Came here due to all the great reviews. However after visiting this restaurant my husband and I did not have a Great experience. My husband ordered pancakes that were hard and cold and cooked on a dirty griddle due to them being scorched the hunck of butter would not melt he asked for his eggs to be scramble soft the were over cooked/hard and brown. He sent the pancakes back the Manager return with hard and rubber cakes. With the hunck of butter that would not even spread/melt. He tried to endure this because I really wanted to eat here. My order was okay although my crabcakes were completely cold my biscuit was cold dry and hard. I did not complain my husband however asked to speak to the Manager an she came to speak with him she was nice/nasty condescending. So he sent his whole order back. While we sat as I continue to eat my potatoes which was the only thing hot on my plate He pointed out to me and yes the glass wear were awful the glasses were old and dirty looking. AFTER we paid for my food while waiting on the waitresses to bring our change we noticed that every one around us has fresh steamming hot good looking food. We do not feel like this establishment tried at all to give us great costumer service or food we feel like we got this treatment due to being african american. This tiny breakfast place is such a gem. I have been here a few times and they have gotten better and better each time. The mimosa was made with freshly squeezed orange juice and you can tell! It is amazing, wish they had bottomless mimosas!! They have great gluten free options as well. The corned beef hash was delicious. The corned beef was a little stringy but maybe it just wasn't my taste. I still enjoyed it though! The potatoes were crispy and perfect! The chicken and waffles were GORGEOUS and delicious. My boyfriend couldn't get enough. Also, the fried angel hair is such a beautiful and fun addition! The duck bacon was fun to try and the chef is as nice as can be. Had hi expectations but disappointed. First-table was cleaned in front of us and that consisted of a simple wipe down. Condiments not included (clearly just used) bottle of syrup. After sitting down annoyed by several flys, not to mention seeing the window littered with a few dead bodies. Next, staff presentation- waiter he had 1+ inch nails that looked less then hygienic. I ask for toast waiter states I can substitute toast for the biscuit that comes on meal I state great that's what I want. Meal arrives, fantastic presentation. The pork chop was sizable and looked awesome. Oh did I mention they sent a biscuit instead, waiter say oh no let me get the toast. Ok I'm ok with this so far. I tear into my meal....ya not very flavorful. Pork chop was lacking and borderline dry. Required A1 steak sauce! Potatoes clearly frozen from a bag, look exactly like Denny's. I got a waffle thankfully that was great I enjoyed that. My toast did arrive as well. That was awesome too. So MY opinion the toast and the waffle was the only good thing I had. Did I fail to mention staff were vacuuming around me with LOUD battery powered vacuums. Comes the bill- they charge me for the toast (note I did not touch the biscuit they accidentally sent incorrectly). I ask the waiter about this and admits to incorrectly stating it could be substituted and I will have to be charged for it. So will I return to this place? Nope. First time to the new location. Down country vibes indoors. Staff was very courteous and the place looked well kept. It was quite the wait for food which is fine- did you see the size of the plates haha. They only lost a star because they burned my waffle twice, which I'm not sure if that's really what happened but or waitress said that was why it took extra long. Let it be known though, that when I did finally get my waffle it was amazing. I'd like to see Corpus Christi craft beer on the taps at the bar but other then that I recommend giving this place a try especially on a Sunday evening, no lines. read more

Mother's Day weekend lunch on Saturday. Two rounds of drinks and one had only alcohol, was a mimosa, no fruit juice. The other drink had no alcohol at all. My wife ordered the Sage fried chicken with gravy on side. Received it with gravy on top. Sent back to have gravy on side. Came back out and they reheated the over easy eggs on original plate making them now over hard eggs. Sent those back for over easy eggs. Finally cutting into the breading, they sent out chicken fried steak not chicken fried chicken. So sorry for my wife as her Mother's Day meal had to be corrected twice and still received the wrong order. This point we are done and my wife just decided to eat as this had gone on too long. This review could change because I plan to return soon. The place is so new that the environment is amazing. Just don't order the hash!! I got used to ordering corned beef hash in mostly Las Vegas and some other Western states. This stuff is, I believe made from corned beef brisket. The difference is that I'm used to diced, not shredded brisket. It came with potatoes and two eggs, and a huge biscuit. I ate maybe 1/3 of the food ( eggs and biscuit). Wow wow WOW! This place is amazing! We came here not really knowing what to expect and what we got was fantastic. Kara was our server and she was great! She helped us both pick out something on the menu that we would love and took her time explaining and suggesting things to us like the duck bacon and the cucumber water (both amazing! Food was delicious! Went in around 8:00 on a weekend morning and ordered the Healthy Start plate. Waitress was super nice and food came out quicker than I expected. Only reason I don't rate it 5 stars is because they were out of the wheat mix for the pancakes that came with my plate so I had to get something else. Quite cold inside the restaurant too, so I recommend bringing a jacket just in case you get cold easily! This is my third experience here. Overall, I am impressed. Negatively. The only good thing about the food is quantity. Very large portions. Average to poor on the three different things I've had. The worst, their top billed 38 oz tomahawk steak. It was cooked properly but had the funk that comes with beef from an old animal. It smelled and tasted bad. Certainly not worthy of even U.S Commercial Grade and the $70 price. The staff was friendly but inexperienced. Our meal arrived piecemeal. Horrible service by the hostesses. We were told a table of 5 could be seated in 15 minutes. However we waited for over an hour. One hostess told us our table was next but a different hostess received a comment from a different group and gave our table to them "because they were upset". There was no regard for a list or who came first. If we were told the truth when we arrived we would have found somewhere else. Do better for your loyal customers! read more

What happened?! This place used to be a favorite, but today's visit has me striking them from the list. Service was sad, food was undercooked, out of items, had to ask several times for silverware (4 other tables had to ask for silverware as well and we were all side by side each other and they were complaining as well), never got a refill, the dining area was dirty and restrooms were worse. When I asked manager for a refill, he brought me my drink in a cup that honestly should be tossed out. The powdecoating was peeling off and bubbled. And don't get me going on his poor skills. I was looking forward to them opening in Portland. Now, not at all. I feel sorry for the few waitresses that tried their hardest. They had no support from management and a few of the waitresses looked like they had no clue what to do. I can see how we got seated so quickly on a Sunday at 12PM, seems others are straying away as well. I had to give 1 star to post, and that's way too much for today's visit. read more

Chops and Eggs is a very nice place to go eat at anytime of the day. I had the chicken and waffles and my wife the chicken fried chicken and mashed potatoes. They were perfect. Great presentation and taste. We also had heard their biscuits were great. We asked for one and they brought it out. You guessed it, another home run. The food isn't that expensive but it's not cheap either. Great date place or dinner party. It's small and unique. Nothing like it in Corpus Christi. read more

Our waiter did not know the menu, and struggled with the simplest waitstaff tasks. He didn't introduce himself and blamed the "POS System" for the inability to accommodate requests. The food was good: fresh, hot, and plentiful. For 3 adults and no beverages, the check was $50. The owner stopped by and made us feel welcome. Highlights: - fresh biscuits were fluffy & buttery-crispy-topped - a whole portobello mushroom on my burger instead of slices - CFC was crispy and tender with perfect cream gravy - nice decor & atmosphere Drawbacks: - no sweet tea - inability to follow-through with special requests (asked for no mashed potatoes and double veggies but it didn't happen) - Marsala gravy is too salty - slow kitchen and one plate at a time service Bottom line is we will go back and give them another try but this visit was not stellar. read more

When I asked why, the server argued that I did mention I wanted a 'spinach crepe' when all I ordered were 'swedish crepes'. I loved the vibes. I came here with my mom and grandma and as soon as we walked in, we were greeted by really friendly servers. I also really loved the selfie station they had set up lol. It has a western feel. And the place is super clean. I had their lobster bisque and some shrimp with mashed potatoes. I guess I can say my expectations were pretty high. This restaurant is huge, but didn't feel like a regular ole mom and pop restaurant. FINALLY a unique, creative, and modern restaurant in corpus!! The food you'll have here is not something you can find anywhere else honestly. I've been a couple of times and both times the food was just amazing. It's so good that it makes up for anything else that may not be as perfect as everyone expects things to be. About the food - I've tried the famous sage chicken benefit, def not your ordinary poached eggs hollandaise Benedict but it's recreated in a very creative and unique way. The mashed potatoes on the bottom is so creamy and flavorful. Sauce might be spicy for some people or too much sauce I request it on the side. _Biscuits are obviously freshly baked because they're very soft buttery inside crusty on on the outside. -My husband had the corned beef hash and he was ecstatic when he saw the fresh beef not canned corned beef which's served in every other restaurant this is literally the first time ever he has it fresh and this is something he orders every time we eat breakfast out. -the roasted chicken hash is great too so is the o'lamb hash. -the pancakes here are sooo freaking good. You gotta try some on the side. Prices are decent especially for the HUGE portions you get. A stack of two huge pancakes for only $3?! It's great! Place is very nice and clean staff is friendly, today I asked for sunny side up my hash came with scrambled I told the waiter he apologized and asked if I want him to take it back I said it's ok but he still brought me two sunny side up on the side. Which was very nice. Manager or owner is very nice he came out and talked to all guests made sure things are as good as can be. Breakfast done right ! First time thre and they were busy at 10;30 on a Monday morning which suprized us: second time : same - still a 25 min wait. The menu is huge : so doesn't matter what your favorite is, they got it. Was great food - large portions but don't expect to do anything fast. Takes half hhour or so to get seat, 15 /20 to order, 40 to get food and at least 15 to pay. Not sure what issue is but both time breakfast was two hour affair from pulling in to pulling out and was different days and time with same experience. We come here about every weekend for breakfast. Today was nothing short of a shit show. We were told a 30 min wait, and an hour and 30 min later were told it would be another hour and 15 min. The food is good, but not good enough to wait 3 hours. Then the hostess said there was a party of 60 people, and the kitchen was on hold. If that's the case, and you can't handle your customer flow, CLOSE THE RESTAURANT!!! People placed to go orders, and were not told until they came to pick them up their orders were cancelled. That's bad business, very bad business. Get your staff, and kitchen together if you want to run a restaurant. My husband is so mad, I don't know if we will ever come back. read more
