Here were the top annoyances: Air Conditioning - Broke completely in the middle of our July trip, the mechanic said it was quite old and missing some screws. It wasn't possible to fix on the road, so we had no AC for 4 days. Sensors - Many of the key sensors were inaccurate. Ex: black tank level, water level. This proved very challenging for first time RVers like us, who didn't have a feel for how often to empty or refill tanks. Door - The screen door was missing a piece of plastic, which created a hole for bugs to come in and the door itself required a VERY hard closure to latch. My kids could rarely do it themselves. Awning - Not functional; directions in troubleshooting book didn't match type of awning on our RV. Generator - Shut off inexplicably a few times. Mattress - VERY old and worn. Electrical panel - Literally kept closed with duct tape and wouldn't stay closed. Easy to accidentally turn things off. Privacy curtain - Held back with duct tape. Easily knocked open.

I got on the chat line because no one returned my calls and was told it usually takes 3 to 5 days to process a return...funny it only took them one minute to grab the money in the booking process. Now three days before Thanksgiving they are using the "holiday" as an excuse. Folks it is called using the "float" they are using my money at no interest and my credit card is charging interest. They will not refund the money for more than two weeks according to the "support" folks. Color me PO'd in NC

Bandago's customer service tried to find a Mercedes dealer within a reasonable distance of our location to rectify the situation. We didn't want to take any time away from our already tight vacation schedule and the van was operational. I appreciated their efforts to address the situation quickly. We were a little concerned about actually having an RV to rent when we got there but there was no problem when we picked up. Our trip was good and the checkout process was fine however they could've spent a little bit more time explaining the ends and outs of RVing. Luckily we found lots of information on YouTube about things to expect on our adventure. We ended up returning our RV late on Saturday night as we came home early. We dropped our keys in a lockbox and never heard back from them until we finally got our refund on Tuesday or Wednesday after the return. I would've appreciated after spending nearly $2000 that I would've at least gotten a phone call or an email explaining what they charged me for. We left a $500 deposit and they refunded about 150 of it upon return. I did call on Tuesday to ask if they had received the RV and they said they were in the middle of checking it in nobody phoned me back. We had a number of issues some safety related and I would have thought that they would appreciate getting some feedback which since they didn't return my phone call didn't receive. So I will leave it here. The freezer stopped working during our trip and we lost all our frozen food. There was a check light that went on and I needed to read about how to reset it myself. We tried calling the one 800 number which is supposed to be the rescue number but after 25 minutes on hold nobody picked up. There was also a strange wire that was dangling between the gas and brake pedal and it was quite Dangerous and I would have hoped they could have fix that. All in all a very pleasant trip but quite expensive.

But when I was looking for a replacement for my Class A, Vacationland had the exact unit I was looking for listed at a great price. Worked with Noah and Joel to walk the unit. Had my own inspector come through. The gave us HOURS to pick through the unit with a fine-toothed comb; they never rushed us or hovered. Honestly, it was the integrity of the team that made the purchase a no-brainer Had to get some work done on it after purchase and worked with Mark and Mike. I don't have a single complaint. Mark treats me like an old friend every time he sees me; asks me about my kids, remembers their ages. Mike gave me a demonstration of the unit before I drove off in it. Two years prior we had rented, and paid for in advance, a van from one of the national car rental companies. They day we went to pick it up they said it was not available. Apparently this is common practice. Vanscape Chicago would never treat its customers like that, they valued our business and we hope to use them again this next summer.

The first thing we did upon arriving in Chicago was call the company to confirm a pickup time for…read moreour camper. Initially, we were told that it would be ready at 1:00 PM, but later they informed us it wouldn't be available until 3:00 PM. No apology or compensation was offered for this change. Regardless, we decided to arrive early and be on time. We got there at 2:30 PM and unfortunately had to wait until 6:30 PM -- a total of three and a half hours -- to receive the camper. To make matters worse, we were informed at the moment of pickup that the two kits we had added to our reservation -- the bedding kit (which included towels, sheets, pillows, etc.) and the kitchen kit (with plates, cutlery, glasses, etc.) -- were not available. They told us we would have to go to Walmart ourselves to buy all those items, because they "didn't have time" to prepare them. On top of that, the camper was damaged. They told us that the awning didn't work and that if we wanted one, we would have to buy it ourselves. The camper was also handed over with the toilet tank completely full, which we had to empty on our own. The water tank was not filled either -- they only took care of it after we pointed it out. Additionally, the generator failed to start on multiple occasions and only worked on the third attempt. This gave us no sense of confidence, and we left feeling anxious about potential issues during the trip. The staff were not friendly at all, and the service we received was far from professional. We felt neglected and poorly treated throughout the entire process. Our experience with this company was very disappointing. After having to go to Walmart to buy all the basic essentials that we were counting on, and after waiting over three hours to receive a damaged camper, we were unable to reach the campsite we had booked as our first stop. We had to spend the night in a parking lot in Chicago, which was a complete disaster. We are extremely dissatisfied and will not book with this company again, nor will we recommend it to others.

We did use this RV for camping just driving from California to Chicago. This location really does not give great customer services. Our entire morning was discussing damages that we did make. El Monte and Arts RV have some bad business practices. If you show up with your own car to rent an…read moreRV, Arts is going to charge you $10/ day to leave it there. El Monte requires you to show up for your pick up appointment after noon but on your return you have to be in by 11:00 or else they charge a $100 late fee. The return time isn't obvious either, it's hidden in the paperwork and was never mentioned at checkout. So they charge for full days but you don't actually get full days. It was a double screw job! Aside from this the camper was clean and everything functioned as it should.
