Comfort food that hit the right marks! Taste, quality, service and cleanliness. Ordered Jjampong, Jjajang meun, and Beef tangsuyuk. As soon as the food was served we dived in. Can't wait to go back.

Stopped by on a weekday evening and loved that they offer JJamJamyeon, which is a combo of the seafood soup and the jajang noodles that I wanted to try. It's nice getting the chance to try both. It was a lot bigger than expected and shareable! I also ordered a seafood pancake and the dumplings which were nice and crispy. Lots of seating and clean inside, friendly service. I'll be back!

Jajang Noodles take out after sauce mixed in

Came here for some take out as there wasn't enough time to dine in. We quickly scanned the menu and knew what we wanted. In the back of my mind, I thought I never tried this place. Guess I was wrong based on my unfinished review from 2023. Suffice to say I was surprised at how much they've improved in the last 3 years. Hubs ordered the Mapo Tofu. Yes, this is a Korean-Chinese restaurant. I ordered the Jajang Noodles. 4/5. So tasty thought a bit too many onions. Sauce was nicely balanced and seasoned. Noodles were al dente and separated with a divider which I really appreciated. The side of pickled daikon (yellow) really gave the acidity to digest the noodles. Love loved! DD really enjoyed her pork chop rice. She gave me a bit and they breading and tenderness was done right. 4/5 Today's experience was 4/5. ***Unfinished review from 2023 (below)*** Had dinner here for the 1st time last night. I was really looking to trying this place out since they opened. Also because I came back from Korea at the end of March was craving gimbap and some jiajjiang noodles. There were some good and okay points. First off, the gimbap wasn't my favorite. I'm used to freshly made to order. Whereas this one was pre-made and some pieces cold as it was refrigerated. It was the one thing I wanted. Moving onto the next thing was the jiajjiang noodles. Hubs wants to try something different and ordered the rice version. The actual sauce was tasty. Although there were WAY too many onions. More onions than rice Overall, 3 stars

My partner and I went here to grab a late lunch. There wasn't a wait, and we were able to get seated pretty quickly. We ordered the jajangmyeon and jjamppong. The jajangmyeon was a good size. I feel like the ingredients tasted fresh, noodles had a nice chew, and they definitely did not skimp on sauce ingredients. Very solid! The jjamppong had a lighter broth than expected. I wish it had more of a deep seafood flavor.

I love jjajangmyeon, and I love how MyeongDong Ja Jang had a 1.5 size option! It was perfect to share between two people, it might even be enough for 3 also. The noodles were bouncy and had a perfect chew to them. The black bean sauce was very tasty. We also ordered the pork tangsuyuk. The pork was crispy but light and we enjoyed dunking them into the sweet and sour sauce. So tasty! The waitress and staff here are also very friendly and checked up on us often.

After watching Korean dramas, my son has been craving jajangmyeon. Since I had plans to buy drinks a few stores down, I ended up ordering lunch from here. I ordered jajangmyeon (1.5 size) and sweet & sour pork. By the time I got home, the pork was still slightly crispy on the outside and moist inside but without the sauce, the meat itself was bland. As for the jajangmyeon, my son and daughter loved it. I really enjoyed the chewiness of the noodles. The portions were perfect for us. I was able to feed myself and 2 teenagers and still had some food leftover.

First time here, the service was very quick and attentive. Music playlist was a vibe (k-pop). I came with a party of 3, and we decided to order 3 dishes to share. All the food we got was very shareable. My favorite out of the 3 dishes was probably the seafood pancake. The people who were with me found that the jajang noodle to be the best. One did share that they thought the seafood pancake could have been a bit more crispier. overall, the food was good and we would come back again. Bonus points: the bathroom was very clean! and they have their wi-fi password as a QR code on the wall.

Food tastes good and we finished all. Seafood pancake was very crispy and taste great. Service was very fast.

Enjoyed my 1st time here & customer service is great! The manager/owner? gave me a warm welcome & mentioned that the portion size was something that would satisfy him. In today's economy size & pricing has really hit businesses, but not MyeongDong Ja Jang. The Mon.-Thurs. lunch specials are really worth it, bc my daughter & I were happily satisfied w/1 order of the lunch special that included Jajang Noodles & Mini Sweet & Sour Pork for $20.95. The noodles had the perfect bounce & chewiness that was carefully cooked. While the Mini Sweet & Sour Pork must have been battered w/potato powder to give it that perfect crispy fried texture. Unlike Chinese Sweet & Sour sauce, Korean Sweet & Sour Sauce has a more natural tan color w/chunks of pineapple, black fungus & possibly another vegetable. This sauce really hit the spot for me bc it wasn't too sweet & no red coloring was added. I would definitely be back to support this business.

    Garlic fried chicken wings. 10/10.

First time here. Ordered the Jajang Noodles, Seafood pancake and the Garlic fried chicken wings . Everything came out super quick, like surprisingly quick. Jajang Noodles: 10/10. Delicious. And kid approved too. Seafood pancake: 10/10 it fell apart a little and that put on full display just how much seafood was in this pancake. It was loaded. Garlic fried chicken wings: 10/10 Garlicy, sweet, a little spicy, super crunchy. I would come back just for the wings.

Service was really good, very quick, and all the staff are very kind! The food was really good, one of my new favorite Jjangmyeon places, and portions are BIG! The music isn't too loud, it's perfect, and the seating arrangement is great! Will be coming back!

Real jajangmyeon in the Tri-Valley, and it delivers. Myeongdong Ja Jang is a small Korean place in the Stoneridge plaza, and the namesake jajangmyeon is the reason to come. The noodles were house-made, thick, chewy, and springy, coated in a glossy black bean sauce packed with diced pork and onion with 40-60% less gluten. Savory with a little smoke, not too sweet, not gloopy. The cucumber on top keeps it from getting heavy. I mixed everything together and finished the whole bowl. We also ordered the fishcake, which was a solid second plate and a good way to round out a meal for two.

Arrived around 12 PM Noon on a Saturday and luckily got the last table! Menus have all the Korean staples: seafood pancake, tteokbokki, KFC, kimchi fried rice, etc. We ordered the rabokki, jjajangmyeon, jjamppong, and tansuyuk. Jjajangmyeon - 5/5, really the star of the show. Chewy bouncy handmade noodles and a sauce that wasn't overpowering Jjamppong - 4.5/5, more on the mild side, same amazing handmade noodles. Lots of seafood inside. Tansuyuk - 4/5, generous portion, enough for 4 people to share, and the bites were crispy, not soggy. Sauce wasn't too sweet either. Rabokki - 3.5/5, decent but nothing special. Ramen was al dente, which I appreciated. Some more odeng would have been nice. Looks like they have happy hour and weekday specials--we'll definitely be back. The alcohol prices were fair, only $6 for a small beer bottle and $10 for a large bottle.

Really disappointing experience with Andy & Yu's…read more I ordered through DoorDash and two Fried Rice Combos totaling $39 were completely missing from my order. When I contacted the restaurant, Megan, who identified herself as the manager, blamed the Dasher rather than taking any ownership or helping resolve the problem. The Dasher, meanwhile, blamed the restaurant. As the customer, I have no way of knowing whether the restaurant failed to give the food to the Dasher or the Dasher failed to deliver it. And frankly, I shouldn't have to figure that out. What really bothered me was the response from Megan. If you're the manager and a customer calls because $39 worth of food from your restaurant is missing, I'd expect some effort to help resolve it--not simply "it's the Dasher's fault." I was ultimately told I could come pick up the food myself. That's not much of a solution when I specifically paid to have dinner delivered. DoorDash eventually refunded me $44.95, so this isn't about getting more money. It's about how the situation was handled. Mistakes happen. Two entrees getting lost somewhere between the restaurant and my front door is frustrating, but fixable. A manager immediately passing the blame and leaving the customer to sort it out is what turned a missing-food problem into a one-star experience.

So, since I wasn't able to find a check in for that market, I had to come here to sing their praises. 6 Vegan Potstickers at the market are $13. I recommend spending the $1 for chili oil. Not sure what they charge at the restaurant for these fried pockets of deliciousness, but I tell you if these taste this good at a farmers market, packaged in a box, and I wait 10 minutes before I find a seat in the hospital cafeteria, and it still tastes this good, the restaurant must be out of this world. The wrapper has a great thickness and offers a sticky and chewy bite. I picked it for a family lunch after going to the Livermore outlets. The decor and ambience is typical but relatively nice. We ordered a bunch of Shanghainese classics: Soy milk 4/5 - if you order multiple servings it comes in a large bowl meant for sharing. Can order cold or hot with sugar on the side. Xiao long bao 4.5/5 - I'm pretty picky about xlb and I am partial to the Shanghainese style (vs Taiwanese style you get at DTF and other places) and this was surprisingly good. Before this, my fav in the bay area was I-Shanghai Delight and honestly I think this might rival it. Filling and soup were both savory and light and incredibly umami. Chef Zhao's version was good once upon a time but then the most recent time we went, it tasted weird and not fresh. I-Shanghai Delight's was also no good (not fresh). This is the one dish that I will keep coming back here for. Razor clams with ginger and scallion 5/5 - This was also a crowd fav. I don't love clams usually but these were big and meaty and tender, and the sauce is what you would expect. Highly recommend Stewed yellow croaker soup with pickles 3/5 - This was ok and could've been better. Flavor of the soup was good but I think the fish tasted a bit overcooked/dry and could've been more tender. Shredded pork with wild rice shoot 4/5 - This was fine and a very traditional Chinese dish. Nicely done but nothing amazing. Red bean pancake 4/5 - This was a good dish, just not what I expected. I like the red bean pancakes where the pancake part is more doughy while this was like VERY crispy. But the flavor was good Lastly, the lady who took care of our table was SO nice and so chatty and so patient, despite the usual chaos and indecision of large family gatherings. She also packed up all the food for us and even gave suggestions for surrounding Chinese supermarkets. All in all, it was a really pleasant experience with good food and I will def be going back for more

For anyone coming, the parking can be really bad as it shares probably 20 or so spots with several other restaurants. It's near impossible to park nearby with the alternative of parking near the Panera's or even the target. There's plenty of tables and seats inside, and it was pretty slow when we dined in. Convenient televisions on two different sides where all the workers were casually watching, and quite the chatter in the kitchen where they're all watching the World Cup. That doesn't really affect service however as they're quite attentive when called for. We ordered the salted fish and chicken fried rice, and the medium bbq platter with char sound soy sauce chicken. All very delicious! The only thing is that they can bit on the pricier side with $20 for the fried rice and $30 for the bbq plate. Overall, I thought grand cafe definitely scratched our itch for Cantonese style dining experience. It typically comes with great food, good service, and a bit of nostalgia from being from the Bay Area.

My brother and I met a few friends here for dinner on 11/28/2025. At around 7:15pm, the place was completely full. Fortunately, our friends arrived a little earlier and secured a table. The interior was clean. A couple TVs on the walls were showing different sporting and news programs. Their menu featured a wide array of non-Americanized Cantonese fare. We decided to do family style and got half a dozen dishes to share. They were: Beef Filet with Mixed Mushrooms, 1lb of BBQ Pork, Fujian Fried Rice, Beef Chow Fun with Gravy, House Pan Fried Noodles, and Salted Pork Bone and Peanut Porridge. Our food arrived in about 15 minutes. Overall, I was impressed by quality and authenticity. Despite the slightly higher price point comparing to other similar restaurants, they didn't skimp on anything. The rice and noodle dishes were loaded with delicious toppings, and the taste was on point. The BBQ pork and the beef filet dish were both fantastic. The meat/fat ratio of the BBQ pork was just right, and the beef filet cubes were tender and flavorful. The porridge was just okay. My mom's version still reigns supreme. Service we received was very good. Our server was very friendly and gave us helpful suggestions. She did forget our iced water, but I am willing to overlook that. I got a chance the chat with staff before we left, they were all very genuine and friendly people. Overall, I was very pleased with my experience here. The food was authentic and tasty, and the staff were friendly and helpful. If you want authentic Cantonese food but don't want to pay the super premium price, this is definitely a good option for you. I will return. 4 solid stars.
