When I think about places that just make me really happy, this is by far one of my favorite. I probably eat here for lunch at least three or four times a week and every time I'm impressed by not only the amazing salads but how sweet, kind, friendly, and professional the entire team is. The general manager, Jackson definitely sets the tone for his team and is always so personable and has a warm smile. I know it's just a sad place but it's nice to know that he take such pride in their product and in the service they provide. And not to mention the salads are pretty amazing. A $10 salad is a hard sell for me in most instances but I'm happy to spend it for the quality that I get each and every visit. I have passed his place numerous times, but was always reluctant to go in because of how busy they always are. I guess this should have been a clue as to how good the salads are though-- but I still didn't feel like fighting a crowd. Also, viewing the menu through the window, I was always turned off by the price. I don't mind paying for a good meal, but averaging $10+ for a salad was a bit much for me. A manager at a client site I visited today took all her coworkers here for lunch today, so it kind of enticed me to at least give the place a try. When I arrived, once again, they were super busy. Upon entering, however, I was pleased to find an employee greeting me at the door, who's specific task at the time was to answer questions and "direct traffic." The experience was quick, fluid, and seamless! I ordered the Spicy Sonoma Ceasar, a special for the month it seems, and I was pleasantly surprised! They mix the ingredients in front of you for the salad you choose from the menu, or create yourself, then they pass it to the worker adjacent to them who, as the name of the place implies, "Chopt" it all up nice and fine, then added dressing of both the flavor and amount you desire. They then mix everything up evenly so each bite is well distributed of the ingredients... Very cool! Next station was the cashier. Again, one of the reasons I avoided the place up until now. $13.52 for a salad and a bottle of water-- ridiculous, in my opinion. That being said, the four staff members I encountered were super pleasant and happy to serve, and the salad actually was most certainly above average in taste and quality. Still not worthy of $13 though... Which is the only reason I can't give this place a higher rating. If I had to judge the salad solely on taste itself, even throwing customer experience in the mix, it would be a 4.5 for sure, only loosing half a point because they skimped a TAD on the meat. read more

This has become my favorite salad spot. Convenient location for commuters - right by the Rosslyn metro station so you already know parking is limited. I have always liked Chopt more than Sweetgreen....but they are essentially the same thing. I like creating my own salad. Since eating healthy tends to be expensive...this place is no different. If you are reading this and debating on what to get at Chop't, you should absolutely, without a doubt, get the chicken Tinga and if you don't get the chicken Tinga, you'll probably regret it. I sure love a delicious wrap made with fresh, organic ingredients! I have been ordering food from this restaurant for quite some time, but I don't think I've ever actually eaten there! The good: Chop't is all about those good-for-you ingredients, and what's not to love about that? The food I get here is always delicious and freshly made (right in front of you!). The bad: Parking here is the absolute worst if you're trying to go during the day. The construction across the street has taken half the parking spots on this block and has all but demolished the actual driving surface. I frequently order a wrap for myself and a bowl for my wife. On two separate occasions I have checked the bag and found two bowls! Both time they quickly swapped it into a wrap for me, but come on, it says it right there on the sheet! Also, this place is not cheap. You are definitely going to pay for those fresh ingredients that they are touting oh so much. My wife and I usually spend close to $20 after taxes and all that. Four out of five because the food is awesome, but pricey and good luck with parking! PRO TIP: You get more food if you order a bowl (and that wrap packs on the calories). read more

Friendly staff but DIRTY! The prep station is filthy! I was grossed out to see the amount of old food stuck underneath the metal containers as he switched out the empty avocado. All the toppings are mixed with other toppings that fall in because they move so quickly. It's gross. The bowl for my salad is sticky, gritty, and has finger prints all over it because of the staff's dirty hands while handling the bowls. It's just sloppy. YUCK! They need a better solution. Not the most amazing salad I've ever had but definitely decent. I went during lunch time (~12:15) on a workday and the line was pretty long; however, they were very efficient and I was in and out in around 10 minutes. I ordered the Palm Beach salad since it was my first time there and I got nervous so I just ordered off the menu (I saw avocado and chicken and just went for it lol). The salad was kind of flavorless and didn't seem like it was worth $11, so next time I go I'll for sure customize my order more so I can get exactly what I want! read more

Ordered 1 Cobb, 1 Caesar @6:54, was told a pickup time of 6:58. *Fantastic!* Head to the store, checked in with the cashier to confirm and was told they had my order. Sat to one side to wait. *All good* 7:03 Family of 3 come in, their orders are taken. *Ok...nbd* Then a couple comes in, their orders are taken *Ok...?* Single guy comes in, HIS order taken *?!?* 7:09 Cashier is just chilling, go to her and double check that my order is good. She offers me an order for 'Jessica' *nope* and then wordlessly runs to the back. She comes back a few minutes later with 2 pages and hands them to the (salad artists? salad makers?) and when I ask what gives, she catches an attitude with 'we just got your order sooooo, it's not OUR fault. You're gonna have to wait'. Except they took another 4 orders from a large family...? 7:14 Salad artist asks me for my order step by step, and I'm told there's no avocado for the Cobb. *coooooool*. Two stars overall, salad was great, service terrible. I felt like I annoyed the staff by ordering food. I stood there, only person in line, no one greeted me or asked to take my order, so I walked to the register and one person said to order over there, where I was, where the guy had ignored me so he could complete his side work. I had the spicy green papaya salad. So good! Their dressing deliciously mimicked the traditional green papaya salad I had in Thailand with the perfect amount of spiciness for me. The rice crackers gave the salad a great little crunch, and the watercress added a tiny bitterness to the salad that balanced it out nicely. I do think the salad could be chopped a little more as I like every bite to have a little of everything in it but my shrimp were mostly left whole. Inconvenient but not a huge deal. I just picked up a knife and cut it up myself at my desk. I've eaten at Chop't a few times before and walked away a little underwhelmed each time, so I have been avoiding eating here for over a year. I didn't have the time today to go all the way to Sweetgreen in Clarendon so I decided to pop in and try again. I'm glad I gave this place another chance! I took one star away for not chopping my salad enough (and not asking if it was chopped enough? It's in your name! And I went early. There wasn't even a line yet.) and for the portion. If you want a nice, quick, healthy meal, you should definitely try this place. Portions are generous but will run you typically ~$10. Tons of options for vegetables, meats, and dressing - you can order one of their pre-defined options or make your own. For your first time, the menu can be overwhelming - I mean it's freakin salad, can't believe there are so many choices. I recommend the Monterey Salad (Grilled chicken, pepper jack cheese, red onions and tortilla strips chop't with iceberg lettuce) with red wine vinaigrette. I personally love Chop't, regardless of the store that I visit. This particular one is very close to where I work, so it is very easy to access. I always have a delicious salad made very well, and quickly. The people working behind the counter are always very welcoming, but quick and thorough, especially around lunch time. The line can get very long, but I never seem to be waiting for a long period of time. As a company, I enjoy the seasonal changing salads, and the fact that they have "spa" dressings (lower calorie dressing) options that are still just as tasty. I had never seen the Rosslyn location like that before. I did notice that the place had been redecorated since the last time I was here. I checked to confirm that you still have Mexican Caesar dressing. My mouth probably hit the floor when the person helping me said they do not. She did say there is something a little like it though. Hmmm, how about steak. I didn't see the pieces of steak I used to get in my salad. She informed me that they don't have that either. All of a sudden it made perfect sense...there's nobody here because this isn't the chop't I knew and loved. After passing this place many times, I finally decided to stop in and try it out. I'm a big fan of SweetGreen, so I was hoping that Chop't would be similar, since it's closer to me. I got a chicken caesar salad, my favorite. The salad was pretty big, but one they chopped it up, it appeared to be much smaller than it actually was. The salad itself was okay at best. The caesar dressing was an oil and vinegar based, where as I prefer creamy caesar dressing. The lettuce was fresh, but the salad as a whole got to be very boring after a few bites. The dressing just wasn't that good, the chicken was kind of dry, and the only other parts of the salad were croutons and parmesan cheese. Definitely nowhere near as good as SweetGreen! Since I love a good caesar salad, I probably won't be returning. read more

I love this chain BUT, the manager at this particular branch treats his workers like crap and he is also REALLY stingy with customers. He hovers behind those making the salads and wraps and if any customer asks for a bit more of anything, he snatches the order form from the person making it and writes that you have ordered extra on it, charging you a whopping 2 or 3 dollars extra. He is the kind of person that sucks up to customers but is a slave-driver to his employees when customers aren't looking. Since I speak Spanish, I could talk to the employees and they affirmed that the manager is really rude and overpowering. It just ruins my experience when I see things like this. Finally, a place that specializes in salads in Rosslyn! If you are familiar with other "salad by design" places, this one works about the same as most: 1) Choose your green (5 choices) 2) Choose your toppings (50+) 3) Choose your dressing For $6 you get 4 ingredients. Before noon you can add an additional one for free. Adding meat costs an extra $2-3. If can also have your salad made into a wrap. (My fave is Ivy League - romaine, grilled asparagus, avocado, tomato, cucumber, corn, balsalmic) ADVICE: Call your order in over the phone about 15 minutes before you pick it up. You'll get to march straight up to the register and pay, instead of standing 15-20 deep in line to wait for a salad to be made. read more
