We'll certainly be working this sushi spot into our date night rotation. At 5:30pm on a weekday there was nobody else in there. We were seated right away and ordered the dragon roll, tempura udon, and my husband got salmon sashimi as well as other rolls. While we waited for our food to come out, they brought out complimentary veggie egg rolls and they were delicious! Our food didn't even take very long so we were pleasantly surprised they brought this out for us. The dragon roll was delicious and they even threw in an extra piece of sashimi for my husband. The udon was really good and came with tons of tempura that I couldn't finish. I think I'll stick to rolls in the future though. As others have mentioned, the price is slightly more expensive than what you'd pay at other nearby restaurants but I really enjoyed the food here and service was attentive. By the time we left, the restaurant was completely full and there was a waitlist! Highly recommend coming early especially if you're coming in a group. read more

Sad to report that one of our favorite sushi spots has changed significantly. Last night we were seated with no wait, virtually no customers. Our first clue was that the sushi bar cases are now covered in a "wood" finish so that no fish is visible. If you sit at the sushi bar you will not see any of the preparation you would expect from the experience. First thought was, why would they cover it and not let you see the fresh fish? The restaurant was messy, cardboard boxes visible under tables with random items strewn around, things that should have been in a supply room. The sushi was so bad, did not look fresh, cut unevenly and plated in a messy fashion. I only tasted one piece of my roll and could not continue eating any of it, it was that unappetizing. I'm not a picky eater, but this was not fresh fish. Our bill for 3 rolls and 2 drinks was over $90 and I didn't eat or drink after that first bite. My friend and I went for the first time on Friday and really liked it and both can't stop thinking about going back already. We had just started eating and already talked about coming back! I definitely recommend the Golden Tiger and Bikini rolls, they're definitely the first two I plan on coming back for. A bento box type thing, sashimi salad, and three rolls. Yup, all for me-- all of my meals covered for the day . Haha I called in to place take out order because I didn't want to wait around to be seated. No patience today (ha). My order was ready between 30-45min and pick up a breeze. There's ample parking and restaurant is also easy to find. Inside is spacious and clean. Got my food and ready to eat. Overall, the rolls and sashimi salad tastes pretty good and fresh. This used to be Imare, and we were a bit hesitant to try it again since it's now AYCE -- we were worried the quality might not be the same. But hell yeah, it's still one of the best! The quality of the fish, scallop, and hamachi was outstanding -- super fresh and buttery. We ordered the premium option, which includes uni, and every piece was perfect. The sushi is served with generous cuts of fish and just a small amount of rice, exactly how authentic Japanese sushi should be. Our server, Shun, was incredibly kind, attentive, and welcoming -- truly made the experience even better. David is a very gentle person as well , very good attitude. We went on a Sunday at 2 PM, and it wasn't busy, which was nice for us, but I honestly hope they get more customers on weekdays and weekends. They deserve it! Definitely a mid experience for me. I really appreciated the speed of the service and how quick food would come out. (Even though other reviews said it was slow) The nigiri was delicious but extremely thin with too much rice. The rolls and appetizers were not my fav. The rolls had too much garnish and too much rice, the fried appetizers were not very flavorful. The overall was definitely just fine. Will I crave this spot? No. Is it good value? Maybe. I understand the hype. I'm not usually a roll person generally because of excessive toppings and added flavors, but I really appreciated the way they did theirs. Each roll had just the right balance--no overpowering sauces, just well-thought-out complements that elevated the flavors of the fish. I really wanted to like this place, the service was great and the servers were super nice. But the food was overpriced and to be honest, not really Japanese authentic. I'm pretty sure our beef teriyaki combo was beef bulgogi slices. The sushi rolls were really saucy and the nigiri sushi was not as fresh as I wanted. The udon was $20 but the soup was a sweet soy sauce not miso like normal udons. I was disappointed because this restaurant was over 2k reviews with many stars, it's either the quality of food went down, or... If I could give 0 star, I would. They're definitely riding the coat tail of reviews from the previous restaurant here. Don't be fooled by the reviews cause this used to be a different sushi restaurant. The quality of food and rice ratio is nice but what the hell is up with the wait in between the rounds? We did the all you can eat and I could literally count how many people were in the restaurant when we first started eating. The second round we put in, we waited close to 35 mins to get it after waiting around 20 mins for the 1st round. For a place that limits you to 90 mins, getting your food after a 30 mins wait for each round is pretty crazy because they also limit you 10 pieces of sushi per person per round. We've been to many ayce places that have been way busier and less chefs but none of those have taken long like this. Also feels like if they know you're doing ayce, they kinda ignore you until you dramatically flag them down. Honestly if it takes this long on a non busy time, can't imagine what it's like at a busy time. Also I'd like to clarify that it was NOT busy, there were plenty of open tables. The owner or manager ended up coming up to us just to tell us how we stayed past the 90 min at our table and that we've been sitting there for 2.5 hrs (which we haven't been. Maybe like 2 hrs) but we literally got our last/3rd round at the 90 minute mark. What're supposed to do? Eat the food in like 2 minutes? Also we didn't order any more food after the 3rd round/90 minute mark. We were just sitting and talking since it wasn't busy anyways and it's not like they needed the table immediately. If it was busy and we were taking up space, then by all means, let us know but I found it unnecessary that they needed to come up to us and tell us all that. Since this place had numerous high ratings, I wanted to try it out. One of the dishes I ordered was the lobster roll which was a cold lobster salad on top of a california roll with a side of leafy salad. It tasted pretty ok and did not hit the spot. I also ordered the baked mussels which was a little better taste wise but way too burnt. The waiter was really friendly and service was quick. Overall, the food was average for what it cost. FALSE ADVERTISING I've been here twice in the past couple of months, and both times left me frustrated. Visit #1 - Dinner (Premium AYCE $38.95): The food itself wasn't bad -- nigiri had a nice fish-to-rice balance, and the restaurant wasn't even full. But the system was frustrating. The first round was capped at 10 pieces per person, which we were fine with, except those "premium" items took over an hour to arrive. Meanwhile, every roll and appetizer showed up almost immediately. The staff kept circling back, asking if we wanted to cancel the nigiri and carpaccio we were waiting on, which felt like they were nudging us away from the pricier items. We eventually gave up and canceled them ourselves. Visit #2 - Lunch (Classic AYCE $29.95): This experience was even worse. The hostess explained the rules clearly: 10 pieces in the first round, then unlimited afterward. But when we placed our second round, another server told us that wasn't the case anymore. According to her, the "new policy" is 10 pieces of nigiri per person, per round and rolls capped at 16 pieces per person, per round. That's nowhere close to all-you-can-eat -- you're essentially capped at about 30 pieces total. When we pushed back, she admitted the restaurant was trying to make people fill up on rolls and side dishes instead. Extra Fine Print: On top of that, the "classic" AYCE doesn't actually include all the appetizers listed -- only fried items, rice bowls, and udon. Things like baked mussels aren't available at all unless you pay more, which isn't made clear until you scan their QR code. So yeah, calling this "AYCE" is misleading. It feels like they advertise one thing and deliver another. If you're considering this spot, just know you'll probably leave disappointed. read more

We were starved (borderline hangry) and rushed here for dinner. Since we're uncultured home bodies, we decided to take our sushi to-go. There's something so magical about eating sushi in your comfy clothes while binging Euphoria with your bestie. Don't come for me. I ordered the Baked Salmon Roll (shocking, I know) and a side of egg rolls. They also charge 50 cents extra for sauce, but I couldn't pass on a side of eel sauce and spicy mayo. We have been loyal patrons of this restaurant for over 15 years. We went tonight and the sushi portions are extremely small half of what they used to be. Now that it's all you can eat it seems to be catering to that crowd and not to those of us that just want a good sushi meal.. No more Liye shrimp which was one of their staples for many years very disappointing after 15 years. I don't know if we'll be back which is very sad. OK, let me shout out and say I have a sushi place you need to try!! Let me start out with the best reason that I think you need to try. It is that their roles do not have a lot of rice. Me and my boyfriend shared three rolls And order of gyoza, and garlic edamame and after dinner, I did not feel like really full. Not in the way that you wish you'd be full, but like sometimes when you eat too much and you feel really bad and you kind of wish you didn't over eat. And I noticed when I told my boyfriend is that the rose did not have a lot of rice. I actually really love that because you know they were not skimping out on the fish and a lot of protein because the rolls are still pretty big. We actually did not order the garlic edamame. It was complementary. And I am not a raw lover, so I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone but honestly, honestly all of the fish was so delicious. I was very surprised and so happy that I got to try it. All rolls 10/10, gyoza 9/10, garlic edamame 10/10. The staff are also very nice 10/10, and we got our food and a pretty good timing 10/10 I would just say that I was kind of surprised that it was not that busy. I did go on Wednesday around 6 PM so maybe that's why. It's because I the ambience is not very beautiful. since i've been seeing some traction on my april 2025 review, i'd like to share that my previous review was for sushi imari. i haven't been able to try chobop yet. my husband and i stopped by the last weekend of june for dinner, eager to try the brand new ayce menu. we arrived at 8:30pm and unfortunately that was too late to get the full ayce experince. we could have ordered ala carte, but we were more interested in their new offerings so we left. we hope to return soon! read more

We came here for all-you-can-eat sushi and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. We sat down at 8:00 PM, but were not told until 8:15 that the last call was at 8:30. That gave us barely any time to order, which is frustrating on its own. Since time was short, we placed our order right away, knowing our limits (we've done AYCE before and are always mindful of the "no waste" rule). However, the staff made us feel extremely uncomfortable. The server who took our order counted out loud how many pieces we ordered in front of everyone, then asked if we were sure--loud enough to draw attention. Another staff member then came back to question us again, warning us about "wasting food," even though they charge for leftovers anyway. It felt less like hospitality and more like being scolded for daring to order what we wanted. I even removed something from my order just because of the pressure. On top of that, the staff was clearly rushing to close. They started taking condiments off our table while we were still eating. I asked for them back, and moments later, another waiter came and removed them again. Even worse, one server actually took my friend's plate away while she was still eating--he even pulled her chopsticks right out of her hand. At this point, we still had multiple rolls left, but the staff was more focused on shutting down than letting us finish. Between the rushed service, the judgmental questioning, and literally having food taken away while we were eating, this was one of the most uncomfortable dining experiences I've ever had. This place uses pen and paper waitlist that lets you put down your phone number so they can call you to let you know that your table is ready. Pretty convenient for you to go on the other side of the plaza and shop around. Food - Just comparing other AYCE sushi places, this is a lower in quality vs X-Fish and Tomikawa. We got the premium $38.95 selection that comes with nigiri and some premium options. You can order hot foods/sides with a QR code. You get 3 rounds. They limit 10 nigiri/person for the first round. Nigiri was pretty underwhelming. Food also took a while to come out for the first round, but it bothered me that it took us a while to wave down a waiter to put in our second order. Service - I understand if places are understaffed, but I think the system they have here is just inefficient. Our waiter was helping all tables, but there were maybe only 2-3 waiters on the floor at all times. What was even more crazy was that they gave me the bill right AFTER we just placed our 2nd round. We were sitting down not even an hour and it seems like they were just trying to rush us out. Not sure if that is insulting in just my culture, but it seems pretty unprofessional if they are giving you a total of 3 rounds. Overall, I probably wouldn't be back and would rather wait at the other AYCE sushi spots in Orange County. Unfortunately, we found a curly hair in the ginger. The saddest part is that I was already chewing on it, and spitting it out was too late. The waitress who dropped off the bill didn't say anything, talked to the table next to us while her hands were still on our bill, and didn't reply to our thank you. It's okay; I just rewrote the tip amount since you don't care anyway. The sashimi today was presented beautifully as always. However, the fish was cut too thin, which didn't give a good bite. The king salmon was slippery and falling apart, the torched salmon had no flavor, the halibut was rubbery, and there was only a tiny amount of yuzu--like half of the pink tip--for a $100 sashimi plate. Unfortunately, the quality at this place is inconsistent. The food quality is not always reliable--sometimes it's super fresh with good cutting skills, sometimes not. I tried the salmon, yellowtail, squid, fish egg, uni, sweet shrimp, bay scallop, and tuna nigiris. They were so bland for some reason and did not taste fresh. Fish egg usually is highly salty, how did it not taste like anything?? Sweet shrimp only tasted fishy. I also ordered edamame, shrimp tempura, and potato croquette... and it's sad to say that the potato croquette was the best thing I ordered here overall. Lastly, they gave complimentary ice cream: vanilla or green tea. They both tasted like the freezer and probably because it's not covered when prepped for the freezer. The pricing is generous for the amount of food you can get. The only reason I didn't give this spot 5 stars was due to seating. Most seating for a party of 2 is pretty close to other tables. Some of the most delicious sushi, amazing staff, and great dining experiences I've had in the OC! We came here as a big group of 12 for my birthday. The staff was awesome. They brought out two plates of gyoza, two sushi rolls, two plates of salmon belly on the house! Soooo generous!!! Even aside from the plentiful free food, the items we got were so well-priced and yummy. I got the sushi combo for $32 which came with 7 pieces of sushi, 6 pieces of spicy tuna roll, miso soup, and side salad. When we asked about how little rice we had, we were told that it's because it's part of the AYCE menu. Ummmm... we didn't order from the AYCE menu.
