This particular Chinese restaurant is located basically on the corner of Old Kings Road and Baymeadows Road in a shopping plaza. It is your basically Chinese takeout restaurant type setup. Nothing in terms of ambiance and not the kind of vibe you would seek for a special dinner, but overall, it worked well enough for a quick lunch on a Thursday afternoon while working in the Jacksonville area. The menu was what you would expect from a takeout Chinese restaurant. The menu did not take too many chances, but on a positive note, it had the food that so many associate with your typical Chinese restaurant. I have not been inside this restaurant in a long time I was craving egg drop soup. Normally I play on my phone while I wait and don't pay attention to anything else however when I saw two black small bugs crawling on the floor I started paying attention a little bit more. I was very saddened to see the level of dirt on the floors as seen in the pictures. As much as I like their egg drop soup I don't know that I will return until they clean - seriously clean! I will not be going back. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken and it is mainly breading. All pieces of chicken were VERY small. It was definitely not worth the money at all, a big disappointment. The vegetable fried rice had NO broccoli or snow peas, just carrots, peas and onions. It was like regular fried rice. Their fish tank is terrible; I feel so bad for the fish. I am an animal person and there are too many large fish and too small o f a tank for them. Not enough water, some even evaporated out making it even worse. They need to find a new home for at least 2 of the 3 Oscars and the 2 parrot fish wouldn't have to hide in the ship wreck decor. I had to wait for awhile inside for my online order and I knew if I ever did go back (which I won't) I didn't want to see their cruel tank for very long. They should give 2 or 3 of the Oscars to Floating Sea Aquatics across the street, they sell fish and also rescue fish. Those fish need rescuing!! Let's start with this is THE best Chinese Cantonese in the city. I've lived a lot of places in the country and had really good Chinese...and it's not in Jacksonville. However, if you've had the good stuff, then this is your carry out spot. The food is on point and I love that they put the sauces on the side so your food doesn't get mushy on the way home. They don't cheap out on the sauce either. As a hater of beansprouts, they don't do that either, YAY no picking :) The only things I would say could be better is fried egg added to the fried rice and chopped pineapple in the sweet and sour sauce. Homemade teas was really good! I ordered Shrimp and Veggies. I don't like white sauce so she made it with the brown sauce for me. A lot of places over cook the vegetables. I like my with a little crunch to them. It was made just right. Then brown sauce had a nice homemade taste to it. I used to love this place. I have a feeling they changed ownership or management and last night was the last straw. I ordered a delivery and they now charge a delivery fee AND a transaction fee, and then they delivered an hour later than the already long time for delivery. But to add insult to injury, when the system told me it would take an hour to get the food I accepted that, but when that hour turned into two hours that was not acceptable. When I called looking for the food I got the run a round. I had enjoyed this place and the food for years, no more, I am done with them and their terrible customer service. Decided to try Min Garden because the Chinese place I usually order from DOES NOT have orange chicken on their menu and I was craving it so badly! Anyway, so Min Garden saved the day for me. Lol. I figured I'll also get an order of crab rangoons and fried wontons, because it's cheat day and I was craving those as well. Both were ok. The crab rangoons look misleading. They looked so filled with cream cheese on the outside, but one bite and it was just a big air pocket with a little bit of filling. The fried wontons were good, but a little too greasy for my liking. It came with the sweet and sour sauce for dipping. The egg roll was pretty good, a bit greasy as well but good. The orange chicken was pretty good as well. It's labeled as spicy, but it's more of a mild spice to it. I got delivery and the dude was pretty friendly, though it took quite a bit from when I ordered to getting my food. Overall, not bad. Just your standard, typical Americanized Chinese food. Min Garden does have some dishes that other places may not have, so if I'm craving that orange chicken again I know where to get it now. read more

I ordered orange chicken, sweet and sour chicken, and hot and sour soup. Every third piece of chicken had an unchewable cartilidge-like bit of horror. Not to mention the side of fried rice tasted like white rice covered in soy sauce and stored in the fridge for a week only to be reheated and let to sit out for three hours. We used order from this place at least twice a week. The last 3 times, at least one of the meals was BARELY tepid to room temperature, after having to sit in the storefront and wait 20 minutes past the order pickup time because our food wasn't ready. It was a breaded chicken dish that we order regularly. This time, we called to let them know what happened. They told us that the meal was cold because we also ordered chicken wings (does that make sense to you?) and suggested that it was our fault for waiting (as opposed to what?!). Sooooooooo, I ordered the Shrimp egg foo young with chicken fried rice. I've ordered this combination before. I get ready to dig in and I smelled something a little funky. I was like, OK... well maybe with all the smells, something hit my nose wrong. I got my mouth ready for the chicken fried rice and the chicken tasted sour and didn't smell all that hot! I called and told the guy my discovery. He told me to bring it back and he'll make it over. I get there and again explain why I'm there. He opens the tray and examines, but doesn't smell the food.... I tell him that the black pepper is only on the egg foo young and that my problem was with the chicken in the rice. I was eating the foo young, when I noticed the smell from the rice. He says something to cook in Chinese explaining to him the dilemma. I flat out told him I wanted something else... Not chicken, but pork instead. About 15 minutes later, he comes back with another tray. A fresh batch of CHICKEN fried rice and now pork foo young. I told him I did not want the chicken again...he asked me to taste it... handing me a fork. As I chewed, it tasted exactly the same and I spit it into the garbage can. I told him I asked for the pork to be in the rice. He scooped it out and replaced it with the request. Needless to say, I did not leave with the order I initially requested. Now, I have pork fried rice with pork egg foo young. I just wanted to get out of there and I'm sure the feeling was mutual. Then I had to tell him that he owed me money, because I paid extra for the custom chicken fried rice on the original order. I did receive that back. I hadn't been there in a couple of months because the quality had gone down. I started going to Wok n Roll, which was much better. This is my go to place for delivery, and the food is consistently good. I've been ordering from Min Garden for a few years now, and it's still my favorite. I usually get the vegetable fried rice (which has a ton of vegetables in it, and not just tiny chopped up pieces) and a chicken dish.
