Most recently, I tried the Red Hot Chili Pepper and the Genius, and both were amazing and way more than enough food for me. The fish was fresh and the flavors were on point. The Genius was definitely on the heavier side because of the cream cheese. And the last time I came here, they even gave my friends and me complimentary gyoza! Sooo sweet. The service was fast and great! The staff was friendly and polite. Shortly after being seated, we were brought a small dish of onion ring tempura. It was a delightful way to start our meal! The menu was substantial and there were plenty of sushi and non-sushi offerings. I must admit we had a lot of giggles over the special roll names. So much so we had to order the Pain in the Ass roll. See shared photo. It was quite tasty. The special rolls were huge and we shared everything. We're still trying to decide if we thought the pricing was spot on or a little spendy but would come back in a heartbeat. We arrived about 30 minutes before they closed between lunch and dinner. my bf took me here to celebrate and we loved it. the place is spacious and clean. we were lucky they had a discount on their sashimi 12 piece assortment for $29. the uni sushi was $16 for 2 pieces. they gave a decent amount of uni unlike some places that give you 1-2 pieces. i loved that they gave free appetizers while we waited. they gave us edamame and cooked salmon. the sashimi pieces were decently sized and topped with real condiments like kizami wasabi and mustard paste. we'll definitely come back here to see what their next monthly specials will be. read more

First and foremost, I love how fast the service is here; but maybe a little too fast. We honestly felt rushed since we were asked what we wanted to drink before even having a chance to sit down. We decided to order 3 sushi rolls and garlic edamame. Not sure whether we got a bad batch or not, but after eating all out food, I felt sick a good hour later. Our sushi rolls were mediocre, honestly, tasted like premade sushi rolls I can get from Costco or something. Maybe, it's just the rolls, but I'm not impressed this time. The rolls were either too plain or had too much of a mixed flavor, and they came out super cold. Also, we sat at the same booths we were at last time. However, this time the walls that were next to us were dirty with food on the walls. All you can eat that's worth it! The lunch all you can eat is 39/ person and has minimal exclusions. Food: Jessica Albacore had these raw thinly sliced onions with fried garlic on top. They left my breath kicking but worth it. Pain in the ass role was a chunky bite (2 bites to get it down) and comes with a good little side salad In & out roll had a manageable spice from the sauce and jalapeños. You can ask for a side of fresh wasabi - gives the sushi a whole different flavor, has more of a sweet finish. The green tea is freshly brewed from loose leaf- really nice touch. Service : we showed up right at 11:30 for lunch and were quickly served. They informed us that they were understaffed but we wouldn't have noticed since the service was quick and great. The offered us free tempura onion rings to compensate. Onion rings were delicious, light and crispy. Location: in the corner a very quiet shopping center across the street from the golf course. Lots of bar seating and booth space. Parking: plenty of parking during lunch but the other restaurant near by weren't open yet so I'm not sure if it gets really packed in the evenings. My favorite sushi spot in the area! During COVID, we've done takeout a few times. It's super easy to order on their website and pickup at the store. They also have delivery options. Sushi Imari even threw in free salmon sashimi since we spent more than $35 on our order. You can check their Facebook or Instagram page to see what specials they have going on. I usually order a two or three-item combo with the salmon teriyaki, sashimi (chef's choice), and onion rings. It also comes with miso soup, salad, and rice. It's a great option if you like bento boxes since it comes with a variety of items to choose from. I love salmon so I also like the Finding Nemo roll. My family likes to get the Crunchy roll and the Red Hot Chili Pepper roll. According to my mom, the Red Hot Chili Pepper roll actually lives up to its name in spiciness. Parking is always easy to find in front of the restaurant. The restaurant is quite spacious for when dining in is an option again for patrons. I look forward to the day we can return safely but for now I am satisfied with their takeout. read more

I don't emember the last time I had a genuine California roll stuffed with real crab, avocado and cucumber, I can't seem to find them anywhere, Imari Sushi included. Today's "Cali roll" is basically an excuse to stuff krab salad into a nori and rice package. Anyway, I digress. Tonight my guy and I went back to the OC for more inside dining at a terrific sushi spot that's been on our must try list for for a few months. Tonight's visit was super yummy, except for the "Cali roll" - we made a note to stop ordering these until we can find a place that can make the originals. Sake and Tropical iced tea to wet our whistle and then we dug into an order of mixed tempura with an extra order of shrimp. Surprised the shrimp arrived fast, sadly it arrived lukewarm. We ate it anyway. Next the "Cali rolls" arrived, again these were a miss for us. Next the OMG roll arrived, it was delectable, I don't think I came up for air. The OMG sauce which is garlic sauce, is so delish I almost asked for an extra side of it. The mixed tempura arrived next and this time it was nuclear hot...thank goodness, it redeemed our confidence in the preparation. Next time I'll mention the temp to the server. Tempura presentation is always fun, this one was particularly lovely with the shiso leaf sitting front and center. Rounding out the meal was our sushi choice: yellowtail, halibut, king salmon and salmon. The sushi chef gave us an extra salmon and the kitchen sent us a couple freshly made gyoza. We enjoyed all of it and noted that each bite was super delicious not a bit of it chewy. Darn fresh fish and friendly service too. Everything was tasty even the krab salad "Cali rolls" were decent with some wasabi and soy sauce (just not as good as the original California rolls). I've had many chirashi bowls over a couple of decades, and the one I had today was one of the best. In fact, it's the only one I've had that included scallops. The rice was seasoned perfectly. A good friend recommended this place to me and I finally got to try it on a Saturday evening. No reservations, just walked in around 7pm and was seated within 15 minutes. My friends and I were tucked away in the back booth and joked around about us being forgotten, however the waiters and waitresses proved us wrong. Service was extremely fast and everyone was so kind. They constantly checked up on us, topping our waters. We even got a free appetizer - 3 piece gyoza. The place itself is quite small, but it was lively and the workers are definitely hustling and bustling. My friends and I ordered the potato croquettes, chicken karaage, three sushi rolls, and a few pieces of salmon belly nigiri. The salmon belly looked really delicate and melted in your mouth. I am not a fan of this type of texture, but my friends most definitely enjoyed it. Chicken karaage was crispy and juicy. My favorite of the night (even over the sushi rolls) was the potato croquette. It was perfectly crispy outside, but creamy and smooth inside. The sauce that it comes with is really savory. The perfect combination! All the sushi rolls we got were HUGE and delicious. Came here on a busy Friday night. You put your name and number on party size on a piece of paper at the front and wait in the car (or at the front) until your name is called. The wait to be seated wasn't too bad. It was maybe 25 minutes or so. Then we sat and ordered two hand rolls right away with soy paper - one of them modified with no rice because I'm on keto. The server just memorized everything I wanted and then apparently went to go put the order in. We waited 30 MIN for 2 hand rolls - one came with seaweed. So not only did they take so long for such a simple request, but it came out wrong. So we had to wait for the guy worker to fix it, who seemed annoyed when told it should have been with soy paper. It took him 30 seconds to make a new one btw. Then we ate that and waited for the sashimi to come out that we ordered. Everytime we got a new roll or plate of food and would finish it, we would wait forever to get another one: we have never been to a sushi restaurant where we waited longer and longer to eat. Was craving sushi so my date and I decided to give Sushi Imari a shot based on their reviews and needless to say, we were not disappointed. After a nice afternoon hike we were starving and shamelessly ordered 5 delicious rolls. The experience: This was a phone in/pick up order. Everything from the order ready time to the accuracy of our order was spot on. The food: We got the baked salmon, caterpillar, titanic, spider and dragon rolls. All 5 choices were fresh and tasted great - we can't wait to go back to try more! I've seen this place in passing over the past few years and never bothered giving them a try. We came during lunch hour, at the very end of it where you can pick any 3 rolls for 39.99. We decided to go with wango mango, spicy crunchy tuna, and in & out. Each roll was delicious and our host was the best. She gave us miso soup while we waited and complimentary onion rings! I can't give 5 stars because it's just not as good as other places near by. The best thing was the seared black cod. The omg roll was really delicious. The in n out roll was okay, but the fire roll was bomb! Service is quick and attentive. Noisy, open floor plan. They are doing lots of volume here so the fish is fresh, but not sure if it's farmed or wild. Overall I'd give 3.5 stars if they gave 1/2 stars. I've been here a few times and this was the first time I came by for dinner on a weekday. There's usually a 30 minute to 1 hour wait on weekends but there was no wait on a Wednesday night around 6:30-7 pm! They had several open tables and the bar seating was empty. I've only tried classic rolls here like rainbow roll, dragon roll, crunch roll but wanted to try their Finding Nemo roll as it's one of their most popular. I was expecting it to be more special but it really just tasted like an average salmon roll with spicy mayo/hot sauce added. The fish also wasn't very fresh compared to other days. I was honestly a little disappointed & my friend felt the same way about her roll. It wasn't anything special to her but regardless, we still enjoyed our meal. The staff was pretty attentive and friendly. I'd probably give this a place 3/5 stars had it not been for my previous good experiences here. Plus side is that they gave gyoza on the house! Me and my friends came on a Friday night at around 8pm with no wait. This place is right by the new Northgate, and there's ample parking in in the front of the building and the plaza. The restaurant itself it pretty big and spacious, and there's a few TVs that we were able to watch the game on. We hungry ordered, and left with full bellies and leftovers. My friend got baked mussels and soft shell crab (was told the soft shell crab was the better app of the two), and we ordered karaage for the table (which was crunchy and yummy!). We also got a small platter of 3x gyozas on the house, which I thought was cute. This seems to be a common occurance based on the Yelps of this place! We also ordered a Sapporo beer tower and tried the June Special's sparkling fuji apple sake. The sake was sweet and refreshing. It took a long time for our sushi to come out. I think we waited around ~30 mins to start receiving our rolls? My friend received his sashimi within 10 mins, so the timing was a little off. Nontheless, for the mains, my friends got scottish salmon + yellowtail sashimi and a side of fresh wasabi-- super fresh and good for the price! For the rolls, we ordered... -Spicy crunchy tuna: Not sure if they gave me the wrong order since this had no tuna in it lol. I think it was a shrimp tempura crunch roll? Regardless, I wouldn't order this one again - Genius cut roll: I'm a sucker for cream cheese sushi LOL, so this hit the spot. It was topped with crunchy fried onions, but I wish it was spicy - Baked scallop, baked salmon, sake bomb, and 007 rolls: I was too busy trying to finish my own rolls, but friends said these were pretty tasty. No complaints! Baked scallop roll came topped off with a lot of scallops! Overall, I would definitely come back here again! Finding good sushi in Orange County has been difficult for me, but I'm glad we finally found a place to come back to! The atmosphere is laid back, the restaurant is clean, and the workers are super nice and friendly. They close a bit early, so by around 9:45 we were the last party to leave (but we didn't feel pressured by them leave). The sushi is good for the price, but my only qualm is that the rolls took a while to come out. Ordered lunch from Sushi Imari today and it was absolutely delicious. The miso soup was so tasty with lots of tofu. We also had the garlic edamame which was so addicting and we shared the Baked Salmon roll, which I would order again for sure! My husband had the Red Hot chili roll--he said it was not too spicy (just the right amount of heat) with fresh and tasty fish. We also got the Finding Nemo roll with our order (free with $30 order) and that was an excellent roll as well. What a great way to keep customers coming back. This is a pretty consistent sushi spot. I will say that the fish is quality and the rolls are nice and big. The food comes out a little slower than I'd like and the service is just ok. Honestly, the vibe of this place is not my favorite. The lighting inside really bothers my eyes. The atmosphere is just not great and it's not the nicest sushi place. Honestly... I was too hungry to take pictures but my favorite roll was the In N Out roll! It was absolutely delicious, citrus, spice, and flavorful. It was a dynamite in my mouth! I ordered a list of rolls but nothing else stood out heavily besides one of their "non rice" rolls. Overall, service was good. I don't think it's the highest tier but certainly above average. I've been here about 4 times already. It's a pretty chill place to come for sushi rolls. They have a good amount of tables and can accommodate large parties. They also have nice bento boxes and special lunch prices as well. Service is good too. This is a great place to hang out and enjoy sushi and Japanese food. Came in on a Monday at noon and parking was easy to find. The restaurant is a good size and definitely busy (no wait was needed though). Ordered the three item bento (spicy tuna roll, karaage, and gyoza). Spicy tuna roll was great ansalad/dressing tasted really fresh! Gyoza was pretty typical. Karaage wasn't bad, a little too much red pepper powder for my taste but that's just personal preference. I received complimentary egg rolls with a yummy spicy dip which was a nice surprise! I have a very mixed feeling about this place! We were there on a Saturday evening which was very busy but it did not take too long to sit which was good. But once we sat down it took a while for the server to take our order and took even longer to bring it. Although the sushi was good but if you care for cleanliness and ambiance then you are in the wrong place. We sat at the bar and I noticed the dirty lights above our head which some had broken glasses. But the worst part was looking up and seeing a huge cockroach walking on the ceiling which fell on the other side of the bar. I was so grossed out and when the chef noticed that I was looking very disgusted he kept giving us on the house food which was nice but not enough for me to forget what I saw. If I did not see that cockroach I would have given them a 4 because the sushi was good even though the service was not. read more
