Decent food with a good price, I should've got no complaint, but just recently sometimes the meat in bulgogi entrees is less than months ago... despite of that, every thing is good with the price. Check your order before you leave!! Make sure you get a receipt. On many occasions, I have requested more vegetables than rice and get a plate full of rice. The last 3 orders I requested 1/2 half plate of vegetables. The order was correct the first 2 times. Today, not only did I not receive the 1/2 plate of vegetables I received brown rice instead of steamed and no receipt. I finally call to inform the restaurant of the incorrect order, however, I won't the meal won't be replaced nor will I receive a refund because I don't have a receipt. A college student's dream restaurant. Far from high end Asian food, but it's super cheap, and you get a lot. It's also open til 4am, which is often a life saver for those of us who stay up late. Sometimes my fiancee and I will go there after midnight during the week, get a meal, and play some games at the table. It's fairly dead for eating in at those times, so we can be there for a few hours, undisturbed, as late night seems to be mostly carry out and delivery. I haven't had anything there that I didn't like. I usually get the Chicken Katsu, or Teriyaki Chicken, but the Teriyaki Steak and the Korean Tofu are decent as well. Their menu has changed multiple times since they opened years ago. They had Korean fusion tacos for a while, which I thought were really good, but I guess they didn't sell well. They only lasted a couple years. They recently took edamame off the menu, as well, which sucks as I bought it every time I went there. You can eat even cheaper here if you use their coupons. I always do pickup, and a coupon flyer comes with it. One of the coupons gives you a second entree for free if you buy a drink. Depending on what you get, this ends up getting you two entrees and a drink for like $8-10. And I dont generally eat an entire entree in one sitting (It's a TON of rice, very filling). So this could generally end up as 3 separate meals for me. And since you get a coupon flyer every time you carry out, you can just keep using this option for super cheap food. Take Choo Choo's for what it is. mid level asian food at a super cheap price, and you'll end up happy. If you want better asian food, go somewhere else where you'll pay a few more bucks. read more

I have never sent food back before, but I had to this time. There was a RUBBER GLOVE in my food!!! (Looked inside out, so I'm guessing it was used...) There didn't seem to be much of a concern when I brought it back to the counter. They tried to make me a new plate, but I asked for my money back instead. We used to come to Choo Choo all the time and they've always had a problem with greeting people when they came in. We've always had to just stand there and wait for them to see us to take our order. The food is mediocre and the service is trash. We stood right in front of the cashier with 4 people behind the counter for 5 minutes and no one said a word to us. We turned around and left. We called and asked for the manager and when we told him what happened, he didn't care to apologize or say anything about fixing it. And then he just hung up. I love that they're open late! Not bad for a small japanese restaurant. Their katsu is a little different and less flaky than other places i've had. Still good though! I was disappointed in their shrimp tempura- it was more like fried butterfly shrimp than actual japanese tempura. Their gyoza and zucchini tempura fries appetizers are reeally good!! I just got through having a snack lunch here and I must say, this place takes the prize for most pathetic meal I have had at a restaurant so far this year. I got the K1 and K2 tacos, bulgogi and some spicey pork. The store bought tortillas were the highlight. No more than 3 pieces of meat the size of a dime in each. Even the lettuce was scant. I rolled up the tacos with fillings and ended up being about the diameter of a quarter. That's about what these things should cost, but were actually 7 times that. I will not be returning. read more

i don't care if their food is bad for you, too greasy, or whatever, because i lived off of choo choo back in undergrad and when i tasted it today (3 years after graduating), i almost cried out of nostalgia. i love the yellow sauce on their rice. it's the best thing on earth, especially after drinking. they are open until after the bars/clubs close, so this was the place i headed to after a night out. waffle house's got nothing on this goodness. it's not the cheapest food (7-8 bucks per entree in average) but it's A LOT of food. i could never finish my plate. my favorite is the ribeye steak entree (more expensive than regular steak, but better meat). their tacos are also very delicious as well. i'm sure you've already tried choo choo if you go to uga, so i don't have to recommend you to try this place. but you should go again... it's too late to look back and regret not going more often 3 years later :'( read more

A friend recommended this place as pretty good, but it came with a warning of possible bad gas side effects. So I'll start there. The service was crap, the cashier dude was eating something while taking our order... Gross. The sauce that it came with was unidentifiable and bland, labeled as "yellow sauce" I couldn't even tell what spices were in it. It was yellow though. And it left a yellow stain on the white table when I spilled it (sorry guys, I have these bad fingers). The fried rice was boring, no veggies or egg, I had to put soy, sriracha AND mix my bulgogi with it to get it to taste. The best part was that my friend was right about his warning, and I had to roll the windows down on the way home so my husband and I didn't kill each other. Just the ticket. Been going there for years. It's a heaven-sent student-friendly casual place. The frequent turn-over in staff would explain the occasional inconsistencies. There are ups and downs: improved quality in vegetables but no more fusion tacos. Nothing fancy about this place, everything is pretty good, they deliver and they're open real late. Parking is never a problem and if you call ahead, you can pick up your order at the drive thru window. The gimmick is in the variety of sauces. Kids go crazy for the yellow sauce. Just as delicious as I remember! I got the teriyaki chicken plate. They only give 2 yellow sauce and 1 extra teriyaki, I was worried this wouldn't be enough sauce but it was plenty. With covid, if you order online they make you go to the drive they to pick it up--minus one star because I walked in not knowing there was a drive thru, no signs saying pick up at window, so I went inside and they told me I needed to go get back in my car and go to the drive thru, they wouldn't just give me my order to my face. That was stupid. But thankfully the food was delicious. People need to stop giving terrible reviews, you need to know that the only things to get here are teriyaki bowls or plates, chicken or steak. I'm not sure I'd go shrimp. Can't stand up for anything else they make here, I would say possibly suspect, but they do a damn good job on the teriyaki plate and yellow sauce. Got takeout here last night. I ordered the "hibachi shrimp entree," total was just under $7.00. Apparently you can choose three sauces to go with it and the girl on the phone just asked "normal sauces?" and I wasn't really familiar with them so I just said "yes." So I went and picked up the food, brought it home and opened up the styrofoam box to find a mountain of fried rice, three sauce cups, and a small amount of shrimp and vegetables. I didn't expect to get a lot of shrimp as it is more expensive, but I also didn't expect to get stiffed so much on the vegetables. It was mostly cabbage, pretty low-quality as far as hibachi veggies go. OF course they try to make you think you got your money's worth with the rice, like every other Asian takeout place. "Normal sauces" evidently means two yellow sauces that are similar to popular hibachi yum-yum sauce and something that was almost pure soy sauce, but it had something floating in it, minced garlic maybe. Everything tasted very mediocre, nothing really noteworthy at all. However, I suspect that the shrimp may have been old, dirty, or undercooked, as I'm having some GI issues today, the details of which I will spare you. I can't say that it was certainly Choo Choo that did this, as I drank a fair bit last night as well, but I normally have an iron stomach and if I were to guess I'd say it was the shellfish. Two stars, giving them the benefit of the doubt as far as the foodborne illness goes. Still probably won't eat here again, even though I live right next to it. read more

Cho Cho is certainly not up to the standards of Inoko's but its worth a stop for lunch if you're in the area. The menu is similar to Inoko's but the quality isn't the same. There isn't a lot of room inside the restaurant if they are overly busy so I also recommend to-go ordering. Load up on the white sauce!! read more

When I moved to Georgia really expected to find no good authentic ethnic foods. And these expectations were met at Choo Choo. Coming from the Washington DC area where there is a high Korean population several miles south of the district (and having traveled to Korea), I have been spoiled with the authentic Korean BBQ, where they bbq everything fresh in front of you on charcoal, and other ridiculously delicious dishes such as galbi, spicy chicken, soondubu (my personal favorite), seafood pancake, bibimbap, fresh panchan, etc. I'm pretty close to giving up my search for legit Korean food. My philosophy when it comes to restaurants who attempt to serve more than one "ethnicity" of food (for example, Choo Choo tries for Japanese and Korean food) is that both styles can't be done well. Or as some people may put it, "Jack of all trades but master of none". So don't go to Choo Choo if you want legit Korean or Japanese food. That being said, while Choo Choo is not the authentic Korean I was looking for, it was decent if you're looking for food and just want to eat. Pretty generic, and they give you large portions. Really nothing to write home about but good if you want generic mall-style asian food. read more
