I don't feel particularly compelled to review chains, but I walked by this Chipotle today, on Easter Sunday, and I saw that they had tragically misspelled a sign informing customers of their unscheduled shut-down for the day. If there's one thing that kills my chubby it's when people don't know basic grammar. Please see uploaded picture in reference to deadly sin. I'm allergic to avocado so imagine my orgasmic hysteria when I found out that others LESS fortunate than myself actually have to pay for avocado if they want it at Chipotle. It's Mexican food; shouldn't it be free? Also--the service at this particular branch is terrible. It epitomizes bad service in DC: entitled wankers with neck tattoos who make you feel like you're inconveniencing them by suggesting they do their jobs. How about you put a fire under it, chief? The food at the location is fine; it's your basic Chipotle. But, the customer service here is poor. The managers here need to get their staff back in customer service school--perhaps take a few lessons from Chic Filet-a. I've witnessed line staff get major attitude when they misheard or somehow miscommunicated with a customer over what to put on top of their food and start arguing with them in font of everyone (raised CPI eta) instead of just re-making the food. Forget about ordering on the app--that has no benefit; it's faster to just do an in-store order. And if you order in advance online, be prepared for the staff to ignore you while you stand there attempting to get their attention because your order isn't on the grab and go shelf. Just generally unfriendly children with major attitudes working here. I try to avoid this store unless I'm desperate for food. read more

While visiting this location today I witnessed the most professional, gracious example of customer service when a manager had to refuse service to a rude and openly hostile man. Chipotle Corporate, please see that Taliah and staff are generously financially rewarded for their outstanding work. This is what happened: As I was waiting for my food, a man entered (Caucasian, 30s-40s, very tall ) along with his large dog. An employee politely informed the man that pets could not enter the restaurant. The man said, "it's ok, I have a permit." The manager, Taliah, was standing nearby and said in a friendly tone, "ok, can you please take it out for me?" The man then stated that he didn't need to produce a permit, and that the manager was in the wrong for wanting to see it. In a calm, even tone, Taliah explained that this was Chipotle's policy. Then, as he raised his voice, he took out a piece of paper (business card size) and waved it quickly back and forth. Taliah remained coolheaded as the man began to yell and became increasingly hostile. He raised his voice at the staff and made all the customers, including me, visually uncomfortable. The manager intervened and, politely communicated that unfortunately, the man and his dog needed to leave and that Chipotle's policy required that they refuse service. Throughout all of this, the staff remained courteous, professional, and polite. To that man: if your permit was somehow valid, then produce it promptly. This is objectively reasonable in a place where food is being prepared (a busy chipotle on a weekend). However, no one is entitled to verbally abuse staff members and make other customers feel unsafe with hostility. And if this permit was not legitimate, shame on that small, odious little man child for both harassing staff AND making it that much harder and unsafe for disabled folks to have access to aids they need. If you're reading this and you are that man, seek help. Seriously. And be grateful they did not call the cops. Thank you to Taliah and staff for acting respectfully towards this man regardless of his actions, and thank you for making restaurant safe for everyone. read more

I went in today to order some tacos. I wanted steak but none had been cut up so I had to wait 10 minutes for someone to cut steak. There was only enough steak for one taco so I had to pick another protein option. Next I wanted queso and the bin only had a bit of crusted over queso. Of course no one offered to get me fresh queso. Lastly, the girl at the check out was taking out the trash so I had to wait for her to finish up, wash her hands, and come back. I just left. Oh the disappointment with my veggie bowl. I swear if I could give them 0 on this review I would. I ordered a veggie bowl. He girl who prepared it was rude and mumbled. I didn't understand her and since I don't come to chipotle everyday I asked her to repeat herself a few times. This only annoyed her more. It was almost two o'clock and the place wasn't crowded so I don't know what her problem was. I ordered the veggie bowl and she skimped on everything, including the rice, like it was coming out of her paycheck. The worst part was that I don't eat meat and yet there was some sort of bone in my food. Pretty normal chipotle with average serving sizes of the meat. I haven't had great customer service here, but no real problems.

I was annoyed from the second that I walked into this place. For one, the location showed-up on Maps, but yet you cannot see the place, because as I discovered, this restaurant is inside some kind of a mall. They have no indication or sign anywhere. Secondly, the mall is under renovation, and there were still no signs to show you how to get to the location. After asking a Security Officer the directions if this restaurant, I was forced to double back down a hallway that was under construction, tripping over wood all along the way. I finally find it located outside of the mall, in some obscure courtyard. Go to open the door? Oh no, this door is kept locked, for no apparent 'explicative' reason. After nearly pulling my shoulder out of alignment, I was forced to walk over to the other door, clear across the other side. Got inside, ordered the steak bowl, and went to sit down at a table. The actually only have one long table, that was either shared by other patrons, or occupied by a large group of students. I had to sit at one of those stand-up tables right next to where the people were standing in line waiting to order and screaming the entire time. I hated being there! read more

When you charge $30 for 2 burritos they should be good. The salsa was missing. Why is there an option for a side tortilla for a burrito, but not salsa? "Chicken" bowl did not have any chicken. This is the Chipotle that you probably see in the news where people get food poisoning. Place is VERY filthy. The staff is just standing around yelling at each other in Spanish not even making eye contact with the customers. Food was not fresh, probably sitting all day and past expiration. Only seating they have are high top stools. You can see through the glass window to s of people smoking just outside the door (not 15 feet away). I be been to tons of Chipotles across the US and this is by FAR the worst! If I were the health department, I would have shut this place down on site it was that bad. read more

I'm writing a review of a chain. Deal with it. I was excited to see this location opening up since it's closer to my house and the Chinatown location is always mobbed. Also, I'm fat. However, the service here makes me want to throw myself into oncoming traffic. If any manager reads this, here is what your customers experience when they come here: *Ingredients are rarely fully stocked. Yesterday I waited almost 10 minutes for rice. Only to finish my order by waiting another 5 for them to refill the guac. This happens ALL the time AND you're charging me extra for it. *Staff will flirt with customers instead of do their job. Go on match dot com. Bang it out. Give me my effing burrito. *Staff will make you feel like you are inconveniencing them. Hello...I am here to pay you for overpriced ingredients so that I can stuff my face in front of the TV before I inevitably feel guilty for wasting my money on something that will only perpetuate my fatty singleness. *Staff will throw out perfectly edible food. Yesterday as I waited for rice the girl decided to toss out the tortillas she had warmed up for the burritos that she couldn't make. Worst chipotle in dc. Always out of ingredients and food is not good here . Would not recommend

I assure you I am one of the biggest Chipotle fans known on this planet...no joke...I flippin LOVE chipotle. I'm almost 4 months pregnant with aversions to almost everything (including Chipotle up until last week). I order my burro online to save myself time since I have to drive here from work (about 10 minutes). The cashier was the definition of bad DC customer service. It was atrocious. She wouldn't response to please...thank you...hello...there's a fire in your hair...she only asked for my name about 6 times. I got my food...the bag was a little light, whatever, I had to GO GO GO and get back to work. I grab my usual 10 slices of lemons (no judging please) and leave. I am already having a bad day since my computer died at work...so this burro that I haven't had in almost 4 months was the one thing I had going for me that day. I look at my burro and I thought I got an order for a child, it was at least 1/3 smaller than the smallest I've EVER received at a Chipotle (pronounce however you like). Whatever...so I take a bite and I realized it was SUPER DRY...the beans were dry, the entire thing was dry all the way through even with all 10 lemon slices. They missed several condiments that I requested. Okay, so I decide to give them one more chance a week later. I order online again and this time instead of the burrito I requested, I got a BOWL...baby doesn't want a bowl, baby wants a TORTILLA. I was also given BROWN rice, I wanted WHITE rice (no racism). Regardless, it was good, but not what I ordered. Will I be going back? NO, H to the E double L, NO! This is the chipotle in union station right? If yes, please continue reading. If no, disregard. This is disgusting. For some reason, don't know why, everything tasted off. The sprite was carbonated water, the rice tasted like dirty water, and everything was just yuck. Took 4 bites and had to throw it out this is really gross. I'm really disappointed. I'm not sure if it's the location or how they are preparing the food but it's not up to regular chipotle standards. Not by ANY means. I ordered 3 meals online so I don't wait in line after work with my mom and girlfriend. I arrived at the exact time and staff was friendly, I didn't check my food cuz there was no line so I thought my food was right. I drove home and when I arrived came to see that all my food was wrong, none of them were right. Some of us are allergic to some ingredients that's why I especially wrote it when I ordered. I called and told them about it, didn't help much I asked to speak with the manager and no answer. I had to drive 5 miles back from home with the traffic and the heat. I wasn't looking for free food or a refund, all I wanted was my burrito bowls to be the way I asked and paid for. They seemed mad and annoyed by me. After a bit of a rough start, this Chipotle has turned itself around and really impresses. To all the other reviewers prior to March 31, 2012: Try this place again! Two best things about this location: The line is never long like the dreaded F Street Chipotle and there aren't a bunch of wild renegade kids loitering inside! Tiffany and the rest of the crew are pretty cool and know me and my people by first name. They also love to joke about some of the new and interesting concoctions that we order! :D If you see Tiffany, be sure to ask for the special, "Austin Miami Burrito!!!" And watch her face right after you say it!!! And it goes without saying that Chipotle should be praised for sourcing tomatoes from local farms as much as possible, serving non-rBGH cheese and natural meats where the word "natural" really means something... and so on. read more

New management or sales team. Have been going to this location for 6 years and they were just plain surly/ungrateful. Because I was given less meat than I'm normally given I asked for a bit more and the young lady who has probably never smiled in her life snapped at me and said 'that will be extra.' I said I just wanted a couple more pieces not a whole lot and she refused and then the acting manager interjected and shot me down. I said what do u have to gain from not giving me a couple of extra pieces of chicken: I've been coming for years and this is not what I'm used to and its not like you own the company. This is my regular Chipotle as it's less than two blocks from my apartment. I'm usually here on a Saturday or Sunday for a quick lunch. When I first moved to the area two years ago, they definitely were on the slow side... a line of five people in front could take ten minutes. They've definitely sped things up and improved things for the better. One thing I love is they give much more generous portion sizes than other Chipotles in the area... nothing like getting more chicken or steak than expected! read more

Worst chipotle ever. There was no line which was great but the food and the service are awful. My burrito bowl was doomed from the start. It got the last scraping of rice which included hard basil twigs. Beans were also at the end of the pot and ice cold. The lettuce was browning and ended up picking it all off. To top it off half my bag of chips were stale. All the while being greeted with the coldest attitudes and rolling eyes. But at least she acknowledged me, the other workers just walked away. I've been a Chipotle customer since 2002 and pretty much think it's solid fare for under $10. I can't do anything about the customers who come here, yelling and screaming in line and talking on the phone while they are trying to place an order. I can't do anything about the customers who spread out and leave a mess on the very limited seating of this restaurant, but I can say the food is good, the people behind the counter were generous with doling out ingredients, and the line moves at a good pace considering how much people request for their burritos and bowls. read more

This is my second Chipotle review - and I prefer not to review chains. So why am I writing it? My experience at this particular location has been nothing but excellent, and I don't understand the myriad of extremely negative reviews. I particularly do not understand how, as of today, this location and the 7th St. location (which is unquestionably terrible) have identical 2.5 star ratings. This location is always packed - like the 7th St. location - but the staff here are professional and keep the line moving. Yes, they occasionally run out of ingredients, but that happens in any high-volume environment. Including waiting in line, I've never been here more than 10 minutes - including during the lunch rush. Overall, this is probably the best-managed Chipotle in DC. Skip the 7th St. Chipotle and walk the extra distance to eat here. read more

As someone who really enjoys chipotle, please take my advice when I say that this is a terrible location. The employees are almost always rude and disorganized. For example, when I walked in this evening, one of the employees screamed that they are not taking walk in orders. Look, if you guys are overwhelmed by online orders and need to shut everything down -- that's a bit unusual but fine. That said, you need to find a way to respectfully communicate that to customers. This location is close to my office so I figured I'd give it a try. First of all, I ordered online and my food wasn't ready when I got there. They kept making orders for people who were in line, but I had already ordered and paid online...it should have been ready, or I at least shouldn't of had to wait. The guacamole with the chips was definitely from the previous day since it was already browning, it had absolutely no flavor either. The lettuce wasn't green at all. Not amazing (obviously) but it does the job - as long as the job is to get as full as possible while overpaying for fast food-like ingredients. I can't say I don't like it. I work and live near this Chipotle location so I go here about twice per week. I consider myself a big chipotle fan so even though this location doesn't have the best customer service I still give it a 4 star because to me if you choose to go to Chipotle it shouldn't be for their service or ambiance obviously but for their taste of food and convienece of fast service. I belive Chipotle is the best example for "best bang for your buck". I mean the amount of food you get for 7 bucks is insane. And it's not even just about the quantity here that I'm bragging about but also the quality of their food. Their food taste so damn good that even though it's more than you need, I still finish every last bite evey single time. I also love how generous they are, You can always ask for extra anything and never get charged for it. My favorite is the Barbacoa Burrito. This meat is so delicious and juicey, but I also like their chicken and steak. I have personally never tried their Carnitas( pork )but I hear great things about it. Although the burrito is the most delicious item on their menue I enjoy their salad bowls too because if you're trying to watch your figure you can't be eating a big ol' burrito every day. Last but not least is their Organic (as they claim) sour cream. It defnitely tastes better than any other sour cream I've ever had. I love Chipotle and their sister company "ShopHouse" because they are innovative with the type of qulaity fast food they provide to people. read more

As a chain food restaurant the quality/taste of food should be uniform for all stores and that's not the case here. Every other Chipotle in the area taste better than this one. I read reviews about customer service and online ordering being bad, but the quality of the food trumps those two! With the area getting much nicer and foot traffic picking up, this store will have to get better ASAP. If you decide to go here NEVER get burritos. "I'm really craving guac, queso and beans" said nobody ever. What else can I say besides it's Chipotle? Overall, this location is usually efficient, has a decent amount of seating and will give you your delicious calorie-induced pseudo-Mexican food at a reasonable price. They can get slow at off hours, so just know if you come here later at night before closing. I usually order a bowl or burrito, and it tastes like every other Chipotle meal I've had. I am a frequent patron of Chipotle. This establishment is the worst one I have ever eaten at. And in fairness and because of convenience I have tried this place three times. Each time the food quality is the same --subpar. The rice is extremely salty. The service is slow as molasses. I have been to Chipotle's where the line is out the door and I go through the line faster. At this place, there could be two people in front of you and you have to wait...wait...wait...and wait some more for them to boil rice and chop chicken and take breaks and whatever else they must do. If you want Chipotle, I would walk the distance to Union Station and get it from there instead. read more
