The most perfect fella in all the land proposed to me, so I needed a jeweler to match. After reading the stellar Yelp reviews, then getting a personal recommendation from a friend, I was sure I wanted Christopher to make the engagement ring I had in my head. And then I proceeded to put him through the wringer for two months. (Apparently, even the most laid back of brides can go a bit bridezilla.) Never once did Christopher make me feel bad for tweaking the design or second guessing myself. When I got angsty, he picked up the phone and talked me down. He truly made me feel like we were designing this ring together. It was obvious just how passionate he is, and that he was excited -- not deterred -- by the challenge. The woman who "helped" me did the bare minimum and seemed kind of judgmental about the ring that was handed down to my fiancé from his mother. First off, Christopher Duquet is an awesome guy. He has a quirky sense of humor and a calming yet firm demeanor that makes you know that he's truly an expert and that you're in great hands. But he hates shopping like the mark of the beast and I'm super picky; it was up to me to shop for my own engagement ring. Lucky me, because I ended up getting exactly the ring I always wanted. I knew that I needed a very unique ring: an oval yellow diamond center stone with a halo and a twist shank. I went to a couple other places but many of the places downtown just seem skeevy and rip-offish to me and their rings often look gaudy and cheap. I decided on Christopher because he was walking distance from my office and he just seemed to "get" the look I was looking for; super sparkly with that high-quality, high-end feel. Plus, I wanted someone who had experience working with colored diamonds. Christopher Duquet was my guy. I have to say, the team here is not the sell, sell, salespeople type at all, almost to a fault. They will never push you, which is great, but you should have a pretty solid idea of what you're looking for because lots of indecision and overthinking wastes time and money when working with these seasoned professionals! I'm pretty neurotic so the custom design process was a bit stressful for me, but it was totally all in my own head as it was my first time custom designing and it was my own engagement ring. Christopher Duquet is a godsend. I walked in a few weeks ago looking for an engagement ring. I might as well have had an enormous neon "clueless" sign above my head. I was unshaven and unkempt, I didn't have the faintest clue what she wanted and I didn't know where to start. Politely and patiently, the wife/husband team walked me through a variety of options. They took digital photos of the different styles so I could email them to friends and ask their advice. At no time did I feel pressured in any direction. Later on, I discovered that the ring my girlfriend wanted was a particular Tiffany style. Personally I think Tiffany is both overpriced and unoriginal. Christopher made both my and my now wife's wedding rings and did wonderful work. Mine is relatively simple, but hers was designed by her (with advising by Christopher, of course) and was somewhat complicated. It turned out perfectly. He helped her work out her vision, through sketches, a computer drawing, a wax model, and finally the finished casting. When I went to pick up the rings there was a bit of a delay and Christopher spent an hour with me just hanging out and chatting. His calming presence was just what my wigging-out self needed less than 24 hours before I was to walk down the aisle. Before I left, he gave me good tips on care and cleaning and said we could come back anytime and for life if the rings needed some spiffing. I'll be back for that, maybe just to stop in and say hello, and if I even feel really spendy, to peruse his great selection of expertly restored vintage watches.
