I probably need to be more involved with Yelp than I have been in recent times. I used to be much more so, with a more even exchange of reviews. Sadly, I am here after no reviews for at least a year, because the service at this car dealership was so bad, I had to write. My Honda Element was stolen, I had owned it since 2005. It was bought brand new. I can't afford a new car at this time. I priced similar models...a Mazda CX-5 is 32K?! I can't do that! So I opened my parameters, and saw an ad for a 2014 VW Passat with only 17K miles! 15K and change. Seemed to me to be a darn good price. Chuck Olson Kia was the dealer. I called and made arrangements to head out and see the car. That part went fine, I was impressed with the car. It does have some kind of strange history. The body is near flawless, yet there are parts where it looks like somebody without a clue on how to wash a car, used a wash cloth with sand in it to scrub an area. You know the result. 90% of the body is fine, but there are these areas I only discovered after owning it, that have abrasions. For someone like me they are obvious, to a regular person, probably not as much. And, there's that low mileage at 17K. Next, a flawless interior, except for 3 very small cigarette, or something with too much heat, burns. Strange! This entire paragraph was probably useless in giving the readers my reason for such a low score. On to that. I bought the car. I only got one set of keys, but was assured they had the second set, they just had to track it down. On to finance guy...no, no, and no. Anyone who has bought a car knows what I am talking about. Now comes the part that really sucks. I landed up heading out the door without realizing that my repeatedly assured 2nd key would materialize, was not in my hands. So I called the next day, and the next, and half a dozen times in the next week. No returned message, nothing. At University VW today, I learned it will cost me around $300 for a second key. I would be a fool to not have a second key. A tangent, my temporary license was two days short of expiring today, yet I had not been called, nor had anything shown up in the mail. I called Chuck Olson Kia. "Oh, they're here" I was told. "Why didn't I get called" I asked....silence. I drive to Chuck Olson Kia to get the plates. An offer to have them installed was relayed. I agreed. I waited for 15 minutes to have a young guy tell me that VW plate holders have unique threading, he doesn't "want to strip it", and refuses to mount the plates. I drive to University VW, and tell them what the Chuck Olson guy told me, they start laughing in incredulity - "did he really say that" they ask, generously offering to mount the plates. Given the effort I made to get a second set of keys from Chuck Olson Kia, without even a returned phone call, I asked the UW dealership to start the process for me to get a second set of keys, it'll cost me around $300. There you go, what does the above tell you? Do not shop at Chuck Olson unless you want to be lied to, misled, and then the silent treatment. All I would have done had they admitted the lack of a second key, would be to ask that the cost of that key be reduced from the purchase price. They did not do that. Caveat Emptor. If I could give lower stars I would.. I called this past Thursday and was told that the service I specifically asked for would be at least taken a look at-I know most dealers only do maintenance service on the weekends and my issue was more of a technicians area of expertise, which by the way doesn't make sense to me nor is it my problem if your representative indicated it would be ok to bring my car in for what I specifically asked for. I live in Seattle so I'm not nearby. Got up early on my weekend and drive over with some work with me as I figured I would be there a while and come to find out what I specially/clearly asked for would not be able to be addressed.. WHAT, REALLY CHUCK OLSON?! The representative at the desk also seemed to offer no solution and only apologized stating "I'm sorry I didn't work Thursday". -I work for a service company that wins awards for our customer service from highly reputable outside organizations. We get them because we not only empathize but we offer viable solutions/alternatives! I never write reviews for anything as I take things with a grain of salt and just move on with my life but this was just annoying. I'm in a KIA lease and I really do like my car and have a little while left. I could see myself in a new one down the line but this experience will certainly weigh in my decision. NOTE: this review is only about the service department. I have no experience with this particular locations sales department. The car buying experience is not being discussed here and I'm sure they are nice; nice in the "I'm your buddy to sell you a car" definition of the word. I have my own tricks to make sure I am actually getting the best deals there. Be sure to look at the actual service side of a dealer because like all cases the sales people won't care-once again not saying that was the case here but if you have had a car buying experience you are aware of the sales/service differences even as they are at the same location.. read more

If I could give 10 stars I would. From the moment I pulled into the lot the customer service at Chuck Olson Kia is outstanding. I met with the lovely Anastasiya Finogenova who was very friendly and professional and made the entire process quick and smooth. She was very upfront and told me everything I needed to know. Every employee I met with carried out the same energy and made my experience a good one. I am very pleased with my purchase and was surprised to find out that their customer service extended after my purchase. The car I bought has a small chip in the wind shield and they made sure to set up an appointment to fill the chip free of cost, which was also a very quick process. We had a great experience at this dealership before, during and after our purchase of a 2023 Kia Niro SX hybrid vehicle. We went through the Costco auto program for members and were referred by them to this dealership. Almost immediately, I got a phone call from salesman, Michael Oravec. We made an appointment to visit the dealership and though they didn't have the exact model with features we were looking for, Michael found one, and drove it up to the dealership within four hours! The whole purchasing process went very smoothly, from Michael in sales to Daryl in finance. We felt no pressure to buy at any time nor purchase any extras over and above, during the process. Michael even spent over a half hour in the vehicle, going through all of the car's features (This car is very technologically advanced!) The sales representatives were very accommodating, knowledgeable, and followed through on their commitments. There were a couple items with the used vehicle I bought that needed to be addressed, and they were taken care of right away. I was under a time constraint, and everyone was very accommodating to get the deal done in a very timely manner. As with any car sales operation, I'm wary when someone asks me "What can you afford to pay per month?" It seems predatory; the deal got rolling once I refused to answer that question and instead focused on the total price of the used car, the total value of my trade-in vehicle, all the taxes & fees -including the extra cost of a warranty - and got their commitment to address the existing issues with the car I was buying. Came here to get routine maintenance done. Was told it would be about 2 hours. We went to the waiting area which was not impressive. No computers, no food, water was in a locked cabinet. Only option was coffee. I wasn't impressed with their waiting area at all. We left and went to the coffee shop next door. While waiting at the front desk to ask a question (there were people in front of me) the automatic doors kept opening and closing, non-stop for the 5-10 minutes that I was standing at the desk. My Kia Soul broke down and needs a whole new engine. It's a factory recall. I took it in 10 days ago and whoever checked it in said the engine would be there in a week or two. I've had no word, so I called this morning and the man said the Rick has my job and will call me back. I waited all day and finally called again. Just found out that Rick is on vacation for the next week and a half and the person on the phone can't tell me anything about my car. What kind of system is that? I have a 2010 Kia Soul, while the buying experience was not the best for me, want to write about the maintenance of my car. Oil changes, filter changes, or anything else that is needed, they always get me in and out quickly and are so nice. They never try to sell me things I don't need and have always been amazing since I've had my car. This last time I waited about an hour longer than they told me and the mechanic said my oil change was on him for the day. You can't get better customer service than that. I'm hoping my little soul will last another 10 years and I will keep coming back to them. :) read more

Kia Shoreline "Tony" was simply awful. He was condescending and obfuscated what exactly needed to be done. Did not acknowledge me when I came up to the counter and got mad when I said I would wait for him in the lobby instead of being made to wait another 10 minutes at the counter. He He made suggestions that made no sense and admitted he would not have it done if it was his car. He was purposefully complicating his instructions. I would not recommend this service department to anyone. I think he saw a woman who does not understand auto service and thought he could take me for a ride. I might not understand auto mechanics but I am not stupid enough to be taken for a ride by Kia motors. I have a feeling, but cannot prove, that he would not have treated a man like this. So glad I did not spend the $1300 he wanted to sock me with. Do not use this service department if you do not have access to someone who can honestly tell you if you need that service. Beware of buying a vehicle from Chuck Olson Kia. I purchased a 2021 Sorento Hybrid. From the beginning, I was misled about things. The parts/service department does not seem to know much about the car. I was told that the blind spot monitoring system only works above 35 mph. Not true. At the time of purchase, I was told I could get a home link mirror installed. When I also questioned my sales agent about the lack of a compass in the car, he checked with the parts department and informed me that the compass would be on my upgraded mirror. When I brought the car in to have the mirror installed, I was told that it would take about three hours as nobody there had installed a home link mirror on a 2021 Sorento and they would need to figure out how. It took over 4 1/2 hours! After the mirror was installed, I could not find the compass. I spoke with Jim in parts and he sent me a link to how to access the compass. I still could not find it so I brought the car back to the service department. Nobody there knew how to access the mirror. I was told that the parts manager was the only one who would know and they would have him call me on Monday. He called me and informed me that Kia does not make a mirror with a compass! Also at the time of purchase, it was late afternoon so I was also told by my sales agent that my car would be detailed when I brought it in for the mirror. This was never done. Kia offered to install weather resistant floor mats to replace the compass. When I brought it in, they installed floor mats which do not fit! They claim these are a "good enough" fit even though the passenger side mat does not stay put. I've since found out that Kia does not even have weather resistant/rubber floor mats available for the model I purchased. Living with all the rain in the northwest, these are a must. Why would you sell a car where weather resistant floor mats are not an option? Shortly after my purchase, I e-mailed Chuck Olson Kia about my concerns. There was NO response from the dealer for nearly 3 months. I also contacted Kia corporate. They also take weeks to respond and then the response is no more than "we will contact the dealer". With the type of service and misrepresentation of product that I have received, I will not purchase another Kia, nor would I recommend Kia to any other buyer. At the very least, I would not recommend Chuck Olson Kia. read more

I promptly towed the vehicle to their location for diagnostic of the problem. Very transparent process and they were able to look at my vehicle the next business day. I got a few quotes and Chuck Olson provided accurate and competitive pricing for both parts and service. Service Techs kept me updated on the status of my repair and managed to fix my vehicle the day the part arrived. I can't say enough good things about Demetri Pagonis (Sales Manager) and his team. After our lease was up, Demetri worked hard to get my husband a brand new car. He gave us different options, explaining the pros and cons for each option until we reached a decision which was best suited for us. He was patient and thorough, walking us through the numbers and getting us the best deal. He truly understands customer service and was upfront and honest with us from the start. Vincent Villano took care of our financing paperwork and made it a breeze. I went into this dealership on Friday 3/12/21 to test drive a Telluride SX. Myself and my friend were greeted by a woman, who I believe said her name was Tiffany. From the jump, our time with her felt off. She started her time with us saying if I wanted a Telluride, I needed to buy today because they're selling fast and they wouldn't have anymore for 6-8 months. She also kept trying to get me to drive the Sorrento, when I very clearly told her I was not interested in anything but the Telluride. When we were over at her desk, she asked how my credit was, to which I replied fantastic. She asked if I was planning on trading in or financing to which I responded I hadn't made a decision on. I explained to her that I was only interested in test driving during that visit and would then be making a decision at a later time. She took my license and insurance card to make copies in the back, and when she returned, I was told that they didn't have any Telluride's I could drive, even though she had spoken to me about a white one that was parked directly outside. She explained that she hadn't realized that it had been sold, and then proceeded to try and get me to test drive the Sorrento, yet again. I will not be back to this dealership. This is the first place that has even spoken to me about my credit and the financial aspect prior to me even going for a test drive. I have been test driving cars for the past two weeks and this was by far the worst experience I have had. read more

Came with the 3k miles warranty. Two months later, one of the tires lost all the air while my wife and children were on a highway. Luckily she was able to swerve away from the other cars and parked it. I took it to a tire shop and was told the tire was patched in a way that makes it illegal to be on the road. I took back to Chuck Olson thinking the tires are still under warranty and will all be replaced since it's an AWD. But the manager said I had to pay for two tires and they'll pay for 2!! Right! I'm shocked at how low people will go for a few extra bucks and don't realize that honest reviews like this one will end up costing them more in lost business. read more

I was able to easily fill out a full credit application off the website as I have a hectic schedule with work, but also wanted to start the process. I quickly received an email from Brian Schinto telling me I was approved and ready to move forward at my own leisure. The excitement got me hooked on a Wild Orange Soul that I had seen and I requested that color with my monthly payment limitations. To my surprise he was able to find one VERY quickly that was not only the color I wanted but also had a extensive features and options that all fit into my budget! I like this dealership because they're pretty quick every time I come in and seem to really know what they're doing, but I really don't like interacting with the receptionists. All of them have been rude every time I come in (I've been in multiple times). I try to make small talk or try to give off a friendly vibe and smile, but I'm turned down by cold, snobby attitudes every time. They seem annoyed every time I'm here and like I'm inconveniencing them whenever I have a request or a question. Management here should pay more attention to customer service, because it goes a long way, but it doesn't seem to be a priority to the staff here. read more

Edited from 1 star to 4: November 2017 We were contacted by the Ops manager to discuss this review. We later needed to have one of our vehicles serviced under an urgent recall and they did make sure that we were fully satisfied with the service and response on that issue. I feel like they heard us and addressed our earlier concerns. We still have one vehicle under warranty here, and based on the most recent experience we will continue to take our car here in the future. Original review - summer 2017: I would not recommend the service department here. You will leave the experience feeling like your car is less safe than when you took it in. They obviously do not have a culture of safety and lack any discernible quality controls. We have had several major issues and I refuse to take my car to them anymore. Issue #1 - we took our sorrento in for a basic oil change. Within hours the oil light came on. I called the service department and they let us bring it in right away. Turns out that they forgot to replace a sealing ring, allowing all of the oil to leak out. They apologized profusely and provided additional service for free (replaced a few belts). That's great - but it's an oil change. This absolutely should not happen in a professional shop. Issue #2 - several years later - we had a warning light come on a few months before the warranty expired. They could not diagnose the problem after multiple visits. I told them that the warranty was expiring soon and asked that they do everything possible to figure out the problem. They alleged that they could not figure it out. Then - several months AFTER the warranty expired, they suddenly decided to escalate the issue to some corporate service help resource. They refused to honor the warranty and we paid about $1,700 to fix the problem. Issue #3 - we took the sorrento in for new brakes. THEY DID NOT TIGHTEN THE LUG NUTS ON MY TIRES AND MY TIRE COULD HAVE FALLEN OFF HAD I PULLED INTO HWY 99. It was ONLY because I don't trust them based on previous experiences that I decided to "test" the brakes myself in their parking lot and felt an immediate problem when I slammed on the brakes. The service paperwork indicates that they road tested the car, but they clearly did not. The service rep tested the car in front of 2 other employees after I angrily pointed out the problem, and the issue was so obvious that the other 2 employees immediately started shouting at the service tech to STOP DRIVING THE CAR! The finance manager who witnessed the whole event tried to pacify me and told me that the owner would personally call me after his vacation to discuss the problem, but I never got a call. There have been a few other minor issues, but I think these tell enough of the story. Their service department leaves your car less safe than when you give it to them, and they don't care if you complain. (Notably - I did not get the regular customer service follow up survey call after this last visit either). read more

I recently purchased a used Corvette at Chuck Olson Kia. The salesman, Nathan, was fantastic. Since I live about 250 miles south, we negotiated the deal over the phone. Nathan took great pics and a video for me and described the vehicle as mint. I took a flight to Seattle and Nathan picked me up at the airport. That's a 45 minute drive, one way. When I first looked at the car, I was amazed. It was truly stunning. Nathan's description was spot on. What a treat to get an honest, accurate description of a 10 year old vehicle. Nathan then let me spend about an hour pushing buttons and making sure everything worked inside the car. We then did a long test drive, followed by a mini photo shoot at a cool scenic spot. Back to the dealership. They then put the car on a lift so I could check every square inch underneath. The mechanics were accommodating and honest. Back to the office to do the paperwork. It was all handled professionally. Keaton did a great job on the financial side. All in all, a great experience! And this was just for a used car. read more

Turn around and walk out. Actually turn around and RUN! Bought a 2016 Kia Soul here w/ 5 miles on the clock. Everything went smooth and the sales person was nice (Anthony). Fast forward 3 weeks later. I get a call from finance and they say that can't offer to give me a rebate that they have already given me. This is after the 4 days they legally have to secure financing or the deal was unwound. Talked to financing dept, sales dept, and even the owner Greg. Found out on my credit report that that day is when they started searching for financing, which I said they could send it to one lender as they said it was the last one they would try. I had over a 750 credit score. Long story short the deal unwound and I had to take my business else where. I just feel bad for our sales person if they had already paid him the commission from the sale. EDIT: Replied to comment via message and no reply. Follows what we experienced when we first ran into the "complication" EDIT 2: I'm finding out now that they submitted my loan to at least 6 places now as I've been getting letters now for the past week. read more

Beware of the "Bate and Switch!" Went to this dealership after responding to an ad off of Car Genius. They advertised a ridiculously low price that was was 2-3K below others. After a test drive we got down to the paperwork. 1. They quote you not on an MSRP ... but on a marked up deal "second sticker" ... around $2,000 higher in my case. BS!!! 2. They use a Lease Discounted price on the ad ... so if you want to buy it ... you can't ever get it as low as its advertised!!! You can lease it ... but then you owe them the payoff at the higher sticker value, less the depreciation. 3. They try to sell you on a monthly payment that includes an extension of warranty for 5 years longer than the 5 years offered by Kia ... but don't tell you that unless you balk at the ridiculous monthly price because at 0% financing ... the math doesn't work! 4. Then when you call them on their crap, they give the BS about paying for all the help and that they have to feed their kids!! Since when does a "for-profit" international company try to sell you like they are a "non-profit" habitat for humanity do gooder operation??? !!! They feed you those sucker punch lines ... what a load of crap! Chuck Olson ... who is still alive and must be in his late 80's ... should be ashamed of what his son and the pirates he employs have done to his operation!!! And your other son "Hans" should be mortified at all of this given what he does for a profession!! Stay the hell away from them!! Stay away from all the other dealerships like them!!! If you're searching for a Kia or Hyundai ... or any other make and model ... go up to Burlington ... 40 miles north of Seattle. They charge only 8.5 % sales tax (our wonderful Seattle and most of us in King county pay over 10%) ... as they have dozens of dealerships that work on the volume of their sales, not the "how fat can we make each deal" and rip off the customer sale. read more

After working with Keaton who was respectful, not pushy, etc. I was handed off to Brian when I got to the dealership as Keaton was with a customer. Brian began rudely questioning if I was aware of the amount the car we were discussing was, this is the 2nd encounter that I have had with him that he has been incredibly rude and derogatory. I contacted the WA State Attorney Generals office, the BBB, the FTC and the sales manager for this dealership in regards to the comments he made. I do not appreciate him stating, "well maybe if you had a perfect credit score you could  afford this car but you don't, your credit score is only...(insert credit score)." I repeated several times that it clearly wasn't going to work out and he continued to belittle me about my credit score in an open area for the other customers to hear. My credit score is nobody else's business and is protected information under the Fair Credit Act and Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.  I have never been so disrespected and treated so rudely. If those are the supported sales tactics by Chuck Olson Kia then I will never do business with this dealership. I was then contacted by Steve who told me that he apologized for Brian's comments and actions however I informed him the apology came from the wrong person. Chuck Olson Kia provides a great experience for the buyer. There was no hard sell, no pressure, and no deception. Demetre treated us wonderfully. We had our dog with us and he gave her a little Kia hamster toy and some water while we negotiated. Everyone at the dealership is nice and helpful and the facility is beautiful.
