I signed up for a YELP account to specifically write a review for Chuck Olson Kia in hopes that I can prevent someone else from experiencing the lack of professionalism and poor customer service that I dealt with. This post is way overdue, but here it goes. I'm disappointed as a result of the following interactions: 1. My husband and I went into Chuck Olson Kia at 3:30pm on Sunday, August 21, 2016 to view a 2013 Kia Sportage. I ended loving the car so I decided to move forward with paperwork and loan information. It was nearing closing time, so I offered to come back the following day, but the staff convinced me to finish up with the sale that night. As a result, I made sure that I would be able to receive gas and that the car would be washed and spot cleaned. The employees assured me that I would receive all of the above. After I had driven for a mile or so, I noticed that there was no gas in the car and it hadn't been cleaned or washed. I drove back to the dealership and both of the gentlemen that had helped me were long gone. I was able to get a gas voucher from someone closing up, but I was told that I would need to come back to get my car washed. ***My take away - they didn't care about my needs and didn't value my time, they just wanted the sale! 2. I went into Chuck Olson Kia a couple of weeks later and told the maintenance staff that my car wasn't washed or spot cleaned when I bought it and I was promised that it would be taken care of on my next visit. In addition to the car wash and spot clean, I asked them to check on a couple of irregularities that I noticed. I waited for a couple of hours and was informed that the car was up to their standards. Unfortunately, the car hadn't been washed yet again. ***My take away - the staff doesn't listen and doesn't value my time! 3. I called the bank that I received my car loan from the day before my 1st payment was due, so that I could set up reoccurring payments. They informed me that the payment had already been made and that I didn't owe anything until October 20, 2016. I was confused because the finance person at the time of purchase told me that I would be paying my lender. I double checked my paperwork and it said that I would be making the first payment on 9/20. At that point I had to speculate because I hadn't received any communication from the dealership. So, I thought that maybe my down payment covered it. Two days after my payment was due the finance manager called and left me a message indicating that they made a payment for me to avoid a late fee and that I needed to pay them. I was very frustrated because that should have been communicated well before the day the payment was due. ***My take away - the lack of communication was very unprofessional. 4. I called to speak with a manager in October to tell them about the unprofessional experience I had dealt with in #3. He was willing to knock $80.00 off of my car payment for my troubles. I asked to get that in writing, but I never received anything...instead I received a call asking for the full amount again. ***My take away - the lack of communication yet again was unacceptable 5. I received a letter in the mail asking for the money on February 6th. The letter was not dated and didn't outline any payment options. ***My take away - The staff is a mess There's more to my story, but I'm sure you caught onto the pattern. The staff at Chuck Olson Kia are very unprofessional and do not own up to their mistakes. All they care about is the sale, nothing beyond that. I will not be returning! read more

Brought my 2017 Optima in yesterday to have a spare key cut and programed, while there they also replaced an inhibitor switch that was on a recall. All in all a good experience with the exception of the greasy finger prints the mechanic left on the hood of the car, the door, door post, door handle and steering wheel. maddening since the car was completely detailed 2 days before at benchmark auto. Didn't notice until today when I got out to check the fluids in the car this morning. Took 2 stars off for that. read more

UPDATE: Raising stars on this review since we got a call from Greg who apologized for his team and promised to take care of the issues. I will be happy to rate it higher if they prove our issue was an exception and they can provide a good customer care down the road. ---------------- Had a reasonably good buying experience, but frustrated with the lack of customer care and any organization. Purchased a certified Kia Sedona SXL in nearly new condition (300 miles). Since the service center was already closed, I was promised to get a follow-up call with an appointment the next day to get the stickers removed and get the prepaid all-weather floor mats installed. My wife has been unsuccessfully calling them for more than a week each time being promised for somebody to follow up. The next week, after a few attempts, I reached to the service department manager who attentively took the details and promised to get back in 30 minutes. I waited until the end of the day, left Rick a voice message and shot an email to Greg (the owner). The next day I got a call back from the sales person that he just received my voice message, and I can pick up the floor mats without an appointment and be out in 30 minutes. We were ignored for about 2 weeks, and my wife with a toddler spent 3 hours instead of the 30 minutes in the service center waiting for her turn just to get these reused floor mats installed (pictures attached). A request for a discount since the mats were defected was rejected. The salesman brought in a person who he presented to my wife as a manager, but later turned out to be a regular service center employee. She also found a covered scratch on the driver's door immediately after the mats were installed that we believe was not there in the morning. read more

Service department is the worst part of Chuck Olson Kia. Every time I have taken my car to be serviced I've gotten it returned with the issue not fixed, I expect my car to be rid of the issue I brought it in for. I'm also having to pay each time I take it in because it's this or that "causing" the issue. I feel like if they don't know 100% don't tell me that's what's causing it, don't guess! It feels like a guessing game with them. Rick is the only good part of the service department. He always tries to make it right, but by then Little to late. read more

Everyone was amazing!! This was hands down the best service center experience Ive ever had. Rick was very sympathetic to my situation (break in). They called a bunch of shops to try and find my custom lights. Then, when they couldn't be found, they went through the extra effort of undoing my ex's jacked up head light wiring, returning it to stock. They even cut me a spare key when my running car randomly locked itself, with the keys inside, as I was about to leave, 10 mins before closing. And they were happy to do it! I also love that after Rick suggested an oil change and I turned it down, he didn't push it. I've NEVER had a time when the technician didn't really try to push me to have a service like that after I've declined. Couldn't ask for better! read more

However, Gichard took the time to answer all my questions and demonstrated a high level of integrity that you don't often see at car dealerships. We went to Chuck Olson Kia to buy a Kia Soul. It was July, 2021, and new cars were in short supply due to a microchip shortage. We had to step up from the base model we wanted because none were available. The salesman was the usual, with the "gotta talk to the manager" and endless nickle and diming on price. Still, we think we got a good deal. As delivered, the car hadn't been properly detailed: you could still see the circles from the factory device that puts the windshield in and all the protective film had not been peeled out of the interior. It was also missing the cargo cover, and the wheel locks that we paid extra for were just tossed in the back in their packaging, not installed. I called them on this, and Jim Ault, the sales manger, took great care of us. He had the car detailed, the cargo cover installed, the wheel locks installed, and we got out of there. Ultimately, good service, though the sales droid should have taken care of this stuff at the outset. All's well that ends well. read more

Strike 5 for 5 in a row for Olson Kia Service. 1) Charged us a few hundred for what turned out to be unnecessary repairs (and those repairs conveniently were not under warranty). 2) When they did fix the repair correctly, they tried to charge us in full for what WAS still under warranty. Only with pushback, did they cover it. (And never offered a refund or even an apology for being wrong and charging us for unnecessary repairs on #1). 3) For a service appointment that required approval, never received phone call approving. 4) Number 3 happened a second time. I gave up. 5) Scheduled an appointment on Tuesday for THIS FRIDAY. Went it and the person had scheduled me for the following Friday. Again no apology. No offer to make up for the lost time and gas. Loved their sales. Service is losing them customers. read more

Demetre was an excellent sales associate probably the best I have had in a decade. I had been to two dealerships previously and did not feel comfortable with the way I was treated. He was honest, kind, fair, knowledgeable, and compassionate. He also is just a good human being. I really appreciate the way he interacted and dealt with me. He allowed me to think and breathe and did not hover over me but allowed me to make an informed decision. I work with many many people and he has excellent people skills. We went to wander the lot. We kind of had an idea of what we wanted but wanted to just look around. At first Bill hovered and then approached us, we explained we already had a Kia Soul EV and were happy with it. He kept trying to get us to trade in for new Kia Soul EV. Seriously! Why? Anyway my husband politely asked for some alone time to just look around the lot. Then we met Doug. This guy was awesome. NO PRESSURE. Showed us a few cars and let us know our options with our trade-in. Which we purposely didn't bring in so we wouldn't make any rash decisions. We didn't get a car but would definitely recommend Doug. Disappointed in my experience. I had specifically gone to Chuck Olson to take advantage of the 0% interest rate. I had decided on a car - then the real negotiating happens. I was adamant that I didn't want to lengthen the term to 72 months making it a 0.9% interest rate. They kept trying to sell me wrap arounds and oil changes etc - running different numbers and scenarios to show how the monthly price wouldn't raise that much. When I pointed out that they had changed to the 72/0.9% and that I did not want that (stating I know it is not that much in financing but I don't want to pay anything). They acknowledged that and then tried a different scenario. I was clear about the interest rate. And my partner also confirms that was clear. And yet, I get my first bill and there is the 72 months. Then they had the audacity to say, "hey there was a lot going on. it can be confusing". I wasn't confused, you are shady. Shady McShaderson. ALSO, i had said I was going to put down $1500 cash and they wrote down $3000. I noticed it after we signed and was like eff it. it's fine. But now with this I see if was a concerted effort to lower my monthly payments while selling me this bullsh*t stuff I didn't need. read more

I wasn't planning to purchase a vehicle here because about 4 years ago we had a not-so-great experience at the Chuck Olson Chevrolet dealership. However, after about a month of searching for my "new" vehicle. Chuck Olson Kia had the one I had been searching for! I was pretty picky in what I wanted; so as soon as I saw this one available I emailed them. Henry was so helpful and very responsive. My husband went down one evening to check it out - and he confirmed the car was in good condition. Keaton and Henry got our financing done SO fast. Like within an hour or so. I couldn't believe it! I've never experienced that quick of a response before. So, the very next day we came into the shop, everything was pretty much ready for us. Keaton even got us a lower interest rate than we were expecting. I just felt like from the get-go, they truly were there to help us out. They made this experience as painless as possible. (Because lets be honest, it's so stressful buying a car). This was one million times better of an experience than we had a few years ago. I'd definitely go back and work with these guys. When we were at the service department for the warranty recall service, they also performed the 15,000 mile check up. The work was completed very efficiently within the time promised. When we picked up the car, the service rep, Curtis Bayer, thoroughly explained the work performed to us. What a treat! Came to change oil here at 8:30am and was impressed with the service and the place. Did not take an appointment in advance, but they were happy to check the car in and do the service. After the information has been put in the system by the associate, I was taken to the waiting area and introduced to where everything is for breakfast. I can say that the breakfast this place has is better than some of the fancy hotels I have stayed at. The background music is calm and relaxing. The tables and chairs are constantly cleaned. The fridge is periodically checked for drinks as well. When the car was finished, I was kindly asked to come to the front desk. The associate went over what has been done to the car and the extra free check up that has been conducted to the car. I was presented the amount to be paid and form of payments accepted. The price was impressive for the amount of service provided. This place is the first place to get my five stars, and happy to do so. read more

So I already had a bad experience a year ago when they asked me to replace my window wipers while I'm doing an oil change (I just replaced my wipers 3 months prior at that same location). After they double checked, they said I didn't need it actually. Yesterday, I went in for 60K service and they got my car in at 1 PM. After 3.5 hours, they called me telling me they're done with everything. They told me they didn't rotate tires because I need to replace the front tires which is understandable. However, when I get the bill; I realized they charged me 5 hours of labor regardless. Also, not to mention that after you pay over $600 for service; you think you'll get a car wash. That's not the case here. There is no car wash at this location. I drive all the way out to Chuck Olson Kia in Shoreline even though Kia Renton is next to me due to pricing/service in the past. I think I'm going back to Renton Kia moving forward since the price is about the same and service isn't like it is in the past. read more

I have Kia car and have problems and been go there to get parts and when I ask them if they can do it ( check parts that I took out of my car) as my boyfriend can do repair but want make sure it's the problem they say yes can check so I came all way and they say can't do it then tell me go other place and they called for me and said they can (2nd time they say (can)) so we drove all way to other place and same thing and more rude as they didn't expect us which Kia told us they called and say they never get any calls why do shoreline Kia lie about it twice!! When I get home I called Kia dealer and told them what happen then they admit they would do it but want me bring car in and want me pay fee I told them what? Why did t they say that 1st place when I call or being there?! They became burry about it ( try rip me off ) Then I spoke with Rick ( head or manager ) and had explain all over he told me would call me back after find out why that happens and he did called and ask me to call him back as I missed his call and when I called back no one answer so I left message told him go ahead leave message or call me back He never return even I call him three day in row and still can't get reach of him So I called other place in evertt( way north as I live in Seattle) they was super nice and say yes they can do it and not charge me at all even shoreline say it would charge me up 125$ per hour and when I asked them how long as I know it take few mins for check up but he say he guess around two hours and wasn't sure? Wtf? He try rip me off by cost 250$ plus tax for just check one thing for few mins as said would take them awhile and I don't even ask them to fix it just check part see if it's good or not so I know if I need buy new part I am so happy I didn't go for it as Everett did for FREE! I will go back whenever I need their help won't go to shoreline they are full of BS and not keep their words!!! Want let other know check with evertt before go there!!!!!!! Rick was very personable and knowledgeable. He made suggestions for maintenance on my car, taking the time to explain why certain things were recommended and even showing me evidence of some of the issues first hand (i.e. dirty air filter and rat infestation issues). I felt like I could trust his advice and that he was sincere. I also want to mention Steve. I came in for an oil change and brake light replacement on the 26th of December. The service department was closed and I was disappointed because I had an appointment. Steve was coming outside and I explained the situation to him. I told him that I understood that mistakes happened (in this case online scheduling issues) and that I could wait on the oil change but I was really worried about the break light. Steve went the extra mile and replaced the break light himself! I knew it wasn't his area of expertise (or his problem) which made his efforts all the more impressive. If I do buy another Kia after my current one--it will be from Steve. He really seemed like a stand up guy. Great hire! read more

If you're looking to buy or lease a car, you could not find a better team than the one at Chuck Olson Kia and Chevrolet. Kia and Chevy are doing really well in terms of designing cars that check all the boxes. I've purchased a Kia Soul myself this year; leased a Kia Soul in 2014; and leased a Sorento in 2012 with my husband - all from Bob Collins, a fantastic and knowledgeable salesperson. I must mention that this year I received additional support from a new salesman, Clint, who was also wonderful and went the extra mile. It feels like the team works well together here. If you've seen the ads, you'll note that Chuck Olson's son Greg is actually on site - I've seen him there several times. It's nice to support local businesses, and there are many reasons why you should consider this location. Kia offers a popular line, including hybrids, and so does Chevy. The cars have a lot of personality. There's a classic feel with the Sorento, the Sportage works well for more active lifestyles, and while the Soul is marketed as being kind of hip and fun for the younger crowd, it's also an excellent car for (cool) moms like me ;) (Hyundai - whose reputation is growing - is the parent company of Kia, fyi). All of these cars have great ratings. The team is incredible, too. I've worked with several impressive people like Demetre Pagonis, a sales manager who is very sincere, and several standouts in the finance dept., including, Bill, who help me process the paperwork in a very organized and efficient manner, and Ian and Keaton (in sales), who were both quick to help answer questions. Everyone is polite, professional, and supportive. Bob has a lot of experience, having worked at this location for over 10 years, and helps train the new salespeople, like Mike, a new affable sales guy. Bob has a very low-key approach and there's no high-pressure sales vibe at this location. I've bought cars in New Jersey and New York in the past, and believe me there's quite a contrast. You feel respected and comfortable here, and it's nice to see a diverse, approachable team. The sales showroom is gleaming and fairly new. The service and parts departments are very easy to work with. Steve, the former head of service, is now selling - he knows the cars inside out. Another benefit of purchasing or leasing from this location - besides the people - is that it's near 170th on Aurora; extremely accessible from anywhere in the Seattle area, whereas a lot of other dealerships are way far up north. They offer a lot of amenities in a pleasant environment, which makes buying a car an enjoyable experience. It can be nerve-racking to make a decision, but I will say that the Soul has been an incredible car for me and my needs. It's roomy but manageable, sporty and fun to drive, but also safe and smooth to maneuver. Most importantly, the Soul has been very reliable. I had one for 4 years without one problem. There are quite a few impressive features available, especially with today's technology, but even if you choose a base model you'll be pleasantly surprised. I have referred people to Bob Collins at Chuck Olson Kia/Chevrolet and will continue to do so. He and the team worked with me around a few tricky financing issues, going above and beyond my expectations. I used to be a Toyota customer, and I do still really like them, however I'm thrilled with the Soul. I see myself being a loyal lifelong customer. read more
