I was craving Japanese bbq and I've been to Chubby Cattle in Little Tokyo before but Since I I lived in the valley and don't feel like go to that side of LA this time,So I brought my husband to Westfield Topanga mall to try this Chubby Cattle for the first time here for both of us and here is what I think. Food : Quality is great! We are Wagyu lover and we can tell if the restaurant claim that they use Wagyu and they didn't,Obviously we can tell this Chubby Cattle they sure did serve Wagyu for sure! It's melt in your mouth.You can really taste the quality of the meat.All those side dish are good as well.Self serve Miso soup was a good choice and fountain sodas always my favorite drinks and for milk tea lover they sure do have milk tea for you as well.They do have self serve dipping sauce and my goto was ponzu with chilli and green onion I think. Been to the Little Tokyo location and was excited to try this new location, which was honestly such a huge disappointment. The number one was mainly the quality of meat that so far below the quality the other location had. We were excited to try the bar that had more side dishes and they did not even refill and were unable to try, which made us more disappointed even more. The price was definitely not worth coming here. We came on a monday night at 6pm and wait for over two hours, by the time it was our turn we were rushed to put in our last call orders. It felt very crowded and stuffy in there as well, which made the experience even less enjoyable. The positive part is the service, the servers were able to manage the crowd well and clear dishes so fast. Though there is a lot of action going on they took the time to explain the menu. We can put in the orders in the tablet, which made it convenient to put in more orders. The quality of the fish for sushi,nigiri,carpaccio were good. I don't understand how there are so many positive reviews but this visit might have been a bad night. I'm also not sure if the other reviews are legitimate. But here is my honest opinion of this location which I highly recommend to avoid and do the extra drive to Little Tokyo instead. read more

We had a reservation at Chubby Cattle in Woodland Hills, so we were seated right away. I definitely recommend making a reservation to avoid waiting and to make sure your visit is worth the trip. This was our second time at this location, which already says a lot -- we really enjoy it here. The food was great, consistently flavorful, and the overall experience felt just as good as our first visit. Didn't realize there was a location in this area and also didn't realize they were still in soft opening. I was so happy that there wasn't a wait on a Saturday afternoon. Usually for the chubby chain places, it's 1-2 hour wait times. Got lucky here! This overall location did feel a bit "small" compared to the other locations I've been to. But they are located inside the Westfield mall, right next to target. It's nice and clean since they just opened. 5/5 for Alyssa our server! She was fantastic with her check in and attention to our table and her recommendations. I gave the overall place 4 stars bc they are still in soft opening and working our some kinks. Their soda machine wasn't working and the bar/drink station wasn't super noticeable. They did have two milk tea options but both milk teas were placed seperately from each other. The self serve side dishes/ desserts area had some options but it was hard to see the labels. We opted for the gold tier which gives you some specialty meats that doesn't come with silver. I am member so my husband and I got member pricing. Meat quality is good. You can taste the Wagyu flavors that melt in your mouth. We were bummed that they didn't have sesame oil as other locations do and sesame oil pairs well with their meats. Overall, I will probably return again next year, once they find their rhythm. We came here with a party of 10, 7 adults and 3 kids for my friend's birthday party. Even we got here when they just open but we had to wait for more than 1hour to get seated. We had 90 minutes to sit there (but only 70 minutes to place the order, which the server never told us this part) and have to wait for 10~15 between each orders. The meat took awhile to arrive with only 3 slices of meat on 1 order which is very annoying when you with big party. They started to time when you just sat down while you're still wondering which tier to get. In my opinion, they only should start the timer once you complete your first order. The menu tablet wasn't working well after the first order. It kept freezing or pause that required us to close it and refresh. The tablet got locked out, preventing us from ordering 20mins before the time ended, without server telling us to place the last order until we complained. I placed the last order and the food never arrived until after we paid. The host was so meant to tell us outloud that "we were 15 mins overstayed and many people are waiting for our table outside". I regret to sign up for membership. Beside the premium meat they give only one time, all the other meats were just ok, the steak is chewy. The sushi order took forever to come. The only good thing I like is their milk tea and the Argentina shrimps which I ordered 5 more at the end but the manager only came to give us 1 order so he can hand us the bill. Also be ware even when you come party with kids and over 6, they force auto gratuity 20% of bill which is standard but they charge you on the full price (before the kid's discount price and memebership discount). As Chubby Club members, we are already huge fans of other locations, so we were excited to try here. We were greeted by and given the rundown by Alyssa, who is super knowledgeable and friendly! I appreciate how she gave us her recommendations for specialty dishes as well as different cuts of meat, because we had no idea where to start. Since we opted for Gold Tier, we selected the A5 Miyazaki Ribeye, Full-Blood Wagyu Steak, and Otoro Nigiri. These cuts were definitely the best ones of the night. Everything is ordered via the iPad at our table. The self-serve station has a ton of unlimited options, including curry rice, wagyu sliders, corn cheese, and side dishes like kimchi. You can also make your own meat dipping sauce, or opt to use the tableside sauces. Given its location, we definitely will be back again to try more specialty dishes! read more

Came during their soft opening! My coworkers and I decided to come here together and we were a large party (11). One of us came early and put our names down at around 5:30 pm and we were able to be seated at 8 pm, which may have been so long as it was a Friday night and the entire place was massively packed. I will say I do think the amount of table seating is smaller than one would expect from an all-you-can-eat kbbq spot so I think that's why the wait time can be insane. Parking is avaliable for free at the Topanga mall and I suggest parking in the structure nearest so you're not stuck walking all the way aorund outside if you're parked after the mall shuts down. It was $55 for one for the all you can eat options (silver) that we went for. Your table can order around 10 items at once (meats, fishes, etc) and there is a 7 minute timer before you are permitted to order more. We didn't have any issue w this as it takes time to cook the meat and eat it though I suggest ordering more while you are still cooking some of the meats so they are avaliable immediately after you are done. There is a time limit for how long you can stay at a table and they will politely tell you when your time is up. I did feel like it was a fair amount of time though I can't remember if it was 1.5 or 2 hrs. They also have a buffet where you can pick up desserts, veggies, fruits, soups, hamburgers, chicken nuggets and fries, and drinks! It was our first time dining at Chubby Cattle, but we had an awesome experience. We didn't have a reservation, so the estimated wait time was 30-45 minutes at about 6pm on a Wednesday evening. This was an accurate estimate, they texted us just at the 30 minute mark and we had 5 minutes to get back to the restaurant after walking around the mall to kill time. Though later, I overheard the wait was 1-1.5 hrs, so we'll definitely be making reservations in the future! Our hostess gave us a quick runthrough of how the tiers and the self-service stations worked. From there, our experience only got better. While all the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, shout out to Ferny, our server, for being so patient and awesome during our time there! He was very attentive, and answered any questions or requests we had. He definitely made it a memorable visit, and we'd be so happy to see him again. He also walked us through getting the points for our Chubby Club membership at the end when checking out. Just stellar service all around. The food was great, though there were a couple of items out of stock. I did miss out on the durian cheese which I was looking forward to since it was listed on the menu, but the staff kindly explained that the self-service items rotate for availability. The meat quality was delicious, though it wasn't always explained which meat was which when they were dropped off, so for a couple items we were guessing what we were eating. The marbling on the meat made it tasty, and everything was brought to our table soon after ordering on the provided tablet. The ordering system on the tablet is intuitive and easy to navigate, making it a simple matter to order. I definitely signed up for the Chubby Club ONE membership, especially after hearing that you get points to redeem towards your birthday meal. All in all, I can only hope that the food and service at my local Wagyu House will be as good as what we experienced here at the Topanga location. read more

I was invited to the soft opening all the way in Canoga Park (phew, what a drive from SGV!) and easily found the spot just across from Valet Parking at the Westfield Topanga Mall. Alyssa was our server and was very friendly and checked on us often. We had a good spread of A5 wagyu from choosing the diamond menu and tried the nigiri with foie gras and uni (both yum). They have quite a selection of veggies and fruits at the self service as well as wagyu sliders and hot items such as corn cheese, sweet potato cheese and Portuguese egg tarts (my fave). They had a variety of additional desserts as well such as matcha mochi and chocolate crepe cake and self serve ice cream. I was too full to have much more than my earl grey tea swiss roll and egg tart. They also have a selection of self serve drinks: soda fountain, jasmine milk tea, samurai milk tea (my fave), as well as two slushy drink machines. If you're into rice they have an interesting machine where you place the plate underneath and push a button and hot piping rice falls onto your plate, located right next to the miso soup server. This place is quite a stretch drive for me, but I would like to come back and bring my local friends in the area here. Great staff and I got to meet the manager! We spent almost $300 for dinner, which we expected, but the overall experience left us disappointed. This is a buffet where you order your main dishes on a tablet, and the staff brings those items to your table. If you want drinks, salad, desserts, or anything else from the buffet, you have to get it yourself. Because of that, I was surprised when the payment was brought to the table and the server stood there while we completed the transaction. The tip screen was already set to 20%, which would have been almost $60-70. I have no problem tipping for great service, but it didn't feel justified for the level of service we received. What was most frustrating was being charged for both of my young children. Before we were seated, I explained that one of my children wasn't going to eat. He is autistic and only ate the Goldfish crackers we brought for him. I was told he still had to be charged regardless. I understand restaurants have policies, but it was disappointing to pay for a child who didn't eat any of the buffet. The food was good, but the overall experience didn't feel like a good value. Between paying for a child who didn't eat, the mostly self-service setup, and feeling pressured to leave a large tip while someone stood at the table waiting, I left feeling disappointed. I hope the restaurant considers making exceptions for situations like this and rethinks the way the payment and tipping process is handled. I'm so excited that Chubby Cattle finally opened in the valley. It's located right next to Target in the Topanga mall. This location has some exclusive items and also has a self service sides bar, rice bar, soda, and dessert bar! My favorites were the Australian Wagyu M8-9 Chuck Eye and Wagyu Nigiri. All the meat was so delicious and amazing quality. We had the gold tier but the silver is just as good! Tyler was an amazing server, he was very knowledgeable about the different cuts of the meat and very attentive to our table. One of my fave AYCE spots, so I'm super happy they finally opened a location closer to me! This location is on the first floor by Target, and I definitely recommend parking in the parking structure along Owensmouth for easier access. Came on a Friday night and waited about 1 hour and 30 minutes, which honestly wasn't surprising for a busy Friday. Ordering is done through an iPad and you get 90 minutes to eat. We got the Gold Tier for 2 people ($150, or $143 with membership). Unfortunately, our grill was a little faulty since the fire only really worked on one side, which made cooking a bit difficult. The meats were a little hit or miss this time too, especially the A5 brisket which was tougher. But one thing that NEVER disappoints across every location is the salmon carpaccio. Easily my favorite item on the menu! Service was also really fast when it came to serving food and clearing plates, which made the experience smoother despite the wait. Went at 1:30pm on a Saturday and we only waited 20minutes. There are no reservations on Fri, sat, and Sunday, so I recommend going early. There's a lot of seating at this location. Bathroom was nice. I always enjoy kbbq, and this spot fulfills the need. The meat options are on point as each one is delicious and well worth the order. They also have wagu burgers as well you can grab while you're waiting for your order. The order process is interesting as you have the monitor at your table and you make your selections.
