This has to be the worst customer service. I waited 20 minutes today, Saturday 10/1/16 and 3:00pm for halo halo. The lady next to me was waiting about the same time because we paid back to back. What was more upsetting is she, myself and another lady watched a gentleman in a blue button down shirt, I'm guessing the manager was on his cell phone in the little room near the kitchen and halo halo maker. He was texting the whole time we were waiting. Three of us were just wondering why would he be texting the whole time it's busy and he can see the two ladies up front are busy working the register and bagging food. After he got off the phone texting he made the halo halo. It took him 3 minutes to make 3 halo halo. The 20 minutes texting could have been done later instead of making us wait. I havent been here in a long while. The family didnt know what to eat and it was left for me to decide. I chose to stay somewhere local and a place where we can all find something to eat. The last time I ate here was maybe 5 or 6 years ago and I remember they have this fried rice that was to die for. Parking is a little tricky. Small shopping center parking lot. But people come and go quick so you may just have to go around a couple times. We get in and i notice the menu has changed and i dont see what I normally would order. We had to let a few people go ahead of us while we try to decide what we want. We finally decide and we ordered the tocino meal, longanesa meal, and a 2 piece chicken meal. Wife was dissapointed with the chciken. It had no taste to the bite. Daughter barely ate half her longanesa, and i had to force myseelf to not waste money. The newly added Chinese Style fried chicken is my favorite on their menu. I really like how crispy and flavorful it is. The meal comes with 2 fried chicken and a cup of fried rice w/ egg and sausage, it also comes with a sweet and sour tangy sauce to dip the fried chicken. I also like their Asado Siopao, they sell frozen ones too! Just heat the Siopao for 15 seconds in the microwave and it's ready to be enjoyed. I had a few bad experiences ordering their drinks, Sago Gulaman and all of their other drinks w/ boba is not so good and I wouldn't recommend it. Maybe it's just me, but every time I order, it always seem I get the old and hard boba... It's not aldente and gummy as its suppose to be. Came here after getting groceries from seafood city for a quick bite cause it's just right there. Plus it reminded me of coming here after church back in them middle school days with my family and I actually liked their breakfast. And I haven't been back here since until a few weeks ago. The food here is not bad and I don't usually write bad reviews but what pissed me off is that one of the employees opened the the restroom door with their key while I was inside. Without knocking or anything. When I came out the restroom the employee didn't even apologize and I was overhearing her saying for them to just keep the restroom lock so that customers won't be able to use it and she was saying out loud that she thought customers had to ask the key from them so she thought there wasn't anyone inside. Found a new to-go place close to home. I ordered the garlic chicken w/ a side of miki bihon (egg & clear noodle), the seafood fried canton and the taho. The garlic chicken is very good. I am a big noodle fanatic and the noodle here is so-so. Portions are kinda small so if you are a big eater order 2. The tofu in the taho is good but the boba is not. They could've left that out. I used to look forward to coming here from Temecula because their food was actually good 3 or 4 years ago. Now, it's definitely not he business! Their Teriyaki Chicken used to be my favorite until I had it recently, and it wasn't so good. Their chicken and gravy is meh, the gravy is too salty for my taste. I prefer Jollibee over this. Also not a fan of their noodles, canton, bihon, miki bihon, all bleh, so I opted for their sesame balls or buchi as my side. Oh and they were also out of a lot of things too! The interior of this place is super filthy! It's disgusting, I am surprised they have an "A." What's even worse is their restroom, they even have a lock on the door where you have to ask to use it and it's REALLY disgusting! Pee on the toilet, wet floors, carries the odor of urine, it seems like no one goes in there to clean it. It's been a while i have gone back to Chowking. This place is located close to Filipino supermarket and it is so convenient for me to stop by because i work in Mira Mesa. My always favorite orders are Chunky asado siopao and Buchi 6(pieces). They are so delicious. The prices here are affordable. Everything is so clean, kind of quiet, and services are friendly. The reason why i don't give them 5 stars is because of the quality of Wonton noodle. I am a fan of Vietnamese Pho noodle, so i'm picky with the noodle. I've been spoiled by the Philippines... the Chow King locations there served their halo-halo in freakin' BOWLS, not plastic cups like here in the US. Anyway, I was here last night because I wanted to try their noodle soup. I ended up getting the beef and wonton noodle soup to go... and it was packaged in two containers - one for the broth, and one for the noodles, beef, and wontons. Nice! While the broth was nice and hot - perfect for this current round of weather we're having - the noodles could've been cooked better. Not to mention I was expecting more beef and wontons. I would have to say, one of the only things I like at chow king is the Halo Halo. Everything else is just so so. I am always disappointed coming in here because the staff at the counter are all super rude. I mean, they act like they own the place. Is that part of the training for the job? Act like you're better than the customers coming in buying the food? Also, because I guess I am an American born Filipino they act like they don't understand me when I order stuff. It also takes a long time for the food to come out, almost 10 to 15 minutes for "fast food". Then the food comes out cold. All the food is really bland. I think they only stay open because it's a chain restaurant. If you want real Filipino food, go to one of the other many Filipino restaurants in Mira Mesa. read more

Bad customer service. What a way to start a review. Came in on a Sunday morning 09/24/23 at around 11:00. Ordered the breakfast combo which should include coffee and the Mami combo which should also include a drink. We received our order and came to find out that the coffee was missing. The cashier was argumentative when we told her that we did not receive the coffee. No apologies whatsoever. They eventually gave the coffee after reviewing our order. Again, no apologies. While we are enjoying the Mami, Taho and rice combo, we heard a customer complaining about the decline in flavor of one of the entree. While he was exiting, the cashiers were talking about him non stop. One of them was even cursing and voicing her frustrations. She stated that it was not her fault and that the customer should file a complaint at the corporate office since they are in charge of the production. This cashier was non stop talking trash about the poor customer. To our dismay, we could not finish our meal and left. We could not stand this cashier who is ungrateful of her customers. By the way, they are not wearing name tags or badges so I could not specify this unfortunate lady. She is the most outspoken among the group. I was bummed when the national city branch closed so i was stoked finding this one. I got the beef wonton soup and 6 pcs buchi. The beef in the beef wonton soup was delicious and tender but the noodles were really thin and almost reminded me of instant ramen noodles. The buchi was delicious too but really oily. My partner got siopao and black pepper beef. He lives around the area and he regularly orders these. Everything was pretty cheap, you get what you paid for but it hits the spot. Pair that up with the sweet chili sauce and it's even more delicious...however it seems like they changed their sweet chili sauce vendor and what they serve now is no good. If they kept their chili sauce I might have given them back another star. The garlic chicken there.. no good. Over cooked, dry and tough. Lumpiang shanghai is ok.
