I love Happy Lamb Hot Pot. This was my first time trying Happy Lamb and it was delicious. They offer a hot buffet of chow mein, fried rice, spring rolls, fried chicken wings and other items. They also have a cold buffet where raw veggies, noodles, seafood and eggs are available. The sauce station, soft drinks and ice cream are also self-serve. We ordered the premium option and a lamb shank. I personally enjoyed the Angus Beef, Australian Wagu, fried rice, chow mein and spring rolls, it was all amazing. Sunday afternoons are busy but the service was perfect.

AYCE lunch is a crazy deal! $25.99 per adult before 3:00pm on weekdays, unless you opt out of the sauce bar which saves you $6...so you only pay $19.99. Nuts! You have 5 meats to choose from and a variety of broths. The only split pot option is for the original broth and spicy (glad we got less spicy). I personally favor the tomato broth and tom yum broth. Standards are lower since it's $19.99 AYCE, so nothing to complain about for quality of meat. The spicy beef was a popular reorder. They have a huge selection in the raw ingredient bar, and we loved the quail egg, ramen, and spongey tofu. All the veggies were fresh. Top off with soft serve (chocolate, vanilla, mixed) either in a cone or to-go cup and you basically don't even need to eat dinner. Service was speedy, and our server graciously moved us from a booth to a communal table since our party of 5 was a tight squeeze in a booth. We all shared one split pot LOL I've come here for dinner before and still thought the selections were worth their price points (classic is $33.99 and deluxe is $41.99). Your meal is free on your birthday!

Liked the beef spine dish. Service was quick and accurate. Clean, nice buffet area for veggies, mushrooms, veggies and sauce. Have not been here in a while: sauces are now included.

We were shopping near the outlet in the area and wanted some hotpot after a whole morning of shopping. This was a really great spot close and within 5 mins of drive. The service was pretty good and they were accommodating since we took our toddler with us. We ordered the premium all you can eat (AYCE) lunch combo, and we really enjoyed it. The premium beef and abalone were limited in quantity, but the other meats on the menu were unlimited. The soup bases were very flavorful and maintained good for several rounds of food. One thing we were not happy about was that we found a hair in one of our sauce dishes. It was quite a disgusting experience, given we ate directly from the sauce dish. They were nice about it after we reflected this. Overall ambiance was pretty family friendly, not too loud for family gathering, and is a great option if you're close by to shopping!

Meat quality good! If u don't want sauce, they will give u $6 discount, very good deal!

When I crave hot pot, Happy Lamb is my favorite spot. I love how flavorful the bone broth soup is and my boyfriend is a spicy lover, so the half and half pot is always the way to go. The premium meat menu is worth it: we loved the 2 wagyu options, the 2 spring lamb options, the fried donut, and the sweet crispy rice cake with the brown sugar center. Off the classic meat menu, the angus beef wasn't tender and we didn't like the fish ball with roe (usually a favorite)- so skip those, but we did like the beef short plate. 2 cons: (1) for an AYCE meal that costs $100+ after tax/tip for 2, I was disappointed that they limited the amount of wagyu orders. I understand capping the amount of wagyu per round, but only 1 order the entire meal? Disappointing! (2) the restaurant completely lost power and unfortunately we weren't able to finish our meal. On top of that, there wasn't reliable cellular signal, so electronic payment was very difficult. Really disappointing that an AYCE meal was cut short =( Would easily be a 5 star review if not for the 2 issues listed above.

Decent AYCE hot pot, although the value is questionable compared to competitors. $29/adult for weekday AYCE; premium meat is $36/adult. Sauce bar/soft drinks are an extra $2 per person. The premium meat comes with a one serving limit for the top desired meats, which eliminates its value... and the basic meats are HORRIBLE quality (very tough, bland). I enjoyed the vegetable bar and found most of my go to's, although some people missed some favorites (ex: bok choy). The spicy broth was okay, but I didn't enjoy some of the spices added to it that overpowered its overall flavor. I found myself dipping into my sauce more than I would with a good broth. The mild "original" broth was bland and should be skipped. Service was very attentive. Some of the menu options were unique (ex: "crunchy crouton"), although it wouldn't be enough to bring me back personally. In the end, it was just under $100 after tip/tax for two people. For that price, I would rather go down the street for a high quality hot pot experience.

The sour cabbage soup is so good! It has a nice spice. The original soup is good too! The staff gave us a cute balloon because we saw a little kiddo have it and asked LOL The fried food station had this really good chicken. The ice cream is more frosty icy but still a nice little dessert. Plenty of veggies and different toppings. They have a sauce and soda area but charge 1.99 per person who uses that. Their meat is delicious! Staff are always nice and pleasant.

This is my first time going to Happy Lamb. The place was packed. I went on a Saturday night. There was a bit of a wait to get a table. My group and I got the premium AYCE option. It was priced reasonably. The broth was decent. The meats were okay. Getting additional rounds in was hard with the staff being busy. Drinks and sauce access is an additional costs The restrooms were not that clean. Parking is abundant.

First time at this location, it's been over 10 years since I've had this chain of hotpot in Union City. Back then we ordered by plates only. Now it's ayce with choices of hot and cold foods up front, ready for you. There are 3 tiers and us gals chose the lowest tier, which turned out to be great and very filling. Even after we paid, we sat for an hour just jabbing away. It was truly quality time. Don't forget to try their ice cream, it was delicious and different!

Review #875 Posted on 4.21.25 We came to Happy Lamb Hot Pot on Friday the 18th. This is an all you can eat style hot pot spot. They've got a few stations with veggies you can pick to cook, also pork, pork belly, shrimp, fish balls, etc. It's smart when you think about it, then you order less meat from the kitchen. The menu for the choice you pay per person has a few options. Basically the highest option you can get the Wagyu style meats, and a few other lamb, seafood items too. You still get access to the other items on the list below that option as well. Broths have about 5 choices, my guess most people get 1 spicy, 1 non spicy. Food was good, and they're pretty on top of checking on you so you can order more meat when needed.

We were looking for some Chinese food for lunch today and we came across Mandarin Delight, so we…read moredecided to give it a try. These were the dishes we tried: - Firecracker Chicken: it was deep fried chicken breast chunks tossed with spicy Sichuan peppercorns and dried chilies. Despite using chicken breast, the chunks were surprisingly tender and didn't feel dry at all. The spicy, numbing flavor really came through, but I felt like the dish was severely under salted. I think just a little more salt would've elevated the flavor completely. Also this dish wasn't spicy at all to us even though we were forewarned that it was gonna be spicy. - Spicy Basil Chicken: this dish had a flavor profile that reminded me of Thai style Basil Chicken Stir Fry, but I thought the Thai stir fry version was far superior. The flavor wasn't bad though, and what really impressed me was the chicken. The slices were so soft and tender that I couldn't believe I was eating chicken. The texture almost reminded me of fish cake, it was that tender. However, I did think the dish was a little unbalanced, with the vegetables taking up a much larger portion of the dish than the chicken. And I did think that the bell peppers were undercooked. - The House Special Chow Mein was fantastic. The flavor was smoky, savory, and slightly sweet, creating a really nice combo of flavors. The noodles were also nice and chewy and had a great bounce to them. I loved all the different toppings that came with it too, and there was also Bok Choy mixed in for some vegetables. The portion was pretty generous as well. Overall, the service was amazing. The older couple, who I assume were the owners, seemed to do pretty much everything themselves. They took our order, brought out the food, and checked on us throughout the meal. They were very hospitable and nice. The ambience was just okay... The restaurant felt a little cramped and was somewhat dark. One thing I really didn't like, though, was that the kitchen was open and right next to the dining area. I felt like all the cooking smoke and smells were drifting directly into the dining area, which wasn't particularly pleasant while we were eating.

For anyone coming, the parking can be really bad as it shares probably 20 or so spots with several other restaurants. It's near impossible to park nearby with the alternative of parking near the Panera's or even the target. There's plenty of tables and seats inside, and it was pretty slow when we dined in. Convenient televisions on two different sides where all the workers were casually watching, and quite the chatter in the kitchen where they're all watching the World Cup. That doesn't really affect service however as they're quite attentive when called for. We ordered the salted fish and chicken fried rice, and the medium bbq platter with char sound soy sauce chicken. All very delicious! The only thing is that they can bit on the pricier side with $20 for the fried rice and $30 for the bbq plate. Overall, I thought grand cafe definitely scratched our itch for Cantonese style dining experience. We came back to this place because we were craving Hainanese Chicken Rice and Laksa Noodle Soup…read more These were the three dishes we ordered: First was the K1 Special Laksa Fish Noodle Soup, $16.50, or 招牌叻沙魚綫面 (叻沙湯). I had tried this dish before and enjoyed it, but I didn't remember the broth being so light. I thought the dish would've benefited from a thicker and creamier broth. I think adding some coconut cream to increase the creaminess would've made it better, imho. That said, the real highlight of this dish was still the fish noodles. They were these long, tube shaped pieces of fish cake that acted like noodles, and they were delicious and felt high in protein. The bowl also came with a good amount of toppings. I especially loved their beef balls because they were so firm and almost crunchy when I bit into them. There was also shrimp, Napa Cabbage, and other toppings that made the bowl feel hearty. My mom got the K8 Slice Beef Laksa Fish Noodle Soup, $16.95, or 肥牛叻沙魚綫面 (叻沙湯). This was very similar to the K1, but the main difference was that it came with thinly sliced beef on top. The beef looked really good, and honestly, I kind of wished I had ordered this one because I like to try something new. It also came with the same delicious fish noodles, so this is probably what I'll try next time. The last dish was the K9 Signature Hainan Chicken Over Rice, $15.50, or 招牌海南鷄飯. My only gripe with this dish was the same as last time. The chicken was chopped right through the middle of the bone, so there were little bone shards mixed in with the meat, which I hate. I really didn't enjoy having to worry about biting into one while eating. Aside from that though, I thought the presentation was much better this time around. It also seemed like they gave us a little more chicken, and the meat was incredibly juicy and succulent. I especially loved how the skin was glistening with the oil. I also loved the whole presentation of the plate, which came with the Chicken and Rice, some kind of Cucumber Salad, Quail Eggs, and a small bowl of Broth on the side.

Overall, I really enjoyed the food here. The chicken rice was aromatic, flavorful and had a really nice texture to it. The chicken is tender and the thin outer skin has a gelatinous quality to it like a well-prepared Hainanese chicken. Honestly I had no notes on this dish. Hard to improve. I generally avoid roast duck at restaurants because of how fatty it is, but the one here was surprisingly good. While there were a few pieces with a thick section of fat between the skin and the meat, the majority of the pieces had a nice balance. There's a sweet tangy sauce that's included on the side with the duck that I really enjoyed as well. If you're looking for lean duck, you'll probably want to stick with the Chiu Chow marinated duck. Service is pretty minimal here, but our waitress stopped by our table once to refill our waters and to check on how we liked the food. Overall, 4.5 stars rounding up to a 5.

Lots of dim sum choices. We were able to find parking on a busy Sunday with just a little effort in the shopping center parking lot.

Susie lives in the Bay Area and chose this restaurant. I was skeptical about keeping the cost low as we were having dim sum. I was afraid it would be outrageously expensive and not filling enough. She proved me wrong. Excluding the tea and other drinks it came to $30 per person and that included tax and tip. This was cheaper then the last banquet we had and I actually enjoyed most of the dishes here. The only dish I didn't have was the scallop and shrimp dumplings as the order came out with only 3 and there was 11 us at the table. I'm not sure how that was supposed to feed the table. We arrived at 11:10am and to ensure we weren't late. The parking lot was packed when we arrived. Saying that we only had to go up and down two isles to find a parking space. I have to add that the parking spaces were tight. We had the Honda Pilot and it barely fit in a space and that isn't the biggest car out there. We were told that our table was on the 2nd floor and to go to the side door. We walked around the side and found a door. There was not signage indicating it was part of the restaurant. The right side was locked, but the left side was unlocked. When we entered we were warmed with a sigh that said the floor was wet and to beware of slipping. They had a staircase to the left and a elevator to the right. That was a blessing, I know some of our party wouldn't have made it to the banquet with out the elevator. When we exited the elevator we were met by a staff member with their cart waiting to do downstairs. So the elevator serves guests and staff alike. When we got out of the elevator the staff member pointed us down the hall. We stopped at the bathroom on the way down the hall. Once we found the restaurant we were pointed to the back where we joined our party. We had 3 tables in the back which was nice. It beats being out in the open and disturbing everyone as we stood around chit chatted prior to being served. I felt bad for the table of 2 that were posted right next to the wall near our party. They just had a bad table. All the other tables upstairs were farther away and didn't feel like they were in our space. I have to add that the service was great. They kept coming to refill the waters and tea pot with tea, not just hot water. And we never felt rushed. We had a nice table on the edge of our tables agains the wall that we were able to hang our family tree. We are all 1st, 2nd and 3rd cousins and some of us have never met the others before so we really needed a family tree that color coded what generation you were. My favorite dish was the steamed sticky rice in Lotus root, next was the BBQ Pork Buns, third was the shrimp and pork dumplings. Though I don't recall seeing any shrimp in those dumplings.Thought they were big and meaty. My least favorite was the green onion pancake. It just wasn't fluffy and flakey. It was too dense and lacked flavor. And a little greasy. We had 12 dishes and were filled with some chow fun left over. The chow fun wasn't that great. It was filled with beef which was good, but it lacked sauce and the noodles weren't all that.
