I've had the same bad customer experience here 2 out of the 3 times I've tried going here, while I eat at other locations and have understood what to expect at a chipotle that is fully functioning and meeting their expectations in terms of standards in quality and customer service. This La Jolla location should be maximizing on all levels in terms of customer service and quality since they are so busy and located in one of the nicest parts of San Diego but they are not because they are being held back by rude and lazy staff members. At chipotle I believe you should be given the same package deal at any location. I shouldnt have to remember these bad experiences and staff members and judge how my favorite location is better than this location. At this La Jolla location they basically give up and stop working for the last hour that they claim being open. They wait for you to make it to the front of the line to inform you that they "are all out" of all the ingredients that you are paying for and when you ask for extra of an alternative ingredient to make up for what they don't have available they act like they don't understand how to bargain a fair deal and request to charge you extra! After I requested them to make more veggies, sofritas, and black beans (basically all the ingredients I get in my burrito) the rude Hispanic female employee with black hair (only female working that shift) had a crazy attitude trying to say that I was being rude for asking them to make more ingredients!?! I then asked for an extra portion of sofritas since all other ingredients of interest were not available and they said they would have to double charge me!? Thats crazy! I reminded them that they were still open for atleast 30 more minutes and how other locations make the ingredients and replace it with fresh portions if they are still open and don't do this bad customer service move of closing early. I turned to the line of people behind me saying " I guess you'll have to inconvenience everyone else behind me with your lack of ingredients?" There were about 6 people behind me and most except for 1 person left thereafter! It's not right to shut down your business before you say it's closing time, for that's also false advertising! I noticed this location says online and on front door it's open until 11 pm, yet inside the store in person you would never realize this if you tried going the because they seem like the other chipotle locations that close around 10 PM. At around 10 PM they claim to be out of all fresh ingredients and the seating area is closed so you can't sit down and eat! Us hard working late night cuisine eating customers expect you to be open when you say you are! the customer is always correct- I'm not not rude for paying full price and holding back my anger while arguing with a disgruntled worker who wants to over charge and dosnt value their job enough to act professionally or give the customer a fair deal! It seemed like passive aggression because she was arguing with me and not being helpful at all and was going out of her way to be rude. read more

The carry out paper bag was also sealed with tape so I know people haven't been messing with my order. 4.5/5 Barbacoa plate with all the fixings: fajita veggies, tomatillo chili and fresh tomato salsa, chili-corn salsa, sour cream, cheese, romaine lettuce, brown rice, black and pinto beans. This was a lot of food and I split it into two meals. The barbacoa was tender and every ingredient tasted fresh. One of the chili salsas was a bit too spicy for me. read more

I tried to call this restaurant to ask for a side of chipotle honey vinaigrette with my uber eats order, and I kept getting a chat bot. It would not let me get through to the restaurant, and it kept going in circles. Finally it told me that the restaurant did not have the honey vinaigrette although, I know they do since I have been there in person before. Not only that, the portion size is inconsistent with it being way smaller when I order for delivery, which has been consistent as well since I order delivery from here quite often. If you are to order from this chipotle for delivery I highly recommend you don't do it, since you will get a disproportionately smaller sized meal and it will be more expensive to deliver it anyways. Just go to another authentic Mexican restaurant and not this Chipotle. Edit: Chipotle tries to get you to contact them via their website to solve this issue, however it just leads you back in circles to nothing when you try to speak with someone. Do not try to talk to them it is a waste of your time, there is no number to speak with an actual person and the chatbot does nothing. read more

I have been going to this chipotle for a while since the one closer to my house closed and every time I order online and they make me stand there waiting for at least 15 minutes. Then after waiting 20 mins tonight, while there were 6 people on the floor talking ignoring me, I got home and they only gave me a tiny bit of chicken when I ordered double carnitas. Super disappointed with the service at this Chipotle. Workers seem distracted and not on point. Came here before 8 pm and find that the lemonade is sold out when they told me at the counter that there was some. They also gave me brown rice instead of white rice and then told me afterwards. Super annoyed. Parking is also a pain since you're competing with Trader Joe's and the parking plaza parking. I may or may not come back to this La Jolla's chipotle. It's a hit and miss for me. While I love Chipotle I will not be coming back to this location. While I received my food quickly before the lunch rush the music inside the restaurant was way too loud. I had my noise canceling headphones on and I could still hear the music even while wearing them. I couldn't really enjoy my meal due to the loud obnoxious music. This is Chipotle not a nightclub! Second the tables to sit down at inside the restaurant were not wiped down. There were crumbs of food and used napkins. Lastly while my burrito wasn't horrible the cilantro rice that was in my burrito was stale. Overall I love Chipotle but I will not be coming back to this location in the future. read more

So I used the app to order which worked really well but the issue for me was when I got there.. So I thought everything was going to be packed up for me to just pick up and leave.. GREAT! The parking is a hassle so I'll bring my baby in my arms if it takes two trips because I have to get drinks in a separate bag.. fine (is what I'm thinking before I get there) So I get there and no drinks.. no note or anything.. (all while carrying my 7 month old in my arms) I ordered two drinks but I only have one cup apparently they ran out of medium cups so the decided to give me NOTHING.. has I not said anything about it they would just let me walk out with the drink I paid for (shady but whatever) So instead of giving me a large cup they said they can't do that (fine even though who knows how many people walked out without getting a drink but again whatever) I was given the option for a drink of equal value (annoyed especially with a baby in my arms) but hey I got a drink I didn't want.. Then when I finally go to eat they didn't give my salsa that I paid for and had put in the app.. Honestly I felt like I was troubling them by asking for anything.. I was here back in June to eat lunch before catching a movie at the nearby AMC movie theater. Per the usual, I skipped the line by placing my order on the mobile app. Both the instructions on the app and in the restaurant directed people with mobile orders to pick up their order at the shelf. It would turn out that I needed to ask one of the employees at the cash register to see if my order was ready. I'm going to guess that too people were stealing other people's orders. After I got my food, I found an empty table and ate my food. It was prepared accurately just as I had ordered and it tasted on par with any Chipotle that I've visited. read more

This is hands-down the biggest Chipotle I've ever been to, located right next to Ralphs in the shopping centers conveniently near the movie theaters and UCSD. The quality of the food and service at this location was ok. The cleanliness of this location was quite bad (maybe because it was located so close to a major college campus). Not just because of price, but for the small portions, and limited options available. I came in at around 8pm and while in the midst of waiting in line, they announce that they are out of lettuce and cheese. I would understand if they closed early, or near the time I came, but they didn't close for another three hours at 11pm. My fiancé and I decided to eat here at chipotle. The gentleman putting my burrito bowl together did a horrible job! I asked what the difference was between the steak and the carne asada and his answer $1.25. Thanks for the info. So I decided to give it a try and the 6 small pieces I got were garbage!! It had fat and cartilage all over it. The other gentleman had no idea how hot the hot sauce was, so I asked for just a small amount, he ends up drenching everything! I came in today about 11am, to get a bowl with my gift card and I don't go to chipotle that much so I'm not familiar with the prices. I wanted to get double chicken and the chicken wasn't even doubled. Second, in the cashier I was considering tortilla on the side for later but I wanted to hear the price first and I had enough to get that tortilla so I said "Can I please have tortilla on the side?" The cashier rolled his eyes and sighed in a way so I could tell he was frustrated at me. I let that slide, but once he was done getting the tortilla he threw on the table like he was throwing at me. As someone who works in the food service, I understand why he was frustrated at me. It was busy and I didn't tell him right away. But to roll your eyes, sigh, and disrespectfully throw the tortilla on the table at a customer is just plain rude. It took less than a minute to get that tortilla. read more

This Chipotle has got to be the WORST!!! All the negative, one star reviews pretty much sums up the experience at this particular location. First, they don't know the meaning of "extra". The food tasted cold and they always forget to put in my sides. That kitchen is always overcrowded and employees not wearing mask preparing food. The place is way overcrowded. And you now need a code to get into the restroom to wash your hands before eating. This place needs new management. Second, it clearly stated on the door that they're open at 10:30am. 8 of us customers standing outside waiting until 10:45am when one of their employee has to get inside, so they had no choice but to open the door to let us in.
