I used to come to this place some years back when kids were little and loved it! My daughters came to visit with their boyfriends and husbannd and we thought a good idea to revisit this place that had such good food for the price. First of all for it being valentines day it was pretty empty, that should have been a red flag. we ordered our food which took quite a long time to get our order taken, after over An hour we got our food. Skimpy parrillada for one, never in my life have I gone to an Argentine restaurant and gotten so little food for a parrillada. We complained that there was food missing from the parrillada according to what the menu was saying.The server brought Oscar the owner and his reaction was unacceptable! He talked down to us and belittled us, he for sure has anger issues and his employees seemed to be frightened of him. He has a big male argentine ego and does not know how to deal with customers.I was very disappointed with his reaction and how he handled things. I will never set foot in this place and would not recommend it to no one!! Oscar need therapy. I came here 2 years ago with my husband and we ordered to go and we enjoyed the food ... Tried it again today with my family and it was a totally different experience. Lastly , the owner was a nice gentleman however when we asked if items could be replaced for other sides he mentioned it would be an up charge and provided no alternatives. They also brought an extra drink by accident and we were still charged for it , I must add the natural juice drink are not natural at all they're just flavored water .my mom ordered a chicken breast only and this cost $40 , if that doesn't scream overpriced I don't know what does .. So disappointed with our experience. We used to come here often in the early 2000s and LOVED the place. We were excited to return with our extended family to share our Argentinian food/culture. Service was slow although our server was very kind. It took over an hour to get any food. When we asked for waters the only option was a $3 bottle of water. Food finally started to come out and it was tasting okay. Definitely not like most restaurants in Mar del Plata... When we received our parrillada for one, the plate was skimpy for $50. When the owner came out to ask us what was wrong, I've never seen someone in customer service belittle and speak to customers the way Oscar did. Oscar clearly has a fragile ego and doesn't like listening to a woman speak. The food was subpar for the price and the owner clearly has anger issues. After a quick search we found this place and were surprised because we have driven by this place & never seen it. It has a small parking lot, holds maybe six cars. The entrance is slightly hidden, I guess this is why I have never seen this place from the road. There is inside seating, can't tell you much about inside because we chose to sit outside, in the fully covered patio, with wood burning stove in the back and filled with Argentinian things, posters of their sports celebs(think Maradona & Messi) and of course the pope. Immediately greeted by servers. Apps: Provoleta, $14-thick slice of aged argentinean provolone cheese (parrillero), grilled and topped with fresh tomatoes, oregano and extra virgin olive oil. This app was really good. The warm bread served with this is extra yummy. The cheese was salty, tomatoes fresh and the evoo made it all play nicely atop of the warm bread. Entee: We ordered two, Parrillada for two, $78-A mix grill with a combination of beef, homemade sausage and other meals, homemade bread, chimichurri completes this very traditional dish. Served with salad and the choice of fried or white rice. Chorizo, salchicha parrillera, molleja asado de tira, vacío, chicken, pork and morcilla (blood sausage). ...I love that the parilla(grill) is bought out to your table with all the meats and delicious aroma fills your nostrils immediately. My favorites were the pork and the sausage. Be vigilant of moving the chicken from the direct far, it will dry out. My mom/mom-in-law & uncle loved the morcilla(blood sausage) Dessert: Churro w/vanilla ice cream. Warm, crunchy and delicious. Drinks: Red wine, uncle was said was just ok. Beer: Quilmes, is an Argentinian beer which the elders all enjoyed. The service really was awesome. Food tastes good but not something out of this world as it should because of the price tag and the Argentinian gastronomy tradition. I must say that the owner has exquisite very good manners when addressing customers which is something very important and valuable, waitress was super nice. Prices are way expensive, BTW they say a "parrilla" for 2 is 89 usd, and then on the bill they charge 45 each, when paying they have the system set on their ipad for you not to be able to set a custom tip but only choose from 20% up, which is not nice or convenient to say the least. For example, the Olive Oil and Vinegar they place on the table are very low quality ones, not coherent with the price they charge for everything there. Sangria cost 42 dollars and is made with very low quality wine. They have soccer memorabilia as decoration that looks very cool, and I also enjoyed the music very much, Soda Stereo is always great! They are open since 1992, so I guess they must do great no matter all this issues I am sharing, that in my case leaves me with no willingness or desire to go back or recommend the place to anyone. read more

If you haven't tried real Argentine grill(Asado), you should come here and taste in right this place. You would try the next-level fired-grill beef. It is so delicious so it makes other steaks of the same price seem insignificant. This is my personal experience about Argentina and their Asado. And little bit of this restaurant. Before I explain this restaurant, I'm going to tell me and about my background of food. I was born and raised in South Korea. After, I used to live 2 years in Argentina, 4 years in Australia, and now, I have been in the US for 8 years. I have a culinary experience about decade, and just little bit of pastry experience. I got the certificate of commercial cookery in Australia, and the certificate of Pastry Arts in Washington States. When I went to Argentina, it was over decade ago from Korea, which takes 36 hours including waiting time. Like other Latinos, Argentines are friendly, party-like people, and sometimes emotional. When we see Latinos, the stereotype of Latinos in people in the US is, usually Mexican. But, in this moment, we need to know their personalities are pretty different, especially Argentinian. In fact, it's somewhat as similar as the US. They are little bit cocky, and their hearts are filled with patriotism, and little bit dumb. But also generous to live with people from other countries like an Uncle Sam. Since Argentina faces 5 different country-boarder, there's so many different people lives there together such as Chilean, Uruguayan, Peruvian. Even Brazilian, too. And they know how to mingle with others, but still as a leader. People think Brazil is the biggest country in Latin America and it dominates there. But, that is not a true. The size of land is the biggest in there, but there's cultural difference because they use Portuguese, unlike other most of Latin America. For the reasons of cultural and language barrier, Argentina can be one of leader even they declared multiple times of economic default. When I used to live there, they always says, "Asado Argentina es major en el mundo. Y futbol, tambien!"(Argentine Asado is the best in the world. And soccer, too!) At that time, I wasn't really paid attention that. But, when I was in Australia, I realized that was true. They both usually use grass fed beef, the way they cook is completely different. Even in different countries in Latin America, too. When I have a chance to go Equador and my friend invited me to the restaurant, they also considered that Argentine Asado is the best, too. If you are in Argentina and you have a local friends, you would be invited most of Sunday lunch time for Asado.(Only if you are nice to them) One of house member always has a experience to work at Parrillada restaurant. How serious about Asado for them is, if there's no built-in charcoal grill is at patio, that's not a good house. The most immigrants from Argentina in the US live in Miami, Florida, and there's even local business to install the built-in parrilla. There's no surprise that the consumption of beef in Argentina is one of the best in the world, which is 55 kilograms(121 lbs) per capita, even as double as the States(the states consume 27 kilograms_60 lbs). When I got inside the restaurant, I felt like, I got a time machine and back to the moment I stayed in Argentina. Unfortunately, most place use grain fed beef which is the major part of beef in the US, so it was not as the same as the Original one. However, it worth to try it. Their decor takes me back to traveling in the mountains of Colombia and stopping at a bonafide steakhouse with some bomb food. So cozy and charming. The service was impeccable. Wonderful authentic Argentine parrilla! Every single piece of meat we tried was as good as the last and they were all sinfully great! This place is well worth the drive. It was quiet. Relaxed. No screaming banshees being ignored by their supposed parents. No morbidly obese rust-belt tourists loudly complaining their their meat tasted too much like meat or that their ketchup was too spicy. If there is a downside, it's that a trip to this place means you're going there to indulge in a magnificent guilt-worthy platter of more meat than you should every healthfully consume; that's basically the menu. You're not going to find a wide selection of vegetables or healthy sides. It is what it is, and what it is is a gastronomic anomaly of authenticity and flavor and properly cooked and properly hot and properly fresh meats! When I asked the waitress where was the 4th parilla she stated that the chef put 4 parrillas worth of food into 3. That was not the case being that all 3 had the same amount of food.We left disappointed and with a bill over $800. The waitress spoke Spanish and was extrimely nice, friendly, and super accomodative. We ordered BBQ for 2, and 3 adults could not finish it. The food was cooked to perfection. This place is truly a hidden gem. I've heard about this place and have seen it while driving around but never stopped to think inside. But, after getting an invite from a friend of mine to dinner, I figured why not. When we arrived, the ambiance kind of reminded me of dining in the country side of Latin America. It was very rustic and charming. The tables are all solid wood which even added to the vibe. We were seated and was helped by the most charming waitress ever. Very pleasant and always smiling. She introduced to us (whom I assume to be) the owner which explained to us that this isn't the place for vegans or vegetarians (which I was well aware of) and he gave us his recommendation. The appetizer we chose was the provoleta which is basically Argentinian provolone cheese, melted and topped with olive oil and seasoning and served to you with fresh bread. Amazing. If you're going to order drinks there, I'd recommend you get the sangria. It's pretty good and delicious and this is coming from someone who's not a wine drinker. For the main course, we had the mixed grill (parrillada) which came with various cuts of meat. The chimichurri sauce was homemade and authentic and a bit different. Nonetheless, amazing. To finish off our meal, we had our desserts. They offer flan and churros but I decided to go for their crepe which was topped with homemade caramel sauce, chocolate, whipped cream, sliced green apple and a cherry. Absolutely divine. This place came recommended from my wife's coworker as this is close to where they work. We tried going last Saturday afternoon for a late lunch only to discover they were closed as they open for dinner at 6:00 pm and also require a reservation. We wanted to try again so this time we made a reservation, for five adults and a child. As this is an Argentinian churrasqueria, They are known for their grilled meats, particularly the parillada, which is a dish that includes steak, sausages, and chicken. I have to say the food was good, better than average even, but the high price for what you get is pretty outrageous. The parillada for two was nearly $80. As there were six of us including a child, we ordered the parillada for five, not on the menu, but they would adjust the quantity and price accordingly. Considering how much it cost, the amount of food was considerably less than we expected. In particular, the amount of fries, which was the side we selected, was pretty diminutive. They brought us two plates of fries for our whole table of six. Each plate really should have been the portion for one person, two at most, but certainly not six. The skimped on the ketchup too, bring one little container for the whole table, until we asked for more, and then they brought out just one more. For the price, which with the tip came out to $300, we expected a whole lot more. The service was ok, but far from great. The owner who attended us when we first arrived was nice and personable, but the service overall was slow, they flew by our tables running off as soon as someone asked for something without letting someone else get a chance to ask for something too. The place itself has a cozy feel, but it's not in the best part of town, and due to remodeling, the bathrooms are outside and had a gas station feel. So, in summary, food was tasty and of good quality but greatly overpriced for what you got and for the location. A couple that was leaving as we arrived apparently complained about the prices too and received a discount. Perhaps I should have done the same but I paid, including 20% tip because the app on the tables only gave the choice of 20, 25 or 30%, or no tip at all. We will not be coming back to this place as it felt like highway robbery and fir that amount of money, there are far better places. read more

I was perusing restaurant.com for resto that has been added to the East Orlando area, when came upon Choochoo. After ordering the gc my first order of business was to come on here to check the reviews it seems only 2 people were disappointed so that wasn't so bad will give it a try. This resto sits on a very busy street and on top of that facing the 408. at first we were not sure if the resto was open there were only 1 car in the parking lot. This is not a quaint resto by any mean, it is a reminder of one of those pop up resto you find in Mexico city. Once you parked you enter a little entrance to the right is a rustic patio with a small bar. The inside is very small with cow motif. The restroom is located around to the back of the building. This is mostly the type of place you go with your college friends to get drunk. Upon deciding on the patio since we were the only patron, our waitress informed us she doesn't speak much English. I had to wrestle up my high school Spanish to communicate. A gentleman came to help her with our order which I thought was kewl I get to practice some Spanish. Upon looking at the menu I thought they gave us the wrong menu, the prices were above normal for this type of resto. prices starts from $21-30 for steak. I expect to pay that kind of money at places like Chatham's or Norman. We ordered the empanada which was different it came with egg, raisin, and olive which was a great texture. both of us ordered the Churasco with Fries. We did receive a small salad of lettuce, onions, and lots of vinaigrette to the point it was bitter. The bread was warm and luv the spiced butter. However everything went down hill from there for us. My steak: IT was chewy and very salty, the fries was sitting under the steak and soaked up all the bloody juice from the steak and was soggy. My friend steak came with rice instead of fries, told the waitress we need to have papas, she then took a plate began to scrape the rice off and told my companion the fries will be out in mtes. Water was on ration, I had to go into the resto to request water times. Finally I asked the gentleman to leave the pitcher at the table since were were the only one there. My friend didn't finish the steak it was too salty and chewy, requested a box. Once I gave the restaurant.com coupon the gratuities became 25% instead of the 18% I was expected to pay. Yes I feel I've been robbed as well, when I asked the gentleman about the gratuities he told me he didn't understand, his English is not that good. I feel like the vonage commercial where the people give the robbers all their belonging and thank them for taking their stuff. I'm not really sure how this place have gotten such great reviews with such mediocre salty steaks. If you want to get good Argentinian steak you should go to Texas de Brazil. read more

Really neat hole in the wall looking place. The environment was great. The meat was great as well. Wife and I ordered the parrillada for 2. Which came with choice of fries or white rice and a salad. Which was $70. And had 2 empanadas as starters (they were pretty overpriced $4/ea) for dessert had their churros (can't remember $, I believe $6 for both) To drink we just had a coke ($3 can) and a juice ($4) a side of rice ($6). The only reason for the 4 stars was just overpriced for everything. Ended up spending $120. Which seems ridiculous in my opinion.
