I can't believe I've waited this long to get seafood in Seattle, but I gotta say I'm happy I started my fish eating streak here. Chinook's is a big restaurant in terms of size, and I was surprised to find it empty when I first arrived but just 10min later it was packed for dinner service. The view of the marina is calming and the perfect background for the fresh food you'll have. The portions are quite big, so if you're wanting to grab something sweet at the end you can probably skip the appetizers or the other way around. The calamari had a bed of cabbage and a garlic sauce that perfectly complimented the breading. And don't get me started with the chowder, I honestly wish I had gotten a big bowl of it as my meal haha. The Boston style was incredible, and had so much fish. I would save the focaccia they give you at the beginning to pair with the chowder, it's a great combo. If my meal had ended here I would've been more than happy, but oh my the Alaskan cod they served us next was the perfect way to end the night. The grilled veggies added an amazing char to the sweet white wine marinade from the fish. And the fish itself was so rich and buttery in flavor, it melted in my mouth. The sparkling elderberry drink I had helped cut some of the richness of the fish and added a nice bitter note. It is worth noting that you need to pace yourself since the drink is quite strong! I highly recommend checking this place out, everything from the decor to the service and the food is incredible. read more

I absolutely love this place. I have never had food I didn't love, the cocktails are consistently A+ and the service is outstanding. The menu has excellent choices so it's always hard to decide. Last time I was in I had the best hot buttered rum I've ever tasted. So fun for the holidays! We were a large party of 10, and our server Oliver, managed it all like a champ. He was truly one of the most fabulous servers I've ever had anywhere which just takes a dining experience to the next level. Yes yes yes! If you haven't been here for their oyster tacos:) you are truly missing out. Every time I'm in Seattle I gotta get my oyster taco fix here. Dinner with good friends at Chinooks happened by accident and what a great accident it was! We were on our way to a place in Queen Anne when some sports game took over parking options and so a search of nearby places with no parking hassles and good reviews brought us to Chinooks. First the service was spectacular! We had a server named John who was like having a good friend show us around his own restaurant. He was so knowledgeable and passionate about the menu and was able to answer all questions guiding us to many selections. We started with calamari which was a perfect temperature and batter texture all served with dip on the side. The fresh baked bread that comes to the table was amazing as a start to fill our hungry stomachs. We ordered a selection of food including Cobb salad which was great. Cod and fries super tasty and perfect batter and temperature as well as a cheeseburger ordered my friend which our server described as "a darn good cheeseburger made for a seafood restaurant " The only bummer of the night is white clam chowder was made with bacon. Why!!? The pork in clam chowder is a bad move but we had to skip it due to pork avoidance. All you can eat fish & chips, you say? F-YEAH! My friend invited me with his family to All-You-Can-Eat-Fish-&-Chips here at Chinook's, which takes place every Monday. And there was no case of the Monday blues here! First of all, we sat in a dining area with awesome views of Salmon Bay and all the boats. The place itself is spacious, and I imagine this restaurant being a great venue for celebratory dinners and such with large groups. The room that we were in could even close off for private gatherings. But the Fish and Chips were awesome! The fish was cod, which came with double-dipped fries and a side of coleslaw. I was quite impressed with the quality of the fish they used for this AYCE special. Though the fish varied in sizes, the overall taste was flaky, light and flavorful. It also was yummy with the tartar sauce on the side. The coleslaw was mixed in a vinaigrette versus mayo, which I appreciated and liked better. If you're a fan of fish and chips and are a pig like me, then this is the spot to come on Mondays. AND, it's only 20 bucks! What a bargain! Service was fantastic. Our sever continually checked in with us, and when asked if we could just have more fish instead of the whole plate with fries, he was able to get us as much fish as we wanted. We sat outside and with a beautiful view of the dock! Very relaxing and delicious food. The Boston style chowder was amazing. The Dungeness crab cakes with burre blanc were SO good. Not overly crunchy so you could still taste the crab and not just the breading. They bring you fresh focaccia bread for the table as well which was full of flavor. This place was amazing! First off, the ambiance of the pier and boats is unbeatable. It's not a highly trafficked touristy area, and there's plenty of parking. I was expecting subpar, more cafe experience, but I was happily proved wrong. Everything was amazing! The meals come with bread beforehand, which was out of this world. I got the clam chowder and salmon fish tacos and my friends ordered the crab fettuccine and scallops. Also, our server Jaime was one of the sweetest ladies. She was wonderful. How have I missed this spot before?! Beautiful location on the docks with plenty of parking! The takeaway quick food area on the right side closes shop early but the main dining room is open until 930 on weeknights. We came here for the fresh keta salmon they were serving up and we didn't leave disappointed! We had visitors from out of town and even the one who doesn't like seafood enjoyed her seafood pasta! Came here on a Friday night for a party of 3 at 7pm without a reservation and we were seated immediately. I started with the aperol sunset which was delicious and strong on an empty stomach. The free focaccia is some of the best bread I've had. I got a cup of white clam chowder and dipped the foccacia in it and that could have been a meal in itself. I also got the rockfish tacos which were very refreshing. However, if you are expecting it to taste like Mexican tacos, you will be disappointed. Service was great. Stopped in at Chinook's at Salmon Bay for the first time in a while. While the service and food quality were good, I was surprised to see I'd spent $50 on a single beer and two crab cakes. For the first time in my life, I looked at the menu after getting a bill to see what I had messed up. Although the server had said that they had a crab cake appetizer, they didn't. It seems they sold me a crab cake entree without the rest of the meal for $6 less. There were so many items I could have had for about half the price. And worst of all, for $6 more, I could have had steak and lobster.... It had been a while since I had gone there, and it will likely be a long time before I go back. read more

As I stated in my last review, the kitchen must have had a bad day or someone did not check my portion. I was able to speak to a manager and Chinooks really cares about what it's guest think. They really take mistakes to heart and do their best to improve their product and service. I am certain that my next visit will meet my expectations, as Anthony's team really does care about its returning customers. When a team member reaches out & takes the time to listen to what happened it retains customers. Customer service here is spot on. Man one huge place. Very busy on a Friday but we got in quickly with no rez. Extensive menu of large and small items. We stayed with the fresh salmon, all three choices we're excellent. We three shared a massive and delicious Caesar salad, and finished with the fresh peach desert options. We were satisfied! They have a parking lot so you don't have to worry about parking. We got there for dinner time around 5:30ish, we had to wait for 10 minutes or so. The staff was really nice. Our waiter was Max, he was really nice and gave us good recommendations. They give warm bread which was good. We had the special which was the Alaska cod with potatoes and carrots. The cod had too much sour cream for our taste. The special came with clam chowder, we chose the Jersey chowder. It was okay, not our favorite but it was tasty. Our favorite was the Seared salmon which was sesame teriyaki with cabbage. It was just great with pinkish ginger which was delicious. That was our favorite dish which was an appetizer. read more

We went there for a friend's birthday last month and was very concerned with the overall service and offensive comments made by the manager there. We went to the bar to grab a drink while we waited for a table. The bartender came to us and asked us why we wanted to drink. We placed an order and when our friend asked if he could see the drink menu and the bartender got upset and rolled her eyes while throwing the menu at him which we all were stunned. When she came back our friend asked her if he had done something to upset her and why she threw the menu at him to which she sarcastically replied "it must've slipped" with no apology. She no lander came back to us and had someone else give us our bill when we paid out to go to our table. We sat there and all of us just couldn't figure out what happened to which our friend finally asked the server if he could speak with a manager because we all felt that was not okay what happened and still couldn't understand why she did that. The manager arrived and when we all explained what happened she blamed it on the fact that the bartender is an immigrant and doesn't speak English very well. That comment made things worse because we are a party ourselves that are immigrants and felt that comment was not only offensive but justifying poor behavior. Especially when we're out to celebrate a birthday but couldn't believe the manager would say that. What does someone being an immigrant have to do with anything and to be honest it never crossed our minds. Needless to say we used to enjoy going there frequently but not if this is the type of management they have there. read more

I've been to Chinook's twice! The dinner I had there was really good! This 3 star review is based solely on my lunch experience there! I ordered the halibut and chips and a Cesar Salad! For the money paid, the Caesar salad was way too soggy and subpar to say the least! The fish came out undercooked, with lousy presentation, I had to send it back to make it crispy! I started comparing it to spuds and realized for a tiny hole in a wall, they made it better! The taste here was good but everything that went with it brought the taste down! The coleslaw was horrible to say the least! Like I said the batter was average and they brought it soggy so it felt undercooked. I've (we've) been going to Chinook's @ Fisherman's Terminal in Seattle since they've opened their doors many years ago. Having received exceptional service, quality food, and appreciation from the front of the house, their servers, management, and back of the house ~ their kitchen staff, too! However, just last Monday, November 6th, I treated my daughter and her son to our favorite Monday night tradition of their famous "all-you-can-eat" fish-n-chips dinner. We, as a family and a guest, party of 6 had just eaten there the previous week I spending a significant amount with my typical 25-30% gratuity. So on this night, after consuming a reorder, my daughter simply requested a small box to take (1) piece of cod, and literally 8 French fries. Samuel J our server instead said no and opted to throw the food away. We had just ordered desert, and I, my second Hefeweizen. Samuel discreetly went to his manager, Tim, then Tim proceeded to our table to inform us of their policy. This was totally unnecessary and embarrassing. They treated my daughter and I like we were 1st time guests, abusing their policy. As a result, I, we will never patronize Chinook's or any other affiliate of theirs. As we left Tim tried to approach me and discuss the matter further, of which, I had zero interest in communicating any further. Chinook's was a very consistent restaurant with appreciative staff who deserved their just reward. Hopefully others will enjoy their experiences there. read more

First don't bother getting the foo-foo drinks with the vodka added. Couldn't taste any difference between the regular lemonade and the alcohol drink. The Chardonnay and Sauv Blanc were a waste. My daughter didn't tell me that until we were in the car on the way home. So that amounts to $29 of our bill. Sigh............ The new England clam chowder was tasty. The BBQ prawns just okay. The Sockeye Plank - True Cod were okay. The Shrimp scampi had nothing but butter flavor, I'd pick something else. Ordered the fried calamari and it was very well done. Next came my bowl of clam chowder very thick and good. Our salads were soon delivered! Crab & shrimp fresh and tasty. My wife and I popped into Chinooks for an early dinner after a nice ride down town. It's right on the wharf, and just about every seat has a decent view. We started sharing BBQ garlic prawns - these are to die for. If you order one thing on the menu, order these. For the main course, Fish and chips. I'm british - Fish and Chips is my thing. Fish was excellent and just as expected. The chips - not so much. Soggy is the best description, and thats never a good thing. We capped the meal off with a Rhubarb slump. Waited another 10 minutes for someone to give us water and bread, then probably another 10 for taking our orders. After that, drinks and foods arrived quickly. My guess is that kitchen is not their bottleneck. Servers were very friendly. We ordered a champagne based drink. It was weaker than standard Mimosa. The other one was Rye Speakeasy, a Manhattan-like drink, and it was OK. Chowder (Boston) was excellent. Gumbo OK. The seafood platter is the standard batter-fried fare. Somehow, the batter was not crispy. It is said to be tempura batter, but they just felt like soggy bread. My guess is the oil temperature was not high enough. The ingredient -- fish, shrimp, veggie, onion ring, calamari -- were all good and satisfying. The cole slaw was crispy, cool, and refreshing. I completely don't mind coming back.
