If I could give this place no stars I would...The fried calamari was extremely greasy and there were several big, black burnt pieces of something on the bottom of the dish...It was horrible.. The waitress was the owner's daughter and she was really annoying... Pushing dessert on us while we hadn't even eaten our meal yet..Not that I was going to eat it anyway...She was offended when we didn't have dessert and started saying loudly, What, you aren't going to try my mother's baklava??? Having lived in Portland Or for quite some time, i have become some what of a food snob. I was certainly not disappointed with Chrysanthi's. I love their support of local farms and community as well. Upon entering i was greeted by the friendly staff and the owner. It felt warm and cozy and the ambiance was great for a meal with friends and family. We had a table of 5. The Lobster Zola special was exquisite. The cream sauce was not too heavy or too much. The lobster raviolis themselves were perfectly cooked, filled with lobster chunks, not just barely filled with a few tiny pieces. in the center of the plate on top of the raviolis were chances of lobster tails doc law. well worth it. I enjoyed the steak tips, too, which were ample in size and flavor. I'm glad I skipped the appetizer as this plate was perfect in serving size and completely satiating. I did go for the cheesecake dessert, which was also delicious. I love cheesecake. I would most certainly eat there again. read more

Great food and service, a rare combination at many restaurants. The chicken carbonara was awesome. Tender and moist chicken, creamy and just cheesy enough sauce with garlic toast. This restaurant was recommended to me a couple of years ago, and I just made it to Brookline NH with my husband, sister and B-I-L to sample their lunch fare. Boy, were we wowed! The butternut squash was exquisite; the sauce light and flavorful with a hint of sweetness. The chicken, tomato and spinach made it a filling, satisfying meal. My sister had the fried clams, and they were also excellent; perfect breading with a taste that brought us right back to the ocean! B-I-L had the haddock with risotto, and he raved about the flavors. It was a large enough portion to finish for dinner. Marcus, the chef, came out to greet us, and was happy to hear how impressed we were by our meals. The waitress, Van, managed to serve the entire dining room, while taking time to talk to us about a recent trip to Greece, her home country. I can't recommend this place highly enough. We will definitely be back to sample more of this delicious menu! read more

We love this restaurant. Went this evening and there was four of us and we had wonderful meals and appetizers. Their deserts are great too. The food and customer service is outstanding! They have an extensive menu to choose from. Our server was so attentive and the owner of the restaurant even came to our table to say hello and ask how everything was with our meals. We will go back. They have the BEST seafood dishes around. I was pleasantly surprised with the lightly fried scallops and my husband had the seafood platter. It was just as amazing. Went here two weeks ago for the first time. I had fish and chips, it was excellent. It was a huge helping and I couldn't finish it so i brought the rest home. Hubby had the chicken and sausage cacciatore. His meal was also huge. He said it was excellent. The wait staff was excellent, very informative, and very pleasant. We were both full and had no room for dessert. We heading back there with some friends tonight. read more

Dinner last night with friends at Crysanthi's. Seated promptly by the friendly and attentive staff. Nice room, comfortable seating, quite loud when busy. Pleasant waitress came right to our table, took drink orders. Zucchini chips appetizer was fun and delicious. We had the haddock special with lobster, steak tips, chicken/broccoli pasta and more. Generous portions, everyone was happy with their dinners. Tasty, good sized desserts. The restaurant was essentially empty (but for us) by 9:15. This was an A-OK dinner. Food and service was good. Fairly reasonably priced. Dinner and drinks for 6 came to $289. before tip. A country American (Greek?) restaurant with decent specials. We had fun and will return. read more

I can't say enough about this restaurant. We had the zucchini chips as an appetizer. Out of this world! The rest of the meal was fantastic. I don't recall the name of my dish. It had lobster and scallops over linguini with a lobster cream sauce. To die for! We all shared pizza and authentic Greek salad. Service was excellent. We will definitely be back!! read more

Just moved to town and thought we would give it a try - the parking lot is always full. And with good reason! Seasonal drinks are terrific, and the menu had more than one item on it I wanted to try. I love this place. It's become our go-to for dinner and even breakfast (weekend's only, I think). Their seafood entrees are great- the shrimp appetizers is fantastic. Every time we visit Chrysanthi's, there are multiple improvements! The dining room is now appointed with decorative sconces of olive branches and sound absorbent ceiling panels. There is a good sized deck for outside dining, more seating in the bar area. As always, the ever-present owner checks on every table, truly listens to his customers, and ensures everything is satisfactory. The waitstaff continue to be friendly, knowledgeable, and accessible. Hybrid Greek/Italian restaurant. I've been there around 6ish times now, and the Italian portion of the menu is definitely the winner in my book. The two times I got Greek food I found myself getting jealous of my wife's plate. Ok, this is the important part of this review: You might think $16.99 is too much to pay for eggplant parmesan, but then you would be wrong. I'm usually a meat eater, but this is seriously the best EP I've ever had. Friendly staff. Great place, especially for the area. We got the corn chowder soup which was very good. That was just a warm up. The Main course was the seafood platter which we had split in two (neither of us could finish it) and it was outstanding. VERY fresh, fried haddock, shrimp, and scallops. This is one of my favorite restaurants. They have a wonderful menu with lots of variety. I go here whenever I do not feel like cooking. My favorite dish is the Mac 'n cheese. Even the simplest dish can be made fancy at Chrysanthi's. The service is wonderful. I will say that it is a little pricey, but worth the splurge. Go there next time you're in town. read more

We just moved to Brookline and have already eaten here three times. We've dined in twice, once for lunch and once for dinner and we got pizza for takeout once. The food has been excellent every time. Dine-in service is solid and friendly. It's a little loud inside during dinner hours but there's outdoor seating that's much quieter. The seafood tastes fresh and they have excellent specials to choose from. The pizza was good - I am a thin crust person ( I grew up on southeastern MA bar pizza) so I am really looking forward to trying their thin crust option, but their regular crust is good too. This place is definitely going to be a staple. read more

First off let me say I've never had a bad breakfast here. Just love the omelettes. That being said, I don't care for the pizza crust. Toppings were ok, but really didn't care for the crust . . . too hard, no flavor, not buttery, cardboard. I really like this place, too. I will stick with breakfast or try the other menu items. The food and service here is exceptional. Although they were super busy, we never felt like we waited long to order food, drinks, or the check. We both loved our food, Spanikopita and Seafood Angelina. They source local food and make a lot of stuff from scratch. Everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. My daughter and I ordered gyros. She bite into the sandwich and found a olive pit, thinking it was just a terrible mistake everything else seemed fine. Then we went home and I had the rest of her sandwich as she had filled up on appetizers. I found two more olive pits, called the restaurant talked to the Manager who basically called me a liar. He said he ordered his olives without pits and I was mistaken. Told me to come back. Are you kidding. Not a chance. Don't recommend at all, the Manager should learn how to handle customers in a better professional manner. read more

This restaurant is small but has some really good food. Something's like the burger are hit and miss, but if you're willing to dish out the money for the more expensive dishes you will not e disappointed! I've had the lamb shank twice and it was one of the best things I've ever had. The desserts are also very enjoyable. If you don't want to wait get there early. It fills up fast. read more
