    Tasty fish tacos!
    Scott M.

Had some great fish tacos here recently! Nice folks and the tacos were suoer hot and fresh! My favorites in Santa Rosa for sure! I really liked the slaw they put on them! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great spot for a quick bite of your age in the area![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Chicken tenders, fish tacos, zucchini and fried pickles

Came by a few times since we were doing errands in the area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seating is outside with a few tables set up for use.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff was really friendly and you order at the counter. There's a white board by the door which had some specials not listed on the menu in general. The food came out quick. So far, we've gotten fried pickles, zucchini rings, fish tacos, chicken tenders, fish n chips, and fried green beans. Everything tasted good and was cooked well throughout. My standouts were the zucchini rings and the green beans. The green beans were easier to eat, fully cooked through, and breading tasted great. The zucchini rings were also cooked through nicely. They're also quite hot at the beginning temp wise so I had to wait a bit.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Very small spot with only a few tables outside and it's very popular so take out is a good option.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered on the phone and food was ready in 10 minutes. We ordered a fish and chips combo and fish tacos. The pieces of fish are large and nice crisp exterior. The fish taco had a nicely seasoned slaw to go with it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall a nice spot for a quick dinner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Thick soggy batter!

The worst fish and chips ever. Over cooked fish dry and dark batter Soggy crinkle cut chips. What a waste of good money. NEVER retur

Great food, fast service and reasonable prices. Check them out on fb Sonoma foodies or ig for specials for an even better deal! Call ahead or walk in for take out or eat out front. Homemade sauces and coleslaw...everything else is fried and it's all delicious. Clam chowder on Fridays. The fish and seafood are great. I suggest to Try a fish taco or a battered Cajun dog. #shutupandeat

My Oysters and chips and my Jarrett's fruit punch in the other basket coleslaw and cocktail sauce. All were yummy!!

It's been awhile since I've been there it hasn't changed the inside just enough room to order they had 2 tables out there with condiments. I ordered the Oyster and chips they were utterly delicious the oysters were huge of course the breading helped the chips or fries were cooked to perfection nice tan color and had a snap to them plus the coleslaw was separate not like Cape Cod where they put the coleslaw under the fries granted they are separated by the lining. Mel's is very good I'd be back.

Combo 1 fish, 2 prawns, 2 scallops and crispy fries.

I like this place. Anytime I'm in Santa Rosa around a meal time I try to get the Mel's. Nice people working there and the food is delicious. I have always found the fish fresh with a thin batter cooked perfectly. I had a combo with 1 fish, 2 prawns and 2 scallops with fries. My son had 2 fish tacos. The fish was right out of the fryer. The prawns were juicy and plump. Scallops are larger scallops, not the bay scallops. I didn't get a pic of the tacos but he said they were really good. If you are traveling north or south on US 101Mel's is a couple blocks off freeway.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great hole-in-the-wall spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff was super friendly and responsive. Had fish tacos and fish basket and both were cooked fresh and perfectly done.

The fish was absolutely the star. It tasted so fresh and tender and perfect. I absolutely LOVED it. The batter was good, but didn't really hold up to the fish, if that makes sense? I am used to picking up a piece of fried fish and eating it with my hand. The batter, however, did not let me do that because it was not firm enough to let someone hold on to a piece without it drooping and breaking. It was good! But I had to eat my fish with a fork, which was fine, but I love biting into a crispy battered English-style cod. This is a very small complaint though, because I really did love the fish. I did not like the tartar sauce, though. It was savory rather than acid with dill pickles. I would have loved a more traditional tartar sauce. Apparently this tartar sauce is their "famous" tartar sauce, so other people like it and maybe this is you! It isn't for me, though. The fish by itself is lovely. The coleslaw had red cabbage and pineapple and was crisp and fresh. I will definitely be back for some of that fresh fish!

I sat at the bar and was served by the owner of the Pub, who is from the UK. I loved chatting with him about the pub and all the fun things that go on there. I happened to come in on Trivia Night, which gets a decent crowd! For dinner, I ordered the Braised Beef Guinness pie and a Guinness to go with it. The pie comes out steaming hot with a nice layer of browned mashed potatoes on top. There is real crust to this kind of pie. Underneath the mashed potatoes is more like beef stew. Large chunks of tender beef and vegetables are sitting in a delicious Guinness stew. On the side, a fresh salad to go with it. For $24 the portion you get is perfect and along with a good pint of beer this is the way to go. I will definitely be back to try some of their other food!

My wife and I had just visited Abbey Tavern this past weekend, a premier Scottish pub in the City, and we expected a similar atmosphere. However, the moment we showed up, we were met with great disappointment. The Goose & Fern is honestly a terrible place to watch a sports match: there was only a single TV mounted in the back corner of the restaurant, the TV wasn't particularly large, and the speakers had been turned completely off. What a bust. Although the food was decent, especially the Shepherd's pie -- which came piping hot in a small cast iron skillet, the service was downright dreadful and almost non-existent. We never received waters (or were even asked if we wanted beverages), our table wasn't given enough silverware, we were never checked on during the meal, and we were waiting around for 30 minutes twiddling our thumbs before somebody from our party finally went up to try to pay for the check. In hindsight, a tip was not warranted for the lack of service. Overall, Yelp grossly misled me on The Goose & Fern. This is not a spot I would stop by again to watch a sporting match. If you're in this part of Santa Rosa, do yourself a favor and head over to Dave and Busters down the street where they have a bunch of massive screens, tons of beer options, and service that will far surpass what you're getting here.

A classic stop for fresh seafood in Bodega Bay…read more You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The beer battered fish and chips and the calamari are my favorites. They recently renovated and opened up the back building/patio area. It was my first time seeing the new space and I was impressed with how much additional seating was added. We were there pretty early around 11:30 after a round of golf at the links and managed to snag the last available table outside. There is a self serve sauce bar that has all the options you could want- tartar, ketchup, maui sweet sauce, cocktail sauce, chipotle mayo and more. The tartar sauce is my favorite and I always find myself going back for extra. The cocktail sauce is also amazing, with just the amount of horseradish in it. We have had their seared ahi tuna sandwich, grilled rockfish sandwich, fish tacos, lobster roll, raw and grilled oysters, clam chowder and fish and chips. The only thing we felt was a pass was probably their clam chowder. Our faves are the sandwiches and oysters. The sweet potato fries are also really good. The garlic butter is our favorite of the oysters. The lobster roll was a tad over buttered on the roll but was overflowing with lobster. Overall flavors are always good. We park on the side of the road and we always find a spot quickly. There is never parking in the lot. They recently expanded their deck so there is way more seating. I like that they have seating in the warehouse because it is usually less cold and windy there. It's always crowded here but they get the food out pretty quickly.
