I will start by saying that I was a waitress throughout college and thus am a very tolerant customer. I rarely send food back, I tip well, and I don't blame the server if my steak comes out over cooked. Things have to be pretty bad to get me to complain. We ordered food-to-go here. I ordered the Greek salad and the chicken and rice soup. My fiance ordered the gyro chicken platter. The soup had a crusty film over it, like it had been sitting out for hours. The crackers that came with it were so disgustingly stale that I can only imagine how many years they had been sitting there. The only thing remotely edible was the salad, but they failed to include any dressing. The chicken gyro was a complete joke. As others have said, the clearly have no idea what a gyro is supposed to look. It also comes with a honey mustard sauce, which is strange and not explained on the menu-we were expecting tzatziki sauce. Ours, inexplicably, came with mayonnaise. The pita was so stale that it broke apart before anything was put on it. The "chicken" looked like the jerky treats that I give to my dog. I have never seen meat that old and dried out. My fiance took a leap of faith and tried a bite. He gagged. I called the restaurant to explain the situation and asked if I could return the food for a refund (it certainly was not cheap-the above ran me almost $30). The male owner began to yell at me, told me that their food is always delicious, used a string of profanities and hung up on me. Living around the corner, I decided to visit so that I could show them the condition of the food. I was met by both the male and female owner, who, before I even got a word out of my mouth, were in my face, screaming about the quality of their food. The female owner was two inches from my face and the male owner was aggressively sticking his finger in my face and sizing me up, to the point that I felt extremely threatened. The female owner then informed me, in a tone of voice that I had previously only heard on an episode of Jersey Shore, that I have no taste because everyone else loved the food that day. There was a moment of silence as I scanned the completely empty dining room and suggested that I may have been the sole customer in many days. I politely told her that I was returning the food so that they could see how stale and old the food was, and that I no longer wished to eat their food because it wasn't exactly up to health code. The male owner made multiple remarks about my intelligence because I "didn't even know what I ordered" as I did not assume that a gyro would come with honey mustard sauce. Fair enough. That doesn't change the fact that you gave us mayonnaise. Finally, after profanities, name calling, threats and intimidating behavior from their end, they threatened to call the police because "no one comes in and insults their food" and that someone needs to teach me to be a customer. I smiled and agreed that yes, they should call the police, because they may be interested in the threatening treatment I was receiving. Oddly, they didn't call. They did, however, call me multiple names as I was walking out. I have never been spoken to like that in my life, let alone from someone in a customer service roll. I will be filing complaints with both the Health Department and the BBB tomorrow. Absolutely unacceptable. I left the food there, drove down the road to Kosta's and had much better food for half the price. How is this place still in business? read more

Chubby's sits next door to my bank, and my wife and I never had a chance to stop in and try them until just recently. We'd never heard anything about the restaurant, so we decided to stop in one day. We were pleasantly impressed with many things. The place is clean and bright. The menu is extensive, and although we have not tried everything yet, the burgers, beef, hot dogs and gyros we have ordered have ranged from very good to outstanding. The fries deserve a call-out, they were great. They have a self-serve soft drink area which, for a pop-a-holic like me is a plus. Chubby's works a little differently than you might expect a "fast food" place to operate. When you give your order to the cashier, she will then invite you to have a seat and tell you that they will bring your food to you! Being semi-handicapped as my wife and I are, this is a huge plus! Also, you will not see the ubiquitous "garbage cans" as you do in many such places. When you finish your meal and leave, the employees will come out and bus your table for you. Again, being a bit handicapped and not being able to walk as well as I'd like makes this a very nice feature. To sum up: Clean and bright. Large menu. So far everything we've tasted has been very good to outstanding. Great fries. Free refills on drinks. Food is delivered to your table. Tale is bused for you after you finish your meal. The staff has always been polite and friendly when we were there. I think that from reading the reviews from 2010, if they were fair, that they have turned this business around. I'm a frequent diner at Chubbys Gyros and have been coming here years prior to the new owners taking over. Recently the cooks haven't been following order instructions like they used too, and the past three times my gyro sandwhich has been made incorrectly. You tell them no sauce, they put sauce, you say sauce on the side and you get no sauce at all. Food is extremely greasy and the tamales tasted as though they were just taken out of a freezer. I came in on wednesday of last week and when I complained about my order to the young blonde employee, she was so extremely irritated and pissed that I was mentioning something to her that I just left. Extremely arrogant and dismissive. Not a good way to treat customers or run a business. Probably won't be coming back. Listen to your customers!! read more

Ok "Flying G", did they name the place after you? -Eating greasy fast food that often isn't healthy for anyone. First of all, I'm a college graduate who DOES NOT earn my living working in a fast food restaurant. The owners should have anticipated that all their "disgruntled" employees would eventually talk. I have a large family, know a lot of people, etc. I will report Chubby's to the department of labor if I hear that this continues to happen. I find it interesting that you live in Aurora and come there 2-3 times a week? Such a loyal fan, huh. Are you really the owner? Slick. I love this place. Discovered it about 3 months ago and have been back with the family about 5 times with my wife and kids. I typically get the Italian Beef with cheese and hot peppers and the gyros. Both are great! Today, I took my parents with. They had a burger and souvlaki. Being from the Mediterranean, we know what souvlaki should taste like and this was perfect. Moist grilled pork with the perfect blend of lemon and oregano. The portion was so huge that we brought some home. Its 3am now and it was calling me from the fridge. Just had two pieces and was inspired to write this review. This place is the best kept secret in the area. Oh, and their menu is HUGE. so much to choose from and so far its all been good. First I think the owners are very nice people and hardworkers. I have gone to chubby's so many times. My daughter loves their fries and my husband just loves there gyros and onion rings! My self well I just love their grilled chicken sandwich and their chicken chopped salad with no cheese and extra thousand dressing, yep thats how I roll. Well, this place has very good food!!!!!And super clean!!! Anyone who thinks they are not good should get their tastebuds checked. Chubbys Gyros is a favorite of mine. Good food great service and the owners are such great people. The negative reviews are so funny because I have never experienced anything bad and if I did I guarantee that they would make it right. The Greek Chicken is awesome and I've also had the beef! Very good. The quesadillas with chicken are really good on a spinach tortilla. My husband had their cream of chicken rice. You can tell it homemade. Give them a try you will love it!!! read more

I have eaten at Chubby's several times now and the food is great. I was at chubby's the same night as Susan S. and order a gyro. It was just great! It was a meal and a half, the meat was flavorful and delicious - I don't know what she's talking about. I find Chubby's a great place to eat and living so close I've heard many other say they love the food and frequent Chubby's regularly. Do yourself a favor - if you havent already been here and tried the souvlaki sandwich then you don't know what you're missing out on. I think they marinate the meat for week before they finally serve it. It is perfectly seasoned. One of the best sandwiches in town. It is so good, that while so many other things look good on the menu I can't seem to pull myself away from ordering anything else. I need my souvlaki fix! read more

Since Chubby's has opened my husband and I along with our kids have gone there plenty of times. We absolutely love the owners as well as the location and the food. My family has never eaten inside the restaurant but have been to the drive thru several times. I think the service and food is great. They are always very nice. My husband loves the gyro and I enjoy the variety of the menu. Good for the kids too! read more
