First time coming here but I definitely would love to come back with a group of friends or by myself in the future. The style of cooking is laid back and made for you to enjoy a conversation with each other and it's definitely my kind of vibe. The selection is pretty good and diverse as well ranging from vegetables, meat, and seafood. We only did skewers for our restaurant visit but we ordered the seaweed salad and it basically came out right away and that was pretty nice. My only critiques: There are ways they can bump up your check for small things like opting in for seasoning for $1 per person and/or using/changing out charcoal for your grill for $4 per table. Not really a critique to be honest but more like a "there's more to the $1.30 per skewer". Parking was decent, but I think that was due to the time of day we went. Once you're seated, you can get up to pick out the meats and veggies you want to grill. Then you go back to your table to set up your grill and start cooking away. There's a charge per person for use of the seasonings. The seasonings need more variety. Everything seemed like it's all cumin flavored. Use the QR code at the table to order menu items from the kitchen. A very tasty and fun experience for our first visit at Chubby Skewers. It's casual and also great late night option for food and social setting, which I believe they are open until 2 am! Each skewer is $1.20 for any which is a reasonable price and you basically pick what you want. The best part is the charcoal grill... it makes a big difference. My favorite skewers were the calamari , lamb and pork belly but honestly all were so good. Service was quick and they were pretty diligent with making sure we had everything we needed. We had a great time! Loved drinking our beer tower while grilling and gossiping! The vibes are very hangout with friends, drink and laugh. The skewers were great. They are a Northeastern Chinese barbecue self-service grilling experience right at their table! They offer delicious skewers and diverse menu. You grill your food your way,, skewers (wagyu, seafood, veggies, chicken, pork, etc.). It was a unique experience, it DIY for everything (grab your own water, utensils, order from the QR code if you want more than the skewers, and they charge a sit down/using the grill (can waive be writing a Yelp or Google review). As of now, this is my review. Maybe it will gradually change. This restaurant is still new so that is why. When we arrived at 9:15pm last night, it was surely busy but got seated right away. It was lit. Like bright. It def has a wow factor when you walk in. As we sat down at our table, we didn't know what we were doing but I saw some videos on how to get the food on IG and order and from looking at the people lol. I didn't know that you have to keep calling the staff to come to your table by using the app on the menu, it leads you to this website and on the side it says "call staff." Usually they come to check up on you. The other tables to our right and left and behind got good service. There was a lady that came by and delivered our drinks and came back to ask if we needed a refill and that was really nice. The food was tasty! But it was crowded getting raw / cooked meat from the fridge plus the contamination in opening and closing the door.. I don't know.. I was hungry and tired from a long trip and didn't care as much but then I realized the 'hmm', but that's just me. To each their own, yes. I do want to come back because the lamb and wagyu were my favorite plus the dry chili rub that marinated when grilling on that made the food way more tastier. When the bill came, the waiter or waitress counts the skewers. We had around 86 skewers which was $1.20 a piece, plus the other stuff we got on the menu.. bill came out bout $220+ Great for late night vibes with friends and it closes at 2am. Pros: - Food was delicious, the dry rub is a must to sprinkle on the food (highly recommend the lamb and a5 wagyu) - The concept of grilling it yourself was great. Overall, this place is a good place to go to at least once for the experience, but I probably wouldn't return. My family and I (party of 4) came here on a Saturday night around 8pm for dinner. It was about a 10-15 minute wait, and they gave a waitlist tablet where you can add yourself manually, and you will get a text when your table is ready. We got seated pretty quickly, and the overall service was great! There's a QR code that you can scan at the table to get drinks and appetizers. We got a bottle of soju ($14.99) and a beer tower ($34.99, 3L). You do have to pay for the charcoal ($3.99) and sauces. Then, we got up to get our meat/vegetable skewers which is in the fridges in the front section of the restaurant. In my opinion, there needs to be a better layout for busier times, because it got way too crowded. There's also self-serve water and salt/sugar with sauce dishes you can help yourself to. I did enjoy the selection of the meats, as well as the veggies. The concept of cooking on the charcoal is pretty cool. I like that you can cook it at your own pace, and they have a cheat sheet on how you should cook the different types of meat. One thing I didn't like is how hot the charcoal grill was, and one side was cooking way faster than the other. Once you're done with the skewer, you put it in a container, so they can count it at the end of your meal. However, with each skewer being $1.20, it's a very small amount for what you get. We had to eat a ton of skewers, and even then, we weren't totally full. If they increased the amount of meat on the skewers, it would be much better bang for your buck! read more

I think I must not be this restaurant's target audience. If you are into a low-priced, meaty skewer, with a comfortable vibe, unfortunately you'll have to keep looking, because this place is also not for you. Everything felt overpriced, uncomfortable and the quality of the food was not enough to overcome the fact that they make you feel like you're just a dollar sign. What we got: several handful of different beef, chicken, and shrimp skewers. Each skewer is $1.25 without the $58/year membership. They were decent in flavor but skimpy in size. Think one shrimp or a few broccoli florets. They lack sides or come à la carte as well. What hit: The skewers themselves were okay in flavor when they stay on the stick and don't fall into the charcoal. It's a vibrant and popular restaurant! What missed: Just about everything else. The space is poorly ventilated and runs hot. The crazy thing is it's not even the peak of summer yet so I can't imagine what it will be when it's blistering hot. Vents are in your face, blocking site lines across the table. No real service to speak of and little baby water cups, which you can refill yourself. The only interaction is when you are seated and when you check out. The coal burner design is awkward and is blistering hot. It's impossible to relax and enjoy a good conversation. I was sweating. They charge $4 for the charcoal, so you can cook your own food. Price at $1.25 per skewer is wild. An unseasoned, mid, chicken wing is on two skewers sticks for 2.50). There's a $1 seasoning fee, per person, even if you didn't want the cumin or sesame seeds. They also push for a bizarre annual subscription for $58/year. Which comes with some small discounts, but honestly can't find myself ever coming back or recommending any of my friends to do so either. Final take : Some decent flavor but the experience is just not worth it for being uncomfortable and overpriced. These vibes are just not worth it. I won't be returning. read more

I came here around 11 pm and it was surprisingly busy as there was a waitlist to be seated, but it did not take long for me and my friends to get a table. The concept is really intriguing as you can just help yourself to skewers and grill it self which is not so difficult to do. The meats cooked really fast but sometimes I just overcook my meat just to be safe...They also have an online menu where you can order dishes like dumplings, seaweed salad, and this fried shrimp patty which I would recommend. Some of my favorite skewers to get are the lamb skewers, chicken teriyaki, A5 wagyu beef skewers and the fish tofu skewers. And then I like to shake a liberal amount of the seasonings on my meat. Although, the skewers are easy to cook and are delicious the portion sizes are lacking. To be fair, they do cost $1.30 per skewer so the portion size makes sense for that price...But, if you are extremely hungry, you will find yourself grabbing so much skewers and rack up the bill. Therefore, my only critique is that the portion size can be more filling. With that being said, I think this is a fairly decent spot to grab a late night dinner with your friends. This place is super hyped on social media, but honestly it didn't live up to it for me. The portions you see online are way bigger than what you actually get in person, which was kind of disappointing. For the price (around $1+ per skewer), it just doesn't feel worth it. This setup would honestly make more sense as AYCE. It was also weird that you have to pay extra for seasoning. The skewers could definitely use more flavor, or at least more sauce/seasoning options without the upcharge. The layout wasn't great either -- the flow to get to the meat fridge felt awkward and crowded. Service was okay but slow at times. That said, we did go pretty late, and the fact that they're open late is a big plus. Instructed by our waitress on pricing by skewer, charcoal, and sauce charges. I felt the "sauce" fee was ridiculous as there really isn't a sauce bar. They only have a few seasonings (salt, cumin, spicy mix, and sesame). No liquid sauces yet due to it being a soft opening. So the fridge area is where all your skewer options are located. Everything is labeled very nicely so there shouldn't be any confusion. Grabbed a tray and loaded up on meats, veggies, and seafood. Grilling isn't hard at all and they have a guide on the table for proper cooking times. 4-5 mins at max. QR code on the table to order drinks and other special items/dishes as well. Overall, had a good time and service was great. Felt the food quality was decent and warrants a return visit. The charcoal grill really takes the skewers to the next level -- super authentic and absolutely delicious. What really stood out was how this was the first restaurant in the area that made me feel like home. The cozy vibe, the great food, and the exceptional service all came together for such a wonderful experience. I do hope they add even more options in the future, and maybe more dipping sauces or seasonings -- that would be the cherry on top! This place is definitely very popular because the line was already 20 minutes long immediately after they opened up. At first, I was pretty excited to try it, but as I went to grab my first set of skewers, I kind of realized how small the meat portions were on the skewers. There were a good amount of fat on each skewer, which made it where after cooking, there wasn't much meat left to actually eat. With that said I think each skewer of being $1.25 is a bit expensive considering one chicken wing has two skewers on it which makes it $2.50.
