Fried chicken sandwich with fries
Christina U.

This is a nice, casual spot with an "order at the counter and seat yourself" setup. It's a quick, no-fuss lunch or a laid-back dinner. I came for the traditional fish and chips, and the batter honestly reminded me a lot of KFC's recipe. It was okay--crispy and decent flavor--but maybe a bit different than the classic beer batter you might expect. The hit of the meal, though, was the fried chicken sandwich. The chicken was extra juicy, and it came on a bun with a perfect, slightly chewy texture that held everything together beautifully. This would be my recommended order if you visit. We also tried the hamburger; it wasn't bad by any means, just not a standout compared to the chicken. Overall, it's a decent, reliable place with great service and a relaxed vibe. I'll be back for that chicken sandwich!

Arancini & fritto misto (calamari)

Welcome to The Barlow Chippy! My family and I dined in on Father's Day and you best believe we tried just about everything on the menu. Standout, as expected, is the crispy beer battered cod. Perfect ratio batter to fish, fresh local cod, and a thick tartar sauce to pair. While the arancini and calamari were delicious, their accompanying sauces didn't hit for me. Though my brother really enjoyed the remoulade (horseradish sauce), so I know it's just preference. I love the simple but bright nautical decor and the service/food was relatively quick. Can't wait to come back on a cold day and try the clam chowder!

Fish

If fish and chips were an Olympic sport, Chippy would be bringing home the gold. I'm pretty picky when it comes to fish and chips, and this absolutely delivered. The fish was incredibly fresh, perfectly flaky, and wrapped in a light, crispy batter that stayed crunchy to the last bite. No greasy mess--just perfectly cooked fish that practically melted apart. We made it a family taste test: * Fish & Chips: Easily one of the best I've had. Crispy outside, tender and flaky inside. * Wagyu Burger: My son ordered it with just cheese and a bun (classic kid style), and judging by the speed it disappeared, it was a winner. * Chicken Sandwich: My wife couldn't stop talking about how juicy and flavorful it was. I managed to sneak one bite before she defended it like a mama bear. * Shrimp Appetizer: Fantastic. Crispy, perfectly cooked, and the ideal way to start the meal. The fries were hot and crispy, the tartar sauce was excellent, and even the pickled vegetables added a nice little touch to round everything out. The atmosphere at The Barlow makes it even better. Grab a table outside, relax, people-watch, and enjoy some seriously good food. We'll definitely be back--and next time I'm ordering an extra shrimp appetizer because sharing clearly isn't working for this family. Highly recommend if you're looking for some of the best fish and chips in Sonoma County. Five stars all day.

I was hungry so I'm embarrassed to say I wolfed it down. I sprung the extra $3.00 for fries. In retrospect the burger would have been enough. I love when they shred the lettuce super thin. Every bite hit the spot. Service is always cheerful. The ambiance is casual, clean, and chill.

Good amount of customers and tables, but we ordered to go. Very delicious, but a bit salty. Fries with the house made garlic chili aioli were delicious. Overall 4.5 Overall recommend trying this place. Prices seem a bit high for what you're getting. Large portions, so can share.

Very good burgers, nice staff, clean and inviting space but…read more.. $80 for 3 people to have lunch. I did a little research and that's how much the same meal would cost in Zurich. Zurich. Zurich, according to most measurements, is the most expensive city ON EARTH. Either these guys have the least profitable business model possible, or (more likely) they are greedy AF. Which is fine, but I'll never spend my money here again. Outstanding ranch dressing, though.

Cock Robin was a great lunch stop during our visit to the Santa Rosa/Sebastapol area…read more We ordered a chicken sandwich and the chicken tenders with sweet potato fries. It's worth noting that nothing comes in a combo here. Lunch was about $35. The service was good and the cashier was friendly. You order at the counter and get your own food here when it's ready. It didn't take too long for food to come out. The food was good. Chicken tender breading was a bit strange and did not offer much crisp. I wish they used a different breading process. Chicken sandwich had lots of flavor. The dips were bomb. I enjoyed the burger sauce the most. Some of the sweet potato fries ended up overcooked. The outdoor seating options here were awesome. I loved the back patio with turf areas for the kids to play in the gorgeous weather. Overall, a great place to grab a bite, but the fried chicken scene is so crowded and Cock Robin isn't quite doing enough to edge out five stars.
