While I find the food selection in Midtown to be very...mid, you cannot argue the fact that there are a ton of quick service spots to choose from for lunch. Since I periodically work in the area, I have been slowly making my way through the selection - there really is something for everyone which isn't surprising since there are a ton of office buildings here. Anyway, I was in the mood for something light the other day and a salad sounded ideal. I noticed this Chopt was in the area, so off I went. This was my first experience at a Chopt, but I had heard of them before and have been to similar quick service salad spots. I noticed that they had an app where you can pre-order, so to save time I did that. The selection was typical of a salad spot - nothing too out of the ordinary but I noticed that they also had a selection of wraps and warm bowls which was nice to see. I browsed their summer menu and the Sweet Summer Cobb Salad sounded great - it was more like a cousin to a typical Cobb, meaning it didn't have the egg or tomato but put in almonds and beaches in its place. The salad was pretty good, the flavors worked well together and the agave dijon vinaigrette it was dressed with was just the right amount of sweet. Service was fine, my salad was ready by the time I got there - and overall I had a fine experience at Chopt. I hesitate to call it something noteworthy, but also it wasn't bad. If I'm in the mood for a Midtown salad again I would return. read more

This was my first time going to Chopt in a decade, and now I remember why I don't go there. Service wise, the staff was fine, but it is a bit hard to hear the staff when they ask you questions such as what you want in your bowl. The wait wasn't too bad during the lunch rush as people have placed to be and can't be on the line too long. While Chopt is known for its variety of salad bowls and wraps, I found my Blissful Harvest Bowl to be filled more with grains. The ratio of grains: protein wasn't in proportion and not well balanced. The grains, as they call it, are a large amount of rice mixed with a small amount of quinoa, which was a bait and switch, in my opinion. I expected a healthier grain selection, and I particularly didn't like the goat cheese or the balsamic vinaigrette. I did add some extras to my purchase, chips, and a mediocre chocolate chip cookie. I think this location got too used to the mad lunch rush as a result of being in midtown because their service has gone downhill. I went with a coworker at about 1:30pm for quick salad between meetings. I know I've ordered from this location from the first time they opened but stopped going with as much frequency due to the lack of good service. So after much time apart, I was looking forward to a decent experience. I expected too much for the $15 salad. I ordered a spicy Sonoma salad. The order was taken quickly and properly. The person making the order made the salad- and when I got the bowl, I saw no avocado and no cherry peppers. I grabbed a fork before ringing up, and did a quick poke, brought it back to him and let him know. He looks at the bowl, asked the type of salad, sees no avocado and looks like he's going to the next station to get one, then I say there's also no cherry peppers. He turns to the person next to him and then they proceed to pick through the salad with their gloved hands, and tell me it's there, like I can't see there's no red in a sea of green leaves, as they pull it apart. Then the look like they're about to give it back to me after putting the leaves back in the bowl. I know that my measly $15 means nothing to Chopt, least of all this location, where they never get your order correct, skimp on quality and service, but you will not get my money. And I will be sure that every colleague I have in the midtown area goes anywhere else but here: Cava, Dog, Naya, Just Salad, Blue Apron....anywhere but this place. Hire better staff. I complained to the manager, pointed out the staffers and left to buy my meal next door at Blue Apron. Too bad Yelp mandates a minimum of 1 star because you should get none. read more

I ordered a Chopt salad for lunch pick-up through the app, to get some vegetables in after some heavy holiday feasting. This Chopt location is so crowded during peak lunch hours on weekdays and is very poorly organized. They have shelves at the front for pick-up that are not used. Instead, there are two registers for check-out (if you get your salad made using the line) and pick-up. When you give your order number, they look through their shelves to see if your salad is ready. If it isn't, sometimes they print off your ticket number to get it made right away, sometimes they bring it to the back kitchen, I'm honestly not sure how they determine what to do. For my first attempt, the employee didn't see my salad on the shelves, although the app told me it was ready. Ten minutes later, I went to the other employee who did see it on a bottom shelf, so it must have been overlooked the first time. I saw two customers leave because their pick-up orders weren't ready after waiting for awhile, and they said to just cancel them. There is no consistent process, and it is more of a mob than a line of people. In regards to food, I love their warm Harvest bowl, which has the perfect salty/sweet flavor profile with warm grains, lemon herb dressing, chicken, brussel sprouts, sweet potato, kale and pumpkin seeds. It is a little pricey ($14), but generous portion sizes and much more filling than some competitors like Sweetgreen. If it were for the food only, I would give it 4 stars, but deducting a star for the experience. read more

I like this new location they opened in midtown, it's really convenient and their salads are great! service is pretty quick too. Try their special dressing, you can ask for it on the side. I got their mexican goddess dressing on the side and it was surprisingly good, better than my original boring creamy caesar dressing mixed in. They stack the salad really high and it does come out to be pretty expensive for a huge bowl of salad. I got lucky and came here when they had a promotion and they were giving out their salads for free so I got to put a whole lot of topping on it. I added shrimp, breaded chicken and steak with beets, avacado, corn, homemade croutons and cheese. I don't normally review quick lunch spots but I would be REMISS if I did not tell yelp to GO HERE! I love CHOPT! I moved to NYC about a year ago, and before then, I had never had a salad I really enjoyed, craved, actually wanted to go out of my way and get. That all changed with Chopt. Per my sister's recommendation, I ordered a Kale Caesar w/ their Spicy Chipotle Chicken. I got Mexican Caesar dressing. And folks, I was in LOVE. Firstly, the way they chop and mix is phenomenal and now if my salad isn't chopped up and mixed with dressing then I don't even enjoy it anymore, chopt spoiled me! Their Chicken tastes so fresh and I love the added spice to it - the kale and romaine are super fresh, croutons and great , but the real winner is Mexican Caesar dressing. It's perfect spicy, delicious, and creamy. PRO TIP - Get a little lime or lemon squeeze with your salad as well. Highly recommend. I've been to Chopt twice, and each time has been satisfactory, but nothing amazing. The service is definitely quick and efficient, and it's a solid place for lunch (especially if you work nearby). The queue is always pretty long which is a bummer, but it passes quicker than it seems like it will. I always order off their menu because the options are so overwhelming. The crispy chicken ranch salad is my go-to, but they have other interesting sounding options. I don't usually come here of my own accord, but I also never oppose it when others suggest it. Make your own salad, is really nice and it allows you to decide how much you want to eat. They have many options and you will always find a line there. However, the line does indeed move quickly and within 10 minutes your out. This location is pretty big, but it gets VERY crowded with long lines around lunch time since it is in a very busy work area. I would recommend to order ahead of time before you go to avoid the wait. I enjoyed my salad except I felt like they did not actually chop it up enough this time, which I really do enjoy. I like going to chopt for my salad fix because i like the options and ingredients they have. My salad today was pretty good, I mostly just have a problem with the people working here. I came around 1pm which is always a crowded time for them, no big deal I don't mind waiting in line. However they always have an employee to help move the line along and tell people where to go. Today I ordered my salad and then while I was waiting in line for it to be chopped, the lady kept ushering people through the people waiting to get their salad chopped which was really annoying to have people constantly bumping into you! Then the person who "chopped" (he actually threw it into the bowl without chopping it at all) my salad asked for which dressing I wanted but didn't bother waiting for me to say how much or how little I wanted. He just put it in the bowl and handed it to me. To top it all off while paying the lady asked if I wanted bread I said yes and she never put it in. I didn't realize till I got back to my office and I wasn't going back to deal with the disaster that is currently there. I have never been a "salad lover", but since I've found this place, I'm eating salads EVERY day. The location is impeccably clean at any time of the day. The best part of this location are the employees. Starting with Eva the manger (lunchtime). She can do 5 things at one time, with every thing done to perfection. My issue with this Chop't location in particular, is 90% of the time, something in my order is wrong. Recent mishaps have included: -Missing chicken -Missing dressing (twice) -Missing quinoa -A missing salad altogether, even though I mentioned the bag felt light and the woman assured me my entire order was there If consistency is the key to a good restaurant, this Chop't location completely fails. On the positives, similar to other Chop't locations, ingredients are fresh and there's a great variety of options. Felt Ripped Off.. Felt ripped off the last time I went to Chopit on 42nd Street opposite Bryant Park. Felt that they charged more for the same salad that they had at their place on Amsterdam at 75th St. Order Spinach & Kale, Roasted Chicken, Corn, Edamame, Blue Cheese, Avocado... The same salad that I ordered at their Westside store cost me $10.50... Here on 42nd Street it cost me $13.99. Half the time I don't know if their help knows what their charging. During lunch hours they seem overwhelmed and put anything down to expedite.. and it will usually not be in your favor. Watch what you get and question it if you feel you're being overcharged. Really turned me off to the place which I really initially liked. There's enough competition out there to look at alternatives if you are into salads. read more
