This cannot be the place these other reviews are talking about. I went there the first time today Saturday March 6th. Asked if they had BBQ pork to sell by the slab or pound then chop it. The person took me over to a tray with BBQ pork that was all dark looking like it gets when it has been reheated 3 or 4 times and days old. YUCK YUCK. so I left. they had a big take out platter on the counter NOT covered where the customers filed by. Absolutely disgusting. At least if you go there you can see the food before they put it on you plate. What a let down. read more

So this is a big case of not judging a book by it's cover. This place looks run down and even walking in you see the steam trays of what seems like basic fast food chinese dishes. When we moved into the area I'd taken one look and decided not to even stop by, until a day when my braces had been adjusted and I just needed something fast, in small pieces, and generally soft... so I took the risk. So very glad I did! First off, the portions are amazing - we order a two item combo and have enough food for the both of us (we're not exactly light eaters). Last time we stopped in they could barely close the container! The one thing you MUST order is the BBQ Pork - it is seriously phenomenal! They even include some in the fried rice (not as good as the fresh stuff, but still good flavor). Their orange chicken is pretty good, as are several of the other items we've tired - nothing has been bad at all. But man, that pork is really what makes this place get that 5th star. Give it a try, even if the server looks bored out of their mind and the joint might fall apart in a strong breeze, it's value is in the food! read more

This place is a great little hidden gem. I was fortunate enough to stumble upon it one day about 6 months ago while waiting for my son to finish his dentist appointment nearby. Needless to say I have been back numerous times since going out of my way and making special trips to do so. It doesn't seem to matter what time I go, but there are always customers here. Their house speciality is the BBQed Chinese Pork and it's the bomb!! Absolutely mouth watering delicious and well worth the trip alone. The 2 item combo with 2 entrees including rice, chow mein or half & half runs about $7 and is enough food to easily feed and fill 2 people. I have tried their curry chicken, orange chicken, spicy chicken among others, but have fallen into a pattern when I make the trip to this place. That being the 2 item combo half & half with BBQed Pork and Spicy Chicken then adding an additional side of more BBQed Pork. The BBQed Chinese Pork is so popular that you may have to wait a few minutes for a fresh batch from the kitchen because everyone seems to be on to how good it is and ordering it. They have a small indoor dining area, but I would suggest you get it to go. It's basically located on the corner of Avalon and Sepulveda right next to a KFC and Jack In The Box. Why it's called a Deli and thus in that category is beyond me being it has a set-up similar to Panda Express or others and is basically a Chinese Fast Food restaurant. I do recommend giving it a shot though and if it were in a more desirable area and had more parking would be probably give it 5 stars rather than 4. The food speaks for itself. read more

POTLUCK! POTLICK! POTLUCK! This place straight saved my a$$ today! I realized at 6am that we were having a potluck today so I frantically got on the phone and started waking people up asking them what I could do? Please take in mind that everyone in my office seem as if they are part time chefs. They are constantly talking about the different foods they make, they share recipes, and split meals with one another to get advice from others on how to perfect their dish.... really?....lol Therefore, I was going to bring my gourmet dish... called Tostito chips with salsa from our corner taqueria. However, a man beat me to it and made his infamous salsa... FROM SCRATCH! ANyhow, the rice was a hit! Everyone ate it and asked me where I got it. This isn't the best Chinese food I've ever had, but I'm still giving it five stars. I've been coming here since I was a kid. Literally. The first time I came here, I was probably in the second grade. I am now twenty-five, and I still get dinner here every so often. The owner still recognizes me and asks me how my parents are doing. I still get the beef broccoli, sweet and sour pork and orange chicken. She still stuffs my takeout order until the plastic containers are bulging and about to explode. Like I said, it's not the best Chinese food I've ever had, but it's still pretty damn good. The prices have always been great and the service friendly. There's a couple ladies that work here that look/seem angry a lot of the time, but if you're nice to them, they'll be nice back. Of course, it helps a little bit if they've been seeing you since you were seven years old. Lastly, they're open relatively late (9:30 on weekdays, I believe), so they're a good spot for those of us who forget to eat dinner and realize this fact late in the night. read more

This place is a hole in the wall fast food chinese restaurant that serves up a good variety of items. Its been around for many years and I've been coming here since I was a teenager with my mom & aunt. I always get their spicy chicken, good sized cubed chicken with celery and red chili peppers in a spicy sauce. If you dont mind spicy food this is a must have. BBQ pork is another great item and Ive tried many around town and none compare to Chinese Deli's recepie. Its got the right amount of glaze and slight char that makes me buy it by the pound. On cold or rainy days I love ordering their Wor Wonton Soup. Soup is made to order so I suggest you call it in when your about 5 minutes away from arriving. They do cater and Ive used their catering on a couple fight nights and birthday parties and everyone looks forward to me bringing the BBQ pork and Orange Chicken. I have been coming to the Deli for 25 years. My family will not eat Chinese food anywhere else if we can help it, and we live in North LB! This place is the BEST!! Hubby gets the shrimp w/lobster sauce each and every time. I always get the egg fu young, that is an inch thick, with that great brown gravy. Winter time means War wonton soup time. YUMMO! I was going to give this place a try and everything look pretty good aside from the Noddles they were too chopped up. I was waiting to order and I see the worker use his tongs to pick up the side noodles that have fallen to the table (where they place you plate to add the food) picks up the noodles and throws them back in the tray....guess that's answers why it's chopped up. read more

This place has been in Carson for over 20 years. I've been coming here off and on. I love the war wonton soup. They don't skimp on the wontons line other places. I advice you to call ahead for the soup or else you'll be waiting for a while. It's made fresh when you order it. What I don't care for is the chow mien. They use smaller type noodles and sometimes it tastes burn. I'm use to the fatter longer noodles. Parking can be tricky since they share it with KFC. And it's also a small lot. Would I go back here?
