Christopher Duquet's work is outstanding. They recently restored my wife's engagement ring when a diamond came loose. Her ring's band and setting is from the 1920s/1930s and the diamonds are various old cuts from around that period, as well. They were able to repair the prongs and even restored portions of the platinum setting where white gold had been previously used for a repair. I could not recommend this place more highly. Terran is delightful to work with, the artistry is phenomenal, and they are willing to work within reasonable budgets. Don't think that you'll be bullied into buying a $10,000 ring if your budget is 1/10th of that. They are open to creating rings from any kind of stone, including synthetic stones, but will tell you the best kinds of stones to use for engagement rings, or rings worn every day. They are all incredibly knowledgable, helpful, down-to-earth, friendly, and truly excited to be a part of this really special process. I had wanted a handmade ring for a long time, but had resigned myself to picking out a ring from a big box store for cost reasons. Then we found Christopher Duquet, and my dream was back on! I now have a drop-dead gorgeous ring that is completely unique, and we didn't have to go into debt to afford it. They also have a free maintenance/warranty policy that includes yearly free cleaning and other truly helpful stuff. They'll also do a free appraisal for you, which is critical to getting insurance for your jewelry (which I couldn't recommend enough!). The woman who "helped" me did the bare minimum and seemed kind of judgmental about the ring that was handed down to my fiancé from his mother. First off, Christopher Duquet is an awesome guy. He has a quirky sense of humor and a calming yet firm demeanor that makes you know that he's truly an expert and that you're in great hands. But he hates shopping like the mark of the beast and I'm super picky; it was up to me to shop for my own engagement ring. Lucky me, because I ended up getting exactly the ring I always wanted. I knew that I needed a very unique ring: an oval yellow diamond center stone with a halo and a twist shank. I went to a couple other places but many of the places downtown just seem skeevy and rip-offish to me and their rings often look gaudy and cheap. I decided on Christopher because he was walking distance from my office and he just seemed to "get" the look I was looking for; super sparkly with that high-quality, high-end feel. Plus, I wanted someone who had experience working with colored diamonds. Christopher Duquet was my guy. I have to say, the team here is not the sell, sell, salespeople type at all, almost to a fault. They will never push you, which is great, but you should have a pretty solid idea of what you're looking for because lots of indecision and overthinking wastes time and money when working with these seasoned professionals! I'm pretty neurotic so the custom design process was a bit stressful for me, but it was totally all in my own head as it was my first time custom designing and it was my own engagement ring. Christopher did everything right to talk me down and assure me everything was OK. He's very good at making you comfortable while also keeping the project on the right track and not letting any bridal emotional craziness get in the way of the vision :-) In the end, everything was so much better than OK.
