I've really only had the halo-halo here, but it beats the halo-halo at Jollibee for sure. For under $5, you're paying for shaved ice, ube ice cream, beans, jello, a little flan, and whatever else they add to make you believe in magic. Parking has never been a pain for me, so it's always a quick stop that I will find myself returning to. read more

Came here 3 times already because I love their chicken lauriat. 2x I was able to ask them to put my pancit canton on a separate container which they're able to do before. But this time a guy didn't see his name small chubby guy who's either a manager or supervisor said they're not able to do that or that's it's a separate charge to have the pancit separated. This is the first fast food I've went to that wasn't able to accommodate a customer request that's not even a big thing. He was even saying something like why I want it separated and even scolded the old lady cashier. Not even that but order almost took them a long time to prepare and wouldn't even accept their beeper to get your order cause they want the receipt what's the pint of giving the beeper if your not just going to accept that. Love the food but the service and the environment of how they are with their customer is another thing to consider before buying here. read more

The thing I find with Filipino restaurants as well as with Chowking, is that non-Filipino (non-Joe)gets a very different type of customer service one that is not very appealing as a non-Filipino you hear giggles if you ask for something or you try to be courteous and friendly and that's not very appealing I came for the hollow hollow which is good and the sesame balls which is good for a Filipino store(Best at a Chinese restaurant). This review is stricly for its steamed bun AKA siopao. Siopao is Hokkien word for steamed bun. My favorite Chow King location is the one @ Eagle Rock plaza. I usually buy one or two bags of steamed buns for snacks. I still prefer original Chinese steamed buns but I do crave Chow King buns once in a while. I don't like its asado, so bola bola is always my choice of bun. I like how they add lap jeong (Chinese sausage) and quail egg inside the buns. The price is pricey compared to fresh Chinese buns though...but I notice most Filipino food (even fast food) is pricier than other Asian dishes (except Japanese & Koreans). Why is that? The guy who rang me up looked like the manager. He was friendly, quick and courteous. He made sure I got enough siopao sauce. I didnt' care for its sauce because it's sweet =( yuck~ Chow King...the quality of my last purchase wasn't that great. I was having a problem removing the lining paper. I don't eat paper. I eat a lot of buns in my life (from street vendor, dim sum, frozen) and this is the first time I get frustrated with the paper. 2 stars!! If you're looking fir Filipino-Chinese flavor, then this the place to get Siopao- Asado or Bola-bola. There are also numerous meal choices, from chicken, beef and many more which are in my opinion, priced fairly. You can call in your order or do it online which is much more convenient. I don't dine in but rather order/pickup food to go. The location and environment is nice and directly connected to a Filipino grocery where you can shop while waiting on your order. I've order online for delivery, they never gave me the sip bao, stupid driver forgot about it. I called this store they say will give me my refund with in 3-4 days. Never received it!!! Poor customer service. But food is good. So only one star. read more

Food is great BUT employees are rude and doesnt know what they doing specially the shift manager(took my order) he doesnt smile or give any suggestion or give any idea what is there new product. After ordering we waited for our food to come out...finally they brought it out with any condiments to go with our siopao and wonton soup and top off that no spoon and fork come on how can we eat our food??? and he only gave me a couple sauces for the siopao and he turn around and went to his office pretending he's busy...im calling out to the management of chowking pls. Train your employees and your managers accordingly (company standards) 2 star for the food...0 for the employees... read more

I came here for a specific reason and that is to try their crispy soy chicken. My friends were raving about it. Let's break it down. It has chicken, they gave me a small container of soy sauce, and lastly crispy - if you burn your chicken of course it's going to be crispy. I ordered mine with chow mein (dry), steam rice (at least they got this part right) and 2 mini sesame seed balls (these were actually good ) and a regular soda. All for the same price of a Big Mac meal from macdonalds. There's a plenty of parking outside. The dining area is clean and the tables were spaced out well. Air conditioning was excellent. Music is loud (why is that?) quite distracting, Soda refill is free. Needless to say my trek to Chow King in West Covina was a disappointment. If I do come back I'll try something different. I'll give this place a 2.5 for their Crispy Soy Chicken. read more

I swear this location has been remodeled three times since I was 7 years old. Anyway their menu seems to be...Americanized now and not pleasing anymore. I mean c'mon, seems like the food here has nothing special about it. Id rate this place as an overpriced place and if you want real Filipino food. My family comes here often for Taho, which they really like. I'm not a big fan of that snack/drink so I can't really comment. I can comment on their breakfast. Tried their Tapsilog (tapa, garlic fried rice and a fried egg). Their tapa is just salted and super dry. No tapa flavor at all. Just some sliced meat, probably leftover from another dish, salted and fried. Their rice is typical Filipino fanfare. Eggs are eggs, I guess? I wouldn't come here for breakfast though. Do yourself a favor and go to Bamboo Bistro across the way for a breakfast buffet. Or maybe DJ's if you want some flavorful tapa. read more

I enjoy coming here to buy some bomb a$$ siopao! Their taho and halo halo are pretty yummy too. I come here almost every time after shopping from seafood city. The staff here are friendly and efficient. The place is overall clean. They usually have the promo of 'buy 6 siopao and get one free' but I'm assuming they do that promo during different seasons of the year. If you're looking for a chinese fast food with filipino mixture, this is your go -to place! read more

I used to come here for chicken and rice. I just don't know what happened when their food became salty for me. The place is clean and plenty of parking since it's right beside Seafood Market. I would probably try Chow King some other time just to give a follow up review. read more

If you're looking for a quick and tasty Filipino breakfast, look no further! This place is my usual go to place for breakfast when my dad is looking for "Bangsilog". Service here is quick and friendly. Although, when it's busy, there may be a longer wait which is only a few mins more. Ambience 3 star- its a standard vinyl chair fast food establishment. Food 3 stars- Not very good in terms of real food, but its fast food so Its average quality. I've had their siopao here and its just okay. They keep it in a steamer so its warm which I appreciate, but the bun can get really doggy and mushy because of it. My parents like yo go here to get Halohalo. They say its really good, but I've never tried it. I'm just not the biggest fan of Diabetes in a Cup. Service 3.5 stars- I've always had friendly nice service here.. The only problem is that they've forgotten stuff. Like I ask for a cup of water and thy forget to get it for you, etc. Not a big deal because I'm able bodied, but my dad often takes his halo halo sits down then has to get back up to ask for napkins and a cup of water or something like that. This place is a solid fast food joint. I would still return. read more

My better half ordered the Chinese style chicken meal. 2 pieces of garlic seasoned fried chicken with rice and noodles. I on the other hand don't eat meat so I ordered an old school favorite, Halo Halo which is a Filipino cold sweet dessert; shaved ice, sweet read beans, custard, jelly, sweet milk and of course my favorite ube. It has been many years since I've had this dessert and it was o-Kay. My better half rated his meal at 2*'s and the same goes for my dessert. Solid place. Been going here since my childhood. Of course overtime their menu proportions and prices have changed. However, their siopao has always been one to get. I always order it every time I come here or get to-go. Their other food and drinks are pretty good as well. Pictured is their beef wonton noodle soup. I also tried their black jelly drink and their halo halo. Again all of which are solid choices. Service has fluctuated overtime. But recently the management has been A-ok. If you're dining in, there were times when they were super crowded. But other than that it's a decent go-to spot to just get a quick eat and chill. Also, I noticed the music they play are either from the radio or are covers of songs (which are probably played from an aux lol). Very Filipino-y I suppose. Nothing negative about it though; I'm Filipino and I enjoy the vibes. Overall, Chowking seems like that place where you can always go back and eat time to time now and then. I mean whenever my family and I are thinking of places to eat, Chowking has always been that last minute resort, and usually they don't disappoint. I'm sure Chowking will continue to be around as the years go by. read more

Sad because we love to come here. We love the beef wonton noodle and their Lauriat meal. Tonight we are disappointed! The beef wonton seems like a boile mixture of beef, wonton, and chopped cabbage. No taste! Horrible! The Lauriat chicken is so dry and hard. Seems like been fried over and over again. I'm disappointed because I drove all the way from diamond bar to be surprised by my dinner. I wish I have time to go out again. Never again chowing until you deal with this issue. read more

Came here strictly for the Taho. Wasn't as great as I envisioned or expected, but after doing their survey, and stating I traveled from Miami, Florida, I was given a free 6 piece buchi dessert. It's inside of the Seafood City supermarket along with Red Ribbon. This plaza has almost everything you need as a Filipino visitor. Hopefully next time, the consistency and sago of the taho would be tastier and sweeter. read more

I ate at Chowking West Covina last night craving for Mami and Siopao, I asked for extra Hoisin Sauce for my Siopao, they said 10 cents extra for each pack, I told them you gotta be kidding me! The Server said...Ya I know! So I proceeded to ask for Chop Sticks, they said they no longer provide! That is just like telling a Filipino you can't have Spoon and Fork...to a Chinese that would be an insult! Chowking, name wise is a derivative of being Chinese...go figure! I am part Chinese! What is up with our Filipino Business...they nickel and dime you to death and then provides substandard Service! Never again you'll see me in ChowKing! Don't Patronize this Business!!! It is not about the money...more of principle!!! If that is Company Policy or Site Manager's discretion, they are dead wrong...they are not looking out for their Customer's Welfare! I went back to this location and still worse than ever. They were out of Bangus and when I paid they realized they forgot to tell their cashier that they were out of Bangus. Once again management sucks here and no communication going on and someone screwed up and forgot to order more Bangus. Instead of gossiping (I totally understand tagalong and they're definitely not talking about getting our order ready) the Manager needs to make a sign and put it on the menu screen so customers know they're out of something The kid at the counter is so loud and had no patience yet he didn't know they were out of Bangus. The other nice lady had to explain and apologize to me. read more

The onion rings have a really heavy batter and can be kinda greasy but back a good crunch and soft bite of the onion inside. Overall, if I was on a time crunch and wanted a consistent and well-made burger I would visit here. However, the cashier/man at the counter (who I'm assuming is the owner) that takes your order upon arrival is very dismissive. He doesn't make eye contact with you while you're ordering and does not actively listen to your order at all. He messed up my order. When I requested onion rings, he gave me fries. Instead of honoring my original request and apologizing for the mistake, he mumbled, "I didn't hear that" and had my boyfriend pay the difference of 2 dollars for the onion rings. Hospitality and kindness can go a long way in situations like this and he has missed the mark. I am more than happy to support small community based businesses when they hold themselves to a good standard and appreciate the patronage they receive, especially when we were nothing but cordial. I hope this review changes things around.

I ordered the Beef Wonton today from Chowking, and I was thoroughly disappointed...The portion size was incredibly small, with just a few tiny pieces of meat and a scant amount of noodles. Most of the bowl was filled with soup, which felt like a way to skimp on the main ingredients. I expected a hearty meal but ended up feeling more like I had sipped a light broth. The rice bowls are so flavorful and you can just taste the freshness, unlike some other fast food Chinese restaurants. I tried the beef bowl and chicken bowl, the Meaty Siobao and siu mai, lumpia and sweet sesame balls. We loved every dish, especially the beef bowl and meaty Siobao. Ordered ahead of time and still had to wait for the order to be ready. Everything is made and kept warm so not sure why it wasn't packed before my pick up time. Of course I shouldn't expect the highest of quality and service from a fast food place but it would be nice!

The food they have is a fusion mix of Japanese dishes, Hawaiian dishes and Chinese food. I'm shocked by the fusion. But I think it's a great idea. The staff here greets you when you come in and they ask if you want to order on the touch screen or in person. It's a small shop but they do have a few tables and chairs available for seating! The prices range from $2.99 - 13.99 which is reasonable for pricing. Their portion sizes are decent. I ordered a spicy tuna roll and California roll. And they gave me a miso soup on the house! Yay.
