I visited Chuan Pot on Sunday, 04/23/23, during lunchtime. I decided to dine-in solo, and I was able to have a single pot. I got the Spicy Miso Broth and it was so flavorful. I added different meats, ham, bok choy, imitation crab sticks, and udon noodles. It was truly an enjoyable, filling meal. In the end, I was offered two scoops of delicious ice cream. The staff workers are pleasant and friendly as well. They were attentive and made sure that I got all of the meats I wanted. Overall, Chuan Pot is beyond amazing! Chuan Pot is a AYCE shabu place that's relatively worth the price! The ambiance was pretty interesting, we came in a Saturday night and it wasn't too crowded around 6pm! The tables are all made of a type of wood I commonly remember seeing in my uncles' and auntie's houses growing up haha so it gave kind of a nostalgic feel. I found the music and vibe to be quite unique for a shabu place! They played jazz and had a screen with a Hawaiian backdrop; it made the dinner experience feel strangely calming, not the usual upbeat experience people may find at other places. As far as food and service, it was really great! Both of our female servers were super sweet, attentive, and friendly. They checked on us often and made sure we always had meat on our table! They only serve 4 types of meat and have 6 soup bases to choose from but allowed us to order two plates of each (not sure if this was because we were a group of 4 or because it wasn't too packed). The meats were good quality and were tasty in our two soup bases. They give you paper plates and bowls to eat from which worked for us! They also have a sauce table with ~8 toppings, a water bar, and a veggie/noodle/rice/other misc shabu foods bar. I was happy with the variety of items they had! My family and I decided to try this place out since it was near us! My uncle called and made a reservation for us and they accidentally gave our tables away to another group so we had to wait 30 minutes to get seated. Other than that, the customer service was great! They workers were nice, accommodating, and willing to answer questions. Immediately though, what rubbed us the wrong way was that they gave everyone paper plates, cups, and bowls. It felt very unsanitary. I understand if they did this for pandemic sake, but the whole theme of the restaurant was AYCE hotpot with a buffet to choose from haha. Speaking of food, the selection for the hot pot was good. It had everything you would typically eat (noodles, tofu, veggies, fish balls, etc). I personally thought it was tasty, yet I wouldn't say it was worth the price. Delicious meat though! We also liked that there was a separate table for your meats, since your eating area can get crowded quickly otherwise. We tried the spicy miso and the tom yum, and both were perfect. Meat selection is not as much, but it's not bad for the price they ask per person. The meat quality could be better and further enhanced for better meat quality. Vegetables were cut fresh and drenched in water to ensure they stayed fresh, which was great. Recently visited here with a coworker to catch up on business and personal life. We felt like a soupy affair so we opted for this establishment. First off, parking here is adequate. Even so, I would say peak hours could pose a challenge. Upon walking into the establishment, it was pleasantly decorated with a wood element theme. I liked the idea. What threw me off a bit was the paper bowl and plate. If I were to enjoy a sit down meal, I would prefer to have proper utensils, bowls, etc. My friend's bowl began to breakdown and leak a bit after a duration of hot soup clearing through it. We had to double up his bowl to prevent the leaking from further spreading. The sauce bar is a bit meek compared to counterparts I've visited. It had the main elements but was definitely lacking a bit. Tasted just fine. The soup and protein was also ok, nothing too memorable or stood out aside from the fact that it was adequate. A new hot pot place has opened in Diamond Bar and it is in the same area as H Mart supermarket. This looks like a traditional China-style hot pot. A must to try out and enjoy with friends and family! You can come here during lunch or even dinner they are open for both. I came here during lunchtime and it was pretty busy. Their menu is very simple and you just have to select what you want to put inside your soup broth. The menu is also in English which is a bonus! They have an open bar filled with vegetables and also some tasty different drinks, a sauce bar where you make your sauce to dip with the meat/ vegetables. We ordered two soup bases which were the spicy Chuan Pot and a tomato broth one. Both of the soup bases were pretty good. You cook the meat, seafood, and vegetables inside the pot and then you will dip it into the sauce. I was super full and the lunch went well! Service to get orders or meat was fast and you can eat as much as you want. This place got it right except I wish they had quail eggs as well. Those are my favorite for hot pot. read more

Had dinner with small party here for cool weather today. I remember this location was Japanese cuisine, but now AYCE hot pot. Surprised that they take reservations since most of this type of restaurants don't. So, we had no wait time to be seated. They provide 3 types of beef and 1 lamb, served by request and all others including shrimps and fish are on the self-service salad bar. Their meat is shabu style, very thinly sliced, but I like that since this way meat can be soft and is still well cooked. The salad bar also has several appetizers and a sweet soup, but the down side is they refill the appetizers slowly and constantly empty once people get crowded. But they serve meat pretty fast still and that's the point. Lastly, they placed and gapped their tables in large spaces, very comfortable. Plus, their tables are hardwood. I had heard about Chuan Pot from Yelp and decided to check it out. Entering the restaurant you are greeted with a Kabuki mask display on your left, sause bar on the right, and a open room with seating that looks woodenesque. There were not that many customers so myself and my three group members were seated immediately. The ordering here works that you order the meats and broth through the server, and any seafood and vegetables you get yourself at the serving bars. They do offer free appetizers which were vegetable egg rolls and sesame balls. The menu consist of simple broths such as their special, miso, spicy miso, tom yum, tomato, etc., while the meats had brisket, beef shoulders and eye. There was a small selection of meats and soups so do not expect too much variety. The seafood bar was very minimal consisting of crab legs, fish balls, clams, mussels, lucky bag filled with shrimp, fillet, rice cake, eggs, etc., while the vegtable bar had basics such as lettuce, spinich, glass noodles and more. Not a big variety. I mostly ate the spicy miso, what I can say is that it was miso yes, however there was no spice sadly so if you are looking for a spicy broth go for their special or their tom yum. The meats and other ingredients tasted fine nothing more. At the end they do offer free ice cream which they had vanilla, strawberry, rainbow sherbert, ube, and cookies and cream. A heads-up that this restaurant does not allow you to take leftovers out and you have to finish all your food in the restaurant, leaving leftovers will give you a extra charge as seen on the menu. The ice cream is a exception. Overall it was a okay experience, the staff was nice to check on us every now and then, but I would say it is good to try this place at least once. read more

Tried this restaurant for the first time today and I'll probably be back. Our server, Lauren, was awesome. She went through the menu with us and we even discovered we have some things in common. The restaurant wasn't too crowded at 1p on a Saturday, which was nice. The food was really good, I had the miso broth with the beef options. The veggies were great too!! My only concern, not complaint, is that they could probably use more storage space. When I went to the restroom, I saw a bunch of boxes and other storage items. The soup pot is divided in two so hopefully everyone can agree on broth hahah we were told there's only one portion of spicy miso left and had to get regular miso for the other side. The only other good option looked like the house special but the waitress said it's not drinkable since it's too spicy and only for dipping. Does sounds interesting though. The rest of the broth didn't sound too appetizing. They gave all paper plates, bowls and cups which is nice since it's recyclable and I love that but always strange since we're eating soup. The organization needs some help. The stations of sauce and veggies/sides don't have any plates available so you have to wait for a waiter. Plus water had its own station which I found strange as well. Their cooked food options were mediocre. Egg rolls, peanuts, sesame balls and such. The veggies, seafood, tofu and sauce options were good and plentiful. When we ordered meat, we were told they only had #2 and #3. And this continued the whole time. They never had all meat options available (which they only have 4 in total) and their lamb is waaaaay too gamey. And sadly that only left us with 2 options for meat (and this is supposed to be AYCE). Plus, sometimes there was a big gap between getting meat after ordering as they were always needing to cut more. This was a first for us with ayce shabu. The beef options we got to try were yummy though. Thennnn, they said they were out of ice cream after! What DO they have in stock !?!!? We came here tonight for the first time. It was really good. We got the #1 and #7 broths and they were both great! Proteins were all good quality as was the produce. I loved the variety of mushrooms and noodles they have. The place itself was spotless and everything felt fresh. There are boba/fruit tea places near by if you want a tea after. Meat was chuck eye, round eye, beef belly and lamb.
