I was so excited when I heard about this new location near me! I'd never been to one before and I had the Rowland Heights one on my list but now I don't have to go that far! Special shoutout to our server, Jamie, who made our first time experience amazing! I'm already dreaming about the next time I can go back... Boyfriend and I went on a Saturday before 6 pm and we should've expected it being their soft opening but the entrance was packed with many people trying to get on the waitlist. Even as a party of 2, our expected wait time was 2 hrs. We did end up having to wait that long before we finally got the text letting us know our table was almost ready, but luckily since it's in the mall we were able to walk and fill our time up by visiting stores. It also wasn't until our table was almost ready that the hostess decided to let us know they had complimentary milk tea for the wait. The restaurant itself did not look that big and there's a lot of shared booth seating with other parties. Our server, Jamie, was so wonderful overall and very helpful in explaining how the menu worked and started us based off what our tastes were but eventually we tried every meat on the menu. They do have a strict time limit on how long you can stay but the food consistently came quickly. We chose the gold tier items to try the A5 Wagyu cuts and let me tell you those bites were heavenly. They were so buttery and just melted in our mouths. The A5 wagyu nigiri was the perfect bite. Jamie graciously helped us cook a lot of the food which I was grateful for because we didn't know how long we were supposed to cook the different items. The self-serve bar was a little limited and I wish they had more side options, but they were yummy - I really enjoyed the vegan shumai that was stuffed with sticky rice and shiitake mushrooms and the chicken cartilage. My boyfriend thought the wagyu burger was so good that he ate the pickles in it and he typically hates pickles. I also tried their slushy machine but it was more like juice...flavor was still good though. I wish I had more room in my stomach for the drinks and dessert because their milk tea was so creamy and decadent and the egg tart was so flakey and custardy. Even after all that they offer you Melona bars and I couldn't say no to the ube flavor! By the time we finished, we were absolutely stuffed and practically had to waddle to our car. While there are still a few small kinks that could use improvement, we had an amazing experience dining here because the food was spectacular and the service from everyone there was top tier. Waited 2 hours and was never told by the host to "check in" once you get a text from Yelp saying "your table's almost ready! Head there now", so our name was removed From the waitlist. We were waiting near the restaurant since then, not under the impression that we were supposed to see the host at that time, especially since I had already confirmed my reservation via Yelp. In my experience, most restaurants who utilize yelp's waitlist will prompt people to see the host in their messages. Not sure why this chubby cattle location didn't have that specified. Either way, this could have also easily been avoided had we at least been told By the host verbally that we would need to see the host after receiving the text message. That wasn't even specified.... Apparently this is a newer location, which seems evident in how they handle their service/poor basic communication. Employees are still trying to figure out a flow. Chubby cattle finally made it to the valley! Beware of long wait times but worth a try if you are looking for upscale ayce. No reservations but I do like the fact they have bigger tables compared to the SGV location. Chubby cattle is located in the Topanga mall right next to target on the lower level. Plenty of parking in the structure walkable from target. You start with selecting between gold and silver menu. The gold has a lot more premium choices of meat but it is limited which is great to try if it's your first wagyu experience. You order with an iPad and the meat comes out quick. The secret is dipping the meat into their special salt and other dipping sauces. The A5 brisket is definitely the winner in repeat orders sadly it only comes in 3 slices but you have the option to max out at 10 orders in your cart every time which is nice. They have other seafood and sushi options as well as an other cold items at the salad bar. Lastly, can't forget the dessert bar which includes egg tarts, crepe cakes, ice cream machine and other unique beverage options like milk tea. There is a 90 minute time limit and the whole party needs to be present to be seated. Our server Tyler was very friendly and provided excellent service. The price point is a little on the higher end but would come back just for Tyler! Unfortunately no alcoholic beverages hopefully that gets updated soon! read more

Had a rough start because of the wait and it did seem like my party was being ignored but after reading all the other reviews it kind of made sense about their system in placing parties but still was hangry about it, especially since it just opened when we went. The grill did turn off at least twice but the staff and manager were supportive and helpful to the inconvenience. Thankfully it did not last long enough for me to ask for more time at the table. The food, just SUPERB! The meat melted like butter. I was satisfied with the other items like sushi. The sides were okay, like the seaweed tasted a bit off. The miso soup was alright but can't ask for better quality since it is coming from a machine. I did want to try their daikon radish but unfortunately they did not have some that day. The wagyu slider was GODDAMN DELICIOUS!! The place wasn't smoky and overly crowded for the amount of people. As soon as we got seated, we were greeted by the best server, Kent! It was super busy, and seating wasn't guaranteed, but the host Serene was so kind and accommodating -- she quickly was able to check us in and made sure we were taken care of. My bf and I were influenced based on social media to come and check this palce out. I feel like anywhere that features wagyu in its menu gets so much hype. We came for his birthday dinner and waited over an hour. They said the wait can be up to 2-3 hours so it can be fairly brutal. I recommend coming when you're not hungry yet, putting your name down, and doing some shopping at the mall (it's located at the Westfield). They have a tier system so you pay more to get more premium cuts of meat but even with the more premium level, there's a limit to how much you can order. We opted for the highest level and some of the items were pretty decent - it's obviously worth trying everything that's premium since you're paying for it. You order off the touch screen on the table which feels very pop-arty. Many of the orders we put in had delays and we had to remind them about certain dishes. We initially thought based on the IG video we saw that the waiter cooks your food for you but we discovered that isn't the case. You still have to cook your own meats but if you ask, they make recommendations on how long to cook certain meats. But if you order a ton, it's easy to not know what meat you're even cooking. I wish they put labels on things with its cook time so it's easy to know. The meal itself was okay but I don't think worth the added cost compared to other kbbq spots. After the meal though, we honestly felt so gross and we felt that way for about 2-3 days after the meal. TMI but I was burping up the smell of kbbq meat for literally 2-3 days and couldn't escape it. We think it's because of how fatty so many of the meats are. We - or at least I - most likely won't ever come back because of this. I'm a member but ive been to this chubby cattle quite a few times in the past couple of months, and each time the soda machine is missing soda syrup, the slush's are watery and not frozen like they're supposed to, and their side area is constantly missing items/out of rice. I've also noticed that recently the service has been quite slow and it takes around 10 minutes if not more to get a grill change. When you're already on a time limit, this is incredibly frustrating. I understand the restaurant being busy, but maybe they need to hire additional ground staff to help cover the demand. Def feel for these workers that are overloaded! read more

Super glad we came here on a Wednesday evening because they were so busy and booked!!! The Yelp waitlist on the tablet had a wait time estimate of 40-56 minutes. We got a text that our table was ready, but had to wait 15 minutes later inside the lobby when we could have walked around the Topanga mall some more. I definitely wish they fixed that so it would have been smoother. The self serve buffet station of beverages, desserts, and fruits/veggies looked super nice with the iconic fog flowing over. We spent almost $300 for dinner, which we expected, but the overall experience left us disappointed. This is a buffet where you order your main dishes on a tablet, and the staff brings those items to your table. If you want drinks, salad, desserts, or anything else from the buffet, you have to get it yourself. Because of that, I was surprised when the payment was brought to the table and the server stood there while we completed the transaction. The tip screen was already set to 20%, which would have been almost $60-70. I have no problem tipping for great service, but it didn't feel justified for the level of service we received. What was most frustrating was being charged for both of my young children. Before we were seated, I explained that one of my children wasn't going to eat. He is autistic and only ate the Goldfish crackers we brought for him. I was told he still had to be charged regardless. I understand restaurants have policies, but it was disappointing to pay for a child who didn't eat any of the buffet. The food was good, but the overall experience didn't feel like a good value. Between paying for a child who didn't eat, the mostly self-service setup, and feeling pressured to leave a large tip while someone stood at the table waiting, I left feeling disappointed. I hope the restaurant considers making exceptions for situations like this and rethinks the way the payment and tipping process is handled. Have been to Monterey Park and Little Tokyo locations but this was our first time here. I like this location a lot more than the other two locations. There are more selections of everything and self-serve bars for a lot of the food, desserts and beverages, although it did seem to get crowded /chaotic going between the self serve stations and your table. Being a Monday night, there was virtually no wait. This was a pleasant surprise after reading reviews of two hour wait times. Must just be the weekends. Btw park by Target, or the Target side of the Owensmouth garage. We got the silver menu ($49 for members.) The tabletop iPad you order from was more elaborate than at other locations. Easier to navigate. Our server Anthony was super friendly and helpful. The food: Miso wagyu chuck eye: thin, flavorful, hard to cook/sticks to grill. Full blood thick cut wagyu short rib: like standard steak, on the leaner side. Wagyu brisket: thin but not too thin, sauce make it slightly more flavorful than other cuts. I think this was my favorite. Wagyu skirt steak: thick cutlet, comes with dipping sauce, tasty but a little chewy. Scallion pan fried dumplings: meh. Salmon hand roll is spicy/ has spicy mayo, be careful. The yellowtail nigiri as good as any sushi bar. Cheese corn better here than other locations; more corn and less cheese. Cheesy sweet potato good, but maybe too cheesy. Overall I think the silver menu won't leave you deprived but sometime I'll spurge on the gold menu. The diamond menu doesn't seem worth it unless you'll want 2 premium cuts pp versus the one premium cut pp from the gold menu. Looking forward to going back. read more
