Wow I am really impressed w this place .. I live in Glendale but grew up in Sierra Madre so I know the area. I can't believe I've never been here! I've been to sooo many kbbq places everywhere. For the price and the quality of the food I have nothing bad to say. Our food was delicious. The staff was very nice too. We definitely will be back. Ohh and I like the vibe with the music for our taste being in our late 30s.. and love old school hip hop and r&b .. Thank you.. also it was super easy to make a reservation. And we had to change it last minute but they accommodated . One last thing it's nice ac inside and doesn't get really Smokey they have good ventilation but of course you will still go home smelling like kbbq that's a given. My girlfriend and I went there on a Saturday around 6 pm. The line wasn't too bad, we waited about 15 minutes to get seated. The first thing we noticed is that they seemed pretty understaffed, however, they still managed to provide good service and attention throughout our dinner. The ventilation inside was a bit lacking, however, they have outside seating if you prefer. It was our first time here and I am very torn on the food that we were served. The banchan they brought out was good but not great. I enjoyed the cucumbers and the kimchi the most. The fish cakes were a bit too sweet and the Korean pancake was a bit too doughy. We also asked for radish paper, steamed rice, and scallion salad which were good. So this is the part that broke my heart: the CUTS and TEXTURE of the meats were great but the marinated meats were lacking in FLAVOR. It seemed all of the marinades and the sauces were watered down!!! The brisket sauce, the chili sauce, and even the dressing were all noticeably bland! This was very disappointing. We ordered the beef belly, brisket, marinated bulgogi, and two different types of marinated galbi. Our favorites were the beef belly and the brisket which is unusual because we usually love the marinated meats elsewhere. With so many Kbbq restaurants around, this one is THE one I will always come back to. The quality of food and service is unmatched. I could live off the banchan and korean miso soup they have, which compliment all of their meat selections so well. Not only is the food alone worth coming back here but the ambiance and wait staff make it such a welcoming enjoyable experience. I prefer a Kbbq place where I am not having to shout over the music and tvs playing and actually enjoy conversation with your table, this is the place for all of that. They even have outdoor seating if you have larger groups with heating lamps for all year round comfort. Chris Korean BBQ is my go to Korean BBQ for sometime now without having to go to Korea Town. Tried others in Alhambra and Monterey but love the food, service and convenience of the location. Food quality is superb, generous servings and wonderful server (Dana) who is so hospitable and attending. We visit as a family and always order for the family meal not the eat all you can and happy with the serving as it is always more than enough than expected. Pretty good kbbq outside of ktown. I've been here two times in the past 2 months, and both were right after an exam at Pearson VUE on Lake. This food just slaps after being mentally drained for the day. I've ordered the Classic AYCE. The main different between this and the premium is that the premium has a few more seafood items, but classic has a pretty good selection. It also comes with their vegetable pancake which tastes so good. First time I've actually enjoyed that kind of pancake. The service here is great too. As a Pasadena kid, I remember this location hosting many different restaurants over the years: a sushi joint, a Chinese food restaurant, and now a Korean BBQ, to name a few. This last iteration of East Pasadena real estate was in place for my last visit, a friend's birthday party of eight. The interior layout is pretty simple: A few booths and tables, all with the required grills and ventilator hoods to keep the place compliant with the Pasadena fire department. A few flat screens on the walls featured the Dodgers game, and there was a big outdoor tent in the back parking lot that I assume serve some pandemic related purpose. Not really sure, did not go out there. Of course, I'm not one for restaurant interior decorating, and the real reason to be here (other than celebrating our friend's most recent revolution around the sun) What is the burn some meat at the table, soak it up in a variety of different concoctions, and wash it down with some dry Japanese beer. As one of the last in our party to arrive, the banchan was already on the table at my seat: namul, muchim, jorim, kimchi,... all the good stuff. A small salad and a "pancake" added to the delightful colors and aromas at the table, as the thin veil of meat smoke filled the restaurant air. We ordered several rounds of meats to the table: Galbi, bulgogi, samgyeopsal, and various cuts of beef. All were grilled to perfection, and dredged through various sauces at the table. The restaurant "ran out of draft beer" during our visit (my buddy literally got the last glass from the tap), but with so many supply chain issues these days, nothing surprises me. Our servers were attentive and always available -- which is nice when you need another cold one, and even more important in a Korean BBQ place to keep the waves of meat plates moving to the table. What Chris does deliver is a relaxed, casual KBBQ experience for a reasonable price with good service. If you've never enjoyed Korean BBQ before, this would be a great first place to go. read more

We weren't feeling AYCE so we chose to get the family meal A instead. I was worried it might not be enough for 2 but surprisingly, it was a good amount of meat. The meat came beautifully plated on a big dish, but unfortunately we saw a strand of hair stuck in between the pork belly. When we told the waitress about it, she just plucked the hair out from the raw pork and offered to bring us a new portion of pork belly.....Thankfully she came back from the kitchen to take the whole plate away to replace with a new one. I'm sitting here with my belt unbuckled and pants in buttoned. Wow. What an incredible meal. The meat here is so fresh and the marinated meats are done perfectly. I recommend the marinated pork, the marinated bulgogi, brisket (use the salt and the sauces!) I loved the kimchi and pickled cucumbers. Not too big on the pancake, the potato salad, and fish noodles. The salad was amazing but I had to save room for the meat! The pitcher of modelo was so cheap too! Excellent service from the host, to the servers. My first three-star review of 2022! This Korean BBQ definitely does the job but its by no means my favorite. First thing I noticed was that it was super cold when I walked in. I was freaking most of the time I was in there and the grill didn't really keep me warm like i thought it would lol. Our server was so nice but was the only one working most of my visit and he didn't act overwhelmed or anything but I'm sure he was. I also noticed that some of the tables didn't have working grills, which made an unnecessary wait time for some patrons that walked in after us. Red meat was delicious as were most of the sides. This used to be a great place. We used to go all the time, and it was a family favorite. However, our last visit was our last. The wait staff was horrible. We saw our waiter once and then never again. We had to keep flagging other waiters down to get drinks, napkins, more meat, etc. It was a horrible experience. We were already regulars when Chris, who used to be an employee, bought the restaurant. He's been gone for a few years, and it's a shame. This place used to be great. Don't go here. So I have been here 3 times now, once with a party of 7 and two other times with just 2 people and I gotta say that the service here is just so slow. I'm not sure what the reason is but every time I have come here the service is at a snail's pace. Try and get as many plates of meat as you can when you first order so you don't have to wait a long time for your next plate of meat. The food itself is not bad and there have lots of meat options, but over the last year or so prices have gone up, so now AYCE is about $36.
