Ordered delivery via DoorDash. I ordered quite a handful of things with the intention of saving half for the next day due to the incoming snowstorm. I immediately consumed the 1/4 Chicken combo with 2 sides (beans and Green Plantains). The beans came in a separate container, which I almost mistaken it for some sort of soup. It was more liquid then I anticipated for a side of beans, but makes for a great dipping sauce. The Green Plantains are deep fried and they are big pieces. The chicken is amazing and not dry at all. I got a side of the Spicy Green Sauce (worth the extra 50 cents) for the chicken and it's incredible. I also ordered the Peruvian Fried Rice with Beef, which intrigued me and I ended up saving this for my next day meal. I thought it would be a knockoff fried rice dish that you could get at any Chinese restaurant, but it is made in a unique way such as the beef and the spices that is put into the dish. I also got a Beef Empanada and that's something you consume immediately and you'll regret if you don't order one with your meal. read more

Chirp is a pretty good, very casual lunch spot. The menu is focused in three areas -- sandwiches, salads, and bowls (stir fry or rice). I recently had a chirp chicken sandwich that was hard to navigate -- it was tasty but the sloppy sauce made containing the chicken a challenge. I also had the Peruvian fried rice bowl, which was just average. The chicken was modestly portioned and most pieces were clearly the bits that didn't make their way into another dish (see photo for the sad little chicken scraps that make their way into the "last resort" chicken bowl). For $16 (website prices are wrong, by the way), a better product is required. Maduros (Peruvian plantains) are a good bet for sides from the (once again) incorrectly priced website menu. Chef Torres did not over sell his product, in fact in my opinion he under sold and Over delivered!! Everything that was presented and I was able to taste minus dietary restrictions (no red meat or pork) was Finger Licking Good! Growing up in NY and more specifically in Da Boogie Down Bronx, I have had my fare share of rotisserie chicken from several Latin eateries. All with slightly different flare and flavor and I have a few that I will swear by. However, I must say Chirp makes all of them take a back seat. The chicken from seasoning, to perfect skin, tender juicy fall of the bone meat and flavor all the way through was an experience that can rival the best of them. Besides the chicken the Peruvian fried rice with chicken and the Rotisserie chicken salad, two others that were simply amazing and makes it hard for me to rate one over the other. The perfect grab and go or casual lunch spot if you work in Hudson Yards area! I came here with coworkers and ordered the Peruvian fried rice with chicken and it was delicious. The portion was huge, the food was steaming hot and the chicken was so tender. Make sure you ask for both sauces (garlic aioli and habanero aioli) too! My coworkers got the chirp chicken salad and creamy chicken rice bowl and also loved their dishes. We got our dishes to go and there was barely a wait as they prepared them. Wow, really great succulent chicken with some awesome sides. The chicken itself is seasoned well and juicy with flavor. A bit drier in the middle but the majority is quite good. The sides are really solid and I loved the sweet plaintains and wish the rice had more seasoning but overall really good. UPDATE: I've been to Chirp probably 7 or 8 times since my first review. Service sadly has not improved much since then. What's more, they've become very stingy with their green sauce. At other Peruvian spots in the city like Pio Pio, if you dine in you have access to their green sauce (aji sauce) at the table - basically unlimited. At Chirp, they limit you to one free small sauce container that is half filled! This is regardless of if you get 1/4 or 1/2 chicken! Each extra sauce will cost you $0.50 which isn't a ton of $ more than it's the principle of it. Already spending $12-15 an the nickel and dime you on the sauce! I don't think I'll be coming back here despite the tasty chicken because of the service and the sauce poli ORIGINAL REVIEW (3 stars): TL;DR: good food but service needs work! Saw this place open up a couple of weeks ago so decided to try it for lunch. Ordered the 1/4 chicken combo and a soda. Had a nice chat with lady taking my order and afterwards sat down. There was one customer behind me. About 3-4 minutes later, a plate of food comes up so I look to see if it's my order since no one else besides the customer behind me was waiting for food. The same lady who took my order ("Karla M." according to the receipt) asked me "did you order any food?" and surprised, I said "yes - like 4 minutes ago" and skeptical, she said, "you ordered from me?" and again surprised, I said "yes - 1/4 chicken combo with a soda" - she then seemed to remember and said "your order is coming up" - so I would rate customer service at a D- so far. On the food, portion size for the sides are good - the chicken was also fine. The green aji sauce wasn't quite as rich or flavorful as other Peruvian spots I've had in the city (eg Pio Pio) and though the chicken skin was tasty, the chicken itself lacked that spice punch. They've only been open for 4 weeks so I'll give them a second shot in a month once they've worked out their service kinks. read more

Fabulous. I mean really. Everything was fire. Empanadas (chicken and beef) have deep and complex flavors. 1/2 chicken is an excellent deal with pinto beans and tostones. Chicken is tender, juicy, wonderfully seasoned. Pork confit sandwich is tender with good spice. Highly recommended and the staff was so friendly and helpful. I have always had the food delivered to me, until today I finally came and had a sit down lunch.The tres leches cake is honestly everything. The chicken and the green sauce is why I keep coming back for more. If you haven't tried this food you are not living your best life. Hurts me to write bad reviews but I felt the need to share. Was excited to try Chirp out for dinner. Walked in and mentioned I'd like to have one of their bowls and which they'd recommend to me. She pointed out the fried rice bowl with chicken is their most popular and I said let's do it. This rice bowl was not only a small portion (small meaning smaller than chipotle, cava, Naya, any other bowl spot) but was just full of fried rice and a couple pieces of chicken which was breaded chicken nugget meat. Not only was the bowl not tasty it cost me $20. Just a bad choice for dinner and I won't be going back. If you're looking for a flavorful bowl with a filling sized potion look elsewhere. read more

The beef stir fried sandwich was very dry and overcooked, the only thing that tasted good about it was the soy sauce, couldn't finish it. TL; DR: I'm torn, y'all. If only there were a 3.5-star option.... The whole dish: Glad to have stumbled upon this delivery option. Love that it's quick delivery. Props for everything being packaged well, and in (primarily) environmentally-conscious packaging. The Aji Verde is fine. Nice creaminess and ok flavor. Definitely had better-seasoned Aji Verde in that 1) it just tasted better on its own, and 2) it complimented all dishes, opposed to Chirp's, which morphs how the dish hits the palate. This is fine if other dishes are lacking in flavor, but.... ...the dishes at Chirp are darned good! The Pork Confit Sandwich is one decadent beauty with pork that takes me back to my international travels. And yes to that creamy chicken! The Chaufa? Quite good. I've had better, but this is up there for not being a mom & pop joint. Nice char on the chicken. Well-balance. And I probably would have liked better if I hadn't added the Aji Verde. Howsomever.... ...the pricing. It is in the heart of midtown. So slightly higher pricing for this kind of "fast food" is to be expected. And the Pork Sandwich at $11 is on point pricing for the quality. But $17 each for (essentially) chicken fried rice and (a kind of) chicken stew when not at a table service joint? Pushing it, even in midtown. Now, what's that you say? $17? When you were there the dishes were $15? That makes sense, since the receipt on the bag (which matches the pricing on their website) showed lower pricing than what was charged for online delivery (website also has the Pork Confit Sandwich at $10). I figured "maybe upcharge for the packaging...", but it's the same stuff they use in-house. Plus they're charging a flat $2 delivery fee (and I'm 3 blocks from them). So....why the price gauging? Since the food is primarily on point, and not everyone is as put off by delivery price increases as I am...rounding up to 4-stars. I'll likely order again through my work meal allowance...and may pop in to pay out of my own pocket at more adequate pricing...though don't see myself ordering delivery on my own dime. read more

I happened to be in NYC for a weekend and I was working from my company's NY office near this spot. I obviously searched on Yelp nearby lunch spots and Chirp not only had great reviews, but the photos made me curious. Once I arrived I didn't really know what to get and I didn't want too heavy of a meal since it's just lunchtime and I had to get back to work. The cashier recommended that I should get the pork sandwich if I wanted something not too heavy and indicated that it was his favorite. So I got it, hot and fresh, and opened it in front of my desk at my office. Bruh.... This sandwich was life changing. The pork was PACKED with flavor and I love pickled onions and there was some sort of sauce they added in there that made it in even better. Amazing!! Came here on a whim and was surprised at how much I loved it. Their chicken is so tender and moist whether it's dark or white meat. We got 1/2 chicken with white rice and fries and the quinoa salad (brown quinoa, chickpeas, olives, tomato, and get this....sweet plantains. what a twist! The salad was well balanced between the salty olives and sweet plantains. We thoroughly enjoyed everything and the servings were not shy. We asked the cashier what she recommended as a side and she said the white rice. It was funny because there were so many exciting options, but we did it. Man, it was a perfect partner. What a nice surprise to find this place just around the corner from our hotel! We'd just gotten in to town, my wife and kids were happy to chill in the hotel after a long day of travel, and I ran over to grab food. We got a whole chicken, a couple sides, and it only set us back about $40! I can't express how good this chicken is. There is no room for criticism, as far as I'm concerned. Every bite was flavorful and juicy. I also highly recommend ordering some maduros to go with. They are perfectly cooked. We loved the quinoa salad--a perfect accompaniment for the chicken. We tried the avocado salad the first time, but it was a little bland compared to everything else going on so we passed the second time. Oh yeah, did I mention we ate there again yesterday? The chirp chicken sandwich here is on point. It's not your typical fried chicken sandwich. It's actually rotisserie chicken meat mixed with a bit of green sauce, mashed plantain, a piece of lettuce with tomato on a soft bun. For $9 it's small but tasty. They charge 50 cent for extra sauce. Service is okay. They have lemon water here but no bathroom. Plenty of seatings. So far I like their style of the chicken sandwich. Will definitely be back. I got their Chirp Salad for $10!! It comes with shredded Peruvian chicken, mixed greens and lettuce, grapes, potato, candied walnuts, and jalapeño so aioli with their red pepper dressing.
