Pretty decent Chinese take-out. Note 4 stars only in comparison to other Chinese delivery options, since those standards seem low. Would be 3 against all Asian cuisine restaurants without delivery. I'll be honest, I haven't tried much Chinese in the Hodges Atlantic/beach area, because the reviews generally aren't great and pictures less than appealing. But I really NEEDED some Chinese, and I decided instead of doing carryout somewhere that looked better, I'd try delivery from what appeared most promising that would deliver to me... Hot Wok. Overall I was pretty happy and will definitely order from here again (but will occasionally try to find something I can call great). Firstly I appreciate that they have dinner combos at a decent price (main, pork fried rice & pork egg roll... you can change rice or egg roll type for small upcharge) because otherwise I have to pay a ton to get a main and something other than plain fried rice. Delivery service unfortunately took 1hr 20min, when they said 45min... on a Wednesday night at 7pm. It was the "bad winter weather" day, so maybe lots of people were ordering delivery? Guy taking my order was very helpful as I had lots of questions. Ok, on to the food. Kung pao chicken really good, great flavor, not at all spicy though, included green peppers, lots of celery & carrots, peanuts, couple mushrooms And baby corn (I ordered no onion)... I'm going to ask if they can add zucchini next time and maybe more peppers. Or try the szechuan cocker which they said had more green veg. Sesame chicken disappointing primarily due to how breaded and fried, too much heading and parts were really hard and chewy. Also only 3 broccoli florets, but flavor of sauce was good. Pork fried rice good in that not greasy like many places, rice itself low flavor but the pork was yummy and sweet (tiny cubes), plus lits of peas and carrots. Chicken fried rice was disappointing as was just chicken, no veg. Egg rolls pork & shrimp really disappointing, almost entirely bland cabbage...but fried well and the shrimp tasted really fresh which was a surprise. Homemade sour & souce sauce good. Enjoyed the egg drop soup, a bit of that gelatin thickness but not too much, no green onions if you're wondering. Crispy noodles come with soup are good, but I prefer the ones made of wonton wrappers. Overall I'll come back but will probably avoid the fried chicken dishes and get singe other appetizer besides egg roll. read more

I have been going here since 2004. It is my go to for fast food Chinese. They are always consistent and the food is delicious. I usually order delivery but on occasion I will do a pick-up. It is your typical fast food Chinese, a table or two and your basic you call-we deliver. This is one of the better fast food Chinese places I have found. Good flavor. I love the chicken wings. I tend to order the same things but every once in a while I will add on something else. I have yet to be dissatisfied. Loyal customer here. read more

Good value for lunch. Only $5.75 for lunch special with fried rice. Unfortunately the price does not make up for the lack of quality. The fried rice was bland and the Szechuan Chicken lacked flavor and had zero spice. Szechuan Chicken is supposed to be spicy. Lol. My husband had the beef and broccoli. It was good but it was served warm not hot. We love steam coming out from our food. Lol. We also shared a wonton soup. The broth was delicious but again warm not hot. We frequently order our Chinese dinner from this restaurant. Most of the time we are satisfied with the food but tonight we were really disappointed in the quality of the food. All the fried food was clearly double fried. The cream cheese fried wontons were dry, the shrimp egg rolls were tuff and the chicken in the General Tso was dry. Usually pretty good food, but the last 2 times ordering, their take out food has been bland. Ordered 2 egg rolls w/dinner and they were SO salty we couldn't even eat them. The noodles we ordered had no flavor, the spice in the hunan chicken was bland and almost non existent. The cost to feed our family there was $50, and what a huge disappointment. I went in and ordered my take out. After I ordered I watched the employees walking around eating in between making the food. They had a small child in the back where food prep was going on. NO AC on at all. Back door open. Employees handling food with bare hands. The whole time everyone was eating crab legs and other stuff. Amazing find! Everything we ordered was delicious, packed with flavor: shrimp fried rice, shrimp egg foo young, ribs and spring rolls. I was so hungry and it smelled so good that I didn't take pictures, but it looked as good as it was. I meant to order from New Wok but got confused and ended up ordering from Hot Wok Beaches... unfortunately. I will be as objective as I can. I ordered 2 orders of teriyaki beef skewers, cream cheese Rangoons, and sweet & sour chicken. EVERYTHING I ordered was terrible. The cream cheese Rangoons had zero flavor, had to drown the only one I ate in sauce to finish it. The teriyaki beef skewers were terrible, very chewy and tough with little pieces of very tough fat that I had to spit out. I did still eat most of them, albeit with drowning them in duck sauce. I tried 2 pieces of my large sweet & sour chicken. Pretty typical for low end sweet & sour chicken but the fried part was very soggy and the chicken tasted stale. I threw away all the cheese Rangoons and the large sweet & sour chicken. I won't be making the mistake of ordering from here again. read more

I read other reviews and stopped by. The lady at the registered warm and friendly and she shared her best picks. I watched them cook it was clean amd.all our vegatables tasted really fresh and were bright. I especially loved the lo me in. I don't normally get it but due to the other reviews I did and was not disappointed. The only thing I didn't care for was the wonton egg drop soup mix I've had another places and the texture was almost congealed. I know that other places like to serve it that way but I'ma texture girl and it was just kind of like Snot to me didn't smell bad and I did taste it didn't taste bad but I couldn't get past the texture. Outside of that everything else wad spot on. The one thing I didn't like was really just my own personal preference. I know that all Chinese places with the same and the menu seems same but if you want to try something that's probably a little bit fresher than the best definitely give this place a shot read more

Finding good Chinese food around here isn't easy. This place is pretty good. When we are in the mood for Chinese we order here

Called to place an order for pickup was asked to hold, woman placed the phone on the counter answered the other line and proceeded to take that order instead of taking the orders in the order the calls were answered in. If this would have been a quick 1 or 2 minute wait it would have been no problem but after 4 minutes i just hung up and ordered from someplace else. They have managed to drive me away permanently. They deliver, what else can I say? The food was hot when it arrived and decent. The Hot and Sour Soup was good but they used too much corn starch to thicken it. The Orange Beef and Orange Chicken both have good taste but too much "gravey". The fried chicken wings were excellent! The best thing we had. A solid 3 stars for hot wok. Girls night in and we ordered for pick up. Food was still hot when I got it home. We had pork lo mein, general tso chicken and beef and broccoli as well as some won ton soup. Pork lo mein was a bit gummy, not much flavour and pretty greasy, not a repeat. Won tons were bulky without much else going for them, but the rest of the grub was tasty. A repeat for the convenience and generally decent Chinese take out. read more

Hardly any beef and a rather large portion of onion, and I LIKE onions but... as a complement, not a main course. The hot and sour soup was satisfactory. Their deep fried dumplings, fried chicken wings (old Cantonese style) and all the chow mei fun (especially Singapore chow mei fun), roast pork lo mein are good. Just do ask them to put less oil and salt. Other stir fry dishes are just okay. I'd rather to go Chef Chan for them though. read more

King wok recently reopened under new management... I believe. The old restaurant had some problems and was shut. I reluctantly decided to order this evening and I can say, I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered pan fried dumplings, Mongolian beef, roast pork lo mein, and the chef's specialty, Dragon and Phoenix. Flavorful, spicy where expected, well prepared, excellent ingredients especially the beef! (my experience when ordering beef dishes in many Asia restaurants leads me to wonder about the mystery meat). King Wok ROCKS!!! I will stand on a soap box this evening(and hopefully down the road) and say, I have found my new "go to" for take out Chinese. I ordered house special fried rice. The seasoning was not good. Tasted like brown white rice. I had many shrimp tails in my rice. They have small portion sizes. Ordered food from here yesterday as I was sick and needed soup without leaving the house. Delivery was super fast and the food was really good!! I had the wonton soup the first day and the. Today I ate the Hunan chicken meal and was able to get multiple portions out of it!! It was loaded with vegetables and nice cuts of chicken and the sauce was perfect!! Unfortunately, not even decent food! 1.) We made the mistake of eating in their dining room. Part of our order was served on a tray by a sulky teenager. He shuffled his lazy feet in flip flops over to our table, placed the tray on our table, never spoke a word, never made eye contact and shuffled his lazy flip flopped feet away. Who wants to eat in an environment with a server that is a sulky, disgruntled, bratty teenager. Yes I do have children. 3! And all in the military. If I was his mother and saw that, I would've taken him to the back and put my foot in his ass, while gritting my teeth, talking in a low but fierce tone telling him to get his $**t together! 2.) I ordered the lemon chicken and plain fried rice. I've never had fried rice like this before. Why was it yellow? No veggies, no egg, not fried and yes very plain. The chic at the counter taking our order couldn't be bothered with letting me know what it comes with. Noodles? Rice? F'n egg roll? I had to pry that info out of her and ended up with plain, yellow rice. She also failed to inform me that it's a dish for TWO!! It came with 2 huge pieces of chicken with way too sweet lemon sauce on the side. Weird. My partner didn't finish and took home leftovers that were never touched and thrown out. I don't usually like Americanized fast Chinese food as they typically use poor quality ingredients, the grease overwhelms any flavor, and always leave me with a heartburn. I also usually am not impressed with Chinese food in the states as I grew up with amazing food in Hong Kong. Hot wok definitely blew me away and I had to write a review for it and give credit where it's due. My husband had general Tsos chicken and I had the Mongolian beef. Both dishes were flavorful and absolutely delicious and The Mongolian beef had lots of vegetables which I was surprised by since most Chinese restaurants serve dished bombarded with nothing but questionable meat and sauce. The meat here didn't taste fake like they usually are at other Chinese restaurants, the meal didn't leave me wanting to hurl it all up or give me heartburn (which applies to pretty much every Chinese American restaurant I've tried) I wish I lived in Jacksonville so I can make this my regular restaurant.
