This is my go to spot in San Fernando / Sylmar for chinese fast food. I am a fan of China Express. But I feel ChopSpoon overtakes them in a slight edge in quality. I know they use no frozen green beans in the Black Pepper Chicken which is amazing. Whenever I call in to order a soup they have always been friendly and its waiting for me within 10min or less. Wonton Soup - Light, tasty. A bit heavy on the veggies but really good if you got a cold or want a light soup. Egg Drop Soup - Very light. Tasty and coincidentally not overly eggy. There is no meat in this soup just broth, egg ribbons and a frozen veggie mix but it works for this soup very well. Hot and Sour Soup - Delicious. I believe they use wood ear mushrooms in this soup. But this is quite flavorful and tasty. Jalapeno Chicken - Great dish. Savory, sweet and spicy. Id say the sauce its cooked in is a little sweet but it works. I wish they would cook the jalapeno a little more but this is a top dish here. This has zucchini, chicken, and jalapenos. Black Pepper Chicken - Amazing. My go to here. Fresh green beans, chicken in a peppery onion black sauce. Great flavors. Mushroom Chicken - Very light. Sauce is gravy like. Good amount of veggies in here in contrast to the chicken. But it works well especially over white rice or the rice noodles. Orange Chicken - Not a fan. This is soggy. Kind of overly sweet. ChopSpoon is great too when there is an item that is low or looking kind of old. They will cook up a new batch within minutes. read more

i've been wanting to leave my review for this eatery but i didn't know the name of this spot. This is the second chinese food eatery that i definitely like in the valley. it's not far from my employment. In my opinion the food is good. I like their bbq chicken and bbq pork. Don't get me wrong i like all of their item selections. those 2 are just my favorites. The few times i've been to this business the customer service has been attentive and respectful. I can tell that everyone there works very hard. It's a small spot within a small plaza. There is another business i go to in that plaza so it becomes a 1 stop shop for me. Not much of an ambiance or space really. You'd be better off taking your food to go. seats around 6 people comfortably. I really like the food. Portions to price point ratio will definitely satisfy you. Will not break the bank. They accept cash, card, apple pay. I believe there is a small transaction fee when using your card. I gave them 5 starts because the food is on point, service is prompt, price point is pocket friendly, portions are satisfying and they are speedy with the expediting of the food. For starters i love that they dont serve the lo mein as thats very unhealthy and pscked with chemicals. Instead the vermecill8 based noodles is a must. The prices are phenomenal! My new go-to Chinese spot. Used to go to Panda Wok but got tired of the poor customer service. Then started going to China Express but something changed there and it's not like it used to be. I've seen ChopSpoon on Yelp a bunch of times but never realized it's typical American Chinese food. Place itself is rather small but typical for mom n pops in Sylmar. Super clean, staff friendly. You may want to take your food to go though. Everything looked fresh and delicious. I ended up with the 2 entree meal, chow mien, orange chicken, and Kung Pao chicken. There was so much piled in the container that it lasted 2 meals and I'm a big guy with a big appetite especially for yummy Chinese. Oh, and they have BBQ pork which is hard to come by these days. I would have given this a 5 star if my food was really hot! I did get this delivered on DoorDash and it was an hour before closing. Next time I'll be coming in. Food Quality was delicious I've been looking for a good Chinese spot! The chow mein is delicious! Orange chicken is very flavorful and the portion is just right! I also got the veggie egg rolls! Those were bomb as well paired perfectly with the sweet and sour sauce. Side of beef and broccoli was not good the broccoli was good but the beef 2/10. First time here and based on reviews I was expecting delicious food. But for one thing they only service dark meat chicken, even if you ask, they don't have white meat. So I tried Kung Pao & Black pepper chicken. My first bite of chicken was chewy, gristly & yucky. It messed up the whole meal for me. I tried to eat more but both dishes had the same sauce. I got both chow mein & fried rice in my two item combo. Rice was ok, but the chow mein was very bland. We also ordered Pork Chop suey. Didn't taste like any chop suey I've ever had. I can make better Chinese food at home. Portions are large, so unfortunately we have leftovers, but I won't be eating any. Total was almost $27 for two item combo & chop suey. They will give you packaged flavorless hot sauce for free but charge 50 cent for the good chili garlic sauce. I have my own at home so I didn't buy extra. Why is it so hard to find a decent Chinese restaurant in my area? I'll go to Panda next time, at least their food is edible. read more

And you can tell everything is cooked fresh there. It's a little mom and pop place literally run by a nice lady and her husband. Their menu is super simple and cheap especially when you consider their MASSIVE portion sizes. 1 meal there is enough for 2/3 meals for myself. They also have won ton soup which I was curious about but ended up getting a Combo B which was a mountain of chow mein with orange chicken and their jalapeño chicken. All delicious. I also tried their egg rolls which were great! Only gripe I had was that I asked for 3 egg rolls and the sign clearly said 3 egg rolls for a certain price which I paid but I only received 2. Just left this place. This was my first time going there and my first impressions were ewwww. There was one person in front of me who placed his order and paid by cash. The lady who assisted him served his food, then handled the cash. When she was done with him she came over to me to ask me what I wanted to order, and proceeded to grab a container to place the food in. She did not wash her hands at all, used hand sanitizer or put on gloves. If this is what happens in front of the customers eyes I can't even imagine what happens behind the curtain they have up blocking the view to the kitchen. How do they have an A rating? Did they bribe the inspector? Is the inspector a family member of theirs? You aren't supposed to handle cash then handle food. I asked her if she was going to wash her hands before handling the food since she was just handling cash, and she looked at me like I had a phallus growing on my forehead. So I just walked out without ordering. For everyone asking if there's vegan options, considere this: these idiots don't know how to properly handle food for people who eat everything; what makes you think they will keep everything separate for vegans? Being vegan isn't just about eating tofu and not eating meat. It's a life style. This wouldn't even be considered vegetarian let alone vegan. For something to be considered vegetarian or vegan it can't even have any cross-contamination. That's why restaurants that respect vegetarians have a separate oil for frying vegetarian items and a separate grill for grilling vegetarian items. This place is a contamination paradise for anyone.
