First time at this location, we have visited the one off Shawnee Mission Parkway before. I ordered the Bibimbap. It was a very large portion and everything was cooked perfect and was very fresh. They brought out a few dipping sauces for my bowl. The other people in our group got the BBQ. It did include salad and unlimited banchans. All of it seemed very fresh. The main issues were a few of the orders got messed up and someone got charged for an expensive dish. I feel like for the price of the bbq. They need more sauces and a few more sides. read more

Came here on a Saturday for lunch. It was not that busy but service was pretty slow. In the end we got all our things but it did take a while to get everything for kbbq. Chosun Korean BBQ is hands down one of my favorite spots in Overland Park. They have such a wide variety of cuts of meat and authentic Korean dishes to choose from. My absolute favorite **and what I order every single time** is the kimchi jjigae. It is honestly the best kimchi jjigae I've ever had in my life, and I don't say that lightly. I've tried this dish all over the world, and Chosun's version is by far my favorite. Their Banchans are always SO delicious and well portioned. Their cheesy corn: a heavenly experience!! Sometimes it can get very busy, so your best bet might be ordering takeout if you don't want to wait. That said, I really enjoy the dine-in experience too. On occasion, it feels like they're a little short-staffed, but the entire team is always so kind and friendly that it never takes away from the experience. Before I start this review I just want to preface: I'm a snob and I lived in South Korea for a few years. When we first walked in, it took a while to get acknowledged and seated. It wasn't very busy and there was no line to be seated. We both ordered dolsot bibimbap. It did take a while and our bowls did not come to us at the same time. We had only three plates of ban chan. I've been to several Korean restaurants in the Midwest and west coast and I've never had this little ban chan. I was a little disappointed. The dolsot bibimbap was VERY good. I liked it. I went to this restaurant for the first time. The restaurant looked nice and modern. It had good reviews on Google. Unfortunately, I had an absolutely terrible dining experience. We ordered Galbi, beef tongue for grill, galbi tang and Ojingeo-bokkeum (spicy stir fried squid). Marinated Galbi was not flavorful, and was priced $34 for just 2 super thin sliced pieces. Galbi tang and Ojingeo-bokkeum were decent. Banchan wasn't good at all. We only enjoyed the beef tongue. Speaking of service, nobody really came to our table to see if we needed more banchan or refilled our water. It took a while to flag down our server to change our grill. We had a friend in from Poland who insisted he have Bibimbap while visiting. A group of 12 of us met him there for dinner. This was the first time any of us had been to this restaurant. The restaurant decor is inviting and warm. Felt modern and clean. Our waiter was on top of it. He provided menu guidance, explained many things, and provided great service throughout our dinner experience. My wife and started with Edamame and fried shrimp appetizers. Both were disappointing. The Edamame was plain. No seasoning, no flavor. The shrimp were straight from the freezer case at the local Asian grocery store. And overcooked. We order beef Bulgagi and pork belly. The bulgagi was delicious. Delicate thin and flavorful. The pork belly was bland. I ended up bringing it home and doctored it up. Several in our group liked their food. Others were not impressed. Service was good and attentive, but food wasn't worth the price. Very big, "American" portions except when it came to the meat. Japchae (noodles, $18.99): Heavy on the sauce and possibly overcooked because this was way too soft. My friends liked it so it depends how you prefer your japchae. This can easily serve at least 4 people as an appetizer, possibly more. Pajeon (pancake, $18.99): This was okay. I thought it was too thick, maybe because of the seafood? Again, pretty big portion size. It'd be worth it for the size, but the flavor isn't great. Banchan (included): For some reason, the cucumber was weirdly mushy even though it was my favorite banchan. The kimchi banchan was also pretty flavorful and spicy. It complemented the other oilier foods nicely. Special combo, C3 ($66.99): Good way to try different types of meat, but nothing special. I've been to many Korean Grills, We ordered the Seafood Hot Pot and Pork Belly to grill. The Hot Pot was very tasty, but the seafood was frozen, dumped into the broth. The squid was rubbery and fish had very little meat. The pork belly was thick cut and not flavor. Spent $ 100 for everything, not a good value for what we got. The meat could have been fresher. If you're looking for decent Korean food in the KC area, here it is. It won't be cheap, the side dishes are lacking (one is sliced hot dog, and they make kimchi out of celery?), and it can be hit or miss, but it's good enough to occasionally fill a hole in my heart for Korean food. BARBEQUE What you must know before coming to Chosun is you're better off choosing individual meats than picking a combo. As shown in the review photos, the combo was one plate of assorted meat + one plate of chadol (thinly sliced prime brisket), which was supposed to feed 3-4 people but would've only filled two people out of out party of four. We ended up ordering three more individual plates of meat, and I wish we would've started with that approach. When added up, the individual plates don't cost much more than the combos, and you can't even compare the difference in portions. Notes: - Cheese corn goes *so* well with kbbq, and Chosun makes it well - Chosun provides salad, rice, (Korean chili paste sauce), and the usual sweet soy sauce and salt/pepper/sesame oil sauce, but no garlic or peppers. Years ago, they used to provide lettuce wraps, but they don't anymore SOUP - Skip the soondubu (spicy seafood soup). Unfortunately, it tastes pretty flat. - The naengmyun (cold buckwheat noodles) is good on a hot day, though the broth definitely needs plenty of mustard and vinegar. Similar story with the dubu kimchi (kimchi with pork and tofu) and the gopchang jeongol (stew with beef intestine and tofu)--decent when you're craving it - Would recommend the yookgaejang (spicy beef soup). Google got me with this one. It was somewhat authentic but wasn't tasty nor fresh to be honest. Kimchi-jjigae tasted like soy bean jjigae....Ssamjang was watery...(-_-) We ordered C3 combo BBQ and meats were cheap so it wasn't good. They only had plain pork belly so our server said they could bring pork belly "spicy" and just brought Gochujang on the side and called it "spicy" (-_-;) Absolutely disappointed with food quality. Amazing food. Not cheap at all, but super high quality and worth the price. The bulgogi was juicy and flavorful and came with a wonderful side salad perfectly dressed with sweet miso (?). The banchan (side dishes) were delicious and four came with the bulgogi. The packaging was careful with plenty of foil in the styrofoam boxes to ensure minimal leakage which was appreciated. There really isn't much else around here so it's hard to compare it to anything else. I guess it will be more of personal rating. On to the food I think it's a bit lacking for what you are paying for. It's quite expensive and the side dishes are kind of lacking. Most just seems like packages from the store. Service wise, I don't blame the servers. They are understaffed and are trying their best. If anything it's on the owners to schedule more people this place will definitely be down to 3 stars if it wasn't for the hard working girls. I'll come back for my kbbq itch some time. read more

This a hard rating. We had a going away dinner with family & friends and that is what made the evening special. The service is very lacking and there was enough help for the number of patrons. While seated right away, it was quite a while yo get offered drinks and to start our order. There was no inquiry if we've ever been there and bo assistance. Had a family member not known what to do we would have been a bit disappointed. Food was good - some more than others. Tables are too small for 6 people to eat comfortably with all the dishes invoked for Korean BBQ. There really wasn't any server attention to see how we were doing and /or assist. We had to get up from the table a number of times to get our servers attention. The staff sat at the bar folding silverware with their backs to the customers. Given the automatic 18% gratuity we shouldn't be asking for service. Chosun is good if you want to spend lavishly, since it can get quite expensive, so going with a group of people and splitting the check is the recommended. They have good meat and food overall. But the main reason I'm giving it three stars is the management won't give extra services if the wait is long or something to cover the wait. If you plan to order fried chicken, expect to wait at least 30min or looooonger if you order a lot of chicken because they have only one machine to fry the chickens. I heard they recently added this chicken menu but if they're going to compete with GoGoDak, at least be prepared, or else no one is going to go back and wait for about 1hour and 45min to have all their food out. My all-time favorite Korean Restaurant in the Overland Park, KS area! They have the best service and very good meat options for Korean BBQ. It is a bit pricey so come with others to split the bill! The portions are big with the Combo options. Sometimes when it's not too busy the server would help cook for you if you're new to the whole Korean BBQ experience.
