Think "Coldstone for salad". Start with the greens; add in the meat, cheese, etc; then chop it all together and you have the concept. The manager contacted me after my last review. I also sent an email to their website. He apologized for the service and mailed me cards for two free salads. I just used the second one today and I had much better experiences both times. Fresh, cheap and CREATIVE! my favorite salad place of all times! Whats even better? They got rainy day specials for around 5bucks, what else can you ask for?! This placed looked very promising to a vegetarian traveler. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately my salad was sadly disappointing. It was all arugula. The other ingredients added to compliment the mild bitterness of arugula were barely found. You can imagine what a mouthful of that tasted like. I might have thought it was just a fluke except that my friend's romaine lettuce salad was similarly made. Reading the other reviews, I would considering giving it another chance if I was still in the area as it may have been preparer dependent. Had two salads here this week, one a classic Cobb and the other a highly customized Palm Beach spicy shrimp salad with hearts of palm, apples and beets. Both were superb. This location is usually good but today a Hispanic woman broke several guidelines and I'm sure health guidelines as well. First of all, I told her I wanted to create my own salad. I told her I wanted double chicken, kale and corn. For the "double" amount , she only put 2 pieces chicken on the salad. I asked her why would she only put two pieces when I'm paying $4 more for EXTRA chicken. She put one more piece and seem annoyed I even mentioned it. Then she proceeded to fix the next salad. While throwing food into the bowl really fast and being sloppy, she threw some cheese on my salad. I'm lactose intolerant. I waited to see if she would remove the cheese and she didn't! I told her to please give me another piece of chicken because the piece of cheese landed on it. Also the woman behind me told her as well because we both noticed it. i cannot believe that i haven't reviewed this place yet. as a slightly obsessed customer, i suppose i was too busy salivating over my next order to remember to type something out about the deliciousness! not everyone gets excited about a salad, but chop't surely can make you a believer. the prices are good for the amount of food that you get--it also helps that my all time favorite order is the santa fee wrap; one of the cheapest items on the menu. a wrap also could be two meals, but i can never stop eating! another bonus is that the people working there are supremely efficient (do not be turned off by the long lines, they move at surprising speeds) and really nice. read more

Definitely the best salad place around. The staff here is very friendly and the restaurant is clean and orderly. If you go at lunch there is quite a line so ordering ahead might be the best option if you are in a hurry. There are so may fresh and delicious topping options and over a dozen salad dressing flavors. The only down side is that making a custom salad can add up really quickly. A custom salad can easily cost over $10. The salad is large, definitely filling, and absolutely delicious. read more

This place is a live changer. If I could eat at one place every day it would be here. All the food is very fresh and everything is made in house fresh such as the dressings. The food is healthy instead of eating nasty fatty foods at fast food joints. I think Chop't will become big world wide as a healthy selection to pick up while on the run. read more

Very large salad. I would definitely go back but would have to share a salad with someone. The price is a little pricey for me, paying $14 for a salad seems a little bit excessive. But I really liked what I got for lunch. I did a create your own with a bunch of different toppings on it and the buttermilk ranch dressing which was good too. Delicious salads and VEGAN friendly!!! I got the Mexicali Vegan. The Mexican Goddess dressing is vegan and it's delicious! Tons of veggies. They even offer tofu and falafel as protein options!!! I absolutely love Chop't, but not this location. I came in today to get the seasonal cobb salad. They were out of the lettuce that it is made with. It's a small thing, but actually makes a big difference in the taste. I also added shrimp, but as I sit here eating my salad, I realize that was left out. It wasn't busy at all either. After the next person in line chopped my salad, he put the dressing on without asking how much or if i want salt & pepper like they always do at other locations. While the staff was friendly, they seemed like they could care less. I will stick to my usual location on 7th. read more

My first visit this past weekend after a long, hot tour of the Arlington and Smithsonian areas in DC. What a find! Love salads and found I could custom make mine or choose one from the huge menu on the wall where you first come in. I had Romaine, beets, walnuts, red peppers, chicken, and much more in mine. Mixed with just the right amount of Balsamic Vinaigrette. After the salad parts are assembled and the large bowl is heaped full, it's all dumped out on a marble countertop and chopped! Then back in the bowl for you to enjoy eating in or take it home. I definitely want to return to this gem! read more

Love this place! Was here for a conference and ate here twice. Delicious salads, inexpensive, fresh, and ever so quick and friendly. Exactly what was needed after the conference food. It was crowded which is a good sign but also hard to find a seat. A guy tripped on his way to his table carrying salad and it landed on my shoes and in my purse. Wow, what a great place. The secret is to come here at dinner time. At lunch hour rush, the place is mobbed. But at 6pm or 7pm or 730pm, you can get the same great salads. I like the Chop't Po'Boy. Excellent! I have probably eaten here 50-70 times. Never a bad experience. I really like the concept that they will cut the salad up for you. The portions are gigantic. Staff is always in an upbeat mood and eager to please. That is rare these days. No matter what, they don't go through the motions. Great place. Do not order online unless you are interested in getting a mystery salad- they include random ingredients you didn't order and omit ones that you did. Online orders are also NEVER CHOPPED UP, as they should be given the name "chopt". If you're willing to wait in the long line during lunch time then you can expect to get a decent salad that will include you actually want. Order online and expect to get a random mix of things you didn't order, not mixed well, and not at all chopped. Wish there was a Sweetgreen closer to metro center. read more

I have eaten at Chop't for 3 weeks straight. My three weeks of salad eating has given me ample time to test out all the various combinations, I'd want to try and I have yet to be disappointed. I have also gone to the locations at Gallery Place and Dupont and like this one the best. It's so delicious I want to go out and buy one of those special choppers they have. Have it your way big salads and I mean BIG salads! I would suggest this for lunch on the weekend or late during the week. During the week it is CRAZY busy with lines outside the door because it is just that good. Besides, you'll have enough for lunch and dinner! Basically you browse through a cold line buffet telling the server behind the counter what you want in your salad. The variety is huge so you might want to take some time to review the menu before you get in line. There is a variety of greens, proteins, veggies, fruit and accessories. Don't feel like making it up? They also have specials and house selections. I didn't give it five stars because of the noise, lack of seating and long lines on week days.
