Went today to try this place for the first time with my friends. The food was okay and it's pricey. The service wasn't great either, not friendly, not organized and bad first impression. My friend ordered a wrap and had already paid and then all of a sudden they realized they were out of wraps and gave him a tiny salad compared to what I had. So I came in for lunch.. And after putting in my order and watching them make my food.. I was so angry with the place, I was ready to come back to computer and give this place a horrible review.. Got back to work, sat down at desk and the food was actually really good, so I am going with a four star. What happen was, I went in about 1pm. The place was packed and loud. The staff pulled us through very quickly which was okay, but it was so streamlined and it was so loud, they didn't really take the explain the menu or listen to what I ordered. I got a mexicali vegan salad. I wanted to order side of tempeh too, but the second I said the salad the staff person took off making the salad, never looked at me and started taking next persons order when she passed the bowl off to next person. I asked for it not chop't which I don't think they heard. So they mixed it together, which again isn't a big deal, but it starts to oxidize the food and lowers nutritional value. I asked for dressing on the side. Red Wine Vinegar. The guy fills this silo cup of vinaigrette. And I have to re ask for vinegar. I ask for only half the size container because the vinaigrette container was too much.. but they still filled it up all the way. Again really not an issue, but I don't like waste. The guy had also chop't into his hand.. and well he had a glove on and blood usually doesn't bother me, he probably should have had a bandaid on it so customers didn't have to see red. Then I asked for the Tempeh. And it comes in the tiny silo container, same one as salad dressing. For the price of the add on, I was expecting it to be a bigger portion. They ask if I want bread and gave me this paper thin piece of aluminum foil, to which my initial response was that is the tiniest, unbread like portion of bread I have ever seen. So I got back to my desk, the thin bread piece was actual a wheat tortilla. Pretty good. My salad tasted fine. The small portion of tempeh was actually fairly filling. So I think I was quick to judge. But I'm not going back at lunch time again when it is so loud. If staff wasn't so rushed and could actually hear me, i would have had a much better experience. read more

I love coming here for lunch. No line (save Panera) moves people in and out this quickly yet offers the healthiest options in midtown. The 20+ salads on this menu include calorie count, suggested dressing and the calorie count for the dressing as well. The only thing missing is the kick boxing instructor telling you how awesome you are for picking Chop't rather than Essn' buffet. My love is the Mexicali Vegan with Mexican goddess dressing. Light yet filling, this salad is one of the lighter options available (sans meat) that won't give you the afternoon drop (avocado, hearts of Palm, romaine, beans, crushed tortilla chips, jalapeños, tomatoes). The best part is that this restaurant gives you calorie counts/ingredients for all salads and dressings so you can decide on what you deserve to eat that day. If you've been really good all week, try their cookies or brownies-their "health conscious" items, whatever that means when it comes to carbs! I didn't like anything about my chop't experience: the food, the menu, the service, the price. I usually get salads elsewhere, but my colleagues convinced me to try chop't today. I thought the topping portions were really small. Didn't really matter though, because they weren't very good. The black beans and corn had no taste. Other ingredients weren't much better. The lettuce itself was disappointing too: the romaine was a bunch of stalks and cores, and not much leafy green. Tortilla chips weren't the nice strips of flour tortillas you get at some places, but were plain corn chips instead. The dressing was OK, but nothing special, especially compared to some of the outstanding ones I have had at Just Salad. The "bread" is a joke...it is a slice of a whole wheat wrap. Price wasn't terrible, but it does cost a dollar more than it says on the website, which is annoying, not to mention that I didn't feel like I get a whole lot of value for my money. The service was pretty frantic. Maybe that is fine if you know exactly what you are getting, but not very welcoming for a new customer. read more

Having been a big fan of chop't throughout my years in college in DC- I was ecstatic to find out that there was one just a few block from my office! One thing to note is that even though the address is 100 Park Ave- the entrance is actually not on Park as it's an office building. You have to walk around park to 40th street and the entrance is halfway down the block. That being said- this location is great- very mean and modern and there is a HUGE space for waiting. (big plus in comparison to the Just salad a few blocks away) At least while you're waiting in line- you don't feel like you're always in someone's way. The line also moved incredibly fast as they have so many chopping/prep stations. Food tastes the same as what I remember from my college days! read more

I ordered an NYC Streetcart salad which was supposed to have: FreeBird chicken shawarma, cauliflower radish tabbouleh, roasted tomatoes, English cucumbers, pita chips, romaine & purple cabbage. Nothing special... Stopped in for lunch with a friend and it was my first time here. I think I ordered the Cobb salad (not sure because it wasn't that memorable). The line was long but the service was quick - like really quick. It was kind of confusing to order as a first-timer and the workers behind the counter just want to chop and push you along the way. Good choice if you're looking for a salad at lunchtime. I work in the area and have come here a couple of times. It's a popular lunch destination for those in Midtown East so avoid peak hours if possible. I've seen the line coil around the restaurant in some instances. There's a good variety of salad-based options. I'm a fan of the Braised Chicken Tinga (on the Hot-Top Salads menu) and the Mexican Caesar if I'm in the mood for something more basic. Portions are pretty good and it's on the pricier side (i.e. $10 for the kale caesar with chicken), which is aligned with its competitors. I leave satisfied when in the mood for salad and eating an earlier lunch. It's worth checking out if you're never been to one before, especially if you enjoy specialty salads. read more

I ordered a salad online and was pretty disappointed with what showed up. For a salad that cost almost $18 there were hardly any choppings. I paid $2.99 for chicken and there was less than 1/4 cup of it in my whole salad! Essen is right around the corner and gives more choppings for half the price. Great salad place! First time here- love how they prepare the salads to be "chop't"; really mixes all of the flavors and ingredients so you get a little of everything in every bite. Had the steakhouse salad and tried both the blue cheese and the bacon Russian dressing mixed in the salad. Awesome choice on my part ;) Great lunch spot! read more

I love Chop't. No matter what time of day. For some reason, although very simple to make, I cannot make my salads to taste like Chop't salads, so I always end up spending around $11 on a salad bowl. I'm so happy I have two Chop't locations near me now, probably will be spending a fortune there. I'm going to take advantage of the Chop't app, where you get $10 for spending $100. I usually get the Cobb salad - I tell myself that I will get something different everytime, but I end up just getting that. The portion is great, I get full after eating about half the bowl. The workers are really polite and extremely quick. Lines during lunch time go out the door but I can usually get my food in 10 mins. I can sit here all day and say how great Chop't is, but I'm sure everyone knows! read more

Let me preface this review with: I friggin love Chop't. As a Flex-tarian (I try to mostly eat vegetarian and vegan when I'm really on top of it) I was elated to have this location open right as I started my new job around the corner. Previously I was devoted customer to the 52nd Street location. In general chop't seems very pricey for a salad, but IMO for NYC you get a high volume for the price & I'm always full for the day if I can manage to eat the whole thing. Yes, there are loads of make your own salad bars in the city that are cheaper but until you point me to one that will give me Kale, Spinach, & Arugula with Quinoa, Smoked Tofu among other toppings with Mexican Caesar dressing, I am sticking with this chain. So they also have me hooked on the variety they provide for whatever way my diet is flexing at that time. This location is well placed for me, but may not be all that visible from Park Ave? So be ware. Went for a late lunch it was pretty much dead. The staff seemed a little slow at this hour but were accommodating. (Perhaps the regular lunch hour was insane & they were tired?) The space was clean, large, decked out like any other Cop't is. All the ingredients were very fresh and she did not over chop anything. I can also speak to their delivery! It was accurate and fast but again I'm legitimately around the corner on Madison so it's not as if they had far to go and I may have ordered just before the peak time. All in all, I felt like I was overdue for a Chop't Review since I'm basically addicted. This one ranks as high as the others in the city, that I've been to anyway. read more

The food is good. The recommended salads are definitely worth trying. Their food is simply delicious especially the wraps. However - do be warned - everyone knows how good it is and the lines at lunch time can be long. I definitely recommend giving yourself a good ten minutes to get your food between waiting on line, prep work and paying. After visiting Chop't, I can only conclude that either I just picked the wrong ingredients or my neck of the woods has too many health conscious crazed maniacs who's taste buds have gone on strike after years of munching on leaves instead of cake. To be frank, there is nothing special about Chop't. They provide salads. And you get to pick some ingredients and some dressing. It is exactly identical to every other salad establishment in a 10 mile radius. Their toppings are ordinary, their dressings (or in my case, balsamic vinaigrette) are traditional, and their choice of salads are plain. In fact, my review can really be summed up in two words: not creative. So if you like salads, and are willing to wait in line during the crazy hectic lunch hour, this is a good place as any. First off, I am a carnivore... and I hate salads... but this place makes some of the best salads a carnivore would eat lol! I go in here around 2pm and there's always a line... the place is really cold, but probably because to keep the lettuce and other vegetables crisp? You walk in and there's a great ambiance. A little dark and cool place and the green captures the "salad" look (although I really don't know what the salad look is). I love their logo which is the chopper that they use! How cool! Their menu is huge and they also have your own customized salads which I'd say to forget because they charge you by topping. Just grab one that they have out there already and you'll be fine trust me! My all time favorite is the Mexican Caesar with chicken and black pepper! One of my go to lunch spots. If you're looking to make your own salad and pick your own ingredients, I would suggest 1 of the million other salad places near by (Hale and Hearty, Just Salad, etc). When you come to Chop't you should pick one of their salads off their menu. If you must make variations, keep it to 1 or 2. The choppers put all the ingredients together before you have a chance to say "No peppers please". My Chop't choice: the Kale Caesar salad (which is half kale and half romaine) with Panko chicken and I'll swap out the croutons for the Parmesan quinoa crisps, if they have them. Don't be deterred if the line is out the door. The staff is super quick and you'll be out of there in no time. Also, I recommend downloading the Chop't app. Every $100 you spend, you get a $10 credit (basically a free salad). Plus you can pay with your phone. read more

I'm a big fan of Chopt salads, partially because they are chopped. The other places are good, but the chopped aspect makes the salad much more enjoyable. The staff has always been accommodating and friendly, so have no complains there. They have a broad selection of ingredients, and I always add on extras. That said, there are limitations. There are long lines during lunch hour, so I always order ahead and pick it up, although others chose to have it delivered. The pickup times are too early, so I tend to pad the suggested pick up time with 5 to 10 minutes. I hate their sodas, so just get water. All this negativity, but I love their salads. read more

Good selection of salads but overpriced. A salad is a salad when it comes down to it, so having to paying close to 12 dollars for a salad is a lot. You can say that you are paying for their specials or unique flavors but just getting a regular salad can cost a lot. They are very effective with their setup, having 2 separate stations, 1 for your salad selection and 1 for chopping. Overall, if it's near where I am or someone wants to go there, I will go.
