Fried cruller crispy donut for dunking into my hot soy milk
    Lorean W.

This is for Sat/ Sun breakfast items til 11am. Cruller donut was perfectly crispy and not oily. Sticky rice was very good and wrapped in lotus leaf. Beef roll was good; but different than the Taiwanese version. Service was good and the lady was nice. Ambience is clean and moderate sized place. Nice that there was no wait.

Worst Milk Tea I've ever had. Very sour and comes w/ crystal boba. Terrible pairing!

The Popcorn Chicken and Boba Milk Tea (they use crystal boba here) are AWFUL. Some of the worst I've had anywhere. Chicken itself is rubbery and the flat battered coating doesn't have the signature crispy bubbles of authentic Taiwanese chicken. The Boba Milk Tea is definitely one of my worst, if not The Worst, milk tea experiences to date due to the sour taste and the crystal (not tapioca) boba with which it is paired. Disgusting combo! By comparison, the Passion Fruit Green Tea is a familiar syrup-based staple you find at most boba shops but delightfully refreshing. The Chicken and Corn Dumplings weren't bad, either. Overall, this one is a skip for me.

Went to this location since the one near our place closed. Was so incredibly disappointed by this location. First - The popcorn chicken was SOFT. Second - the popcorn chicken was in a different container and NOT full. For the price we paid, it's ridiculous.. The other location used to have the popcorn chicken in the same container and vent it so the chicken wouldn't get soft. Seems like common sense to me that you'd do that but I guess i was wrong. It's really annoying to pick up food that is soggy and soft and has condensation all over it (and it wasn't even topped off to the top). Unfortunately, not returning to this location.

I don't know how to describe these Chinese food islands that exist in San diego except to say that I get why people write highly because they are so far away from other Chinese food restaurants. The best I could describe this place as is amazing service and great ambience and look, the food served was not as great as I expected it to be.. The shrimp Shumai tasted exactly like the frozen ones from ranch 99 The dumplings we got pork and chive were a bit too salty, and there was too much tendon in the meat. I will say that the potstickers skin was done very well and chewy. The best of our meal was probably the chow mein because the chicken was tender, and the flavor was spot on, so overall Joyee gets stars for the look the service and the noodles. Oh also the portions were quite big.

We first ordered takeout from here and quite enjoyed it and decided to come in and try their dumplings. The Chinese food we ordered to go was mapo tofu, cumin lamb, and the beef wrap. We enjoyed all three of them to give them a shot in person and try their dumplings fresh. The food we tried today was xiaolongbao, pork and chive dumplings, popcorn chicken, and tofu and seafood pot. Both dumplings were mediocre to be honest. The xiaolongbao was honestly a disappointment because half of them had no soup. The pork and chive dumplings were better but nothing too crazy to write home about or rave about. The popcorn chicken was also not very crispy but it was a good serving size. The best dish was the seafood and tofu pot. It had good flavor and was also generous serving size. The more traditional Chinese food on the menu is good aside from the dumplings and I probably wouldn't get the popcorn chicken again. Parking is easy because it's in a big parking lot. The service was good, they refilled water numerous times without needing to be asked. It's a small restaurant inside so it can get busy during the dinner rush.

Stopped in for lunch and it was the best choice!! The service was incredibly warm and friendly and the food came quickly and was delicious! My favorite was the salt and pepper pork ribs which were crispy and tender on the inside. Ample seating and lots of natural light that makes the interior feel bright and airy. Can't wait to be back soon!

    Stewed pork belly with tofu

The waitress was pretty attentive. This restaurant is a very casual dining place. We ordered the pan fried pork buns and the stewed pork belly with tofu. The pan-fried pork buns, unfortunately, were a bit off. Instead of having a juicy sauce inside, the juice from the pork was more like a thick gravy. That's not the way it should be; the buns are supposed to be filled with a savory, juicy sauce that bursts out when you bite into them. The stewed pork belly with tofu was just alright. The dish was somewhat one-dimensional in flavor. It should have had a bit more sweetness and vinegar in the sauce to balance the flavors and add depth, but it fell short of that expectation.

    Beef belly hot pot $18.99

Ordered food via Grubhub. Pros: -their portion size is incredibly generous compared to other businesses. -price is very reasonable for what you get -I absolutely loved their beef belly hot pot. It was full of delicious, tender beef and chilies. This is something I would definitely order again. Cons: -none Overall, if you're looking for a great deal, this place is wonderful. I will definitely be reordering their hot pot in the near future!

Salty soymilk (I didn't like the Shanghainese version) and Jian bing (Shanghainese version is just not as good as the taiwaneee version.)
    Rebecca Y.

This is NOT a Taiwanese place! It's northern Chinese. Just fyi - I came here expecting Taiwanese breakfast and it was not Taiwanese, more Shanghainese. So don't order traditional Taiwanese items as you'll be disappointed like me. stick with the dumplings or noodle dishes.

Both dishes were amazing quality and fresh, the service was also very pleasant and efficient. The portions were also very generous considering the prices, def recommend.

Beef belly hotpot was very tasty. Spicy pig ears dish was delicious. However, the Poway location seems to be more generous with beef belly portion than this location in Highlands.

Breakfast on weekend until 11:30z Came here specifically for Jian Bing because someone in a group mentioned it. Absolutely horrible. The sauce does not taste right and it's like an inedible salt bomb. Shredded lettuce was weird and the wonton strip was over fried and stale. My husband thought the sauce tasted like chili cheese Fritos. The sausage inside was good, taste like the red wrapper Chinese sausage.

Which items are vegetarian? I see a vegetable section, but no confirmation on whether those are made vegetarian (i.e. no fish sauce or similar).

The vegetables section did not have any meat in the dishes from what we ordered. For example it says broccoli with garlic and has no meat whereas there is a broccoli with chicken in the chicken section and broccoli with beef in the beef section.

Do they have high chairs or booster seats for toddlers/young children?

    yes

    Any vegan options?

It looks like most of the other tables were reserved for reservations. The decor is modern and very clean and chic. They also had a high chair and was accommodating with our baby. Food was incredible and the quality of the fish is evident throughout. We started with the mixed shrimp and vegetable tempura - light crispy batter, really good. The sashimi champaloo came with 12 pieces of sashimi, salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and the fish of the day was albacore. For rolls, we got the Luna Lemon, Maru's Sushi Toro, and Hamachi Hiro. The rolls were a good size and I loved how each had a fun twist (but at the same time not TOO crazy with their combinations like some other sushi places). You can tell it was designed with intention and each roll had a nice balance. The Luna Lemon roll was great with spicy tuna inside, salmon outside, and the soy dressing and shallot oil put it over the top. The Maru's Sushi - Toro roll looked so good in the photos so I knew we had to order it. The negitoro was delicious and did not disappoint. The Hamachi Hiro roll was hearty and loved the combination of yellowtail outside the shrimp tempura in the inside. We were blown away by how fast the service is. The staff was friendly and on top of everything, and the food came out REALLY fast. For example, when we ordered an extra roll at the end, it came out in maybe 3 minutes and we were shocked. Highly recommend!

My favorite sushi place for the north SD area! Their sashimi has been fresh everytime, very unique…read moredishes also available like carpaccio with monk fish liver that you can't easily find elsewhere to try. They also have a rotating specials menu so there's different seafood options to try for your sushi and also cooked options. My go to is the chirashi bowl. Good portions and delicious sashimi! Sushi is one of my favorite foods, so I don't say it lightly :). I have brought family and friends back here too My brother in law brought his kid and tried the chicken of the sea nuggets (tuna) and even I loved them! Friendly service, although sometimes food takes a while to come out. The parking is plentiful, in a plaza parking lot. Good ambiance for a bit more casual date night that's cozy!
