a two hour drive but it was excellent! There was zero competition and I tried dozens of different local Chop Suey Houses. Sadly, no more. Not sure if there was a change in Ownership or they lost a great Chef who returned to Boston, New York, San Fransisco, or Montreal. Regardless of the reason, it has gone seriously down hill. Still, with all the weak competition they still maintain a presence. Recently stopped by for Take Out. Their Chicken Wings which years ago were a solid "10" are now a pitiful "3". Tasteless, overcooked and heavily breaded. I know that for some very odd reason, it appears that Florida Chinese establishments insist on applying Breading to Wings. Whats that all about. If your looking for Fried Breaded Wings, you go to Hooters, correct? Lets get to their Fried Rice. First the good news, They use Jasmine Long Grain White Rice and don't add those ridiculous Peas and Carrots to their concoction unless of course you order their Vegetable Fried Rice. They will even add extra Bean Sprouts for added crunch if requested, however despite its potential of being the one contender to prepare Fried Rice correctly they drop the ball by preparing their Fried Rice by simply stirring it in their Wok and only adding a bit of Egg, Onion, Bean Sprouts and a good portion of Soy Sauce. No other flavorings added just the base taste of Soy! Too bad they lost their way since formally they had Chinese Take Out in Naples pretty much so. all to their own. If your looking for great Chinese Food in SW FL, you will need to drive 20 miles North to FT Myers and check out these 2 establishments. Ginger Wok and DJ`s Chinese Restaurant both located on Cleveland Ave S. Both serve great Food and Dim Sum as well that's as good as you will find anywhere even outside the area. read more

I really love this restaurant, the tofu is amazing and the portions are good. The pricing is not fair which is why I took a star off the review. I'm vegetarian and wanted vegetable fried rice. When we went the lady said she couldn't do an up-charge and charged me for a full price side of rice. My meal ended up being almost double the price to have some veggies in the rice. All the items on the menu show an up charge of around $2 but the food I ordered didn't have that option I guess. From the super pleasant young lady who took my telephone order to the really fast fresh food I ordered this was a good one. Have ordered food from here many times in the past but this was a whole level or I got lucky. The vegetables were crisp curry sauce delicious & I could identify the chicken. Person taking the phone order was fine, food was nicely packed. The egg roll and Rangoon were tasteless. Nothin fresh about those. There were 2 large mounds of fried rice. Just a mass of over soy sauced rice, no discernible vegetables in it. Beef had a weird taste, like it was coated in flour or more likely cornstarch but not cooked long enough to lose the taste of the coating. Ordered a sweet and sour chicken and they forgot to include the sweet and sour sauce. The second order was a shrimp chop suey and it only had shrimp, pieces of broccoli and cashews in it. Ordered Roast Pork with vegetables, Fried Chicken, Shrimp egg roll for appetizers and the House fried rice. Everything but the roast pork was delicious. I have to write this review to say how absolutely horrible it was. I don't mind a little fat as it is the nature of pork but when I was done taking it off, there was way more fat than meat. I wouldn't even feed it to my dog even though he would've loved it. The taste of the little bit of meat was good as were the veggies. I can't believe the chef would actually give this to a customer. Chinatown has the best Chinese food in Naples, bar none. They are consistently delicious and the service is excellent. In the many visits we have made, we have never had a bad dish, and that is saying a lot considering most of the Chinese restaurants in town serve very mediocre food. The roasted duck is incredible and the sauce that comes with it (a family secret) provides the best accent for the tender meat. Another family favorite is the roast pork which is perfectly cooked. The shrimp with ginger and scallions is also another favorite - a unique dish with simple, yet delicious flavors. Elizabeth, our server, was a rock star - she's very friendly and makes fantastic recommendations and knows all of the dishes very well. All of the servers go out of their way to ensure you are happy. This is a classic American Chinese restaurant. I had forgotten what one is like to be honest. This is how I remember it from waayyyyyy back. Everything I had was really well prepared. Got Korean beef wraps to start. Lots of flavor/garlic. Got the pu pu platter with all the fried stuff you could ever want. Breading was light and perfectly cooked including crab Rangoon. Such a simple item but not greasy like usual places around here. Came with a sterno volcano on the platter to play with (heat up items and my arm). And some item with chicken and shrimp that was way too much food. Took that one home. 2 people, stuffed with another full meal to go for $36.
