After watching Korean dramas, my son has been craving jajangmyeon. Since I had plans to buy drinks a few stores down, I ended up ordering lunch from here. I ordered jajangmyeon (1.5 size) and sweet & sour pork. By the time I got home, the pork was still slightly crispy on the outside and moist inside but without the sauce, the meat itself was bland. As for the jajangmyeon, my son and daughter loved it. I really enjoyed the chewiness of the noodles. The portions were perfect for us. Tangsooyuk is good amount of meat and not just fried batter like you get at Paik's HK Banjum. Jampong has lots of good seafood pieces and the broth is just right. The noodles had the perfect bounce & chewiness that was carefully cooked. While the Mini Sweet & Sour Pork must have been battered w/potato powder to give it that perfect crispy fried texture. Unlike Chinese Sweet & Sour sauce, Korean Sweet & Sour Sauce has a more natural tan color w/chunks of pineapple, black fungus & possibly another vegetable. The noodles were house-made, thick, chewy, and springy, coated in a glossy black bean sauce packed with diced pork and onion with 40-60% less gluten. Savory with a little smoke, not too sweet, not gloopy. The cucumber on top keeps it from getting heavy. I mixed everything together and finished the whole bowl. Jjajangmyeon - 5/5, really the star of the show. Chewy bouncy handmade noodles and a sauce that wasn't overpowering Jjamppong - 4.5/5, more on the mild side, same amazing handmade noodles. Lots of seafood inside. Tansuyuk - 4/5, generous portion, enough for 4 people to share, and the bites were crispy, not soggy. Sauce wasn't too sweet either. Rabokki - 3.5/5, decent but nothing special. Ramen was al dente, which I appreciated. Some more odeng would have been nice. Looks like they have happy hour and weekday specials--we'll definitely be back. The alcohol prices were fair, only $6 for a small beer bottle and $10 for a large bottle. read more

This review is only for the tofu soup. It's my fault thinking that the tofu soup would taste like tofu soup from a Ja Jang restaurant. But I thought I'd try it. It basically tasted like the JjamPpong with slices of soft tofu in it. If you go in with that expectation than it'll be okay. read more

After shopping at the Outlet, we decided to try this Korean restaurant just a short drive away. The place is very clean and has parking available in the complex. Service is also excellent and fast. Since it's our first time here, it took us a while to pick and choose the items we want from the menu. We ended up getting the chicken wings, tofu soup, and noodles with soft bread. The wings are crunchy and tender inside. The sauce has a nice flavor and is delicious. The Tofu soup is good and the portion is huge. It's good for a couple of people. We also liked the noodles. We had an amazing meal here tonight for dinner. It's not easy to create good jjajangmyun and jjangbong so we were so pleasantly surprised with these entrees. Also, the noodles were perfectly chewy and not overcooked. We enjoyed the homemade fried dumplings which had great flavor and wonderful crunchy texture. I'm only sad that we found this place so late during our visit to the East Bay, but we look forward to trying out more dishes when we return to the East Bay. read more

We ordered the fried dumplings, sweet & sour beef and Gan Jajang (a noodle dish with pork /sauce that you mix on the table). As we were new to this cuisine, the only server working who was absolutely amazing explained everything on how to mix sauces and food and even brought us a small bowl of another sauce to try. She was so patient, thorough and attentive even after the restaurant filled up. Most other tables seemed like regulars and didn't need the explanations, but she never stopped hustling to ensure the entire restaurant ran smoothly. All the dishes were so good. I loved the texture on the noodles. They were very bouncy and had a nice chew. The sauce for the jajang was spot on. The sweet and sour pork was also very good. The pork stayed crispy and had lots of meat. The sauce was the perfect blend between sweet and sour. The raw onions also gave an extra touch.
