When you go to a restaurant thats called "Chopstixx", do you really expect that place to cook authentic Chinese food?..... Exactly. I came here years ago and they were just a typical Chinese restaurant. I came here again a few weeks ago and I was amazed about how much this place has changed. The menu has a much more variety than before, including bubble teas, a wider list of vegetarian options, a "street food" menu, fusion cuisines, pho, and a variety of different drinks. I decided to get the usual dishes I'd get at other Chinese places. General tso chicken, orange chicken, and my sister got some tofu dish, I dont remember. =) They were great, nothing crazy. But whats unusual is, after I went there, I didnt feel sluggish and sleepy... Other places that feed you greasy and oily foods packed with MSG would make you feel that way, Chopstixx didnt. Pleasantly surprised. I have yet to try out their other dishes but so far this place is great. read more

I come here about once every 2 to 3 weeks when we decide to do casual eat out night. The street food options hit the spot and very reasonably priced for such a large serving! I typically order the tender Chicken Satay, Grilled Shrimp Teriyaki w Broccoli and Mandarin style fish. They are not greasy, not oily and oh so delicious. Also quite healthy if you are on a low carb diet. These are not your typical Chinese carryout dishes. If you want fried and drenched in sauce, then order the Americanized dishes. If you want simple, inexpensive, fill-you-up and healthier meals; stick with the grilled dishes. The bubble drinks and teas are pretty awesome too! After a heathy meal, why not indulge in a yummy sweet drink? This is my go-to comfort food spot. They are friendly, fast, clean and yummy! These employees move fast and has a get-it-done mentality. This place used to be quite good when it was a more traditional American-Chinese family run restaurant. We live nearby and got carryout from there on a regular basis for a few years. Sometime in the last few years it changed hands and became "Chopstixx". The new owners were apparently trying to modernize the place as they stripped out all the cool trad decor of statues, hanging lamps and so on, painted the place loud neon colors (looks like a shopping mall food court now) and added a lot of bubble tea to the menu. So now it's like a bubble tea cafe that occasionally serves pretty blah Asian food. Fine if you're 17 and into bubble tea, not so good if you actually want to eat a meal. On our last trip to get carryout, half of what we ordered (nothing exotic, standard fried beef and veggie type selections) was not available because they were "changing the menu". When we finally found some dishes they had in stock, the counter guy forgot to add part of our order, so we had to do two orders. Then we received one order and they had to go back and check on the other order while the first one was getting cold. Other people who were eating in seemed to be waiting a really long time for service. When we finally got our carryout food, I discovered that they'd switched to these incredibly cheap plastic containers instead of the usual tight sealed ones I get from every other Asian restaurant in the BWI area. These were more like containers from a McDonalds, and they bowed under the weight of the food and were in serious risk of spilling liquid sauce everywhere. You'd be better off using the old-fashioned white paper containers than those flimsy plastic ones. I'm sorry to see how bad this place has gotten as we used to eat there 3-4 times a month but I don't think we'll be back unless they MAJORLY change the food (i.e. have one menu instead of four or five, and actually serve what is on the menu and keep it updated) and service. Good Chinese/Asian food in Elkridge, say whatttt?! Chopstixx is a little, nondescript, and typical-looking Asian restaurant located in the same shopping center as Green Valley and the Exxon gas station, off of Rt. 1. Interior is kinda meh, but that's pretty much to be expected...but despite the lack of modern decor and small size, it's tidy and clean. Can't say much about all the items on their menu, which is pretty extensive to say the least, but I love the Thai fried rice from their street menu! Comes in either a reg/small or large portion, and you can add a bubble tea for $1.50, scoreeeeeee. For ~$10, it's a pretty awesome deal if you're looking for a quick, yummy dinner for two. The fried rice is buttery and savory...and every bite is filled with egg or chicken or shrimp or beef, which you don't find often! Chopstixx is definitely not one to skimp on meats, thank goodness. :) Oh and I always get the passionfruit latte smoothie (diehard passionfruit milk tea lover over here...) with bubbles, and the flavor is great! Fruity but still creamy...and I usually wait a little for the smoothie to melt because it's pretty stiff and difficult to drink when it first comes out. Bubbles are alright, but it's kinda hard to tell when it comes to smoothies since the ice freezes them up anyway. I always come here for takeout, and the service is efficient and friendly. As a certified San Francisco snob when it comes to all things food, culture and, well . . . just about everything, I am always pleasantly surprised when I stumble upon decent Asian food in other parts of the country. Yeah, yeah, yeah . . . I know that the Asian food world does not revolve around San Francisco, but I have been duped enough times by friends taking me to "really good [insert Asian country] food" enough time to justify my skepticism. In any case, we found this place on the way to BWI on a family recent trip and, to be honest, it really was more of an an anti-fast food choice than anything else. I am generally turned off by any Asian restaurant that has in it's name "chopsticks," "panda" or any other cute play on words. Plus, the writing was in that lame bamboo script. *bleh* But, guess what, it was darn good stuff. We tried the Boba Tea, Green Beans, Gyoza and Lo Mien . . . all VERY good and worthy of a return trip and four stars. Call me humbled and for that meal, well fed. After forgoing carry out during the pandemic, about a month ago I ordered food here that was notably better than in years past. I had orange chicken that was moist, tender, lightly breaded, and mildly spicy; with fried rice that was moist and very generous with veggies; and hot and sour soup with ample veg and tofu. I ordered the same items today, but the food was nearly inedible. The chicken was tough, stringy, and dry inside and the seasoning so peppery that I had blisters on my tongue and couldn't even taste the intended orange flavor, and the broccoli was raw, with no sauce on it at all, as if they stuffed a few bits in the container at the last minute because the "cook" forgot to stir fry it with the chicken; the soup was like brown gravy will little in it but mushrooms; the rice was disgusting: dry, flavorless, with about three tiny specks of carrot, one small pea, and one shred of egg the size of a fingernail clipping. I also got an egg roll this time, which was as tasty and toothsome as a toilet paper tube. I paid $30 for this, including a generous tip. Consistency in quality is critical. I got stuck at the doctor's office across the street and was starving. Ordered online about 20 min before I though I'd be done. Turned out I didn't finish for over an hour. And of course I didn't have my phone with me. So when I finally got to the restaurant to pick up my food it had been waiting for an hour. I didn't hold out much hope for it to be any good, but I was pleasantly surprised! I ordered the general tso's chicken with steamed dumplings and a spring roll (pick 3). The spring roll was soggy (as to be expected when it sat for an hour lol) but was tasty. The dumplings were delicious! And the chicken was really good, just a little spicy but good flavor and nice big pieces of chicken. Some broccoli would have been nice but I enjoyed it anyway. So, I'm in my hotel and after a long day of meetings I want some dinner. But it's raining, flooding, lightning, and sink-holding outside. What am I to do? Well like a perfect jerk face instead of venturing out on my own I ask the delivery driver to go out in this massive spring rain storm and bring me my vittles. The girl on the phone did warn me that it would take an hour to have the food delivered, but I was cool with that. It actually took an hour and 30 mins, but worth the wait. The driver had to navigate closed roads and torrential down pours, and he still got me my food while it was warm. I ordered the General Tsos Tofu and spring rolls. The portions are generous and very tasty. The broccoli that comes with the dish was crisp and tasted really good (and I don't really like broccoli). The spring rolls were not you're typical costco type that you see at many Chinese food restaurants, and were very good. Any time you're near BWI airport I would recommend this restaurant (or if you just live near by). Great food and they will risk getting washed away in a flood to get it to you. read more

Surprise, surprise this place has really good food. Upon first entering this place in a little shopping center in blue collar Elkridge impression is that space is small, too bright, small tables and charmless. Ordering is done at the counter, lots of folks of dubious intentions come in order and wait for takeout. After ordering we chose a table in the corner away from the people waiting for their food and relaxed. Wait was not long. The tofu and vegetable soup was fresh, palate cleansing and delicious. No greasy coating on the tongue as is often the case. Vegetable dumplings (really potstickers) had a bright flavor full of gingery snap. The spring rolls were fried perfectly though as expected the filling was standard. Also, ordered a pot of tea for a couple bucks. It was truly delicious with a floral scent. Real nice attention to detail on the small stuff here. We also got vegetable fried rice and vegetable lo mein. Both real nice, big portions and at a very reasonable price. Also got broccoli with chile sauce and General Tso tofu. The broccoli was cooked well, still with a bit of bite, the sauce was awesome too, not too gloopy. General Tso tofu also good, not a typical sauce, but nice spiciness for again (a theme here) very large portion. Packed up our own leftovers with very conveniently placed to-go cartons of various sizes. Grabbed a few fortune cookies and left some cash on the table despite the change filled tip jar on the counter. We felt this place earned it. So being that Chopstixx is my local delivery go-to, I've thoroughly explored and probably exhausted their menu over the last few months. My first few experiences were pretty lackluster, but mainly because I didn't order the right stuff. I kept giving them chances and have been decidedly adventurous with the menu because of the overall Yelp positivity, which I never take lightly. The conclusion I've arrived at is that what they make well, they make really well, and everything else is not particularly good or worth getting. There's honestly not much in between. I typically don't write reviews, but I'm not sure what has happened but the quality has greatly declined. I ordered shrimp egg foo young which I always get. The gravy is significantly thinner and watery with no flavor and the shrimp are not fresh at all. I'm very disappointed because this has been my go to since I've moved from Maryland. Delicious Chinese food at this small unimpressive restaurant. I order delivery service at least once a week I have ordered at least 12 different dishes and have never been disappointed. I usually order before four PM because their lunches are reasonably priced and have good sized portions. They use fresh ingredients and nothing I have ever eaten was overcooked or had soggy veggies, Their egg drop soup is delicious. The large sized shrimp in their dishes are plentiful compared to other similar restaurants in the area. The staff is friendly and helpful. Decided to try this place today. I placed an online order fifteen min before the store opened. They quoted me it would be ready by 11.15 I ordered the shrimp with lobster sauce and general tsos chicken. Maybe its ..all the other places I have had shrimp with lobster sauce but this one just wasnt good... There were about five shrimp, peas, carrots, and undercooked mushrooms. . .The chicken was ok but not great as well.. Chicken pieces were way too big and fatty. Got take out from here last night. I love being able to order online. I think it is genius for places to have that capability because people like me spend more money! The prices were very reasonable though so you get a lot for your money. Everything we got was fresh and tasty. The Szechuan shredded beef was the jam. I even got pho because I couldn't resist and it was pretty tasty. Good broth! The restaurant itself is almost your typical strip mall type place but once inside it feels much more cozy. I would definitely eat there when I probably would not at other like places. The staff was very friendly. They have a ton of drinks and teas. I couldn't resist and got a taro fusion tea and a chocolate frappe. Both were pretty good but very strong. Definitely will go to this place again!! read more

I believe they changed the cook. Everything tasted different. The veggies fried rice was dry and bland. The veggie fried rice had enough veggies. The pad thai was the only thing decent I ordered. But the shrimp was not good. I wish you had a choice of whatever meats you could add or not add. But it was just standard chicken & shrimp. I know for sure you are not suppose to have thai basil in the recipe that was a odd touch. If I wanted thai basil I would have craved drunk noodles which is suppose to have lots of thai basil. No lime to squeeze on my pad thai either. I loved there hot & sour soup. The soup was the closet soup to Chung King in Laurel which they closed. The soup use have a deep chicken broth flavor with spicy, and a tang. Now it's meh. They use to serve it with in house made "crispy wontons strips" so good I asked for 2 bags. Now they serve it with the cheap generic paper tasting wontons strips. Only giving 2 stars cause pad thai was meh ok. I would rather give one. The lunch special deal is pretty generous and just the right portion (you won't have a food baby after this), and includes crab rangoon if you're into those, for a reasonable $6.25. Problem is, the food is way too sweet. Kung Pao chicken (dark meat, no veg, no peanuts, extra spicy) is my standby and I always try this wherever I go. The Kung Pao here was only offered in white meat (boring) and was not at ALL spicy. Instead it was sugary sweet and tart - what is with Americanized Chinese being so dang sweet? I don't want dessert, I want a savory salty dish! Bleh! Same with the Chicken with Hot Garlic Sauce. Basically sweet garlic juice, yuck. Extra points for them having a traditional "street style" menu separate from the Americanized stuff. Also, for their cute boat presentations if you eat in. Service can be brusque depending on the day. Atmosphere is very divey but that doesn't mean it can't have good food. Problem is, the food here is just OK. Not bad, but not great. After reading a number of rave reviews, I was spectacularly disappointed by this standard-issue Chinese takeout joint. (There are a few tables in the tiny, drafty space, but it's really a takeout spot.) It was pretty noisy the night we arrived, between the television and the other patrons, and the guy at the register was also a little spacey, so he rang one meal up and I was signing the check before I realized he hadn't put in the second meal for my husband. Sigh. New check. I also hate when places want you to add a tip before you are actually served! I don't always have cash to leave at the end of the meal, and I don't want to add it to my credit card when I'm not sure how everything will go. As it turned out, the service was fine, but the food was solidly terrible. I ordered Mandarin-style fish and vegetables: There was a ton of fish (seriously, probably at least a dozen palm-sized pieces) and a handful of tiny snow peas for color. Everything was swimming in sauce, so the fish (which had been fried) was a little gummy on the outside. My husband ordered one of his favorite dishes, Ma Po Tofu; instead of being fried, as is the standard preparation for the dish, it was diced into tiny pieces and tossed with a thick brown sauce. Again, a ton of food -- at least enough for 4 people who enjoyed it (which he didn't.) No vegetables in sight. Neither of us took our leftovers home, figuring that if we disliked them the first time, we would really not enjoy them the next day. In fact, the memory of this meal is enough to make me not hungry. //FOOD\\ Their menu is pretty eclectic and a lot looks like standard American Chinese fare, but they also have some stuff that is closer to "authentic" Chinese depending on which menu you look at. So there's a big range of tastes in addition to options that might be confusing depending on what you're used to. For example, one Yelper mentioned how the Ma Po Tofu was not fried, I don't know what they're used to but this dish is usually served almost like a stew in actual Chinese cuisine, never fried (it's usually soft or silk tofu so it can't be). With the variety of styles on Chopstixx's menu, I'm not surprised if there are customers who wonder which style they'll get (me included). However, I've noticed that the "Street Meals" menu, although limited, caters more to the Asian palate. This is the one I usually order from, but I like having both menu options. I think that's a plus. For the most part, I only order one thing here, the Thai Style Fried Rice, which I really like. It's beef, chicken, and shrimp with lots of slices of spicy jalapeno and seasoned with fish sauce. It's closer to actual Asian cuisine tastes and not ladened with soy sauce and color like the usual American Chinese takeout fried rice. //SPACE\\ Like everyone else has said, the interior is pretty cramped.
