A classy Chinese carryout? Can such a thing exist? In Elkridge? Yes and yes. Food - With the Asian population in the Columbia/Ellicott City area, it's hard to believe that good bubble tea is so hard to fine (where have all the good balls gone?!). Who knew I'd find some of the best bubble tea in the area at a Chinese carryout with two x's in the name? The bubble teas ($3.50) here are good! Yes, they use powder but the balls are the perfect consistency (squishy but not soggy, firm but not too hard) and delicious. If you order a "Street Meal", you can add a bubble tea for $1, and a frappe bubble tea for $1.50. As far as the food, it's above-average carryout fare. The lunch breaks are a good deal and served on a boat (yes, I'm on a boat...). If you're a "Hunger Man" (lol), you can add a soup and salad for $2.50. The salad is a typical side salad served with what is best described as candied french dressing. The green curry is actually quite good. Service - this is why I say this place is "classy." The employees are super friendly, bring your order out to you, AND will bus your table for you. The online ordering system is one of the best that I've used when ordering Chinese carryout. Location - furthermore, any carryout that has cock sauce (Sriracha) available instead of the generic hot sauce packets, is classy in my book. Smallish interior that can get crowded during the lunch rush. One TV that is usually showing CNN or another news network. Whether you're a hunger man or not, if you like Chinese carryout fare, I think you'll enjoy their above-average food, great service, and tasty balls. read more

My favorite casual asian restaurant which is so great for those nights in! It's a very small restaurant that has great affordable food. The people are very nice and efficient. The last time I was there I really enjoyed their 3 choice combo with an entree and two sides. I highly recommend this because you get a little of everything! Entrees: -Mongolian beef: The beef was sliced thinly and was not chewy or anything. I enjoyed this dish, but beware if you don't like onions because this dish is 80% onions and 20% beef. There was a good amount of beef in the dish, but just make sure you're okay with onions before ordering. I think it adds a great taste to the dish! -Thai green curry: This dish is okay, the curry could use some spice to it. I enjoyed everything in it, the chicken, bamboo shoots, bell peppers, carrots, and string beans. What surprised me is their bubble tea! Usually I would come to a restaurant and never order their bubble tea or smoothies because they are usually powdery or poorly blended. However, with their thai iced tea I was surprised! It lacked the tea flavor but still a great drink to enjoy with your meal. It's also cheap compared to other places. Tip: if you order from their street menu, you can get a $1 drink along with it. Their food is pretty good, but really, I am a fan of the boba teas and drink selection that they have at their spot, since they are one of the only places in the area that makes their boba/bubble and teas from what taste like scratch. I can't believe the reviews that are unsatisfactory. I've been eating here for years, before and after the changes and it has gotten MUCH better over the years. This is the place to go if you want some quick, well-done Americanized Chinese food. They use white meat and the veggies are bright and plump, not all overdone in too much sauce and shriveled up like lots of other places. The boba tea is pretty good; it's only $1+ extra for a big cup with any of the street meals and it's buy six get one free! Everyone I've brought has found something to like about this nice cafe and the pleasant atmosphere! The spicy wontons, eggplant & chicken, pad thai, and general tso's tofu are pretty good dishes to try. Update: I tried their hong kong style wonton soup in the past and didn't like it. But I tried it again recently, and wow--they must have improved it. The only thing I needed to add was some more white pepper--and I had the wonton noodle fix I'd been looking forward to all day. Feeling like a big bowl of hot soup? Try the pho or wonton noodle soup. Want to meet General Tso? Coming right up. Healthy control freak? You can order dishes steamed with brown rice and sauce on the side. Street food craving? There's an entire separate menu dedicated to that. Top of your meal with some bubble tea, and you're good to go. That is... until you see Cindy's Soft Serve around the corner... but that's a whole other story... Is this the best and most authentic? Of course not. But for a cheap and substantial meal that satisfies a myriad of cravings, it sure fits the bill. This is my go-to Asian take-out place! It's a hidden spot in Elkridge. If you go to the cafe in-person you will notice it is a kind of a shabby looking cafe. I don't usually like to eat-in but it's good for quick carry-out or delivery. Let's talk about the food. It's not amazing by any means but it is a solid Asian fusion cafe which has American Chinese, Thai food, street food options, and BUBBLE TEA. I usually order the shrimp drunken noodles, shrimp fried rice, general tso tofu, miso soup, shrimp and broccoli, and bubble tea. Their Thai bubble tea is my favorite! It's rare to find a Asian fusion cafe that can deliver bubble tea to your house whenever you want . The fried pork was too dry and was over fried but the fish was pretty good. I'm hoping the pork will be better if I dine in. Second time around, we dined in. I come here all the time for their frappes and black tea lattes. I can't get enough of it. If it was closer to where I live, I might even go every day. Aside from their drinks, their Thai fried rice is really good. It's not greasy like most fried rice, but rather fresh and flavorful. Their Hong Kong style wonton soup is also very good and very hearty. I usually get those two when I dine in. Their Chinese food combination is pretty good as well. Their portions are bigger than normal which I can greatly appreciate. The restaurant itself is quite small. There are only a few tables and not a lot of room for privacy. There is almost no noise so any conversations held above whisper will be heard by anyone in the restaurant, except for those in the kitchen. We ordered off the "street food" menu: meat stew over rice with a marinaded egg. Also the chicken cutlet over rice with veggies. I thought both dishes were "meh". The rice had that "sat around for a while" texture to it. It was typical Chinese-joint food, and it reminded me why I hardly eat Chinese unless it's a rare authentic place. However, we did enjoy our Frappes with bubbles. We got a lychee flavor and a green tea flavor. They had other flavors to choose and I think next time I would get the tea latte rather than a frappe. That's about the only thing I'd come back to order. The interior is small and has the look/feel of a take-out place. I ordered the lunch special spicy garlic shrimp with fried rice and came with crab wontons and a pineapple fusion tea. I love the plate shaped like a boat. The food was very very very good. I haven't had really good Chinese food in a long time. I ate in but the dining area is tiny and in full view of customers ordering takeout. That said I didn't feel awkward. Overheard some of them talking and comparing dishes, so they come back a lot. Ordered my Kung pao chicken without rice, and it was obvious they didn't know what to do- the serving 'boat' came 1/3 full, with a big nothing where a big ball of rice came on others' plate; could have given me more Kung pao or a substitute. Food? Ok- sauce was very sweet, like a general tso sauce. Peanuts were sprinkled on top, not blanched and mixed in. Could have used less baby corn and more scallions and carrots. Definite traces of msg. Crab cheese puffs were cold and mostly cheese- nothing great. Disappointing and surprising with the amount of traffic. Overall- pedestrian, won't be back. read more

We live nearby and have ordered here dozens of times, but my most recent trip will be my last. 50 minutes, that's how long it took for our food to arrive at takeout from time of order. We were told 30 and as I sat waiting in the restaurant they kept telling everyone 30 minutes who phoned in. I as not alone in frustration as others waiting tipped over the 45 minute mark. This has happened many times before - 30 minutes is standard on a busy night and they consistently underestimate. Their food is decent, fresh vegetables and a creative menu that expands the typical chinese takeout restaurant. I've tried over 20 menu items and I find their food fairly bland overall. I'll continue going to Hunan Express next to Giant on Marshalee Road - good food, large portions and they never take more than 10 minutes. read more

We ordered: R7, steamed chicken and vegetables with choice of sauce on the side and brown rice- my favorite dish! So this gets 3.5 from me. We really liked this place initially but have come to feel that lots of their dishes taste the same. The quality is def way higher than an average Chinese joint. They also charge you a bit more. The veggies are crisp & plentiful but ur protein can be MIA & the sauces are not creative or especially flavorful. We got 3 dishes that tasted identical last time & they were all swimming in that slick brown sauce. Also we asked about MSG once & didn't get a clear answer. The Bobba drinks are great. Service is usually outstanding but can be a miss at times. I think we'll go back & I'll try something from the street menu as suggested by the other reviewers. read more

I was so excited to try this place and ended up really unhappy about my order. I ordered Crispy Sweet and Sour shrimp and Shrimp Fried rice. Neither was flavorful and the shrimp from the rice was sour and tasted spoiled. The rice was doused in whatever sauce they used. I was so disappointed and ultimately decided to throw it away. I would definitely like to try some of their "street food" menu in the future as I saw after I had ordered they have drunken noodles and char kway teow as well. I thought of a 3.25 rating but rounded down. (Yes i am peculiar.) The service here was excellent. No frills, order up front and pay first, then sit wherever available. The waiter was very attentive and fast. He brought us extra plates for sharing and asked if we would prefer chopsticks vs their traditional utensils. I got the small green curry with chicken which was pretty generous for the price ($7.50). It came with peppers, slices of bamboo, chicken basil and other vegs that I forget. While the taste of this was on point, my rating was due to the texture. From all the curries I've had, the texture of green curry generally falls between creamy to soupy thick but smooth. The texture of this appeared grainy even thought it didn't necessarily taste that way, it appeared to have been over saturated with cornstarch so it was too thick and viscous and more brown than any green. But again taste was excellent, I just had to not look at what I ate. My husband got the beef stew noodle soup. It came in a fragrant mildly spicy and cilantro-y soup and bok choy. Beef stew was like brisket, but very flavorful and rich. The soup was not as rich as the beef itself but it paired nicely. I liked the chewy noodles but my husband wasn't fan of it. The noodles resemble same as those used for stir fry, so he felt it was too soft after awhile in the soup. I tend to like my noodles more cooked than al dente so I had less complaints. For $8.50 this was a darn good deal! Overall, we had a positive experience with a few minor hiccups. For the price, the dishes here are decent, and they offer lunch specials even on weekends. read more

I found my way to ChopStixx in my hunt for new places to review on yelp. Chopstixx was a nice surprise. I got take out - which this seems to be targeted at - but you could eat in. The staff had the food ready and was polite when I came in. Spring Rolls - really not that great. The wrapper wasn't really flaky, and it just didn't pack much taste. Still enjoyable, but I'd skip (and we never skip eggrolls) in the future because... Shrimp Shumai - this was great. I found myself just dumping the sauce on rice before I even got to my entry. I was pretty much over the spring rolls as soon as I had these. Veggie Lo Mein - pretty standard. Not overly greasy, but still just enough to hit the spot... because if you're ordering american Lo Mein you want a bit of grease. Cashew Shrimp - yeah... that's why I'm coming back here. Splurge on the jumbo shrimp. Or don't... the cashews were incredible, lightly toasted maintaining that crunch, but also being soft if that makes any sense. The biggest issue with this place is going to be ordering your first time (if you use the website). Prices are shown for many items without meat. You'll see 6.75 for items or 14 bucks... but it just has to do with what the base order is. This does mean, for vegetarians, you can get a really great deal here. read more
