Went to this place on a Sunday afternoon and i have no regrets. The restaurant was amazing! We came there pretty early around 1PM and the place wasn't busy so the server really took care of us. The quality of the meat is just amazing and they're broths are really flavorful! The selection of vegetables and seafood is good as well. They have all the usuals for dipping sauces. As for the dessert, you can get ice cream and cake. One thing I could comment on is lack of servers. Good thing it wasn't busy when we visited but all in all I highly recommend it read more

My Wife is from Germany, and is a picky eater so I didn't know if she would like it. She LOVED IT! She had the Miso broth and loved the Fish balls and Crab. I had the Spiciest broth with meat and Veggies, It was delicious. The Price was Good for all you can eat around 24.99 because we went for Lunch. Service was quick and friendly. They helped us to make the perfect dipping sauce for our food. Their was a lot of parking because it is in a big shopping center. It has a very open layout and has a lot of space in between tables. Such a comfy vibe - super friendly and kind service, comfortable seating and chill ambiance, high quality meats, and tons of self serve sides and sauces, which made the experience that much better imo because you can really go at your own pace! The good: Easy parking, friendly staff, AYCE for a decent price, soup base is delicious, self serving bar for veggie and seafood. I also like the wooden table and chair styles. The weird: Disposable paper plates and bowls in 2023. Can be improved: Four slices of meat come with each plate, they are very thin to the point of semi opaque and breaks apart as you pick them up with chopsticks. There are no spare plates by the self serving bar or sauce bar. You either have to use the ones they seat you with or ask for new ones, which is not convenient because they seem understaffed. This establishment took over a Japanese shabu shabu place that I never got to try. Went with a couple of friends since we're big foodies. It was my first time trying mala spice broth but this just confirmed to me I'm not a fan of mala. We also had tomato broth in the other side. There was a decent amount of vegetables, frozen meat to choose from as well as some desserts and side dishes. I was thrown off by the paper plates and bowls. There should've been actual bowls and plates. It's a soup place. It's going to drip right through. There were no piles of communal plates to get the vegetables, snacks, etc. I didn't even know they had ice cream until we left. It was at the front of the entrance. No one directed us. I came on Friday night with a friend because we wanted to try a new hot pot place. The food overall was good and the chaun spicy soup base was perfect; the tomato soup base is made from actual tomatoes. The girl who waited on us was very attentive. A couple things I noticed though: 1. Not sure if this is due to COVID or staffing issues, but everyone used paper plates and bowls. This was not ideal for getting frozen seafood and veggies back to back. We were not allowed to have extra plates when asked; I snagged an extra bowl from a stack of things on a spare table, and shortly after, all those plates and bowls were stored away out of sight. None were freely available to grab. This is odd since many photos on here show actual plates and bowls being used at one point. 2. The sauce bar labels were mixed up and it was hard to tell which was which. 3. The appetizers and fruit offered were unimpressive. The watermelon wasn't even ripe. 4. Another review mentioned this, but the meat portions are 4 slices per plate. That's not a lot, but this place IS an AYCE, so you're technically not limited. 5. We had to ask for napkins a couple of times and were only given like 2 each time. Seems like the place is limited on these essentials or rationing them. 6. While the owner was physically there, it seemed only one girl was doing all work (taking orders, delivering meat, utensils, cleaning). One guy was designated to bring soup bases out. 7. Despite them being included in the dinner price, we were not offered ice cream or cake at the end of our meal. We didn't realize until after we left but it didn't matter because we were so full. And this isn't something to count against the place, but I found it odd that a hot pot place had carpet flooring. This was likely left over from the previous business, but in an environment that serves soup -- meaning possible spills -- carpet will be an incredible pain to clean up. I may or may not be back. I will say again that the soup bases here are very good, so that is a positive. These hot pot places are all over Rowland and Diamond Bar, with multiple AYCE establishments, so there's a lot of selection for patrons -- but it's also crucial for businesses to step it up as people become more selective over where to spend their dollars, especially in a dwindling economy. read more

The owner went out of her way to bring a separate bland broth for our toddler so we could enjoy something more spicy. I've been to this restaurant three times and over the course of my various visits, the quality and service has declined. I noticed the following changes: (1) Customers are no longer allowed to do two broths if you are eating by yourself (2) All plates have changed to paper plates and bowls. Before, you were able to grab clean plates and fill them at the sauce and salad bar. Now, you get three paper plates when you sit down. While you can ask for additional plates, there are no additional plates that you can grab yourself which means you are likely reusing plates you already used to fill with vegetables and sauces. (3) The biggest shift for me was a huge decline in meat quality. When I first visited, I found that the meat quality was very tender and on par with other similarly priced places like Shabu88. In my most recent visit, I found every meat chewy and disappointing especially for a hot pot place at this price point. Despite the declines in other areas, their broths remain a strength. Each one is distinct and flavorful; however, I would advise those who are not good with spice to avoid the Chuan Pot Spicy or at least ask to have the spiciness reduced. In short, when I first went to Chuan Pot, I thought it was going to be my go-to hot pot place in the area, but after my last experience, I will likely opt for others in the Rowland Heights area as they are better from both a taste and price perspective. read more

Their soups are really good and flavorful, I got the spicy pot regular (it was a good amount of spice in my opinion) and they have a moderate for those of you who don't want it as spicy! My bf got the tomato soup one and he said it's was good and light. They also have a drink station with orange juice, mango, blueberry, water and soy milk! They have an assortment of fruits and a make your own sauce station. They have a recommended sauce recipe and my bf said it was really good! They also have a station for veggies and seafood that you also grab yourself. They also have a good assortment of noodles to choose from udon, vermicelli, ramen, and some other clear noodle. Hmm...not sure where all the 5 stars are coming from. After seeing a new hot pot place open up with impeccable reviews, I was really excited to try this place but unfortunately my experience on a Saturday night was lackluster in comparison to my expectations going in. The food was okay, nothing that blew my mind, especially with all the different hot pot restaurants in the area. Soup options are pretty basic and standard. Their selection for AYCE is already quite limited. But when I went, they didn't have 2 out of 4 of the meat choices, and didn't have 1 of the 4 soup options. Yet I paid full dinner price ($32.99). They only had beef belly and lamb when I went 2.5 hrs before closing time on a Saturday. Also they don't serve rice (or they were out of rice for the day) if that's important to you. Service was lacking as well. When I arrived, there were no tables immediately available so they told us to write our name + phone number down and said they will call us when there is a table ready for us. Which is totally fine and actually preferred. So we decided to go to H Mart to kill some time, but when we came back to the restaurant they already seated someone that put their name down after us. Where was the call to let us know there is a table ready? I don't know. So they seated us at a dirty table in the meantime and awkwardly cleaned around us. It wasn't that busy but their sauce bar and buffet section was not proactively being refilled. We had to flag down a waitress to let them know x and y are empty. The waitresses never checked up either to ask if we wanted to order more meat. So every time I needed something I'd have to scan the restaurant to find where they are and get their attention. I did see a hiring sign at the front, so I think they are short staffed, so hopefully the service improves in the future. How ridiculous is this? The order in which they serve people is chaotic and doesn't make any sense. It would've been nice if she took a minute just to acknowledge us and give us an update but now we just get seated and then get completely ignored. I'm glad my girlfriend and I decided to give this hot pot place a try since it's new and we were not disappointed. The place is AYCE with a limited selections of meats and soup bases along with self-serve station for veggies and seafood. I don't mind the limited meat choices since I only care about lamb anyways. So it really depends on how important it is for you to have a wide range of selections. I've tried a lot of hot pot places around the area and the lamb here is honestly the best quality. The premium beef is really good as well but I'm biased towards lamb. So try them for yourself. From the self-serve station I would recommend the corn, fish cake, shrimp and crawfish. The corn was definitely our favorite since it tasted sweet and fresh. Overall, I would highly recommend this place as an AYCE alternative to the pay per plate hot pot places in the area. The price point and the quality of the meat makes the spot well worth the try. What the place lacks in variety is 100% made up by the quality. As a bonus the place seems pretty underrated so you don't have to wait in line for an eternity, but I doubt that will be the case for long. We had a lot of tomato hotpot's in other restaurants and I can definitely say this is our favorite! Service was great too and the owner is super friendly and accommodating.
