Chilean Seabass tasted like boil vegetables overcooked with no seasoning

Here's your updated review with those details added: Extremely disappointing experience. We came in on a Saturday night for my friend's son's birthday with a 6:30 reservation for six people and didn't receive our food until nearly 8:30--almost a full three hours later. It was very clear the restaurant was severely understaffed, with only two servers handling the entire dining room and no bartender. Our server, Linda, truly did everything she could and remained kind and attentive despite the situation, but it was simply too much for one person to manage. Unfortunately, when the food finally arrived, it only added to the frustration. None of the steaks were cooked correctly, and the food was not served at an appropriate temperature. The only items anyone in our group really enjoyed were the shrimp appetizer and the French onion soup. At that point, after such a long wait, we didn't even feel it was worth sending anything back. This situation felt completely avoidable with proper staffing and management. While we appreciate Linda's effort, the overall experience was unacceptable, especially for what was meant to be a special birthday celebration, and prices of food! The only reason I gave two stars instead of one is because Linda tried her hardest!

Overall we had a nice time but the food was just not that great. We were seated right away but our service was startlingly slow. Our waitress was sweet and I felt bad for her as she had to apologize multiple times for the wait. Assuming the issue was in the kitchen? Starters were pretty basic and followed the same theme as the rest of our meal; not put together well but nice concept. Brussels sprouts were cooked perfectly but the cheese (which was awesome) was more of a garnish than a part of the dish. There just wasn't enough for each bite. Lobster bisque was nice but the lobster was scarce and the pieces were unevenly cooked. The Steakhouse Salad was just a mess. Once again, bacon bits were not enough and the dressing was a quick blast across one half. Once the first half was eaten you were just chewing down dry lettuce. My steak was weirdly unseasoned. I mean some bites had some salt taste but for the most part it was just beef. And overcooked. Normally you can say "well, your ideas of med rare is different than..." Not this time. Very little pink and only in the middle. Demi-glaze was really good. Wife's catfish was just a mess. Batter was not bonded to the fish at all. The sauce was nice but...guess what? Only a small smear on one of the two pieces. Fish itself was super mushy. Scalloped potatoes were just mush as well and had no flavor at all. I asked for S&P and both the steak and potatoes became marginally better. Bananas Foster...not it at all. I'm not in the kitchen so I can't say for sure but I don't believe a flame or drop of rum touched this little fella. It was a plate of bananas with ice cream. Everything without exception felt unbalanced and rushed.

We went for our anniversary and they treated us like royalty! Truly an amazing experience.

Birthday dinner last night at Choplin's. The hostess greeted us and wished me happy birthday! They gave us the Chef's Table which was decorated with birthday decorations. The waiter and other staff were attentive and friendly!! And the food....well it was amazing!!! I had chicken Marsala and my hubby had diver scallops. Drinks, salad and then main course served at a steady pace, we never felt rushed or pushed to hurry up and eat. The chef constantly changes up the menu so the courses are fresh and unique. For dessert they added a sparkler to my chocolate cake (my favorite dessert on the menu) and sang happy birthday. The staff went out of their way to make this a special dining experience!!! You will not be disappointed. This is our go to restaurant for special occasions in LKN.

We came out to Cornelius for my birthday dinner. We specifically came for Choplin's. We had 6:30 reservation and thanks to the down pour of rain we were pretty much right on time. We arrived and they had a nice covered outdoor area and inside was standing room only in the waiting area. They were booked solid, but we only had to wait 5-10 minutes for a table to be ready when we arrived. Our waitress, Taylor, was very sweet and on top of everything! We ordered the Carolina Shrimp appetizer again and it was delicious, I got a steakhouse salad and it was phenomenal, we both ordered the filet mignon. I got the 8 oz and traded the scalloped potatoes for mashed potatoes and my husband got the 12 oz as it comes. When our steaks came out everything looked phenomenal. We were disappointed they weren't cooked exactly right; however, they were so apologetic and happily fixed it for us with no fuss! When they came out again they were cooked perfectly as usual for them! The veggies were yummy and the potatoes were good as well! The desserts were out of this world as usual. My husband ordered strawberry cake and I don't care much for cake in general so I got the Crème Brûlée as usual for me. It was delicious for sure! my husbands face said it all when he bit into the cake and then he insisted I try it. When I tell you it was DELECTABLE it's an understatement. We ended up ordering a piece to go. They recognized us after we haven't been here in four months and that speaks a lot for a place I think. The atmosphere is relaxed, it was more noisy than I like tonight but it was packed and several large parties so it was to be expected to be a bit noisy. Choplin's definitely stays at the top of my lists for places this side of Tennesse. We made the hour drive for it and will do it again for sure!

We had a wonderful Birthday celebration at Choplin's Restaurant in Cornelius, NC! The personalized service, delicious appetizers and entrees, and the special touch with the birthday cake and champagne made my Mom's birthday truly memorable. Faith Choplin, her husband, and the staff made the evening so special. Our Aunt and Cousin from Washington State were thrilled to have dinner at Mom's favorite restaurant Everything was perfect.

Worst Food ever...So disappointed. Drove 45 minutes on a reservation, short wait (no problem). Got shoved in box car seating situation. Server was unprofessional, right down to his follower pen. Skipping... then auctioned off "anyone have a drink menu?" Pass it on down... WTF? Asked questions about menu, the clown re-read me what was on paper!!!! Food came, clown came an went. Chillin sea bass was Patagonian toothfish...ribeye was 4 different temperatures, rice pilaf, scalloped potatoes salad, dessert everything nasty! Owners couldn't need look me in the eye!!!!

The nachos and dips were excellent. The salsa was tasty and the appetizer also came with a side of fresh guacamole and pimento cheese. The filet mignon was top-notch & cooked to perfection. I got the grouper special with a side of lemon butter sauce and crab. Absolutely delicious. The place is modern with a cool vibe. The only thing that took away from the experience was that it was very loud & noisy - the restaurant was packed and they had music playing on top of that so it was a bit much. There were a lot of servers helping with water refills and being very attentive. The customer service was excellent. Amanda brought out a brownie with ice cream with a candle on top when the birthday boy was outside taking a phone call, so she left her lighter so I could light the candle when he came back. It was these small touches that really made the evening special along with the fantastic food.

This was our first time here, and it's a very nice venue. To start, their coffee is delicious and strong. I had the Double Up, with scrambled eggs (with added cheddar), bacon, sausage links, sourdough toast, and fruit. My husband had the Short Rib Hash with a side of potatoes. He forgot the hash also had potatoes, and should have gotten something else, because he had far too many potatoes! My scrambled eggs were a little over cooked and the cheese was only melted on top (rather than being mixed in), but they were still decent. The bacon was perfectly crispy--as requested, and the sausage links were fine. The sourdough toast was buttered and delicious. And the fruit had watermelon--a nice addition to the usual fruit cup. My husband's short rib hash was good. The eggs were perfectly medium, but the potatoes were a bit salty. Easy Like Sunday still makes our favorite version of this dish. Our server was very pleasant, and the wait wasn't too long for our food. I loved that we could pay with ApplePay via the Toast handheld. The restaurant is known for its casual yet upscale ambiance, which definitely came through during our visit.  Where the experience fell a bit short for me was the food. Everything was prepared well and perfectly edible, but nothing really stood out or felt especially memorable. It wasn't bad by any means--just not quite at the same level as the atmosphere and service. I went for the lobster tail ravioli, and it was just a bit too chewy for my taste. I was hoping for a dish that would make me eager to come back, but that didn't happen on this visit. I could, however, come back. I would give it a second chance and would like to try drinks from the bar.  Overall, Torrence and Knox is a great spot for the ambiance, service, and overall dining experience. If you're looking for a comfortable place to meet friends, enjoy drinks, or have a relaxed night out, it's definitely worth a visit. I'd return for the atmosphere alone and would be interested to try more of the menu in the future.

Seaboy absolutely delivered. From the outside, the building is understated and looks more like it belongs near the beach at Oak Island. Once you step inside, however, it is clean, classy, well-appointed, and charmingly coastal without being overly themed or tacky. It feels like the premium restaurant it is. We didn't make reservations because we arrived at 4:30 on a Friday and never expected the place to be completely slammed that early. Jackie, the hostess, took our name and phone number and promised to call as soon as something opened at the bar. Since there wasn't much room to wait inside, she encouraged us to relax in our car. Sure enough, about 15 minutes later, she called and made sure we got the first two available seats. Samantha, the bartender, was both an excellent server and a talented mixologist. She was friendly, welcoming, and attentive, somehow keeping up with all the drinks for the dining room without allowing anyone at the bar to feel ignored. I told her I wasn't much of a drinker but gave her the name of a liquor I enjoy. She created her own cocktail for me, and it was a solid 10 out of 10. Could I walk in and order that exact drink again? Probably not. Would I trust her to surprise me again in a heartbeat? Absolutely. My wife started with a shrimp appetizer that she said may have been the best shrimp she has ever eaten. I had the Caesar salad, which was the only part of the meal that was merely okay. It was beautifully presented, generously portioned, properly dressed, and topped with excellent cheese. Unfortunately, the dressing lacked the bold, savory punch I expect from a great Caesar. Our entrées, however, were phenomenal. I ordered the swordfish, and it was so good that my wife essentially took it over because she liked it even more than the seafood pasta special she had ordered. Fortunately, her rich, cheesy seafood creation was outstanding, so I was perfectly happy with the trade. I polished off her meal, then finished whatever swordfish she left behind! We ended with the deconstructed Key lime pie. It was flavorful and enjoyable, although, like the Caesar, I felt it could have used just a little more refinement. At one point, the chef and owner came out to the bar, shook our hands, introduced himself, and thanked us for coming. He stayed for a little friendly conversation, which was a genuinely nice and personal touch. Those minor critiques aside, the service, food quality, atmosphere, and hospitality were all excellent. Seaboy has immediately become one of our favorite choices for a premium meal, and the overall experience was absolutely five out of five. We will definitely be back soon. To those about to nosh, we salute you!
