I've been seeing Dr. Cheng since I was in 3rd grade and now I'm 30 years old!!! Dr. Cheng has been great. I've gone from classes, to hard contact corrective lenses, to retainer-type of hard lenses, to soft lenses and a crazy increase in my prescription, and now I've been settled at soft lenses for years and years with no inclination of getting laser surgery. My younger brother has also seen Dr. Cheng since he was young until he decided to get laser surgery. Both my parents see Dr. Cheng for their glasses prescription all the time. Overall, I have to say that Dr. Cheng has treated our family very well. The same two receptionists have also been working there FOREVER. It's super easy to book appointments also. The only downside since Dr. Cheng moved to his current location is that it is a shared bathroom amongst all the offices in the building. I have been with Dr. Dennis Cheng for years now ever since about the 5th grade I want to say. I think my parents chose this place because it's within a Chinese shopping mall - this way, while I was busy with getting glasses/contacts, they could get a little shopping done. Dr. Cheng is one of the best optometrists I've been too. I have been wearing contacts since I was about 10 and every year I go, he knows that I go to Berkeley and what not. I know he probably writes it all down, but it feels welcoming when the optometrist can talk to you about things and converse while checking your eyes. My eyes are horrible since I sit in front of the computer everyday for a very long time (facebooking, yelping and tweeting), but it's great to know that he has helped me choose contacts that help improve my vision or at least not have it deteriorate like crazy. The ladies that work there are great as well. One of the older ladies reminded me to make sure that I do get an appointment in next year since I always seem to put things off and to possibly get glasses next time and what not. They also fixed my brother's glasses for a nominal fee since one of the pads for the nose part came off or something. I love my optometrist and will be super sad when I have to move to SF. I hope that my new optometrist will be just as good! read more

This place sells fake frames and provides prescriptions that are inaccurate. I came here for a routine eye exam and glasses prescription because my dad had gotten his glasses here a year before and they did an okay job. I also come here often for any eye problems, like infections. Firstly, I have all covered insurance but the ladies at the front desk was unable to even find the coverage even though all documents were provided to them. Then, they told me that I had no coverage for glasses and made me pay full price. All in all, I purchased a Silhouette frame and lenses for a total of $550-ish. After I provided my insurance information again they got back to me and pretty much said, "Oops." And said they'd give me back the overage charge but couldn't because it was from my HSA. So, they kept it as credit. I ordered my glasses on November 11th and didn't get it until about December 10th. Waited a WHOLE month. Then, after wearing the frames for less than a month, the ear pieces of the frame were deterioritating and I only found out because my ear developed itchyness and redness. On top of that, the frame was all out of shape and bendy even though I have NEVER bent the frame and I have always put my frame inside my case after using. Even when I drive, I put it back into the case vs. the cup holder or even the designated glasses holder in the car. I brought the frame back to the office around January 24th to see if I could get a replacement or fixture to realign the frame. They took the frame and continually blamed me every step of the way that i had intentionally bent a 500 dollar pair of glasses. AND they told me they'd charge ME shipping to send the glasses back to Silhouette for investigation. After a lot of arguing, they shipped it back to Silhouette for a "claim" and to purchase me a replacement free of charge. Another month passes by and they said that Silhouette hasn't gotten back to them, so I asked for the claim # and called them myself to see if they had received it. Silhouette claimed that they did not receive my glasses and that there isn't a claim filed under this establishment or my name. I sent Silhouette a photo of my glasses and asked if they were legitimate frames and they said it wasn't part of their product line. I relayed this information to the store and they said that my design was "old" and they ordered me a new design. But during the assembly of my old lens onto the new one, the lens broke. So they wanted me to pay the lens cost AGAIN )like 325 dollars) so that they could make a new set to go into the new frames. That was pretty much the last straw for me.. I showed up to the office asking for a refund because they sold me defective glasses that PEELED within one month of use, that BENT even though it was put back into a case, then told me they didn't have an exact replacement for my design, and then BROKE my lens going into a "new frame." And when I asked for the broken lens they wouldn't give it to me. After making a scene and going through at least 2 months of arguing, they finally agreed to refund me my glasses cost. I went to a different place and my prescription vs. the one this place gave me were drastically different. And this was in 2 months time. I'm pretty sure they sold me fake frames, then bought a legitimate frame, then told me my lens "broke" so I would pay for new lens to cover the cost of an actual real Silhouette frame. Don't come here unless you want to buy defective fake frames and literally have the worst customer service available to you. Instead of being helped, I was berated and blamed for intentionally breaking my glasses. Instead of helping me replace them, they tried to add charge after charge to me for things I shouldn't be responsible for--defective frames, poor prescription, and two broken lens'. My whole family owns Silhouette frames and not a single one has ever had the issues this frame did. If I could, I'd give this place negative stars. read more

I've been going to Dr. Dennis Cheng ever since I started wearing glasses, which is all the way back in 1998. He is very invested in his patients and will take his time to explain and answer any questions or concerns about your vision health, relationship problems, or just life in general. Dr. Cheng is absolutely the most caring optometrist I've been to. He genuinely wants to get to know you and help you understand more about your eyes. His new office is located in a new plaza on Nogales and Valley and can be accessed right outside the plaza front entrance. The ladies at the reception have been with him ever since I started going there. They are extremely nice and will ensure you get the best rebate amount for your contacts even if you're not a first time purchaser of that contacts brand. Overall, I love this place. I've been to a few other places in Irvine, but I keep coming back here because they just don't care for you as much as Christian Vision Center does. read more

I've been coming to see Dr. Cheng for years. He is a great optometrist with state-of-the-art equipment. This place is small, family-owned. It's really easy to schedule appointments, even same-day or next-day. He listens attentively to all your problems and will discuss all and any questions you have fully, instead of rushing to get you out of there like some doctors. He and his staff are fluent in Mandarin and English, so that's a plus for me and my mom. My insurance doesn't cover vision exams anymore but it does cover medical reasons (I.e. allergies, eye infections, etc). Each time I have come, my appointment times have been honored and I have left feeling satisfied with my treatment of care. Last week, I had a really bad eye infection that blurred my vision and I was able to get an appointment next day where he examined my eye thoroughly before prescribing me medicated eye drops! I've been going to Dr. Dennis for 2+ years. The reason I give them 5 starts is: 1) Dr. Dennis is nice (super great attitude!) knowledgeable. When I communicate with him, I can ask all questions and not feel intimidated - I feel like I was talking to my good old neighbor! 2) Wonderful staff (ladies). The two Cantonese ladies I've contacted with are nice, responsible and very very diligence. They probably sound straight forward for others (like most Asian ladies) but they get things done right like ninjas. They always return my call and answer all my questions. They patiently walked through contact lenses rebate instruction so I can get my rebate on time (which I always do). 3) Price. I think they have the best price on contact lenses in town, seriously, I've compared with Costco and other optometrists. I haven't found one place that beat the price they provide. The only reason why I go to this location is because Dr. Cheng is so wonderful whenever I visit him for my yearly eye exam. I have been his customer for 12 years now and he always takes his time during my eye exams to get the right prescription and get to know me. He always asks about my school, work and life. It makes me feel like he cares about me as a customer. He is the main reason why I don't want to check out a different optometrist, I'm so used to him that I don't know if any other optometrist will take care of me like he does. I have mixed feelings about his two assistant ladies who are always in the front. They can be very helpful but at the same time are very blunt. I don't feel the same comfort with them as I do with Dr. Cheng. They do get the work done and help you fast but are my obstacle whenever I visit the office. In the end, Dr. Cheng makes up for it, he knows how to treat his customers and I would certainly recommend him. read more
