I'm in the area for work and heard great things about Christopher's. I definitely wasn't disappointed. I saw the Hot Toddy Chicken on special. It was great - excellent balance of flavor (I was worried it would be too sweet, but the melted cheddar offset the apple and brandy cream sauce). It was served with haricot verts and roasted garlic mashed potatoes. Their draft beer selection is great and the atmosphere is adorable. First time visit, found everything good, staff was great, priced good and i got a filet mignoin which was on the small side but cooked perfect and what you would expect from a mignon. only down side is that i love mash potatoes but they only have garlic mashed. i do not like garlic and looking at thier menu there are very few items that do not have garlic. i am looking forward to going back to get a better feel for this place and to see consistency and quality. This is my go-to quick week night dinner place because sometimes you do want to go where they know your name and what you usually order. The food is largely in the realm of comfort food with lots of steaks, burgers, pizza, salads and the like on the menu. The menu is extensive for a restaurant of this size so it's a great place to go if you don't know the dining proclivities of the person joining you (i.e. great first date place or a business lunch). There is a full bar and the complimentary bread with strawberry butter is the best. The French onion soup is never too salty and the French Connection (a classic French Dip) sandwich is always perfectly toasted and cheesy (in a good way). The desserts are a bit on the Sodexo-ish side but you didn't need all that sugar anyway. Just get a dessert martini and call it good. read more

Right off the bat, the server told us there was going to be a twenty minute wait before they even took our order (which was true, but in their defense, there was a party in the main dining room) but they were very courteous and kept letting us know that they were going to be with us shortly. Went out here to dinner with my girlfriend. We got the buffalo tenders as an appetizer. The tenders were standard fare, not anything spectacular but edible. I got the butternut apple bisque and the rhode island style calamari. She got the mac and cheese. The butternut apple bisque was ok for the first few bites but quickly became overpoweringly sweet. The calamari was very good. Fried just right and very tender. The mac and cheese was enjoyable to my girlfriend and quite large although I thought it was a little bland. It was pretty loud as we were there about 5 pm so our server was rushing about noticeably. She still managed to do a good job although wait times were a little long for almost everything. When my husband and I are looking for a nicer Dover restaurant with fresh food at a good price and portion size, we come here. We love Third Street Grille, and loved coming even back when we were both still attending UNH (at least 6 years ago or so). You know a place is really good when they are still consistent even after all these years. They bring you delicious hot bread to start that comes out with a compound butter (usually strawberry or some kind of cinnamon). Good bread is always a plus for me. They have solid fettuccine alfredo. Really good burgers (for 7-9 bucks or so). Seafood, ravioli, steak... honestly I don't remember ever having a bad meal here. My favorite dish has to be the maple pecan crusted chicken, which I have ordered at least several times while coming here. The waitstaff has always been very friendly. The ambiance is nice and cozy - color scheme is inviting, they have little tea-light candles lit on the tables and the decor is well laid out. The floor and tables have a rustic feel to them. I have brought my parents here as well and they have found it a great place to have a meal. Third Street Grille does not disappoint! read more

Have eaten at Christopher's (Sunday brunch and lunch) a few times recently and continue to be impressed with the service, value and quality of the food. Very consistent and for our town in which there is a lot of competition, it remains a favorite. The Sunday brunch is somewhat a misleading description since it is really more of an a la carte breakfast menu with all of the usual breakfast fare and a Bloody Mary bar where one may have a traditional one if they choose, or build their own. The last few times we have dined there, we have had the same server, Kevin, who is pleasant, professional and attentive. The food is always prepared according to our desires and the variety of the menu for both brunch and lunch offers something for everyone. We will continue to dine at Christopher's often and recommend it to our friends and family. read more

I went here for the first time last weekend with my girlfriend and my parents who were visiting from out of town. A friend of mine suggested it, and it was directly across the street from where my parents were staying. Busy little place but we were seated promptly. It was clean, cozy, and had nice decor. Our go-to for a nice sit down meal when we don't feel like driving... this is within walking distance, and their food is almost always fresh and delicious, with great service and good prices. The prime rib, sirloin tips, and chicken boursin on risotto are my favorites; the burgers are quite good, and they have great hot wings. we were looking around for a casual, delicious lunch in dover, and this fit the bill. we decided to split the dragon shrimp and bacon wrapped scallops for appetizers, then got a rack of ribs as the entree. the dragon shrimp came on skewers, and it was a little hard to get them off without using my fingers. they had a kind of thick, grainy spicy sauce and served over pineapple salsa. it was a good portion size to split but would have been bit to eat by myself with about 8-10 shrimp. the bacon wrapped scallops were just the right portion, about five on little toothpicks. the bacon was perfectly cripsy and ere was a little chutney that was very thick and possibly made of raisins that was a nice balance. the rack of ribs was great, it was gigantic and the meat fell right off the bone and there was tons of bbq sauce. our waitress was really sweet and made it an overall really pleasant meal. read more

We stopped in Dover for a quick bite to eat and followed Yelp recommendations to Christopher's.... the food was delicious and although we were pressed for time, our waitress, Brittany, was quick, accommodating and she added to our wonderful experience there. We were keen on trying their strawberry butter but as it was only lunch were a bit disappointed at first as it is a dinner only special. However, Brittany made some inquires for us and we were able to sample their strawberry butter which was amazing and it was because of this unique feature that we stopped in. What a GREAT find in small town Dover! Small, intimate, modern bistro with fantastic food. Took my sister there for dinner and we loved it. I had the ribeye - perfectly cooked with that fresh-grilled flavor, sister had the mixed seafood grill with grilled shrimp, scallops (big), and salmon. Finished with a creme brulee also done to perfection. Went on a Thursday night, about a 20 minute wait which was totally acceptable. Had a drink at the small bar. A decent place to eat in Dover. This is not to be taken lightly because there are VERY few decent places to eat here. The menu is not large, but that's usually a good sign as they do what they do very well. If you want the clam chowder, be warned, it is thick and there seems to be a lot of bacon grease in it. It is not white, but grey. Also, I have developed a strange affinity for it. The steaks here have always been cooked exactly to order and are generously cut. They need larger glasses for sodas and iced tea, but that's not much to quibble about. If you are hungry and in Dover, you won't do much better than Third Street. You can, however, do a lot worse. read more

I loved this place. We went there for drinks last weekend and we decided to come back for dinner. FIrst off, they have a great martini list, which my wife certainly enjoyed. The place looks class, but not pretentious. The bartender and waitstaff were friendly. So we came back with her parents for dinner. Everything was reasonably priced and the quality of the food was fantastic. My steak was cooked perfectly. Others at the table ordered fish and had no complaints (which sometimes is just as good as praise). The side items were great and everything was presented well. She greeted everyone walking in that way actually. Who does that? We should have left then, but we didn't. Mistake number 1. Mistake number 2 was the lobster roll: soggy, cold, over salted and obviously frozen and tossed together with zero regard to taste. Frozen store bought fries with that weird crusty coating on them. I found this place on Yelp and it sounded good so I went there for lunch yesterday while I was in the area. The decor is really nice and fresh. We sat at the bar, which is intimate and small, with 1 TV tuned to a basketball game. The French Connection sandwich was fantastic! The Rhode Island style calamari was very very good (lots of hot peppers, just how I like it), and the Greek salad with grilled shrimp was pretty good, but not a stand out. The prices are super reasonable and my only mini-beef with the experience was that the bartender was efficient but seemed detached. There did not seem to be anyone else working the front of the house, so unfortunately that set the tone for our visit. If she'd been warm and engaging, we probably would have lingered a lot longer. The only caution with this place (and not there fault) is watch where you park...there are some close by lots that are apparently notorious for towing people.
