Chipotle La Jolla / Del Mar - What Happened to This Place? It's honestly disappointing to see what Chipotle has become--especially at the La Jolla and Del Mar locations. Walking into either store, you're immediately greeted by a dirty, uncapped mess. Every table is filthy with food remnants, and there's nowhere clean to sit. You'd think someone would wipe them down occasionally, but apparently, that's too much to ask. The food prep area looks like a college dorm room kitchen after a party--messy, disorganized, and unsanitary. Not exactly the vibe you want when you're watching your food being made. The service? Horrible. The staff is mostly young and clearly not trained--or simply don't care--about basic customer service. They act like you're an inconvenience rather than a paying customer. Newsflash: customers keep the lights on and fund your paycheck. A little courtesy wouldn't hurt. To make things worse, the app doesn't work properly. Rewards can't be redeemed, even when you show proof like an email from Chipotle itself. And the staff won't honor them either. It's useless. And when you try contacting Chipotle support, you're met with a never-ending game of tag where nobody takes responsibility or offers a real solution. It's truly sad. Chipotle used to be a clean, dependable, and enjoyable place to eat. Now it feels neglected and run-down. If the brand wants to reclaim its reputation, it needs to clean house--literally--and retrain staff to respect the basics of hospitality. Until then, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Genuinely the worst Chipotle I have ever been to in my life. They never have anything and are always so rude no matter what hour of the day you go. Today I went in at around 7:30 PM and attempted to order barbacoa, the staff claims they are out of it for the night despite being open for another 3 hours, and then when I say I'll just get chicken Al pastor they say they are done selling it, despite the giant sign behind them promoting it. The lady behind the counter just gives me a glassy stare and shrugs her shoulders and when I say how could you be out of barbacoa for the night already, just says, "I don't know". Came here on a Sunday night picking up a few DoorDash orders (back to back) and the line was way out the door, with a bunch of other people picking up online orders too. Only because I was going to Trader Joe's today, and had not eaten all day, I ordered a carnival bowl and planned to eat here, as usual tables were dirty, and I was not given a tray, so planned to cover table with a napkin. I never go to chipotle expecting a 5 star experience but this place needs to be shut down, the food looked disgusting i ended up getting no protien and no beans literally just rice, corn and cheese and paid $10 for something I realize I could've just made at home. This Chipotle location is my go-to when I am hungry. However, on 7/31/25, my 5 yr old grandson had a chicken bowl from this location at 3:44 PM. My daughter did not eat anything because she was not hungry and only wanted to feed her son. Me and my granddaughter were in the vicinity. Within 1.5 hrs, my grandson started having watery stool (diarrhea). Tracing back from the food he had eaten that day, we could trace the cause of the diarrhea from Chipotle food. This spot is pretty big inside and sometimes the lines can get insanely long. Got my bowl for 12 bucks today. It wasn't bad, however this is definitely the kind of location where you want to ask for half chicken half steak for your bowl cause they're skimpy. I saw them make a burrito for the girl in front of me and I literally felt bad for how little that thing was. But anyways, if you don't want to get scammed make sure they're adding 2 rice scoops and then specify that you want half of one meat and half of another. It sucks to play mind games with them but her scoops were nice so I'm just glad I got what I wanted. My friend did steak and she only got one scoop, not even heaping. They did get me with the guacamole tho. Make sure you tell them that LAST because they will put it in the middle even if you mention it lastly. I got nervous and just told her everything I wanted on it and she was the one to decide what order the ingradients went on so next time trust I will be acting like I'd ALMOST forgotten the guac for extra measure. Outside of that always get a tortilla on the side and ask for a water cup that just so happens to not be see through and you have your side and drink cover. I also have a love/hate relationship with the vinaigrette so try that if it interests you. Overall, not a bad location and I'd go again. It was better than the chipotle I had in Chula Vista so ig that has to mean something. But pay attention here I'm just sure they have a lot of college student customers and they gotta make the ingredients last but if you're reading this, stay strong solider and make sure they don't scam you before you can scam them And the drinks station is well organized with a properly carbonized diet coke so more points for that! I'll say this though, the restaurant is really big and nice ngl. Also the seating area the rags or whatever is used to clean the tables and seats of the tables smells like its been sitting wet somewhere so it becomes smelly. I go in at the pickup time and there's no orders on the shelf, so I assumed they don't use their shelf anymore due to people stealing orders. So I walk up to the front counter where there's another person waiting for their online order as well. We waited for 20 minutes while the worker in the front helped other guests make their food. I understand online orders may have not been her job, but by then there were six people waiting for online orders next to the register and she didn't even acknowledge us. I asked a clarifying question and she just repeated the exact same thing. Great spot to grab a bite when in this plaza - especially after catching a movie at the AMC since it's open til 10pm. This place was bustling on a Thursday night with a near constant line. The staff seemed calm though and managed the crowds professionally. I ordered a chicken quesadilla (app exclusive) which features three sides. I opted for tomato, corn, and mild salsa. The chicken was flavorful. Melted cheese and flour tortilla is a hard combo to beat. The order was ready quickly as a bonus. Good experience! read more
