I only go here for my nails and only for Shellac (the 14 day wear gel polish) with Jennifer. She is fantastic. Shellac can be really testy, I've gone to high end salons and had them mess it up but not Jennifer, she knows what she's doing and I always leave beyond satisfied. If your never tried shellac I highly recommend it, yes it is more expensive than regular polish but the results last longer too. I used to work at a high end resort in Santa Barbara and paid twice what Jennifer charges, so I think her pricing is more than fair. Give her a call, you won't regret it! read more

I have been going to Young for my cuts and color for about 2 years now, and she does a great job. I'm one of those people who has neither the time nor energy to fuss with my hair, and she listens to that and gives me nice-looking hair that is easy to manage. (She is also one of the owners.) If you read my other hair reviews, you'll see I'm pretty picky about who does my hair. :D Shawny does my brows, and I'm always happy with them. I've also recently started going to Natalie for my nails, and she does a wonderful job too. I'm not exactly a manicure expert since I mainly just go for shaping and polishing, but she helps me find fun ways to glam up what I want done. The salon is very nicely decorated and the staff is always friendly and helpful. As for the first reviewer's comment about the parking lot, I guess I never thought much about it being partly unpaved. It's Quartz Hill, not Beverly Hills. Likewise, I suppose it's pricey for Antelope Valley, but compared to other similar salons I've visited in other areas (LA, SF/SJ), I think it's well-priced. read more

I'm a guy, with long curly hair, which is Very difficult to cut. I've been picky about it, as I'm a professional musician, and it needs to look right. Steve always does an amazing job on my daughters hair, so I made my appointment with him. Steve was really cool. He sat across from me, and asked we discussed exactly what I wanted, He than gave suggestions on what he thought would work. When he finished, it turned out Great. It is almost impossible to get my hair right, but after talking to Steve for a few minutes, he obviously got exactly what I wanted, and I got an amazing cut. Everyone I know who has been there is right. It is a friendly atmosphere, and Steve was not only friendly, but knows exactly what he's doing as a professional. I'll let no one touch my hair but him. ~This is one of the best places in the AV! I am a teen guy and i am very vain, being honest. I had the worst kind of hair; it was curly, thick, long growing with many cowlicks... It was a mess. I called in a appointment for 5:00 pm, and the stylist was there waiting for me before i even got there! Perfect timing. She sat me down and the first thing she did was she sat down with me and talked to me about my hair, i told her what i wanted and she told me what she could do that would look good with what i wanted. Many places most stylist just do want they feel like doing, this place they listen to you! I didn't catch her name but she was a sweet oriental woman, she is great at cutting hair, she is very friendly! Everyone in the salon was very social and friendly it was a very calm environment. ~Only con i have would be the parking, but besides that everything was perfect! ~I am coming back here more often! read more

I have been going to Christopher Michael Salon since late August of 2016. My stylist Anni is a MUST !!! She is knowledgeable, smart , and most important HONEST about what you can expect . My hair was severely damaged from a previous treatment from another salon. I was devastated. Not only was Anni able to fix my hair , but she took her time and didn't try to do expensive processes on my hair. My hair is NOW not only healthy , but she did an amazing color correction on deep blue and purple hair . I ABSOLUTELY ENCOURAGE ANYONE AMD EVERYONE TO go to that salon and ask for Anni . I found Steve M. through Yelp. I called to schedule a consultation for the same day and the salon was able to fit me in. My first impression of Steve: on time, professional, knowledgeable in color & cut & MORE, listened to my hair request, made me feel comfortable. The FREE consult took more than 30 mins. I expected to be rushed in & out. On the contrary! Steve treated me like I was his one & only appt for the Day! So after the consult Steve squeezed me in for cut, color, wash & style for the very next day. I needed it done before the following week and he came in early the following day to accommodate my schedule. That is un heard of for me. Typically, stylists don't go above and beyond, HOWEVER, STEVE DID! I am so please with my color and cut! Steve is a perfectionist and he paid attention to every detail making sure I was 110% happy! I've gone here a few times and each time Young has cut my ear or burned me. She's incredibly rough when playing with my hair or styling it. My hair is not cut straight, it's crooked & when bleached my hair put no toner. So half of my head is a caramel color while the other half is super light. Not to mention when she was ringing me up, she told me a price and I asked her to add tip $10 and she ended up punching in more money than I asked. I will not be going back anymore. read more

I'm giving this place a 4 because of Heather. She's so good with nails! The prices for hair is a little pricey. I've gotten my hair done twice but found someone else who listens and has better prices. Got to Heather for nails! There is at least one person who does nails that I would not recommend. If you check out their work on Instagram you'll see. Do research before you get them done. For hair make sure you do the research and explain to them in detail. I always walk out feeling great about myself. Whether it's getting my hair done, by Yong or going upstairs to see Tonya, I never leave unhappy. Pricing is what you would expect, but finding someone who can do your color and cut the way you like, to the point that I'm so relaxed and trusting, that I almost drift off, that, for me, is wonderful. Tonya, of Waxing with Tonya, is great as well. It's hard to find someone, who knows what they're doing, and respects what you want done. I started going here for waxing in January of 2008. It was my first experience with waxing me legs. This is the worst wax I've ever had. They use the blue wax, which I think is supposed be less painful, with wax sticks and cloth strips. I do not mind the pain. Pulling hairs out by their roots is something I expect to be painful and that's fine by me, I can handle it. The receptionist was very kind and accomodating. They speak English. The decor is very nice and kind of homey in a luxurious way. I went to the same woman every time and every time there would be patches of hair left. Even when I would point out the areas, she would go over them a second time, and the hair would still not come off. Her attitude was "Oh well." That's my perception anyway. She was very fast, but I am not one of those people who want fast. I want a complete and thorough job, and I don't mind paying for it. I paid $80 for a full leg wax. For $80 I expect them to go over the entire area with tweezers and a magnifying glass. After going here a few times I waited a month or so and used Gigi creme wax at home, the pink one with cloth strips, and every single hair came off. So either the wax she was using or her skills sucked. She never suggested trying a different wax or anything. I've tried many places since and always had better results, even when I went back to shaving for a few months and then went back to waxing I've still had better results everywhere else. I really wanted to like this place, I've heard great things about their manicures and pedicures so I thought their waxing would be good too. Maybe their nail services are good and I'd be willing to give them a try. I am sad to give them one star but it really was terrible. The parking is free but it's either on the street or in a dirt parking lot behind the building, not cool if you've just had a car wash. I paid cash but I think they take cards. On the good side it has nice decor, I had no waiting (but I did have an appointment), every one was polite and kind, and they speak English. read more

The aesthetician, Tonya, is pretty terrible, i hesitated leaving a review because i hate leaving bad ones but i made an exception. I went for a facial, but she gave me a microderm instead, which was $30 more. I was suspicious when i noticed in her pamphlet that she offered dermabrasions (something only dermatologists are qualified to give) and she told me that a microderm and a dermabrasion are the same thing. They're definitely not. She was unfriendly, acted annoyed by my questions, and didn't even give me any skin recommendations or do a pre eval, even after i told her I've never had a facial. Her"extraction" was excruciating, and she didnt get any of my blackheads, which was the reason i went in the first place. Then she rushed me out, saying she had another customer. Pretty sure the only time i saw her smile was when i was walking out the door. For $90 i expected a better service honestly. I love the business though, the hair salon downstairs is great. I always get a trim by young, she's awesome! read more

She makes sure she discusses everything she doing so there's no surprises..definitely appreciated. I was nervous because I had been going to another salon for years but had been getting worse service each time. I came in May of 2015 and one year later, I still think about the amazing haircut I got here lol I wish I could remember the name of the lady who cut my hair so I could go back and thank her if I'm ever in the AV again haha My sister usually cuts my hair but she'd been busy and had moved a little further away from me so I wasn't able to go to her and I had a big job interview coming up, so I looked up the best rated salon, which led me here. I asked for whoever was 'best at cutting hair with a razor' because my hair has a lot of layers and is really edgy and choppy (as you can tell). They hooked me up with a Hispanic lady who they said was really good. The outside of the salon looks like a barn, but I guess that's the theme of the shopping center. The inside was nice! I was nervous because i'm so picky about how my hair looks but the woman who cut my hair did such an amazing job. She asked me what i wanted, and I didn't feel nervous kinda telling her what and where I think she should cut while she was doing it. It ended up amazing! The haircut was $20 and I gave her a $5 tip. At the interview, I actually got a compliment on my hair, and ended up getting the job! It was all just great. If I still lived out in the AV, I'd come back here for sure. read more

went to Christopher Michaels yesterday for my first time not knowing what to expect. When I walked in the receptionist greeted me with a smile and was very friendly and professional. I don't recall her name but she is Italian. She was great! The stylist that attended me was Steve. Let me just say that he is the Hispanic version of Guy Tang. And when I say that am speaking of his work. When I sat in his chair he asked me what I wanted to do to my hair. I showed him a pic he explained to me the process and that he would try to go as light as possible without damaging my hair. That to me says a lot right of the bat. That he cares. Not about the money, but about the client. He explained everything (process) as he was doing my hair. Which I appreciate it. The results...bet my expectation! He did a fabulous job! I love my hair. His work is worth every penny! I got compliments right away! I would recommend him in a heart beat! If you are looking for someone that is an expert in ombre, low light, balayage. He is your guy!
