Fresh and sweet fruit! The longans and lychees are my favorite.

*Before heading here, I say get something light to eat and/ or drink and be prepared to wait. When you can, join the Yelp Waitlist! The wait is worth it! Shot out to my little nephew who actually told my family and I about the place and my little sister for treating us out! Review the different tiers before you get in so once you are seated, you can tell the server which one you and your party would like so you can start ordering on the screen at the table. They are strict on the time you are alotted so keep tabs on your time! The time starts once you are seated. There is a huge selection of different meat that is bite sized, flavorful *no dipping sauces needed!*, and buttery *melts in your mouth*! Put it on the grill, cook it for a little bit, and it's ready. That Wagyu hits different! It's so good! My favorite meats were the Miyazaki Wagyu Short Rib, Miyazaki Ribeye, and the Wagyu Otoro Thick Cut. The Wagyu Foie Gras Nigiri is one sensational bite! To go with the meat, they have a self service station to get fresh lettuce leaves, thinly sliced jalapeños, thinly sliced garlic, Mung Bean Sprout Salad, King Oyster Mushrooms, and more. Yum, yum, yum! The fruit station has grapes, sweet watermelon slices, orange slices, mandarins, fresh lychees, and fresh longans! The last two, my favorite hahaha And the coolest drink option was the unlimited Samurai Milk Tea! Such a treat! And there's still so much more that is available on the menu and at the self service area! Selection galore! Will be back for sure!

This place is easily the best Korean BBQ I've ever had. I put coming to this place off for months due to the extreme wait. However, I figured I'd just check in, go home, and come back at a closer to my check in time. The wait time was 255 minutes. We were seated immediately upon receiving the notice that it was time to check in so the system works but everyone wants to come here so a wait time is inevitable. We picked the diamond tier which allows 2 premium Wagyu options per person, around 88 bucks a person, but it was worth it! First bite I was hooked!!! Everything on the menu is pretty much Wagyu along with some pork and seafood options. They also have soups and sides. The salad bar here is amazing! Same with sides. Pick what you want. There is a self serve soda machine and ice cream machine as well. I see why there is such a long wait here and I'm already planning my next visit! The quality is worth the money. Will be back!

The curry and ma por tofu were a great surprise: delicious! Haven't been here in a little bit so these were new to me! The milk tea is still SO good! Both Samurai and Jasmine Milk Tea both favorable yet not too sweet! Service was impeccable! All the servers were very friendly and extremely helpful. Ambiance was very nice. Such a great gem in the East Bay. Will come again and again! Ordered the Gold Tier and the A5 Waygu items were SO delicious! I highly recommend.

It's fine - question is are you willing to wait in-person for a few hours and spend approx. $100 per person. Personally, for the quality you get, the trade-off is not worth it. For dinners on the weekend, the waitlist opens at 4 pm (only in-person), with people starting to line up at 3 pm. If you arrive at 4 pm, expect an estimated wait of a minimum of 2 hours with no guarantee of being seated. Tier-wise, if you're willing to spend that much time waiting, gold and diamond are the only viable options. While the special meats are quite delicious, you only get a couple, the rest of the menu is nothing you couldn't get at a normal KBBQ restaurant. Additionally, individual portion sizes are small, so you barely get any of the speciality meats. The reason Chubby Cattle is so popular is quite frankly due to 1) quantity 2) variety of choice and 3) fun gimmicks like the auto-rice dispenser. While you can get sushi, theres only a couple basic options and the nigiri is supermarket quality. Funny enough, in terms of flavor the jasmine milk tea was one of my favorite items. The service is very good, however, that's only if you get in. Since they're so busy, they will not have time to answer questions about the waitlist. As a whole, Chubby Cattle is not bad for all-you-can eat, but the wait time and cost are steep for what you end up getting.

We came here yesterday for our anniversary! We didn't know the wait would be this long on a Tuesday night! We tried to put our name on the waitlist on Yelp but we needed to be 5miles from the restaurant. I don't understand why 5mi? If it's a long wait like 1.5-3 hrs, why make people wait there? What's the point of Yelp waitlist? When we put our name down on Yelp waitlist at 6pm, the wait time was about 90 min-120min. One of our family members had to leave at 7:30pm and he didn't get a chance to dine with us even though we were called at 7:11pm. So that's a bummer and I hope they will change this waiting system so then we can put our name down not just 5 miles away from it. And seriously think about taking reservations. The meal itself was ok. We got the silver tier. The beef was nothing to write home about . We wished they had other meat to grill like chicken or pork since another family member doesn't eat much beef. She only ate the other chicken dishes which she said there was too much batter on the karaage . The wings were too oily. Her favorite was the shrimp, seafood soup and steamed eggs. We still joined the membership since we promised the person who couldn't join that we will take him here again. Tiffany, our server was very helpful and friendly. She explained the membership to us and also grilled for us sometimes! When we tried the free A5 beef from joining the membership, we realized we shouldn't have gotten silver tier since A5 was so much better. Next time we know. Overall, we still enjoyed it despite the long wait and the beef quality we had. We would give it a 3.75 but round up to 4 as we did have a great experience. Love the wide variety of food and drinks we could try. Also it's too crowded in the back . When we get our food and drinks, we always have to move aside for the serves when they bring out food.

I'm excited for more NorCal locations to open since this one is the only one open at the time I'm writing this. This is the only location where it's a whole process. I wanted to celebrate my late bday dinner here with some friends. We showed up at 2:50pm on a Saturday to wait in line for the waitlist. There was already a line but luckily we were kinda in the front of the line. We had 6 of us and we waited the whole hour for the wait list to open up at 4pm. The plaza has a lot of Asian food so we were able get snacks and drinks from bakeries, boba shop and 99 ranch grocery market next door while waiting in line. Finally they brought out the iPad around 4:10pm to put your name on the waitlist. Our table was finally ready around 5pm. Our group decided the gold tier ($78/person) and we had to order on the touch screen at the table. I believe we had a max order of 22 items each order and had to wait in 5 minute intervals. We had a hour and half limit of our table but it was plenty of time for us to eat. I'm so glad it's AYCE for the price we paid. The Wagyu and all the meats we had were so delicious. The meat was so tender. Our table had two different dipping sauces and some peppers on the side. They also offer seafood options such as salmon and yellow tail nigiri's, sashimis, hand rolls, and scallops which was also delicious. They have unlimited drinks like sodas, slushies and milk teas. They had a vegetable, fruit bar and side dishes. They even had Wagyu sliders. The service was pretty efficient. They always had people coming around to clear our empty plates. Our waitress even cooked some meats for us on the grill. We had a booth table and there was a small shelf under the table for extra space for dishes. And the booth had a spot to put our purses which was nice. They also had free dessert which was vanilla and chocolate ice cream. Sadly they sold out the matcha mochi. Everything was really good but the space is very tight and small so you do feel a little crowded walking around. But it was clean and modern inside. 10/10 great experience besides waiting. If you have the money it's definitely worth getting at least once for a special occasion.

Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Portion to Price: 3/5 Overall: A very good experience thanks to our host Viet! Very tasty food. The extended review... Food: 4/5 - We got a bunch of things. The wagyu which is not unlimited was nice and tender. Also I LOVED the lobster roll so it's a nice alternative option. I got mostly short ribs and it's nice cause it was boneless. There's also a small veggie section which was a nice way to start the meal. Service: 5/5 - Our server Viet was awesome! He actually did some of the cooking for us as well which was super helpful since we were already afraid of f***ing up the expensive meats. Ambiance: 5/5 - Love the decor in this place. A nice Japanese theme Portion to Price: 3/5 - A little on the pricier side but it was a great experience overall so I'd pay it again.

Finally got the chance to check this place out! We were a little scared that there'd be a line even on a weekday but thankfully we were second in line! Their servers work hard in the limited space they have. Raymond was our server and he was the best! He was attentive and enthusiastic- it honestly made our experience even better. They have a good selection of meats- all of high quality and there's even options for sushi! The salad/ side bars were also a perk - and the milk tea was delicious. Overall, a good place to try out if you're around the area and have the time! (If there's a long wait, theres places within walking distance to use your time up with)

I heard how popular this place was and finally was able to come here on a weeknight. We put our names on the waitlist through Yelp and although the wait time was 75 minutes, it ended up being a 40 min wait instead! I was quite impressed with the self-serve area! I have never seen a contraption that puts out rice! Thought that was cool. I was also impressed with the choices of drinks they offered - two types of milk tea, two types of slushy-like drinks, sodas. For meats and other items, we had to use the screen at our table to order. There was a limit to how many items you can order at one time. But then we were able to order more later. The meats were flavorful and tender. The nigiri and carpaccio were delicious as well! The wagyu curry over rice was really good. Overall, enjoyed everything I ate and the experience. My friend was member, so we paid the member price and got the Silver level. There was a 90 min time limit, and the time remaining showed on our screen at the table.

Simply put it was an AMAZING experience, and one that brought me back to the luxury buffets in Japan. Undeniably the best Japanese BBQ you will have in the Bay Area. This is a huge chain taking over for a reason! We got the gold tier which was $78 per person. Extremely steep price but the meat was so juicy, succulent, tender, and fatty. They also have unlimited fruit/salad, sushi/sashimi, milk teas and drinks, egg tarts, rice, soup, and more fried food/non-meat items. I think the sushi quality here was just okay! Definitely try the wagyu hand roll though. Also, I highly recommend making a reservation before arriving. Excellent service. Extremely busy yet still super attentive, constantly checking up on us and offering to help cook our meat. Place is nicely decorated with Japanese signage. It does get loud and crowded because it's usually a full house. Overall, yes it is very worth it he hype for the meat!

I came here with my fam a while ago during their soft opening but their waitlist was 3 hrs long so we weren't able to go but now we're finally here. We ordered the silver tier option which at the time of me making this review is $58 for non members, $49.99 for club members. The food was good, they had a wide assortment of meats for just the silver tier. Their salad bar was also pretty cool. They had a rice dropper machine as well as a milk tea drink dispenser which I haven't seen before. I will say tho that the salad station is pretty cramped, it's definitely not for husky people. The ordering system here is kind of complicated and Inconvenient for bigger parties. We came in a party of 6, and their booth seating where they placed us had very little wiggle room. Also it didn't help that the iPad menu ordering system is accessible only for 2 people to see so it took longer for our party to look through the options and order. Concerning our service, it was awful at first, I couldn't remember our first server's name, but she was talking way too fast and always seemed in a hurry. Our second server Rachel who came to relieve her for her break tho was very good. She was very attentive, kind, and patient with all of our questions which we really appreciated especially since we were a slightly bigger party lol. Overall, this place has some bright spots and some bad spots. I would maybe give this place another try again in the future but with a much smaller party. Try it out if you like. :)

FINALLY got to eat here without the hours long wait. Note: Get here 30 minutes before opening to pit your name in their ipad waiting list in the front. Upon opening we were the second party in line. I got to beat the drums before being directed to a booth near the front. Hubs got the Diamond membership the last time he came with friends so that gave us a bit of discount for 2 ppl. Perfect for our impromptu lunch date while it was raining outside. Viet was our amazing server the whole time. He gave his most popular recommendations and some of his personal favorites. He made sure we had everything we needed and highly attentive at the grill. Changing out the wire racks and grilled the meats and seafood to perfection. Absolutely chef's kiss throughout. Some of the stand out items were the fois gras wagyu nigiri . The A5 thinly sliced. The beef toro wagyu (it looks and tastes just like bacon) and then the pork version. Nothing like mouth watering grilled meat on a cold chilly day. To think, I already ate after my TRX workout so I would have ate more had I been hungrier. The portion were just right, no more than 4 bite size pieces, so that you can try pretty much a bit of everything. I was hesitant about coming here not only bc of the long line but bc of how rich A5 grade Wagyu can be. I didn't want the "meat swears" afterwards and turn into a vegetarian . But to my surprise, it wasn't that heavy. Viet squeezed lemon juice as he grilled which tenderized and added just enough flavor without overpowering it. They did have dipping salts and one spicier with cumin. I also love their fresh fruit bar (watermelon, sweet cotton candy almost grapes, juicy oranges, pineapple to help digest and strawberries). The other self serve bar (cold) were the bam Chan side dishes. They have slush drinks (blue and red), two kinds of pretty good milk tea (jasmine green and black tea), hot sliders, corn cheese, egg tarts (tasted more like cheese tarts), a rice station with 3 different scoop sizes, and I know I'm missing something but I need to head out soon. I had a really great experience with their high quality menu, fantastic service by Viet, and how organized and well run this restaurant is. Will definitely come back when I crave this again

God I feel like I have a literal cow in me. Another great addition from chubby group here in the bay Great A5 cuts, amazing appetizers, and great service. 90 minutes feel short until you realize you can't even stomach that much A5 lol Would return and looking forward to the one opening in Santa Clara county!

Chubby Cattle Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Chubby Cattle

Are there a lot of gluten free options?

Is there room to accommodate a party of 12 or more for a birthday? And how do I make a reservation if the phone tree says this location doesn't take reservations?

The place is too tight for 12+ birthday party. You need to walk there to put your name in for table.

Are there tables for parties of 6-8 people?

    Yes there are.

    Do they offer halal/zabiha options?

Yes they offer halal Australian wagyu, the servers are knowledgeable on which meat is halal and which is not

Is the membership worth the price? If one person has a membership, will the whole party get member price or everyone in the group has to have a membership?

The membership holder + one person gets the membership price (so 2 total).

How the waiting line to go?

Lunch waitlist starts at 11am, line up there and put your name on the Yelp Ipad. I recommend to go 1 hour prior to opening for lunch. This most likely ensures you will get to the first round of seating for lunch.

If i have a big group for lunch at 12:00, what is the max amount of people i can add on in a group, and what time should i get there by to be on the wait list?

The biggest table i think they have is for 6 so depending on your group size you might need multiple tables

    Do you have birthday perks?

If you sign up for their paid annual membership, they offer a free silver tier meal on your birthday (or the day before/after) as well as membership pricing for you and a +1 for the duration of your membership.

If I want to have a birthday dinner here with a group of 8, around what time should we come sign up for the waiting list?

Dinner waitlist opens at 4pm. Honestly I would go latest 3pm to line up before/during the line forms.

Is there a limit on meat ordering per time? I can't stand it when they put a two order limit each time for two guests and when I come in with 6 people they invoke the same limit. Like gimme the meat!!, I'm chubby for a reason !! 🤣

If we want to get in 5pm, what time we should start waiting? When is restaurant open?

dinner waitlist opens at 4pm.. the lines get long and you would want to be there hours prior if you want to get in at 5pm.. 2-3pm, perhaps.. the restaurant opens at noon, with the lunch waitlist starting at 1130am.

Is all you can eat the only option here? Or can I buy a la carte? My husband wants to come for his birthday, but I don't eat meat. Can I just buy a plate of fries separately without paying $58 or whatever the lowest tier is for all you can eat?

It is an AYCE restaurant. The lowest tier (Silver) is $58 and that is what you would pay to start eating there. It would be an expensive visit for you to go and not take advantage of their full menu.

If you want to get in at 12pm what time should you start waiting in line to put your name on the list? Weekdays and weekends?

Hello, I agree with Albert. I would try and sign up for the chubby group and make a reservation ahead of time because they tend to get busy and the waitlist will sometimes be closed. You can also call 24hrs prior so that can help as well.

    Do u take reservations?

Reservations are only for NFT members and Reward holders who have reached the adequate tier.

Can one person eat the lunch?

I tend to shop nearby and have seen the restaurant but haven't been in the area during lunchtime until today. I did learn they also have lunch specials on Saturdays too, so I will be back with my husband next time. I walked in and ordered, and the lady was so nice and welcoming. My order was packed and ready to go without much of a wait, which was nice. It didn't take long, so it's very helpful for people on a time crunch. I got the 3 item bento box with katsu chicken, California roll, and sashimi. It also came with miso soup, salad, and rice. I got it to go, so I was happy the soup was included because I notice some restaurants don't always include soup on togo orders. The katsu chicken was light and seasoned nicely, and the katsu sauce tasted a little different than normal, so maybe it's freshly made. I wasn't a fan of the California roll only because I am not a fan of the whole roll chunks of imitation crab meat but it wasn't a full deal breaker. The sashimi tasted fresh with a nice, soft, buttery texture. I still think about their sashimi at times, it's up there with some of the best pieces of fish I've eaten.

My wife ordered sukiyaki and I ordered a 3 item bento box. I had gyoza, mixed tempura and chicken katsu with a salad, white rice and miso soup. I liked all three items in my bento: the gyoza didn't have a crispy bottom but good flavor, chicken katsu was tender with a nice deep fried coating and the tempura was fried nicely (light and crispy). My wife liked the flavor of the sukiyaki and the ingredients. My son's wife had a sashimi donburi with fresh fish and my son went with a three item bento beef teriyaki, mixed tempura and three piece nigiri. He said the Nigiri was fresh, tempura was fried nicely, not oily and the tempura was tasty. The Miso soup and salad were fresh and tasty. We will definitely go back. For a wide selection with fresh food and prepared after you order, give Kaki Sushi a try. Staff is very attentive.

Tempura fried yam (I think) with fresh sliced avocados and fresh sliced mangoes on top. I would go back for that. The miso soup was much better than other places. It had fresh mushrooms and was yummy. The dragon roll was full of multiple flavors. The sauce on it was very good and the eel was fresh and good. We also really liked the shrimp tempura roll. Edamame was a great starter. The chef cooked an off the menu item for us which is called Karaage Chicken. It is small pieces of fried chicken. I believe the chicken is marinated in saki. It was very interesting with unusual flavors. A tad sweet with very complex flavors. The service was top notch. It is a sweet, small, casual restaurant tucked in the corner. That said, phone sounds blasting from the kitchen does seem a bridge too far for me personally. It's just not professional and totally kills the possibility of an enjoyable meal. Service was friendly, but on the slow side. The atmosphere is super informal, featuring posters of food that is not actually on the menu. Food wise, it was OK. The miso soup was pretty expensive. The best dish by far was the futo-maki roll. Really good flavor for a vegetarian roll. The 'fresh crab' in the other roll we ordered was not good. Rice being IMO the most important element in sushi was executed well, but my chirashi had all the fish served fridge cold and with pretty rough, haphazard cuts. For the overall price of the experience, it just doesn't seem worth it.

Haven't been back in at least 9-10 years, and it's still just as good as I last remember it!…read more This was my go-to when I used to work in the area. The only difference is that they largely moved to just serving dine-in orders in plastic to-go boxes. Coming back here after so many years made me realize that this is the place where I think they do the Lion King roll the best. Almost every other place I've tried has a weird twist to their recipe. Fat Fish's Lion King roll recipe is solid and the standard to beat, IMO. It's gotten pricier, but what hasn't these days.

The restaurant setting was fairly plain, but I noticed that they offered a good amount of seating inside for dine-in guests. Was quoted 15-30 minutes online, but it was ready when I arrived about 10 minutes after ordering. Then I discovered that the order was wrong. I was given edamame by mistake, instead of egg rolls. No apology given, just confusion (one worker questioning another worker on why she would do that), but they assured me they would make the correct order and it would take 5 more minutes. In reality, I had to wait an additional 10-15 minutes, but at least they fixed the issue. Staff was friendly. Btw, the menu states that the egg rolls are made with a mix of veggies and meat. But these were filled with vegetables only, no meat. Taste was okay, and the eggroll wrapper was thicker than I'd prefer. I'm used to the king and queen eggroll spots where the product has more size and better flavor with a light and crispy exterior (I know plenty of these in the south bay). It wasn't bad, but I probably wouldn't get this again at Fat Fish Sushi. On the other hand, the lion king roll was really good, made with quality ingredients and prepared perfectly. Too bad it got cold since it was ready 15 minutes before the rest of my order.

Shinkai does-- automatic plus for me. I ordered the Sushi Crafter Box and salivated as it being walked over to my table. It looked so satisfying that I didn't even want to dig in. But of course I had to. It was incredible! I normally don't love fatty tuna because the texture can be inconsistent and veiny but it was soft and not veiny at all! My fiance ordered 2 rolls, and a sashimi appetizer and loved it all. We were able to share everything we ordered and both left very satisfied. The service was fantastic, waters being refilled without having to ask and the restaurant was clean. It is a bit small unfortunately but that's just to say, expect wait times!

Flavors and seasoning all balanced well, they put shiso leaf bits in between under the typically gamier fish and rice. Savory roe bits dot the top of some of the stronger tasting fishes. And 8pc were only $40. Salmon rolls (salmon salmon) and (orange ocean) were both good. Nice citrus hit in orange ocean but doesn't overpower - salmon salmon roll had good crisp and umami from the fried skin. The sashimi platter was solid - nothing that blew my mind but it was pretty good quality fish, only minor complaint was it was cut into oddly shaped chunks and not consistent in texture between each bite Also they gave a LOT of plum wine, not skimpy at all!
