We decided to return to Germany from the San Francisco Bay Area after 30 years of living there. We had accumulated two households and asked Chipman International for advice what factors to consider and a quote. Laura Lynn Miller arranged for a video walk-through of our entire house, every closet and cabinet - also roughly deciding which major items or pieces of furniture we would move or leave behind/ dispose of. She also pointed out all the disallowed items ( a lot, not just medicines or fruit!). In the end our 16foot container had grown to 40 feet. The Chipman moving crew was great, very thorough, carefully wrapping every item, crating paintings and several glass tables. Laura Lynn helped with the many customs and shipping forms so all in all the move was not stressful at all. When the furniture arrived at our house every numbered box was accounted for and we had no claims to file for damages - the Fermont International Shippers team on the German side was just as efficient, friendly and hard working. I found Chipman International through online research. Sharon, our assigned coordinator, guided us through the best move of our experience. This was our 11th relocation but first international move as private individuals. It turned out we needed a lot of expert "hand-holding" to figure out special crating, customs forms and the local bureaucracy to get us to our new home in a Greek village with no street addresses. Chipman I. handled the American end of our move from Australia to California, as a preferred supplier of the University of California. We were extremely happy with the service they provided and also their choice of partner company in Australia. Everything was well-packed, nothing was damaged in transit and the Chipman staff here were very understanding when it came to arranging all the paperwork and an actual delivery date. Our goods and classic car were shipped from Europe to California in cooperation with Voerman moving company in the Netherlands and Chipman International in CA. All contacts with Chipman International were done by the same person (Sharon). All communication by phone and mail was thourough and very responsive towards our questions. I recently moved to California from Germany and Chipman was hired by my organization to move my household. They had a partner company in Germany (Fermont) who packed and shipped all my apartment lugagge. The shipment basically reached USA in ten days and took another week to clear the port.
