This used to be one of my favorites that I visited often but it has gone down. The past couple times I went, it just wasn't the same. I went once recently & my water tasted like whiskey. I'm not sure how that even happens. Also the cloth napkins smelled like mildew. The next time I went my fried dumplings were cold. We sent them back & were told we could get another batch at a discounted price because we ate some of the first batch. I'm not sure how you know your food is cold unless you eat some. I did tell the manager that was unacceptable & she ended up just taking the cold food back & took off the bill & we went without hot dumplings but I think that's ridiculous it was even proposed to me. Mistakes happen & thats ok but you need to take care of it. If I make mistake at my job, I must correct it so not sure why she expected me to eat cold food or pay extra for them to fix hot food. I have been going to Chow Yum Phat for years now. I started spending a ton of time in BR during the pandemic, and even after that, when I went back to LSU for my Bachelor's degree. This comfy Asian fusion eatery has become my go-to place. Chow Yum Phat has never missed! Chow Yum Phat has some of the most creative and flavorful ramen dishes I've ever tasted. My favorites are Oskar's Wild, The Addie (retired), The Firebird, and Crispy Fish Curry, which are excellent! You can customize the dishes however you want; many add-in options allow you to add your creative flare to the meal. The creativity starts with the appetizers. The Cygon Rib Stack, softshell bao kit, Mandu dumplings, and Pho Totchos are terrfic. They offer a great drink selection, which rotates, so ask about the drinks when you stop in. The customer service is always friendly and present. The restaurant is stationed under the overpass, but plenty of parking exists. I've dined here, and the vibe is perfect. The Ronin's ramen I did feel like it was missing something so I added chili oil and that made it really good. Our server was really funny and nice. Service was wonderful. We came here with a couple who had an anniversary. We didn't make a reservation. There was a small wait and unfortunately the area is very small so the wait area doesn't really exist. When we got seated it was super cute and the server was wonderful. We ordered a few drinks and got some appetizers. My daughter got the fried rice with brisket and it was very good- even better the next day. I got this spicy shrimp noodle dish. It was VERY spicy which wasn't an issue for me. However, one of my friends ordered and she couldn't eat it. We got the tater tot nachos which the flavor was amazing but unfortunately the tots did not hold up they just fell apart. We also ordered pho dumplings which were good. The bread pudding was amazing. Ok. I've been craving ramen and was in town pulled the restaurant up on Yelp because it was on the route to the house I was headed and bingo! I hit the jackpot. I ordered the crispy fish curry noods made with golden coconut curry with peanuts. If you shellfish or peanuts allergies this is not the meal for you, but fear not it was labeled on all the meals. I liked that the menu was labeled with allergies. This place is definitely a gold mine and it's on my list of favorites for now. So glad I found this joint today. Oh and while waiting for my food the waiter said I was gorgeous. So yeah this is one of my favorite spots until otherwise. read more

I came here with my significant other for a date night, and sadly I didn't get pictures of the food, which was insanely delicious. And our server, Meridian, was so on top of everything. I work in the service industry and I feel it makes me so critical of service, and everything she did, from pouring my drinks, making sure we kept refills and napkins and even boxing our food for us. Every single thing i've tried has been awesome. the dumplings, the pig ears, THE BAOS, wings, ramen, fried rice, blah blah blah - you can't go wrong! everything is so vibrant, so flavorful, so delicious! they always have fun specials going on, whether it be food or drinks. the Cocktails are so diverse and creative! the atmosphere is so enjoyable! they always have some anime on the screen, which i appreciate. they just expanded their patio so more outdoor seating available! the service is always great! prices are reasonable for the insane quality of food you're getting. i will ALWAYS recommend this spot to out-of-towners and to locals who just haven't given it a shot yet. I lub it! It's been a while since I've been excited about a place. Most places I've been filing in my good for "insert very specific occasion, food, drink" file. But Chow (we're on a nickname basis now) was no one hit wonder. Food- (I had some of this to go because it was a time change weekend and why should I be held to cook for myself) Pho Dumplings steamed- the dumpling's dough was well cooked and not gummy. The steak inside was tender. The combo of sweet in the hoison with the sour of the pickled jalapenos was delicious. Soft shell crab- perfectly fried. I mean I can think of only two other more perfectly fried items I've eaten ever...in life. They also nicely paired pickles veggies against a creamy sauce. I did recall I prefer baked bao buns to steamed ones used in this dish but that is just my preference. Bread pudding- shout out to Dong Phoung bread. Good by itself even without the coffee drizzle. Huge serving. Veggie ramen- Namaste in New Orleans still has number one based veggie broth for me but this coconut base one paired well with the grilled zucchini, pickled corn and rest of the mix ins. Cocktails- after reading the cocktail list I truly wanted everything. The one thing I will say is that half of the cocktails have sake. I'm not a super fan of sake so although those drinks sounded delicious I asked the bartender to point me to the prettiest drink. She was able to handle that as well as guide other drinkers and recall regular's drink of choice. Staff was great especially the bartenders (see drinks). Vibe is dictated mostly by the great staff. There are some cute choices made with decor like anime figurines around the bar and a kitchen door with an amber reflecting window pane that allows vain folks at the bar to check themselves out. Anime and other cartoons were on the tv. The bar also has places to hang bookbags. I love the wooden chopsticks. The location simultaneously welcomed solo dates, bro hangs, couples, and families with kids having drinks waiting for to go orders. The not as great, yes this place is tiny. Yes the outdoor space they have is right next to the highway overpass. But on a Saturday afternoon they are making it work. Will I ever venture over here when I think it might be busy or anytime with a large group without a reservation. No. I will keep this beautiful start of a relationship by making smart choices. I expect you to do the same. So, they still are aces in my book because that small aspect has a pretty simple work around. I stopped by this restaurant when I was visiting a friend in the area. It was so good. Im a huge fan of Asian Fusion as a food group so I was instantly in love with this place. The food culture of Louisiana is so rich and this place really add to it. On this visit I had the Cygon Rib stack as my appetizer. I usually don't eat pork but on this visit I could not resist. The sauce and peanuts were a nice addition to this meal. I almost got full from appetizer. Lol For my entree, I had the Smokehouse House Fried Rice. It was so good! The brisket was very tender and I loved the egg on top. The scallions on top was a nice touch. The bread pudding was an amazing closing to this wonderful meal. Its name a punny nod to famous actor Chow Yun-Fat, this Asian fusion spot in the Perkins Overpass area is remarkably cool and mighty tasty as well. The compact interior is trendy and semi-industrial with bright pop art, clean brick facades, and both bar stool and table seating. The service is efficient and the feel is casual, which suits the "street food" theme. The menu features a whole host of things from fried pig ears to dumplings to wings to noodle bowls to bao. The Hot Honey Chicken Bao Kit, consisting of three pillowy buns nestled around crunchy gochujang-coated fried chicken, was magnificent. The glazed meat was sweet and savory with a fruity heat, and the sliced onions provided a sharp but herbal bite. Beautifully concocted dish. The Mandu starter was a potent hodge podge of flavors between the pungent and creamy kimchi, melted cheese, jalapenos, and fried dumplings stuffed with marinated beef. Think Korean loaded nachos. The reason for the downgrade from a 5-star score came down to the Ronin's Ramen, which was acceptable but not very memorable. The broth--the lifeblood of any ramen worth its salt--was thin, milky, and oily without the intense depth of flavor I was looking for. The pork had a nice smoky flavor but was quite tough. There were some positives though: I appreciated the different types of spongy mushrooms and the copious chewy noodles. CYP is a strong 4.5/5 in my book and very much worth a trip. The service was mediocre; I noticed our waiter talking to friends while we waited to be helped. Then the food itself was also subpar, nothing to write home about. I've been coming here for years at this point, since they only existed as a stall at White Star. I've tried many ramen places and this still one of my all-time faves. It is not traditional but it's still hard to beat. Their ajitama is the best I've ever had and really hard to replicate at home even. Even though their prices went up I'd say it's still worth it. The food portions are large and filling. The Addie broth is my favorite ramen and my favorite other dish is the fish curry (some of the crispiest fried fish ever.) you can't really go wrong with anything on the menu. the cocktails are good and the service is excellent. Salt & Peppered Cauliflower - this appetizer was definitely a shareable portion. I enjoyed the cauliflower, but I would have liked them to be fried a little harder. If you order fried, you aren't trying to skimp on calories lol. The jalapenos and chili oil was a nice touch to turn up the heat. - B Tofu Bao - it arrived not assembled. Very happy to have had a better experience the second time around. I just came to the realization that rice and noodle dishes are a little inconsistent so it's better to get something I'm more sure of and that was a great decision. We started off with the wild chow wings. So so yummy. Will be returning to try the other flavors for sure. I had the pork phat bao for my main and that was so filling and so delicious.
